Hello everyone and how are we today then? all is well full stop is it really cold over here today day.com we have just come back from the garden centre comma getting some ideas on what plants to put in for height in the garden for the birds. Must be honest not a real lot there but I am going to get some small leylandii trees and keep them in their pots to create a hedge no higher than about 3 ft. There weren't many people out at all and to be honest some of the prices were extortionate of what was there. Yesterday I went down the village comma and lying on the pavement I found a bank card, still in date unsigned but it had the person's name on it. I went on the local Facebook website around here and said that I had found a bank card and does anyone know a person of this name? I also went on 192.com and found there were two people of the same name within 10 miles of me. Two or three people came back to me me and said yes the new this person I'm 1 lady said it was her nephew and she got him to contact me so after the usual blurb I asked him the number etc which he gave type of card but also said that it hadn't been signed he didn't seems latest about that and Infernus if I had wanted to I could have used contactless payments of up to £100 a shot in as many shots as I had wanted. He is only a young lad, and he said he would pick the card up today not unless I wanted to drop it off to him! Nice try but failed at the first fence! Very pleasant and polite, however it just shows the attitude difference in generations full stop if that had have been me and someone had found my bank card I would have been to their house yesterday not tomorrow!

Hiya lav, got the computer Saga sorted out we are up and running now, hope all is well with you. I put the garden centre today they had a section for fresh eggs etc and they had these hennes don't know what kind they are so thought I'd send you a picture. Hope your day is going well.

Hello to everyone else hope the weekend is going well for you, take care and look after yourselves

    MAE ALL...

Took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and spent the day outside. Snow and cold expected Monday night so I might get out again today for awhile.

Lav...hope you're not getting clobbered by that storm. Watching some pictures on the news and trying to figure out where it is in relation to you. I hope you kept some food for you and YB incase you can't get out.

Mick...probably a good idea to pass on detecting today. Glad you got your laptop sorted. I'm dealing with an issue on one of our work tablets and quite frankly I don't really care if I solve it. We've only got 7 of them. LOL

Doc called to say she wants a phone consult about my blood work results. Says there's nothing out of the ordinary so that's good.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good Sunday all...:smile:PPQP

Greetings friends from a snowy PA.

Started before 4:30 this afternoon & it’s sticking to everything. Supposedly the temp is going to go above freezing after 8 tonight & the snow turns into rain. And it will be 47 degrees by 2 am, haha! Seems like a big joke or something. Tomorrow is MLK day so schools are closed, some people are off from work anyway.
Grandsons are back home where they belong. This morning’s breakfast eater put down 8 slices of turkey bacon, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of toast & a double hot chocolate, LOL They’re not little kids anymore, that’s for sure

Mick, those hens are fancy silkies I believe. I’ve never had any but I know people like them. I always get the bigger, heartier birds than can withstand the cold in an unheated coop & the blistering heat we get in summer (with lots of cold watermelon). Keep planning that garden, it’s fun

PQ, glad you got some fresh air this weekend.
I don’t care som much about snow & rain, it’s the possible power outages when the wind kicks up that annoy me. We’ll see what happens.

Hello to Cyn, hope you’re settling in nicely.

Hello to Pauly & Det, hope everyone is happy & healthy.

      Sam, what’s up with you?

      Wishing everyone a nice night!

Hello everyone and how are we then today? Hope all is well very dry over here today and very cold as well. Went to one of the superstores this morning, and they got some plants reduced. Nice wide green foliage plants japonica plus they are got trays of of pansies and violas for 10 pence a tray at 3 consisting of 20 plants. I am going up to get the Conifers later on today.

Hiya ppqp how are you today then? hope all is well. I am in the process of destroying my old laptop it isn't worth factory reset and giving to charity so I will destroy the hard drive. Did you get your sorted out? Hope you have a good day

Hiya lav how are you today then? I had a funny feeling that those hens were called silkies don't ask me how I knew but it was stuck in my head somewhere along with every other piece of nonsense that's completely useless! I'm looking forward to do a bit the garden as well I must be honest. I was even considering to get rid of the greenhouse, but I'm keeping it I'm going to grow vegetables in it in a small 8 by 4 bed full stop the trouble is I need to get things that I can water on a timer or that can be watered on a timer when I am away full stop that shouldn't be too much of an issue full stop hope everything is ok with you you take care and have a great day.

Hello everyone else hope you're doing well and looking after yourself take care and be safe

          Good evening friends,

Yesterday’s snow was all washed away overnight with heavy rain. Cloudy all day & cold & windy still. Good day to make a pot of vegetable farro soup. I use farro these days in place of barley because it’s easier on the old gut. Warmed up the leftover lentil (sausage) rolls to go with the soup, yum.

Mick, I can’t believe you’re actually buying plants already! I’m sure all the local Amish greenhouses are getting seeds started but it’s a long time before we can actually plant anything outside. We’re supposed to wait ungtil Mother’s day in May before we plant anything outside for fear of frost. Our greenhouse is heated to 50 degrees so nothing freezes in there. I imagine you could set a timer on a sprinkler to do the watering while you’re away. That’s why I travel with friends or family, YB just wnats to stay home all the time, ho hum, LOL

Hello to PQ & Cyn. Hope yuo had a good day!

Hello to Pauly, Det, Sam & PIe & anyone dropping by.
          Have a nice night all.

            MAE ALL...

Frustrating day trying to source an adaptor for the PC, no luck, turned it over to the boss. LOL Spent another 2 hours on chat with support trying to get the tablet working, went through all the trouble shooting I'd done on Friday and finally said that's it I've had enough. Got another tablet and everything loaded and worked just fine. Turned on the other tablet to uninstall everything and it was all working. WTF! I got a sneaky feeling support figured out what was wrong with their app and fixed it. Oh well at least now I have a backup.

Mick...did you go back and get the Conifers? I can't believe plants are available for sale already. I've got 2 laptops at work that I've decided aren't worth donating. Have taken the hard drives out and will destroy everything when we have our community cleanup. It was dry but warm here today but that's going to change tonight.

Lav...glad your snow got washed away and soup sounds like the perfect meal with your weather. We are dropping to -17C/1F tonight with a small amount of snow. The high tomorrow is only -15C/5F, same for Wednesday. Then we're climbing up to 13C/55F by the weekend. Crazy weather! PC put in for 5 hours overtime over the weekend, doing what who knows. Boss said no. You may have had an agreement/arrangement with the old boss but I'm following the staff policies to a T. Finally.

Hope the rest of the gang is doing ok, check in and say hi when you can. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

Hello everyone and how are we today hope all is well oh stop it is very cold over here a hard Frost last night, very cold this morning. I spent this morning cleaning the hall and stairs carpet it's a sort of grey and white fleck, but it looks dirty to me so first night scrubbed it then spread it then put the carpet cleaning machine over it. Probably took me me about 3 hours to do it but it looks a lot better.

Hiya lav how are you today then? Yes I have got some plants and went down and got some more today. They are Hardy shrub bushes but nevertheless I'm still going to keep them in the greenhouse for a month or so that way I can grow them in the heat without the frost chopping them back who stop the main plants we've got out of the moment in Bloom are primulas and hellebore although in my greenhouse I have got shoots off the geranium plants from last year and also the fuchsia. It's strange once you get into it how much you want to just keep carrying on on but I need to keep an eye on the weather. Yes I'm sure I can set a sprinkler system up in the greenhouse for when I'm away on a timer take care have a great day

Hiya ppqp all the snow gone now excellent. Yes I went down and got those Connor first today day another four who stop they are dwarf at the moment and that's how I intend to keep them I will dig them into the ground in pots. Can you not get an adaptor from eBay? I record getting one when Bonnie chewed through possibly the first of the 27 million that she's eaten! It was the first full moon last night over here the first one of the year I didn't know the native Indians used to name the moons and that's how they told what month it was etc last night's full moon was the wolf moon so named because it's the first of the Year the Wolves start howling ready for the mating season personally instead of won't you're like drama in the cold making a noise in the middle of the night why don't they just sign up to a dating agency! take care have a great day

A big shout out to everyone else whenever you are and whatever you're doing take care and be safe

                Greetings friends,

Cold. &windy still but we did have a bit of sunshine too.
Tomorrow is our daughter’s birthday & son-in-laws birthday as well this week so we’re going to take them out for dinner & gifts. Might as well do this stuff when the roads are clear

PQ, enjoy the warmth while yuo have it because you know what happens, haha!! We’re supposed to have another storm or two before the week is over. Oh well!
So no unapproved OT - sounds like a plan to me, LOL

Mick, it’s always nice to get a few years out of an annual plant. I sometimes do that too but completely by accident!!
The full moon messed up sleep for a few nights for me, typical. Hopefully that’s over now for another month.

Hello to the rest of the kids & wishing everyone a nice night!

                  MAE ALL...

Well we got the cold but very little snow, didn't even have to brush the car off. We are sitting in a really sweet spot because north, west and east of us got clobbered. This is just a reminder that no, spring has not sprung.

Mick...boy when you decide to clean something you go all out. Glad you're happy with the outcome. As a matter of fact the boss did find an adaptor on eBay, LOL I did my part and figured it was now his turn. I always wondered who named the moons, now I know.

Lav...we're in for another cold day tomorrow and then the change starts. Good plan on getting out while the roads are clear. It's nice that the birthdays are so close together, 2 for the price of 1. LOL I am glad the new boss is sticking with the policies, at least that way everyone knows what's expected. If something needs changing/updating so be it. No more secrets, YAY.

I hope everyone else is doing ok. It may seem like Mick, Lav and I are just giving a daily report but the goal is to keep the thread open for anyone struggling with their sobriety during their first 30 days. We're here to listen and support.

                  Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

                    Re: Jan16

Hello dear friends! I am SO sorry to be absent... it has been a trial getting internet going. This morning was my 3rd trip to the store, and finally they gave me the fix, whew. I was getting frustrated, as I had already used up all my data on my phone and was being charged for every millisecond more used. So forgive me for being away.

My things were moved in a week ago... I can’t believe it! I am not really “moved in“, but getting there... I’m taking it slowly - opening the boxes that I packed 20 months or more ago... very emotional.

I just read this week’s thread, and now will go back to last week. I am so grateful to the Sober Habits that continue to be strong and keep me safe. Thank you all for being my Rock, a source of strength.

Mick, we are a deep freeze here, I can’t believe that you are buying plants! Good to hear all your plans...
PPQ, I smiled at the story of the overtime... haha, welcome to the real world for that worker.
Lav, I loved the story of the dual birthdays... so glad you had some good times with the kids. And the appetite of the growing boy, sheesh! Eating like a farmhand!

Yes Mick, I noticed the full moon also - beautiful! And I love all the Native American names for the moon... so connected to the seasons. (Lav you are reminding me that my lack of sleep until last night might have been the moon... oh well!)

Hello to Sam, Det, Pauly - miss hearing your voices! Hello to all dropping by -
                    Cheers

Take care all - wishing everyone steady and positive days.

Cold but sunny day today. Waiting for the warmup tomorrow.

TG…no worries about being away, you’ve had a lot to get organized. Glad they were able to finally give you the “fix”, I know what that’s like. Yes, those 20 year old boxes will bring back a lot of memories. Take it easy. All kinds of things are being dealt with at work finally.

Mick…sorry to hear about Julies Dad and hope everything is ok. You take care.

Pauly…good to see you’re still reading the thread and popping in now and then.

                            Good evening friends,

Just got home from the birthday(s) dinner celebration! It’s always nice to see the happy little family. We went to a good Italian place (not fancy but good food) near their house. My granddaughter downed an adult serving of ravioli with marinara sauce, several pieces of bread & various pickings from the charcuterie board & finished it all off with a cannoli, LOL. Growing kids & their appetites!!!!
Snow supposed to start at 3 am so I’m thinking no school tomorrow, we’ll see.

PQ, it was actually supposed to go up to 50 today but I’m not sure it actually did, still it was nice to be out. Sounds like you dodged a major bullet, good for you.
I think your workplace will keep on getting better if everyone is sticking to policies

Cyn, figured you were busy with all the work after the move in, there’s always lots to do.
Getting your internet squared away is vital these days. Do you get your internet thru your cable provider like we do? It’s easier that way I think. Funny the last few full moons didn’t bother me much but this current one sure did. Glad that’s over for a while. We’re expecting another ‘arctic blast’ of cold weather too, oh boy. I look forward to hearing from everyone on the thread & the occasional visitors too.

Mick, Hope everything is OK. Thinking of you & your family
I missed your post, glad PQ filled me in.

                            Pauly, good to see you!
Det & Sam, hello to as well.

                            Have a nice night all.

Hello how are we today then? Hope all is well. We eventually got away from the hospital last night at 9:30 p.m. Mr they couldn't make up their mind whether they were going to keep him in or not he has now been referred to a neurology specialist. So we are looking at reviewing the whole care plan for her dad, including the Social and medical needs which obviously need reviewing. The trouble is is there is such a shortage in shall we say the care industry that things are run on a shoe string if at all all. For instance we didn't know but found out this morning there is only one care company in the whole of Great Britain that will provide a hot meal, there are quite a few that will provide frozen meals etc but none that will provide a singular hot meal. And then there are the medical and social assessments that haven't been updated because the virus put everything on hold. We work it out somehow. I really cold day today the sun is out, but it has no heat in it. I put some plants in the ground yesterday but thankfully they seem to have survived ok.

Hiya lav so you missed me did you? at this point you can lie and say yes! Glad you had a good meal at the Italian I loved the food in Italy .hope you have a good day

Hiya ppqp how are you today then question mark hope everything is going well over there. I'm looking at getting the wood to make a raised bed with in the greenhouse but to be honest with you the wood has shot up in price so much it is unbelievable, but I have found a place where I can get d nailed pallet wood at a good price so I will build one out of the famous palettes! Is work still treating you ok? I hope so take care and have a nice day

Hiya teegee how are you today then hope all is well with you. I'm sure opening all those boxes will bring back memories some good some bad stay positive. Julie has just booked the campsites when we go around Scotland and also the ferry over to the western Isles. We're going to Fingal's Cave as well and puffin watching so there will be lots of photos. We are not going to lay pro the weather should have heated up by then take care are look after yourself.

Hiya pauly how are you today then? everything is doing ok how is work doing? Take care of you and yours

A big shout out to everyone else look after yourself and take care
