    MAE ALL...

Having a quiet weekend in preparation for the winter wallop on Monday night. Good thing is they're not expecting too much snow maybe 2 inches and the bitter cold is only here Wed & Thu. Then we're back up to above normal temps. The weather is certainly wacky.

Lav...glad you didn't get too much snow and I think your chickens are just wimps. LOL Mushroom soup and donuts, there's a combination I wouldn't have thought of. Yes, will definitely go ahead with the new laptop don't want to be in that position again.

TG...just glad it will be short lived. Usually the temperatures drop and stay that way for a month. I know what you mean about city driving being stressful. When I moved back to Calgary I was very nervous. Now it feels like I can do it in my sleep. You'll get there. Sending the sleep fairy your way for a good nights sleep.

Shout out to everyone else. Have a good day all....:smile:PPQP

      Greetings friends,

Sunny day here that melted some snow but it’s cold, in the teens. Approximately half of the chickens decided to go out today, the younger ones especially.
We ended up in the Natural Foods store in Newark, DE today where we are coop members. I find found a beautiful head of red cabbage & immediately sent a picture to Mick - just to make him jealous, haha!
I cut it in half & sauteed it with some onions & apple cider vinegar & a small spoonful of sugar - yum

Mick, I had one big serving left over, shame you couldn’t be here haha!!
Glad you’re sticking close to home while it’s so cold. Detecting is better in spring anyway, right? As far as the mushroom soup & donuts connection - there is none. You can begin to worry about me when I start making mushroom donuts though, LOL

PQ, hope your snow event isn’t too bad. We are supposed to warm up to near 60 at the end of this new week, yay!
I’m happy to see the end of January, spring is on the way (some day).

Cyn, glad you’re getting a weather break too.
Sleep has been kind of crappy since last week but was improved last night. I’ll get on the sleep fairy’s back & send her your way. I’m not a city driver either, only drove into Philly when I absolutely had to!!
There’s something to be said about living in cow country for me. Take good care!

Hello to Pauly & Det, hope your weekends were good.
Sam & Pie hello to you.

Time to get on my bike for 30 or 40 minutes & ride to nowhere!!!
      Have a nice night all.

Mae all, the far below post was from last night, but maybe it wasn’t seen by all, so re-posting... also i am worn out! Big, long work- day with much accomplished, thankfully...

Sleep was a little better last night , thank you all for your wishes... but i still wake up in the night... and the dreams i have been having CRAZY filled with sort of mythic, hollywood strange special effects... maybe the stress of the last 19 months on the road is finally finding a way out...

Glad you are happy with the garden plots and your plans, Mick... what a great feeling.

PPQ, well glad to near that this snap will be a shorter one... good luck tomorrow -

Lav, mushroom donuts... LOL! I thought of you tonight... i located some good Russian (though made in america?) dumplings and pierogies. Had little chicken dumplings tonight on a bed of arugula... it hit the spot...

det, what’s cooking? Pauly, hoping all is well in life and at the salon...

Shine everything up tomorrow! Lunar New Year coming!!!
        .....
        .....

Mick, your whole garden plan sounds wonderful! Sorry about the wind but glad that I didn’t come with rain as well. I love my mental picture of the rabbits sunbathig in the doorway... i wonder what conversation is about? Take care, and hoping that Julie’s dad is still doing okay.

Lav, yay that most of the snow missed you! Your chickens sound like they’ve gotten a bit spoiled with a less-snow winter. I know you are treating them well! Mushroom soup, sounds delish... i think that will be on the menu for tomorrow. Beautiful day here, it almost reached 50 - lots of people outside with no coats on! I’m grateful for a little break... and love a full day of sun!

PPQ, glad that you found the problem with your laptop, and glad that you’ve worked out getting a new one! Sorry about the change in weather... i guess you’ll habe to bundle up for awhile.. take care.

Greetings to Pauly, Det, and all who stop by...

I didn’t get my cleaning in today... did errands instead, and i am not used to this city driving yet, so that was stressful. Another poor night of sleep (this time awakened by a dream at 3:30 AM) i was still foggy and achey. Hoping for better sleep and energy to clean tomorrow!

        Wishing all well —-

Hello and how are we today then? Hope all is well well we are in the middle of the second storms this one is called Karina or something similar. Been playing in the greenhouse this morning, just checking what plants are going where. I have also just bought some new equipment for taking photographs no not a camera! But a thing called a DJI om4 full stop it is absolutely fantastic for taking pictures but I need to practice obviously full stop in a nutshell what it is is, it is a handheld grip with with gyroscope gimbals fitted to it which takes away any movement when you are taking pictures videos or anything like that at the clarity of the pictures is unbelievable as is the steadiness very similar to those selfie sticks only this is fully motorised and gives you the facility to do videos photographs time-lapse videos and all sorts of weird and wonderful things. So now I have the Drone for the overhead pictures and a decent handheld device for my Samsung S10. Both rabbits adult to snow but I am going to get them in in very shortly the sky has really darkened up. Had a bit of a discussion or debate with my dental surgery today day. I had to phone up and book a check-up, and the receptionist tried to fob me off off with one of the other dentists. I explained I usually see the main man, bearing in mind here's the one that did all my implants, and she says he does not do check ups. I explained her ever so nicely that it might be better if she went and spoke to the man himself, and strangely enough I have an appointment with him on the 23rd of March. Still no red cabbage over here though I had to have some spare topsoil! Hope everyone is doing ok just nipping out to get the rabbits in it is pouring

            Greetings friends,

Still bellow freezing here but sunny & dry so I guess I’ll live, haha!

Cyn, glad you got some sleep but I know dreams can be intense & disruptive. I had another night where I was awake as much as I slept, not good. I’m hoping for much better sleep for both of us this lunar new year. Finding any kind of pierogie anywhere is a blessing, Lol. They have always been my soul food & I could live on them, honestly. Hope your day was easy.

Mick, good luck with the storms. I guess you’re getting all rain, no snow. You have a knack for finding unusual toys to keep yourself occupied. When you figure it out post a video of your garden & rabbits.
I pitched a fit at my dentist office too a while ago about seeing a new associate. He was very young & looked scared to death & I just told him No thanks & left. I think he’s gone now, thank goodness.
I don’t want to make you jealous but the red cabbage was very good. Do you think FedEx would deliver one to you from me? Hahha.

Hello to PQ, hope your day was good & you didn’t get much snow!

Hellos to Pauly, Det, Sam & Pie.

            Have a nice night all!

              MAE ALL...

TG...glad you got a lot accomplished, it makes the long workday worthwhile. Maybe it'll help with the sleep. Maybe you're right about the stress over the last 19 months is coming out through the dreams. I've been having strange dreams as well.

Mick...another gadget for you. I checked out the DJI om4 and that looks ace. I'm sure you'll get some great pics/videos on the next trip. Good for you sticking to your guns with the dentist. After everything you've been through I wouldn't see an associate either.

Lav...no snow yet, it's supposed to start tonight. It was friggin cold out there with a north wind gusting to 60mph, just miserable. I hate those nights when you're awake as much as you sleep. Hope you get a better sleep tonight.

It was a full, busy day and like TG I did get a lot accomplished. Not looking forward to what the weather will bring for the morning but what can you do. Shout out to the rest. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

                Mae all,

Mick congrats on your purchase! I couldn’t even grasp what it was from your description!? i will look forward to seeing the results... hopefully especially on that famous railway trip... Sorry about your rain, but glad you got the rabbits in safely. I must find a new dentist in this town, and soon... must buckle down and get that done...

PPQ, geez, what weather... eeek. Crossing fingers that tomorrow will be better, or the next day, or the next...

Lav, maybe it is this Lunar New Year coming upon us... i am so lucky that i have rarely had long-term sleep disturbance... but this is a new place, so maybe all will eventually settle out — I’m saying that it will! Wish i could tolerate cabbage nowadays... your recipe of vinegary red cabbage sounds delish... but i’ll content myself with the pirogies. Stay warm out there!

Well, after another interrupted night of sleep, and strange dreams (glad i am writing them down...) i had a bang-up day of dusting, vacuuming, and polishing up anything i could get my hands on. Ready for the Lunar New Year, and can use all the good fortune that will come my way... and it might help me sleep. Though i cleaned the apartment thoroughly (as you remember) before i moved in, I haven’t cleaned since, and it is a very dusty place (forced-air) so hopefully the dusting and vacuuming will lend a hand to a good nights rest.

Wishing all a peaceful night and a lovely start to a New Year tomorrow!

                Hello to all dropping by...

White rabbits and how are we all today then question mark first day of February soon be Christmas! Hope everyone is well. It is still very windy over here, we are still in this storm. Went into the loft this morning how to clean the rail tracks and even with the insulation it was absolutely freezing full stop so the trains are cancelled today.

Hiya lav and how are you today then? All well I hope I'm not sure FedEx I would deliver a single red cabbage from the US of A! But thanks for the thought. I am still trying to master the new gadget, I have taken a couple of pictures but it has got all sorts of variations you can do with them too 2. The trouble is the manual is pretty rubbish and the tell you to go on YouTube full stop that's fine but when you go onto YouTube you you look at one person who tells you something then another then another and start getting confused! No great hardship for me what are you up to today then? Still doing embroidery orders or is that seasonal? Take care have a lovely afternoon

Hiya ppqp and how are you today then? Hope all is well over there. Yes another gadget that I have got to get used to 2 but to be honest with you although it confuses me I enjoy it and I know I will get there eventually. Did you get the snow? How is work doing for you? Hope it is still as good. Take care

Hiya teegee and how are things over there today then? hope you're doing ok did you manage to get any rest? Hope so. Take care and have a lovely day don't do too much!

Right folks time to go. Take care all

                    Re: 30 Jan ...

                    Good evening friends,

Fairly nice day but Arctic air is moving back in so whatever melted out there today will be freezing up overnight, ugh. It doesn’t really bother me anymore but I do worry about my kids traveling on the interstate for work. Mothers never really stop worrying I guess. I had to run out to the vet’s office to pick up thyroid medication for my chubby dog & stopped at the grocery store for a few things. Made a pot of soup, sat & paid the month’s bills online & reheated leftovers for dinner. Such a glamorous life , LOL

PQ, hope the snow wasn’t too bad & hope you had a good day.

Cyn, the year of the tiger is here
I slept better last night so I have more ambition today. Hope your sleep improves too.
Since my Mom was Polish we ate a lot of cabbage growing up. I can find many uses for it & even hide it in certain dishes if necessary. My kids like it too so I guess I did something right.
I purchased a few of those new things you plug in - one in each room that’s supposed to help filter dust. They glow blue in the dark, make nice night lights. Maybe try one or two in your bedroom?

Mick, I imagine an unheated attic space would be quite cold this time of year. Your trains don’t mind waiting another couple of months.
I forgot to look up your new gadget, I’ll do that tonight. I’m sure it will keep you entertained & out of trouble. I actually mad eJanuary an embroidery free month! Thought it was time for a break. Not sure what’s coming up as far as craft fairs this year - that remains to be seen.

Hello to the rest of the gang & wishing everyone a nice night!

                      MAE ALL…

TG…the only good thing about the weather today was the winds weren’t as extreme but it was colder at -17C/1F. Very little snow and what we had was the light fluffy stuff. Hope all that re-cleaning helped your sleep last night.

Mick…only you would bring up Christmas at a time like this. LOL I bet that wind made the loft extra cold. Work is going great! It’s so nice to have my job defined and know where I stand. It’s been interesting watching the boss evaluate the staff as days go on. We have had a lot of impromptu candid conversations and he just keeps reinforcing the fact that we are on the same page.

Lav…we’ll be getting the arctic air first with our overnight low at -27C/-16F. It will be frigid tomorrow morning! Thankfully very little snow and this weather is supposed to move on tomorrow night. I had a very good day, it’s amazing how much satisfaction I get out of my job now that I know what it is. LOL

Got my new laptop today and my IT guy actually loaded up all the programs and remote access on it before bringing it in. I had planned on installing software off and on all day today. I’m looking forward to playing with it but feel a load of stress off my shoulders knowing that when my current laptop bites the dust I’m covered.

Missing the rest of the gang and hope you’re all ok. Have a good night all….:smile:PPQP

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is well. The winds have died down out there now, it is very overcast and that really fine rain you know the stuff that gets you wet?. Julie is down at Her dad's just now she is meeting the head honcho from the care company. There are some issues that definitely need to be ironed out in addition to this he is also talking and looking at getting extra support in as well. I've just been and done the shopping, and yes still no red cabbage in the shops full stop in actual fact when I went round this morning, there were quite a few vacancies on the shelves there isn't a shortage of food just selective items. I'm just about to make leek potato and lentil soup

Hiya ppqp how are you today then? 2 things well done on getting at the new computer don't do a me on it and drop it down the stairs! Glad your weather is on the Change however don't be sending it this way thank you very much. Hope you have a good day

Hiya lav how are you today? Hope all is well with you? So you jumped on the bandwagon as well did you? We had drink free January meat-free January and you with embroidery free January. Got my pneumonia jab this morning, it would have been nicer if she had used a needle with a bit of a point on it as opposed to a brush handle. Have you seen the latest over here? They they have suddenly decided that's for nurses and care workers the mandatory booster is no longer necessary full stop that is obviously based on pure scientific and medical evidence as opposed to a massive shortage and people leaving from both services yeah right. Got a buddleia bush this morning first shoots are starting to come through on it. Hope you have a good day

Hiya teegee how are you today. Hope you are good

                          Greetings everyone,

Woke up to fog outside but it cleared out by lunch time. Then the temp hit 49 degrees, felt like Spring
Now we get rain all day tomorrow & the cold air & possibly ice arrive on Friday - ho hum. Made a ride up to town today to grab a few things from Walmart. Just as I was finishing putting everything away at home my grandson called asking if I could give him a ride home from school, haha. So I made the trip to town again to get him, dropped him off at his house then drove back home again. Nice to be free & able to jump in when needed.

PQ, geez with temps that low you really didn’t need any snow. I’m glad your job has gotten better for you. All it took was getting rid of a bad boss, haha!!!
Enjoy that new laptop, hope you get to play with it soon. I just updated mine to Windows 11 last night.

Mick, I hope things got squared away for Julie’s Dad. It’s hard making sure all the bases are covered but if a senior can stay in his own home longer, that’s the best thing really.
I used some lentils today to make vegan breakfast sausage - interesting!! They get baked then browned up in a frying pan a little, I liked them but will be make a few changes next time. I have to remember I still have half of a red cabbage in my fridge. I’ll do something with it in a day or two

Hello to Cyn, hope your day was good!

                            Mae all,

Well, i hope everyone is keeping warm and toasty, wherever you are. I just went to pick up a package here at the complex, and as it was right next door to the exercise room.... yes, Lav, i did a workout on the exercise bike! You inspired me. But the walk back to my building was brutal... later I heard later that the windchill is -13 F. Well that explains that!

Mick, glad that you did not try to work on the trains with numb hands! Hopefully soon the days will be warmer. Good luck with the new gadget... I couldn’t even understand your explanation of what it does! Good for you for always learning new things, very admirable! Have fun with all your interesting endeavors...

Lav, just to let you know.. i treasure my cardinal pillow, and recently a friend saw it in a pic i sent of my Living Room, and said “that is so cute!” So, even when you are not embroidering, your work is admired! The red image is a great Feng Shui symbol, and in fact, i got a couple of little decorative cardinals and added them to a little wreath i have on my door (plus some “faux” ladybugs...) hoping that you have a warming trend soon...

I finally had a complete night of sleep !! Victory! But still had strange dreams... i have been scribbling them down while half-awake, so perhaps someday i’ll look back and see a pattern...

PPQ, hoping that you are okay and warm...

Pauly and DET, always thinking of you and hoping all is well.

Greetings to all who drop by, and hoping we can all embrace this new energy of the Tiger!

                            Cheers, wishing all well -

Hello all and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing well well I've been out and back garden playing with my new toy this morning I need to concentrate more I need to learn to walk before I run a sad failing of mine. The energy commission have said as from today day household bills will go up for energy by about £50 per month. A lot of people are going to struggle with this it is because Gas electricity and even fossil fuels are so expensive.

Hiya ppqp how are you today then? Hope everything is going ok ok. How are you getting on with the new computer? Take care stay safe and warm

Hiya lav how are you today then? Hope all is well Julie had a long discussion with them yesterday day over Her dad's care. One of the big things that has happened a lot of the carers and indeed the managers have left because of the ruling that in the Caring profession bozo Boris originally said that they all needed the booster. In the Caring profession including nurses they are now up to 40000 less staff in post. Now that they have rescinded that decision I don't know whether they will come back. In the main she got the care sorted out that he needs. Up Julie says she actually felt sorry for the manager that came out an interesting comment when you balance it against her dad's care. Once you get the recipe for the lentil sausages sorted out you need to post it for me I fancy a shot at that. Yes, yet again yesterday I looked for red cabbage non available but you have got spare so best of luck to you... I will just go out and plant something in my spare top soil in the greenhouse haha full stop you take care and have a great afternoon
