Re: 20th Nov Cambrai Day

Good morning,

Young daughter & I made it to our destination! The length of the journey is determined by how it goes getting through Chicago traffic, and that didn’t go well; adding on at least another hour to our drive. But we’re here now!
I got to meet my new grandson Andy! He sure is a long, lanky little guy! And very scrawny so far, but hopefully he’ll keep getting better at nursing.
We will celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow here, and today will make a pie and things like that.

Mick, such a true article about the truth about our “Thanksgiving” celebration. The native Americans have the right idea by having a “Day of Mourning”. I hope curricula are changing in schools to reflect the truth more.

It worked, Lav! I went to bed after 11:00 pm, and woke up past 6 am instead of at 4 am!

TG, you know all too well what paulywogg is going through this first holiday, having just had to go through that yourself. I’m thankful for you that moving near extended family will give you a better holiday this year than the last three have been.
This is my first Thanksgiving alone after divorce, and it is jarring. I’m thankful that I was extended this invitation back in September to come meet the new baby over Thanksgiving, so I knew that I would have someplace to go. The holiday time does bring up feelings of grief and misgivings.

PQ, that was a major effort to launch that large craft fair! No wonder your body crumpled into sickness right afterwards! But yes -what a feeling of accomplishment that it was such a success.

Happy holiday celebrations to Lav & TG today, and happy Thursday to Mick & PQ!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

hiya all ...Hope you are all having a decent thanksgiving ..cold over here today again ,tomorrow is abusy day ,getting the cameras and lights fitted to the house .its dark over here today at 14445,so this system has got night vision too.it will be needed .Next Friday we are offski to Grassington for the Victorian weekend ....looking forward to it ..will see if I can get some decent pics .got all the lights and decorations for the van ...

hiya Slo...and a happy holiday to you too..yep a time for thinking etc ,but you cant live on what ifs ,,,we dont do Christmas ,Julies Gran ,mum and brother passed away around then ,so we usually choose to just forget it all..but this year we decided for some reason that we will celebrate it .hence all the decorations etc and going away.No harm in thinking ,but keep a positive spin on it .enjoy yourself with the grandson .

hiya teegee hows you today then? hope you are feeling better .I watched Yellowstone ,but more to the point I watched the series 1886 series which was about the settlers taking the land.it was better than yellowstone .hope you are having a good time at your nieces house .

hiya ppqp...how are you feeling today ? hope all is well..how did the AGM go?Its good that people appreciate the work you put into the organisation of the craft fair.got Jeeves prescription sorted ..she has given us a prescription for 60 tablets ..at quarter a day is 240 days ..she wants to see him anyway ,bearing in mind its trialed medication.but it certainly is working wonders for him.Early nights wont do you any harm.

happy thanksgiving Lav ...hope you have a good one .If someone is doing that on a random basis for bank numbers then they must have a machine ..I would guess its more when you have paid for a meal or something like that they could even have taken a pic of your card .Sorry about the hand ...mine are errrrm behaving ..ish ..He is ok...she is into everything at the moment ...have a great day with the family ...oh yes btw ...whats this "normal "thing you talk about? I ll have some of that !!!

hiya Pauly ,just to let you know we are thinking of you x

Re: 20th Nov Cambrai Day

Good evening folks,

We had a nice day with daughter & her family. Granddaughter was very pleased with her new hoodie & I’m sure she will wear this one out as well, Lol
Traffic was surprisingly light, wasn’t expecting that. I hear rain is moving in Sunday when I have our son & his family over, oh well.

PQ, glad your temps are mild right now. I’m just not ready for snow & ice yet - maybe in January or February haha.
That’s awesome your craft fair was such a success. Maybe next year’s will be even better if your vendors read the instructions haha.
I know enough about RA (especially after dealing with my Mom) that I’m pretty sure it isn’t an issue for me right now. She was diagnosed around age 60 or so & I remember her awful pain. There were no meds specific for RA then, certainly no biologics. I remember a chat with a rheumatologist right after she passed & he told me he was happy that there would soon be new meds on the market - that was back in 1987. I’ll be much happier when my shoes fit my feet again & are not rubbing blisters & calluses. Keeping fingers crossed. I made a new Mexican style bean dip for today that was good. Let me know if you want the link.

Slo, glad you made your trip safely & got to see Andrew. The kids all grow so fast, you’ll be very surprised the next time you see him
The 11 pm bedtime seems to work real well so I’m sticking with it haha! Enjoy the rest of your visit.

Mick, that’s a great video, I’m sure you’ll have a great time on your trip.
We are looking at a few security cameras for our house now in addition to the security system we already have. Our daughter just installed one at her house & you can see who is at the door & even talk to them thru an app on your phone. I’m probably going to go into the local branch of our bank tomorrow & talk to someone about this problem. A new card is to arrive in the mail tomorrow. What a pain, Lol
Daisy has ripped open two more holes in my hands today, geez. I’m being as stern as you can be with a 2 lb being but she’s relentless Lol

Cyn, I hope your day with family was lovely!

Pauly, thinking of you today
Hi to Det & Sam too.

Have a nice night all.

Howdy,

The people who can walk are out taking a walk now, before son-in-law’s family arrives soon for Thanksgiving dinner; so I can quick post. I tried to walk with them yesterday, and that didn’t go so well. But at least now I’m walking with a cane instead of a walker!

Scrawny baby Andy will grow big soon, because cousin Huxley, who turned 5 months old yesterday, is here now; and he’s huge next to Andy!

Are you having a turkey dinner for your son’s family on Sunday, Lav?

I see what you’re saying, Mick. These holidays kick up images of intact, traditional family gatherings, prompting nostalgia for what was and how it should be…but keep my head on straight, enjoy what is, and see through that nostalgia stuff.
I guess enough time has gone by now that Julie feels like she can dip some toes into Christmas festivities again, and enjoy them without them kicking up so much pain.

Time to eat turkey soon! The holiday dinner is delayed until this evening because D2 & her HB had to work all day Wednesday, so travel on Thursday. And son-IL3’s sister had to work all day today.

It’s the weekend!

Re: 20th Nov Cambrai Day

MAE ALL…

Long day yesterday but the AGM went without a hitch. Boss appreciated all I did and gave me the afternoon off. YAY

TG…glad your arm is better, sorry about the rest of your body. Glad to see you’ve got your priorities right, clean eating after Thanksgiving. LOL An hour away and not alone for the first time in 3 years sounds fabulous. Thanks for the congrats, it’s felt really good accepting the compliments. Makes it all worth it.

Slo…glad you made it to your destination in one piece. How lucky to meet Andy as a newborn. Hope your had a great Thanksgiving. It did feel good to accomplish the craft sale but I’ve been inundated with requests for next year. I’m just ignoring them for now, way too many other things to wrap up right now. “The people who can walk are out taking a walk now”…that made me laugh. Good job on moving to the cane. You pace yourself, don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I agree It’s the Weekend!

Mick…hope you got all the electronics working yesterday. When I got to work this morning there was an email from childcare saying the doorbell camera wasn’t working right. Wasn’t pointed to where it should be and everyone’s face was huge. Ooops, zoomed into the camera before I went to bed last night and forgot to reset it. LOL The AGM was a huge success, well worth the extra hours I put in. Must be a relief getting Jeeve’s prescriptions sorted. Sounds like the trial medication is working. I hear the UK is now going to get Tim’s coffee. Apparently it’s going to be an elite setup. You’ll have to try it at least once, bring back good old Medicine Hat days.

Lav…Jan/Feb would work for me but that’s a pipe dream. Warm today and the chinook winds started about 2am. There’s an Arctic Cold front heading down and should arrive sometime Sunday. Monday highs are predicted to be 9F and not much improvement all week. I plan on sending out a survey to all the vendors asking what they would like to see different for next year. I will definitely have to increase the number of tables so will need to open another room. Just have to figure out the concession. I really want to be able to feed the vendors if they are there all day. I hope you get the inflammation sorted and your feet fit back into your shoes soon. Yes, I would love the bean dip recipe.

Going to get out for some supplies tomorrow before the deepfreeze. Hope everyone has a good nigh…:smile:PPQP

Re: 20th Nov Cambrai Day

Greetings friends,

We’ve had rain, then sun, then clouds, now it’s cold haha!!!
Staying inside & working on the crafty stuff anyway soit doesn’t really matter all that much I guess.

Slo, good job Graduating to the cane provided you’re not bearing too much weight where you shouldn’t. I know you’re enjoying all the babies & a nice turkey dinner too.
I am doing a modified turkey dinner tomorrow - convection roasting a turkey breast & making tons of side dishes since there will be picky eaters coming over Sunday. Tomorrow is apple pie & pumpkin pie day & a batch of cup cakes for the birthday boys. Everyone will be well-fed I’m sure.

PQ, glad your meeting went well & getting half the day off doesn’t suck either (sorry my kids still say that haha)
Here’s the dip recipe. I skipped the jalapeno & used a medium hot salsa so it wouldn’t be overly hot/spicy. Perfect Pinto Bean Dip - Plant-Based on a Budget
I really like this girl’s recipes, Pin a lot of them for safe keeping

Mick, I guee you’re on the road somewhere? Be careful out there!

Cyn, how was your Thanksgiving with family? Hope yuo are well.

Hello to Pauly, Det & Sam.

Have a nice night all!

Mae all,
I returned this afternoon from our family time... I was able to go with one grand-niece today and watch her with her (leased) horse. She has come a long way in just 9 months... she was all alone in the ring, exercising her hoRose, and she did very well. I just love being around horses, so it was fun for me.

Dinner was delayed because of the long time I took to “smoke“ the turkey breast but it was all fine, we had all brought dishes, and there were 5 early college age kids, so the vibe was fun. My SIL snuck in her wine in a tall mug, but I was prepared for that!

Glad to hear how everyone’s doing...
PPQ, sorry about the Dreadful cold coming in... sending warm thoughts.
Lav, sounds like your hands would benefit from that kitty be crated longer! Glad thost you slags a good time with Daughter, and of course g-daughter was thrilled with her new hoodie!
Mick, sorry to hear of all those losses around the holidays, that’s tough. But having some lights might make it feel lighter this year, good luck. Glad the Jeeves meds got sorted!

A bit worn out from driving and everything so an early night for me...

Cheers to all -

Re: 20th Nov Cambrai Day

Greetings on this Saturday morning

I am enjoying being at D3 & her HB’s house. We had a nice, quick, stress-free Thanksgiving dinner yesterday evening. I kind of enjoy how no-nonsense son-in-law3’s family is about celebrations: get in, eat right away (nothing too fancy, and no worries about setting an elaborate table!), follow it immediately with dessert as part of the meal, and that’s that! All done within a couple hours or so! Then go home. Alcohol has hardly featured this weekend. We played a few rounds of a fun game called Telestrations last night. That provided some laughs!

TG, that’s great that you found a way to experience some horse time for yourself, as well as spending time with the grandniece.

PQ, yeah, now just tweak the successful craft fair some for next year. But not yet! It’s a year away after all!
We have pretty warm & sunny weather here. I brought all these warm sweaters with me because I’ve been so cold at home, but don’t need them here. It’s a nice respite from the cold further north.

I love both pinto bean dip and white corn tortilla chips, Lav. You have quite a day of baking ahead! Your house will smell so good today.
I would say to wear gloves around the kitten, but know already that that doesn’t work. My cat just bites right through them when I would try to brush his teeth per the vet’s recommendation. So, he just has to have a mouth of smelly teeth, because I’m not going to be all bit up & scratched up while trying to brush them.

Mick, that’s fun to celebrate a Dickensian, old-fashioned Christmas, right there in England.
Julie’s nephew sounds like a very smart, talented guy. What a shame that he was mislabeled in school. Thankfully he shook that off. Then got thrown off-course again, but recovered once again. Another alcohol success story!

Hey friends,

Spent the day baking. I now have a dairy free pumpkin pie that i can actually eat, an apple pie & a dozen cupcakes. So tomorrow’s desserts are done & all I have left to do is make the dinner tomorrow, Lol
Daisy is 7 weeks old tomorrow & learning the routine of the house which is nice. No hand punctures so far today, yay!!!

Cyn, happy to hear you enjoyed the family visit, that’s cool. We have so many horses around here & I find them fascinating as well.
My son has a smoker & smokes all kinds of meat, YB buys smoked turkey wings & legs when he sees them in the supermarket. I definitely did not sneak wine into my coffee mug, only decaf coffee for me haha. Hope this week is peaceful for you.

Slo, glad you enjoyed your holiday too. It’s always extra fun with the new babies present.
I literally was in the kitchen all day today but it was kind of fun. Tomorrow will be exhausting i’m sure haha.

Mick, glad to hear Julie’s nephew helped you out, that’s great!
The dinner is Sunday so I’ll let you know how it all works out haha. Stay warm, we’re in for an inch or more Of rain tomorrow.

PQ, hope your weekend was a good one.

Hello to the rest & wishing everyone a nice night!
