    MAE ALL…

Been enjoying the spring like weather with getting out and walking. Out of habit clicked on the office email and then immediately said NO! and closed it. LOL This is a no thinking of work weekend.

TG…exhausted from physical activity is a good thing. Wish I could send you a move-in fairy. I’m sure hearing your beloved’s work will be very emotional. I hope over time it will bring you peace and a warm feeling of love. Wow, look at you go getting office stuff organized. I hear you about getting on a tangent. Hope your brunch went great and that the pictures got hung.

Mick…hope you’re enjoying the detecting with sunshine. I’m glad Amy hasn’t gotten any flak for doing what was right. Sorry to hear about the stomach issues. I’ve been going through something similar and am actually scheduled for an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy later this month. Not looking forward to that but feel it’s necessary to see what’s going on. I am not doing the summer program unless by raise is worth it!!

Lav…doesn’t the sun make all the difference! I thought Calgary was the pothole capital! Feels like job security to me, patch them up and then redo them next spring. I agree about the other idiots on the road, that’s always my concern. Yesterday firefighters were heading to a call in a small town south of us and one of the trucks hit black ice and rolled. The driver was killed and the fire chief was injured. So sad, the community is rallying around the family.

Thinking of the rest of the gang. Have a good day all…..:smile:PPQP

hiya all how are we doing then?..hope all is well with you .Ppqp thanks for starting the fred up ...Today wasn't a great success for me ...I actually didn't want to be there.Felt pretty rough ..My stomach was ok ,but I had a cup of coffee before I left home ...on the way my stomach started knotting..so I stayed in the car till it eased off ,,,and took some tablets ..So now on the banned list for me are coffee ,fizzy drinks ,wholemeal bread ..its a case of trial and error ..
The weather turned bad ...it absolutely hammered down with rain ...and the wind was brutal ..at one stage ...I was standing at 45 degrees ...and I never found anything....
Sorry to hear about the fire bobbies ..one gone and one injured going to the aid of others .glad folk are ralllying round .

hope everyone else is doing ok ...Lav you aint going to believe this ..the guy I got the topsoil from messaged me tonight to see if I wanted any more ...another 10 bags,,Ive said yes ...shall I freight them?

        Greetings friends,

Mick, I’ll gladly take all the bags of soil you don’t need, Lol
Sorry your detecting day wasn’t the best. Btw - YB has been off coffee for the past 2 weeks or so & he claims to feel mostly better. Maybe try some decaf in the future? Getting old sure isn’t for sissies

PQ, sorry you have the stomach troubles too. I went through it all years ago & decided what foods to quit. As long as I stick to my ‘safe list’ I’m OK.
That’s really sad about the firefighters. I’ve never heard of a firetruck flipping like that on ice, geez. Some of these machines are so huge & expensive these days. Where my son works they recently purchased a tower/ladder truck that cost 1 million dollars. Glad you stuck to your guns & kept the weekend work free. We had sun & cold again today & less wind so it was better.

Cyn, saw you post from last night. I hope the brunch went well & your pictures are hanging where you want them. Sorting out office stuff the same time you’re putting your place together must be tiring.
The Amish kid (16) is actually doing a sort of apprenticeship on another Amish farm up in Lancaster. He’s learning everything you need to know about taking care of the horses & I think they are making harnesses or some such thing. All of the amish kids are finished school by 14 & then they have to figure out what they want to do & find someone who will teach them the trades. They are SO different from our young teens. I’’m thinking of my grandson who will turn 14 this year & he has no direction or drive to be jumping into a trade yet, haha!!!

Hello to Pauly & Det. Det, love your pics on FB today
Hello to Sam, where are you these days?

        Have a nice night all!

          Re: Feb 6

Hello all - here's me from last night:

          "Mae all,

Lav, i saw you were on at the same time i was, and wanted to wait to see what you had to say... then i got on a tangent, trying to make sense of my office stuff... now almost 9:30 pm, and here i am. I did put together 2 cubbies that have 4 squares each... i was a little nervous putting them together, as they did not seem like they would be sturdy, but in the end, they have worked out fine and are holding alot. So, one more cluttered corner has a home, but a few boxes need to go int storage... if i can fit them... it is getting nearly full. My brain is worn out from choosing, finding places, wondering if i should keep documents (my business). But it’s done for now.

I have my first guests tomorrow... i’m hosting my brother and sister-in-law for brunch. That kept my motivation pretty high today, as the office/den is also the dining room! So we’ll see how well my desk/dining table works. My brother is very artistic and has a great eye, so he will also hang my pictures for me... thank heavens. One less thing to try to figure out.

Mick, glad to hear about Amy’s house - Cross fingers it all works out. And good for her for reporting the doc! Wow, thank goodness for nurses that guard our health - and what was that doc thinking? I guess he for got the “do no harm” part of the job. I hope your tum feels better... even though it is supposed to be healthy, i can’t tolerate a lot of fiber in baked things... i eat white sourdough and call it quits. (Mmmm... i have found some sourdough english muffins, yum). I hope your weather turns out to be good for detecting... enjoy.

PPQ, i hope that (now you and your twin are done working double-time to meet your deadline ) and hope you were able to get some rest today and also will on Sunday - you deserve it! I also hope you have a little warmer air on the way.

Lav it’s funny to me that the Amish son can work for the “english” as long as he can get a ride... seems a little convoluted, but whatever. How do their horses do in the cold? I guess horses have been doing that forever...lol. I promise that i will slow down soon... things are coming better into focus... i just don’t do well when I can’t find things, or there are heaps and unidentified pikes around. Getting there...

I hope that all are doing well -sending greetings to Pauly, Det, and Sam... and all others that drop by... last night i saw the moon, low in the sky in the west... it seemed huge! Like a hollywood film or something - so very beautiful. This physical world we inhabit is amazing... cheers all -

          ---
          Today:
So, I hauled more stuff downstairs to my storage so we could have a balanced view to hang pictures... by brother hung the heavy ones, and we decided on positions for the rest. It was great to have a good eye. And yes, I managed a brunch - goodness, that took a lot out of me - I am totally out of practice feeding other people! It's interesting with my brother... he is 7 years older than I am, so we didn't really get to know each other while I was growing up. We have had a "holidays" relationship over all these years... but now I think we will become closer. Somehow the gap between 65 and 72 doesn't seem so big - plus he keeps himself in good health, exercising, etc. so he seems younger than he is. Hoping that I can ease into this "family" thing... but we had a nice time today, and I am so grateful for his help... my sister-in-law was even complimentary (!). She's a live wire...

Sending wishes for warmth, ease and happiness to all -

Hello everyone and how are we today then question mark hope everyone is doing well. It is raining today yet another variety of rain the very fine stuff that gets you wet! Stomach was doing ok this morning no great issues, however had a bacon sandwich on white bread, and all of a sudden it knotted up and cramps not going into great detail but put it this way leaving the house is not really an option! So now I'm going to starve myself for 24-hours and case it is just a bug.

Hiya teegee how are you today then? Hope everything is good with you you best of luck with your guests today hope it all goes well for you. Take care and look after yourself

Hiya lav and how are you today then? Hope all is well with you I was going to wash the van down today but but not going to happen in the rain I don't think! As for the coffee I don't think I'd die in a ditch if I never drank it again in any format as long as I can get a cup of tea I'm happy I had one this morning and I didn't seem to affect my stomach early Doors. A million dollars for a ladder truck wow how long is the ladder does it take you to the moon? I often wonder what it would have been like if I had joined and the fire brigade as opposed to the prison service I had passed for both and it was a flip of a coin that decided considering three of my cousins were all fire bobbies in Glasgow it makes sense I do stupid things all my family history have been Royal Navy comma my dad did 30 odd years in The Royal Navy and so did his dad and yet I join the army haha take care and look after yourself

Hiya ppqp how are you today then. Hope all is well with you best of luck with the endoscopy I remember getting one of them in the past and watching it on the television screen probably the worst program I have ever seen on telly! Are you back in work today question mark hope all is well there with you take care look after yourself

Right folks time to go. Take care x

Heya ABers, managing to survive here despite a rough go. No AL in sight at least, and just back from a morning gym workout.
I simply don't have the coping skills or fortitude to keep living with a 15yo tyrant, but I can't currently afford to move anywhere so here I am.

Mick, maybe go gluten-free for 30 days as an experiment?

endoscopy? oh my, yet another thing I prolly need to get done when I can get insurance.

Lav, thanks much on the FB photos.

well, off to drum-up biz and not let myself wallow in a pity party. off to the races.

                Evening greetings Abbers,

It was a not so frosty & partly sunny day here, not bad. Looking forward to later in the week when we’re in the 50’s, woo hoo!!!
I signed up for a vendor fair today on April 30 being held at the local golf club. Now I have some reason to get back into my workshop & get stitching. We will be away all day tomorrow. YB has a fire co meeting back in our old town & I will be hanging out with the daughter after she finishes up her morning work. Maybe we can go get some lunch somewhere, that would be nice.

Cyn, so glad you are re-connecting with your family. My oldest brother was 8 years older. He joined the air force right out of high school at 17 so I really didn’t get to start to know him until he was discharged 4 or 5 years later. Your art work is in place, things are looking good for you. Your family ‘energy’ will return, I’m sure

Mick, sorry you’re going through all the gut issues. They really do sound familiar to me (been there & done that). Trying to figure out what to eat & what to stay away from is challenging. I remember eating a roast beef sandwich 20 years ago & feeling like my gut was going to rip open, ugh. I haven’t had one since of course. Go for the low fiber stuff, white bread, peanut butter, mashed potatoes, etc. Bananas work great if you have loose bowels - truly. Hope you catch a break soon! I’ll see if I can find a pic of that new ladder truck & send it to you. Don’t forget they have to deal with high rise fires!!

Det, sorry you are still having troubles with the teen. She sounds pretty extreme. Teens can be annoying but they usually aren’t that bad.
Glad you are finding new work, yur ics have been awesome.

PQ, hope your day was good!

Pauly, hope your day was good as well.

Hello to anyone else &wishing us all a nice night.

                  MAE ALL...

After last week today was pretty quiet, probably why it seemed to drag. It was around 12C/53F today but very windy. Going to be even warmer tomorrow. Worried about the ice in the hockey rink as the school wants to do a 3 day Winter Carnival. May not happen.

Mick...sorry about your tummy problems, I can relate. Maybe it's an age thing. So does bacon make the no eat list? Sounds very similar to what is happening with me. There's been times I couldn't leave the house either. Endoscopy is not scheduled till later this month. Will be doing a phone consult with the doc on Wednesday. Good luck with the 24hr starvation diet.

Lav...some of those truck are very expensive. It was a rural area where they were and with the warmer temps and extreme winds the road was just turned into a skating rink. A vendor fair in April, will it be indoors? Isn't it great that you can meet up with your daughter while doing these firehall trips? Hope you find a nice place for lunch.

TG...when you're not used to putting on a brunch/meal it can take a lot out of you. Well done. I agree, as we get older those age gaps don't seem to make much difference anymore. I think it's great that you can reignite the relationship and get even closer.

Det...sorry you're still having a tough time with girly but glad to hear no AL. I was hoping things were getting better. Good luck with drumming up more biz.

Not sure what to put in my tummy anymore, maybe a soft boiled egg over mashed potatoes. Wishing everyone a good night....:smile:PPQP

Hello all - posting in my phone, so hope it “sticks”. Mick, so sorry for the tummy troubles... I had to back things way down and go onto a FODMAPS diet for awhile., it healed a lot of things, but I’m still careful - no whole-grains or beans for me, thx anyway. Best of luck in this elimination process.
Dear DET, so sorry for your. I can hear your anguish in your writing. Glad that you are doing beautiful work - I will figure out how to see you on FB. Sending you best of luck vives, and congrats on staying AF.
Lav, glad that you got to see your daughter. Exciting that you have a show to prep for - and a nice preview of spring!! We hit 57 today - I hit an outside walk in, around the ornamental lake here at the apartments.., had a nice chat with all the geese 😉.
PPQ, of course it seems slow to you now! Take it and cherish it. Weird that the warm weather is endangering the ice rink, who would have thought... take care -

Pauly, how’s work these days? Hoping that all is well...

Okay folks, I’m early to bed... only a handful of hours of sleep last night...

                    Wishing all well -

hiya teegee ....yep the phone worked ...well done .I dont know what caused or is causing this .did you sleep better last night?

hiya ppqp...nope bacon hasnt hit that list ..yet ..its a long process this is .but I guess you know that !!sounds a bit dodgy on the ice rink ..if it all goes pear shaped you could have a swimming gala take care

hiya Lav ,how are you today then? hope all is well ..so its back to the embroidery for the gala is it? so Im now a member of the triple T ..the troubled tummy team. Im keeping a diary it reads like a patients logfile .hopefully they will never have to use the ladder rig for no more than rescuing cats in trees ,but when you get the likes of Grenfell being prepared is a massive plus .hope you have a good day with your daughter .

hiya Det ..long time friend ...I hear what you are saying ,,,I cant wont and shouldnt preach to you ....but just think of it ...why did you get together with your good lady ..its for the 2 of you to enjoy life ....together ..ok she came as part of the deal..I cant say they all are ...but most teenage girls think they know it all ...but in addition to that nowadays a good majority of young un s think the world owes them a living .Somewhere there will be a strategy that works ..its the finding it .think about it buddy...but a top job in not getting into the falling down juice .See ...you never thought you would do that ...but you did ...

                      take care .

                        Good evening friends,

Well, there was a change of plans this morning. My daughter couldn’t get away from work in time to meet up with me so I stayed home. I did hop. In the car & went to the supermarket for a few things. The eye doctor is located in the same area so I stopped in to make an appointment since I’m a few months overdue. Turns out they had an opening so Igot to see the doc. I told her about the difficulty I had with my BP & changing meds so many times. And I told her my left eye has been blurry thru all this despite wearing my glasses. She did the regular exam then did some extra testing & it turns out she thinks I may have had a mini stroke (eye stroke) during that time when my BP was so high, ugh! There’s no corrective lenses that can fix that either so I’m going back on Thursday for even more testing & she hopefully can determine the real cause of the blurriness. Getting old truly does suck
Other than that, it was a nice day, sunny & warming up as predicted.

PQ, glad you have. The improved weather too. I would say the skating event probably doesn’t have a chance, haha!!!

Cyn, glad you have the great weather too. It’s a nice chance to get out & about! The vendor fair on April 30 will be indoors which is good.

Det, hope your day was good & you got to do whatever you wanted to do

Pauly, Sam & anyone else looking in - hello!

                        Have a nice night all!

                          MAE ALL...

Well just had a very frustrating call from my doctor's office. I guess after my test this morning the pulmonary clinic sent a preliminary report to my Dr. marked urgent. My Dr. isn't in today so the Doc who sees her patients called. She wanted a whole history of what's been going on with me geeze! She was very hard to understand on the phone because of course she was wearing a mask. She said can you come in and see your doctor tomorrow and I said no. I've been to 4 Dr. appts already and have the upcoming endoscopy. I don't need to hear "you have to quit smoking" again and if they think I'll wear portable oxygen I won't. Left it with a phone consult with my regular doctor next Tuesday with the promise that if things got worse I would come in. Unless I am exerting myself like carrying groceries from the car up the stairs I'm ok. Sorry had to get that out.

TG...not clicking back as I'll lose this post but I hope you get a better sleep tonight.

Mick...I'll gladly give up the ice rink if it means an early spring. Hope you can sort out what's going on with the tummy.

Lav...glad your April vendor event is indoors, you just never know. Lucky you getting in to see your eye doctor but wow, a mini eye stroke! My right eye has been blurry but it's because my cataracts are growing back. Getting old really does suck!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Have a peaceful night all....:smile:PPQP

                              MAE ALL...

It's been a good day, nice and steady so went by pretty quick. The government is easy restrictions starting with not having to show proof of vaccinations today. He's lifting the mask mandate for kids in school starting on Monday which has upset a few parents. This is totally political!

Mick...Now you've made me hungry and a poached egg sounds pretty good for supper. I don't think Julie would object if you did get someone to do the gutters, roof and facias! Yes, I really have to quit the smoking. I'm going to go cold turkey using the patch, want to be smoke free for 5 days before I talk with my regular doctor on Tuesday.

Will check back later and see who else stops in. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP
