    11 September

    Hello all...

Firstly in memory of those who lost their lives in the twin towers bombings ...to the survivors, we hope you have found some sort of peace in life

Hiya all how are we doing today?hope all is well. Went up to see the possible new van today, doing some measuring up etc.apart from that not done a lot. Watched the coffin of the Queen being taken from Balmoral to Holyrood where she will lie in state till the service in St Giles kirk. Very sombre, it's still hard to believe she has gone .that seems to echo throughout over here.

Hiya lav.hows you then today,?I am sorry to hear about your neice, drugs are the same as booze issues..unless the person themselves admits they have a problem, it's a non starter. As you say,the overriding thing is to get drugs irrespective of feelings or consequences. I hope she sees the light before she screws her health and family up

Ppqp how's you then today?hope all is well for you what are you up to this weekend whatever it is...enjoy

Hiya teegee, hope all is good with you.

    Big shout to everyone else

    MAE ALL…

I did end up popping into work for a little while today. Just needed to be ready for the start of my programs tomorrow. Just as well I did as we discovered a heater had been left turn on and at full blast. I suspect it could be the little kids turning the knob when they go out that door.

TG…next week has got to be easier than last week. LOL Hopefully everybody will actually show up for work. LOL Hope you’re getting some much deserved rest.

Mick…so is the heatwave over? All the talk about the Queen and why it is affecting people so much is that everyone felt she was their grandmother. Even though it was expected I was sad when she pasted too. I’m glad you were feeling better yesterday, I bet you were weary, tired and generally exhausted. Sounds like the van you looked at on Saturday might be a fit for you. I’ve been watching all the coverage of the Queen today too. Other than popping into work for an hour or so I haven’t been up to much. The heat is back this weekend so it’s indoors for me again. I really hope we get a nice fall and don’t just go straight into winter.

Lav…did you end up having a rain day? Sorry to hear about your niece and I know how hard it can be to keep your mouth shut. So you’ve said your peace, he’s probably heard it from others, and now you can just be there to support him and listen. I’m sure it’s weighing very heavy on your heart. Most of my weekend has been peaceful and I’ve enjoyed watching all the history stories about the Queen. I’ve been thinking of my twin a lot as she was a huge fan of the Queen. Hope you’re having a good day.

Waves to Det, Sam and Pauly.

BBQ steak and veggies on the menu tonight. We were going to have it yesterday but everybody seemed to eat late in the day so didn’t. Glad we didn’t because I’m really looking forward to it tonight.

    Have a good night all….:smile:PPQP

      Re: 11 September

      Good evening friends,

Yep, it rained all day & the high temp was only 72 degrees - nice
I’ve been running back & forth between my workshop & the TV in the kitchen to watch the news about the queen. She definitely had a good & long life.
My niece on the other hand is in the process of cutting hers short, I know she is. Being hospitalized this past week is a definite sign she’s way over the edge. Her parents have. Given her til Sept 30 to clear her belongings out of the house they provided for her. She’s been out of work these past several years & not attempted to help pay the mortgage. My brother & his wife are using up their retirement funds to support this addict. Don’t know where she will go but I guess it doesn’t even matter at this point. Her 3 boys will be staying with my brother until at least February & hopefully be adopted. No one in our family can take these 3 young boys, we’re all too old. Such a shame. I’m trying not to let all this get to me but it’s so sad.

Mick, that van looks like a winner, I hope you can get it & travel in happiness

PQ, it’s true when someone dies I automatically start thinking about others who have passed like my mom. She was a big fan of the queen too.
Good thing you got in to turn the heat down before the building melted, haha! I think that thermostat needs a wire cage placed over it so they can’t get to it anymore.
I defrosted a pork tenderloin, sliced it into medallions, seasoned it all with S&P, paprika, garlic powder & thyme. Cooked them 3 minutes in a cast iron skillet, flipped them for another 3 minutes until done. Made a pan sauce with chicken broth & a touch of non-dairy butter - pretty darn good & quick. Veggies were steamed in the microwave, easy

Cyn, glad you are home safe & sound & hope you are adjusting to staying put for a bit.

Hello to the rest of the crew & wishing everyone a nice night!!
      Lav

Hiya all. How are we doing today?pouring with rain here today. Nipped to the shops earlier .there is a really strange atmosphere..I have never ever seen it like this. Sombre music being played through the shops, people going about their business but there is a quietness Bells in the churches tolling..
Hopefully get the new van the end of this week .
Just watching her majesty being taken to St Giles kirk.

Hiya ppqp..how are you doing?hope all is well with youYes the heatwave is now history.
Don't know why everyone is so upset about the Queens passing, from my own perspective, I feel a sadness. She was my boss, she was also Colonel in Chief of my regiment. I have met her formally and done a good few ceremonial parades.I think despite different attitudes towards the monarchy, she was a part of the majority of this nations life Every ex forces person swore an oath of loyalty to her,and fiercely proud of that .
How is work doing?are things working out OK for you?take care and look after yourself.

Hiya lav big hugs to you .I know you must be sad over your nice and what's happening. Unless she sees the hurt she has and is causing, it won't change.
That sounds like a great recipe. What made me smile was the cast iron skillet...for some reason I thought of the Waltons..sorry!
        You take care.

Hiya teegee how are you doing?hope all is good. Are you resting now?

          Good evening folks,

Clouds, rain but cooling temps so it’s OK.
Met with 3 old work friends for lunch, had a great catch up. It’s amazing that we’re all still functioning since we worked like dogs all those years haha!

Mick, great news about the van! I know you will put it to good use
The queen is still very much in the news here as well. Listening to NPR on the car radio today I heard people over there interviewed about the queen’s passing. Some are wishing William was chosen to be king in place of his father. That surprised me a bit but I think I understand their reasoning. I haven’t had any more news from my brother but that’s just as well. It takes time to process & accept this reality. I know drugs have been & will continue to destroy families. I wish I could shake them all & change their minds, really convince them they can live better lives without the substances.

PQ, hope your Monday was OK.

          Cyn, hope you are well!

Hello to all & wishing everyone a nice night!

            MAE ALL...

Man, I didn't think my days could get any busier, I was wrong! Could have done without the software upgrade and then a 2 hour team meeting! Never did get the newsletter out so that will be the first thing I do tomorrow.

Mick...I was so busy I never looked at my phone once today. When Lav said Great news about the van I had to stop and open Facebook. Wow, what an upgrade! I'm sure you'll enjoy your travels more knowing that it's not going to konk out on you. You definitely have room for me now. LOL It never really dawned on me that the Queen was your boss, but of course she was. I think it's nice that you were able to meet her formally. She sure left her mark on your nation.

Lav...cooling temps are ok but around here you got to be careful what you wish for. There's already been snow in higher elevations. Great getting out for lunch with friends, keep it up. I don't know the terminology but there was a time when the Queen was to proclaim/announce who would be (name?) meaning they'd be next for the throne. (Maybe Mick can help me out with the words.) I was hoping it would be William but it wasn't. Maybe it was just a formality as Charles was always next in line. I'm sure your brother is going through a whole host of emotions at this time. It would have been hard to give the Sep 30th deadline but something that had to be done it sounds like.

TG...so sorry to hear you had a fall. I've had my foot go to sleep like that but fortunately realized it before putting any weight on it. Hope you didn't do too much damage. Thanks for the calm vibes I can sure use everything to chill out. I am going to repost your Sunday post next so everyone sees it. Hope your day was brighter today.

Since one of the new part time hires had a family emergency I have to head back to work tonight and open the building for one of my new long term renters. I will give her a set of keys and show her the procedure but then I can just head home. The boss on the other hand has to stay tomorrow night to let the another new long term renter in, who will not get keys, so he'll stay till 9pm. I got the better deal. It will soon sort itself out and the part time staff will deal with evening renters/programs.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

              TG'S POST FROM YESTERDAY.....

Quick Sunday night hello... I don’t have TV, so I have done a lot of reading of articles about the Queen, and the changing hands of power. While reading, I apparently had been sitting incorrectly on my left leg, so when I got up to walk to the kitchen, I fell flat... my left foot had gone completely to sleep... we’ll see how badly I turned it... crazy!

Lav, such a sadness for your brother... AL and drugs are some of the most evil things on earth... causing people to lose touch with themselves... I’m sending your niece Light... maybe she can still walk away...

Mick, well done on the Van exchange, that’s amazing! And good job on the tomatoes...
I hope the rabbits are happy you are home.

PPQ, so sorry for all the hubbub that you have to endure... I’m sending calm vibes for everything to chill out...

I seem to still be quite tired from my trip... i did take a nice evening walk (before I turned my ankle)... hoping that tomorrow will be a bit brighter...

Take care all - Sam, hoping things are well with you - hello to Pauly and Det and all dropping by...

              Take care,
              TG

                Re: 11 September

Thank you for moving my post, PPQ!!

All about the same today for me... still dealing with a strange tiredness, but it lifted somewhat after a well-timed cup of coffee in the early afternoon. I actually got a lot done - it’s so hard to catch up on all the mail, correspondence, bills... I was gone for 7 weeks... never again!

I’m still wishing that I had TV so that I could see all the Queen’s tributes, but I’m getting a lot off of the internet. Mick, I thought if you when I saw a pic of the 4 adult children of the Queen “guarding” the casket (briefly) while in the Kirk... King Charles had on his kilt...

PPQ, hoping this craziness slows down for you. Lav, thx for the menu ideas! So sorry about your niece... Sam, how’s your health?

Pauly and Det and all - wishing you well...!

Hiya all how are things today then?hope all is well with all .today her majesty moves from her Bonnie Scotland down to London. Her journey is nearly done. Hats off to the pall bearers..that was no mean feat to do what they did. Nice and sunny here today.

Hiya teegee how are you today?hope all is well with you. 7 weeks wow!!!no wonder you are tired. Yes the Queen leaves St Giles tonight and is flown south. The majority will be on tintoretto.you take care.

Hiya ppqp, how are you today, hopefully not as busy as yesterday..a 2hr team meeting?that's a waste of time. The brain doesn't cope with that.
Yes plenty of room in the van we can have a row now..nae problem ...its called the succession. There is no choice for who is next in line..I think what you mean about choice is Charles..whose full name is Charles Arthur Philip George, has the choice of any of those names to be known as. You don't forget your me time with all this running around.

Hiya lav.. how are you doing?fuel today is at its lowest price at Costco today ..£1.48 a litre..at its highest about 5 weeks ago it was £2.10..a lot of people initially wished it were William, but to be fair he has stepped into the breach very well.I think the issue is generational and photogenic .must be honest I fall into his category rather than Williams!!!!! Have a lovely day

                  Big shout to everyone else

                    Re: 11 September

                    Good evening friends,

I made the trip back to the hometown today with YB for his monthly fire co. Meeting. While he was at the meeting I just drove around & looked at all the changes. I don’t especially like the ‘new’ stuff I have to be honest. Even the new high school is ugly & cold looking, sad.

PQ, it’s still plenty warm enough here, the nights are dropping down in the 50’s so that makes for better sleep. I really don’t mind the cold half as much Ido the heat, that’s just me.
Sounds like work is keeping you all busy enough, certainly better than being bored I guess. Haven’t heard anymore from my brother but I’m sure I will at some point. I just hope my niece leaves the house as requested & leaves it in good condition. I’m still holding a bit of hope that she pulls her head out of her a$$ & makes some massive changes in her life.

Cyn, I’m sorry to hear about your fall. Sounds like something I would do, honestly. I always keep ace wraps & an ice bag handy for these sort of incidents.
Have you been in touch with a GP since you moved? Maybe now would be a good time to get some bloodwork done to see if anything is going on causing your fatigue. I’m still thinking it Could be long covid. In any case, please take good care of yourself!

Mick, we stopped at Costco on the way home & gassed up my car but yB was driving so I didn’t notice the price of the gas. It’s come down steadily for the past 90 days.
We’re all still watching the news about the queen over here, even if we don’t understand all of it. Our son stopped by an hour ago with his brand new Subaru SUV - big car but should be good on gas, we’ll see I guess.

Hello to all & wishing everyone a nice night!

                      MAE ALL...

Boss didn't come in till noon since he's staying tonight so I was able to get a few more things accomplished before he dropped more my plate. I am going to have to make a yearly calendar to show him when he has to complete certain things so it all doesn't end up with me and needs to be done yesterday requests. When things get overwhelming we both stop and realize we've really only been open for 7 months so there is still a lot of growing pains to go through.

TG...7 weeks! no wonder you've got a lot of catching up to do. I like Lav's idea of getting some blood work done just to see. You take the time to regroup and look after yourself.

Mick...I wonder if it's the same pall bearers for every stop. It was coolish here today and we are still blanketed in smoke from the BC fires. My eyes haven't quit stinging for a week now. Every time the wind would clear some smoke the sun would come through and there is still a lot of heat in it. The succession, thanks for that. It would sure be weird if he chose a different name, I'd be totally confused and would have to keep looking up who he was. LOL

Lav...the last time I drove around my childhood neighbourhood it was very disappointing. Id' rather keep my memories intact. Busy at work is good, crazy not so much. LOL I'm sure you'll hear from your brother soon enough. I hope your niece does the right thing too but somehow I doubt it. You can always hope and maybe this will be the catalyst for her to actually do something about her issues. My son has been in a deep depression for about 4 weeks now and I was getting quite concerned. He hadn't been eating for awhile, at least when I've been home, and he was always in bed when I got home from work. The last couple of days he's been eating regularly and he texted me today to say he was heading up to a friends place to help on a carpentry job. That made me feel a lot better as his friends are a great support for him.

I'm pretty weary tonight but knowing that I got the things done that I wanted to do should help with my sleep. I've been having some pretty strange dreams lately. Shout out to the rest of the gang and I hope we all have a restful evening....:smile:PPQP

                        Mae all -

PPQ, here’s hoping all is well with you and that things are chugging along...

Mick, yes I read that the coffin is lined with lead, so the honor guard definitely has a “heavy lift” while moving the casket. Over here we’ve heard so little about Princess Anne, but she seems wonderful from the reports and all the videos of the last years when she was at her mother’s side for events... very sweet.

Lav, gosh I think I remember you being in that house (by yourself) when our original thread started ... I guess we’ve spent a lot of years here...

I am trying to be patient with this tiredness... yes Lav, I think Long COVID is a contributing factor... and I felt awful this morning after yesterday’s Pfizer booster, but perked up after taking some Advil. I did get some things done after having a coffee or two!

Off to slumber now - wishing all well -

hiya all how are we today then? hope all is well.Feeling a bit rubbish today ,blood sugars have dropped but apart from that ok.Was at the dentist earlier on ,just a check up ...all good so its a smiley badge for me .Weather is pretty good here today,

hiya Lav how are you doing then ? all good .I remember working in a nick ,that was all concrete and it definitely had sad syndrome .I will be interesting to see what King Charles does ...his past is littered with comments about the rubbish of concrete ..He believes in a future based on the past in respect of nature ,buildings etc.I must say Ive got to agree with him there!!

hiya ppqp ..how are you today? glad you managed to get some work done with the boss coming in .That is worrying about your son ,has he medication for it ,or is there anything he hasto do and is just ignoring it?I hope he comes out of it soon

the pallbearers werent the same all the way through . though the individuals were if that makes sense

In Scotland they were from the Royal Regiment of Scotland all the way to her leaving Holyrood Palace .
Enplaning and deplaning from the C130 were the Queens Colour Squadron Royal Air Force
From Buck House today it was 1st battalion Grenadier Guards.

Its interesting ...now the coinage has to be changed ,all the red post boxes that have the ER Royal cipher have to be changed and all the companies who have the Royal Seal of Approval ie the label says by appointment to Her Majetsy the Queen ..they have got to reapply for Royal Warrant of approval.there is a 2 year window for that .

hoping your son gets help ...and better soon .

hiya teegee hope all is well .Ive got my booster on the 27th this month I think its the moderna this time .Princess Anne ,is a star ,she is the most hardworking Royal, followed by Sophie ....Edwards wife. none of them are after tea and medals ,dont suffer fools gladly ,but get on with what they do ...formidable ladies .
you look after yourself and take care .

                            Re: 11 September

                            Greetings friends,

We had a really nice weather day, supposed to be like this for a few more days, yay.
Cooked a dinner for my son & his family to give them a hand. Dropped it off when I dropped my grandson off after school.

PQ, keep your boss informed of what he needs to do & when until it gets to be habit with him. You’ll save yourself a lot of grief that way.
Glad your son is coming out of his funk. It hurts to watch them suffer like that. Being with good friends always helps.
Believe it or not we have gotten smoke from the west coast fires all the way over here. It’s amazing how far that stuff travels.

Cyn, yes we have known each other for quite a long while now . I guess we’re close enough to being old friends real soon, Lol
Hope your ankle is oK. My right ankle started hurting for no reason today, maybe it’s sympathy pains for you. Popped a couple of Ibuprofen. It’s fine now.
Keep taking good care of yourself.

Mick, do you check your blood sugar numbers? Or did you mean B/P numbers? My B/P is sometimes ridiculously low. I think I’m overmedicated. Then all it takes is one salty meal out in a restaurant somewhere & it’s suddenly too high. What a pain, huh?
I hope the new king keeps up with his ecology work & makes some good advances.

Hello to the rest of the gang, hope everyone is OK.

                              MAE ALL...

It was an OK day today for a change. Boss didn't come in till 10am so that helped. Got my newsletter off to the publisher except for 2 articles that are going to take some time and concentration. Will do those in the morning.

Mick...sorry you were feeling a bit rubbish today, hope you feel better tomorrow. Wow, a dentist trip with no surprises, that's gotta be a first in awhile. It's been awhile since he's been this depressed. At one point I did get him into a doctor to deal with anxiety/panic attacks and he was given something to calm him down so we could all get some rest. He was told he needed to follow up by seeing a mental health councilor but of course that never happened. He told me he should go up north to his friends place but just didn't feel like it. So I was glad to get the text that he was going, meant he felt better. Thanks for all the explanations of the pallbearers that was very interesting.

Lav...what a nice jester on your part, cooking a meal for them. I'm sure they appreciated it. I agree about keeping my boss informed it's just that those things weren't on my radar as I hadn't been responsible for a few years. They're on my radar now. LOL Yes, he does much better with his friends around. They all used to be about 1/2 hour east of us but now they've moved up north, about 4 hours away. I'm sure he'll be gone for a couple of weeks and in a much better space when he comes home. WOW, you're getting the California smoke! Can you imagine what it would be like if you were closer?

TG...yup, things are chugging along and getting done. For somebody who goes 50 miles an hour I can understand your impatience but you need to take some down time. I hope you got a good rest last night and had a better day.

Shout out to Det, Sam and Pauly. Have a nice night all....:smile:PPQP
