    Re: 18th Dec

Thank you for the startup, Mick! Such good news about your 2 charges - I hope it all keeps going in the right direction!!

All chugging along here... I took a moment (or 5) to put the candles in the Hanukkah menorah... I gave it to my dear husband as a gift... I haven’t been able to unpack the last few years, so it was lovely to see. I like the ritual of lighting one more candle each night... it is a way of chasing away these dark evenings... each night the light grows...

Hoping that everyone is doing well and staying healthy...
    Cheers,
    TG

      Re: 18th Dec

      Greetings friends,

Still without real heat here. The fix YB figured out last night eventually failed. We did get the name of a new guy to call tomorrow so hopefully he can help us out. Thanking the Universe for the wood burning stove downstairs & all that firewood we purchased this year. Maybe that’s what jinxed us, haha! Got the last embroidery job delivered to my customer & I am now officially on vacation
Hoping to catch up with baking & gift wrapping & that sort of thing.

Mick, it was nice to see those two eating together nicely. One step at a time I guess.
Stay dry & warm, you don’t need another case of man flu, right?

Cyn, I love the custom of lighting one candle each night. The short/lack of daylight hours was starting to get to me last week but that will soon change with the solstice.
      Stay warm.

PQ, how’s your weekend treating you?

Slo, sounds like you had a fun time with the grands, cookies, tree, etc.
I just heard my son-in-law’s mom is refusing palliative care for her husband & that’s sad. She wants ‘to stay positive’. She is clueless, honestly. Today his K+ level is dangerously high, he’s not going to get better like he has in the past. Still no dialysis, you know the deal. My daughter-in-law’s dad is doing OK on his own. He comes here from NJ & spends time at my son’s house & usually ends up here on the holidays since my DIL does not cook, haha. Glad your driving on snowy roads wasn’t too bad. It’s the other drivers that worry me.

Hello to anyone else looking in & wishing everyone a nice night!

How’s your kitten doing now, Lav?
Has to feel good getting the last Christmas embroidery orders done!

I got most of my Christmas presents wrapped today!

No, this is no weather for archaeological digging, Mick!

Thanks for poetically describing the effect of the Hannekah candles, TG. Now I better understand their impact and beauty. Plus the connection to your dear husband makes it so meaningful as well.

And on to the last week before Christmas!

            Re: 18th Dec

Am I looking forward to Christmas? Well, I’m happy that my brother and his wife offered, back in July, to host Christmas; so I’ve been happy to know I have plans. But now they’re starting it in the late morning rather than the afternoon, and now daughter wants us to gather at their house for brunch first before we go to brother’s, which pushes things even earlier; and now mother wants me to drive her there; which pushes things ridiculously early, and will keep me on the road driving for probably 6 hours that day. And there’s supposed to be a huge snow dump, and sub-zero temperatures, so…eh. Just sort of looking forward to it.

I hope you’re enjoying a happy birthday today, Lav. And in a toasty warm house! And maybe going out to eat!

              Good evening friends,

Yes, the new heater guys were here & they said we need a brand new replacement of this nearly new heater, ugh. Seems that nothing is made to last these days, infuriating to say the least. They did say it’s oK for us to restart the heater after a 2 hour cool down then it should run for about 6 hours. Between that & the wood stove we should be fine. Not happy but OK haha!!!
This is not exactly the birthday gift I was hoping for lol.

Slo, thank you for the birthday wish, much appreciated. Mick, thanks for starting the thread too
This day just keeps getting weirder & weirder. My DIL asked if they could bring dinner over tonight, I said sure, then she postponed it until tomorrow so we went out for a quick bite haha. Whatever!!!
YB is exhausted because he was up every 2 hrs last night checking on the heater & wood stove which was nice I guess. Looks like. We have another week or more of this to deal with, oh well.
The kitten is just fine now, I guess he had a little virus or something. Mick, I’m glad the bunnies are warming up to each other a little. All things in time, right?
Slo, maybe not doing all that driving on Christmas would be a better idea in the long run. Something to think about anyway.

Cyn & PQ, hello to both of you!
Hello to Pauly, Det & Sam, would love to hear from you.

              Have a decent night all.

                Mae all,
Lav, how did I miss that you have had heater problems...? SO sorry... geez, not what you need right now - glad to hear that you have a plan on place... but a week away? Oh no! Sorry to hear you DIL is as nutty as always... and so sorry about the “no” on palliative care. I think this whole country needs to be given info on what those choices are, and how to make good decisions. I started with a new primary physician last week, and the office offers a booklet called “5 wishes“ - good explanations, and a thing to fill out so one can make sure one’s wishes are followed...

SLO, geez, that seems very unfair to make you do all that driving on a holiday... is there no other way? Sending you “problem solving energy”... I hope it works out for you.

PPQ, you are probably enjoying your first day of vacay... enjoy and stay warm...

Mick, good news on the bunny front... I hope that keeps going. And Thank You for all the wonderful laughs that you provide... I was just reading about managing cholesterol, and laughter is one of the ways!! (My doc says mine is a little high... &#128521 I’ll go back and re-read ...
it is hard to be out of the “normal” situation with pets... I’m sure this time of introducing them to each other is a bit trying for you... good luck.., 👍
Hello to Pauly, Det, Sam and all stopping by... hope everyone is okay...

hiya all, how are we doing? hope all is well.pretty cold over here but not freezing ,tried the rabbits together again this morning...nope never worked ..mind you its only a week today..talking to a friend of mine who used to show rabbits...the big problem are ..firstly Dutch rabbits are very unpredictable and territorial ,especially females ..bearing in mind she has been all over this house virtually, her scent is there,so she classes it all as hers .there are a couple of things I can do ...I certainly aint giving up after a week!!but if the worst comes to the worst ,she will remain on her own ...her sister wont bond either .we shall see ...slowly slowly.

hiya teegee how are you doing? hope all is good with you .what are you up to over Chrimble?

hiya Lav ,how are you doing? hows all doing in catsville today? I couldn't sleep last night ..I was up at 4 this morning......making my castle..I hope the dinner your dil made was a salad ...otherwise it will be pretty cold ...so you need a new heater for the not so old heater ? yep you are right ...nothing nowadays is made to last in this throwaway society.I take it you arent included in the 2 hourly shift pattern?

hiya Slo you doing ok? sounds like you are going to have a busy Christmas !!thats a fair old drive in the snow ...you be careful in that snow .

hiya ppqp ...how are you doing? hope all is good with you

                    Mae all,
Snowy day yesterday, today in single digits F, tomorrow blizzard warnings, so... a few of us have worked ahead of tomorrow’s Homeless meals, hoping to get them put together and distributed before the bad snow comes in...
I brought home 200 rolls, so I’ll be baking them, will split and butter them to take down tomorrow at 8:30 AM... all of this makes me so grateful to have heat, and water, and food, a car, a place to live... good lessons...

Mick, sorry to hear that the bonding is bumpy... but as you say, what will be will be. Glad you have your castle to work on... I’ll go back now and read your jokes!

Lav, I hope all family things are going well, and that you end up with an edible meal! 😉

SLO, I hope the kneecaps and knees and legs are coping with the cold and snow okay...

PPQ, are you in the freezer up there? Snow? I feel like we’re in Canada with you!

Pauly, Det, Sam and all stopping by - wishing you well,

                      Re: 18th Dec

                      Good evening friends,

We made the journey with 6 wreaths to lay at the grave sites today. It was sunny but the traffic was awful (one of the reasons we moved south nearly 20 years ago). It’s so congested there now, not like it was when we were kids. Son &his family just left, had a nice visit. They brought burgers, sandwiches & pizza. They don’t do a lot of cooking on weekdays & that’s fine. So they said they would come here christmas eve when daughter & her crew are here. I just hope they are all a little more relaxed than the last time, we shall see. That way I only have to put on one dinner & eatthe leftovers Christmas day, yay, haha! The wood stove is doing a good job of keeping the place warm enough. I won’t mess with the wood stove, it makes me nervous. Yuo have to open & close vents before you open the door to put more wood in or you end up with a basement room full if smoke & the smoke alarms going off - did that once, never again, LOL

Cyn, my nutty DIL has just finished the first year work for her PhD. By the time she finishes it she will be a complete nut I imagine, haha!! My son just finished his Masters after a very long, intense year of study. He seems to be very happy it’s over. Awesome of you to help feed the homeless in this cold weather. It’s the right thing to do when we can help. Good luck with your baking & stay warm
The hospital that took over my primary care (Christiana in Delaware) is also big on life planning & wants me tofill out some stuff which I will do soon. I have my daighter on notice to be my decision maker, she knows what I want & don’t want. We have both worked in hospitals & we both know how important it is to have an advocate who is willing to speak up.

Mick, I think I’ve always been a rebel without a Claus too, haha!!
I guess the bunnies are taking their sweet old time, keeping my fingers crossed for success. I have also been awake & watching the clock so to speak for nearly a week & I don’t know why. I force myself to stay put though because the dog is in her crate & I really don’t want her up & roaming the house with me. I’m due for a full night’s sleep myself. So how’s the castle coming along?

PQ, hope you are well & not snowed it or anything.

Hello to all & wishing everyone a nice night!

Hello all how are we doing today then? Hope everyone is doing well. It is cold over here today, but at least it is dry. I have kept the rabbits apart today, Bonnie is out in the garden at the moment just wondering free, whilst I left Argyl in the garage and and access to the conservatory as well well. Remember I said he has got little legs and I would have to make steps for him? Well I left Bonnie's hutch open, the same hutch that I was going to drop the upper level from if they bond successfully to accommodate him, I kept going into the garage checking on him and found him in Bonnie's hutch I actually watched him jumping out of it so there is nothing wrong with Mr little legs. I am letting them live separately for a few days till they get used to each others smells and sight and then I'm going to bond them properly I was going through all last night, and we'll start again with them.

                          Hello, all!

I wonder where PQ is? Is she taking a vacation from MWO as well as work?!

That’s a lot of rolls to prep by yourself, Cyn; but I can see where it is smart to get a jumpstart on it before the snow hits. And it wouldn’t be a good time to be leaving homeless people without food. It really is eye-opening to realize how fortunate we are to have shelter as the temps drop so low, the wind picks up so high, and the snow comes in…

I traveled to my brother’s grave with my mother last week to put a beautiful Christmas wreath by his grave. That’s where I’m going to be buried too: next to my brother, who is next to my dad, who is next to my grandparents.
Following my divorce this year, I have been doing those end-of-life legal planning things too, Lav. I too have nominated my therapist daughter (occupational therapist) as my Power of Attorney for Health Care, since she works in a hospital too; and so will have the best grasp on what should be done when.

Mick, I don’t envy you & Lav the early morning awakenings. I have been doing better lately with falling back to sleep when I wake up early.
That’s quite a set-up you have for the rabbits. I hope Bonnie will accept Argyll.

I had my last Physical Therapy session today! I am walking without a cane or a walker now. And I’m getting about normally, as in I can go walking through stores now again -even a couple in a row!
Acupuncture is making the biggest difference! It healed the pain in my fractured leg easily, and has healed up a significant amount of the pain in the knee replacement knee that has had so many surgeries (3) and injuries.
I had the last of my prepaid appointments with my chiropractic/homeopathic/kinesiology doctor today! He thinks I’m B12-deficient, and I have been wondering the same thing; based on my readings on the blog of my detox diet (Nutrition Restored / Love Your Liver). So I started on some B12 tablets today. Maybe that will be the key to eliminating a lot of the fatigue & low energy that I experience!

                              Good evening friends,

Happy winter solstice to all on this shortest day!!
We are being told to expect 2-3” of rain tomorrow into Friday then a flash freeze ugh
I will cancel my Christmas eve gathering if needed. I don’t want my kids on the road if it’s icy this weekend. Of course I have gathered a ton of food & will be stuck with it all. Switching between the wood stove & the house heater today - YB is, not me haha! It’s not been real bad in here.

Mick, I think those bunnies have their own plans & will figure things out.
Hope everything is OK with Julie’s dad. Good luck with returning your Amazon purchase.

Slo, I’m so glad to hear your pain has been managed effectively. You have used every modality available & have gotten good results, good for you. Stay off the icy roads & sidewalks, please.
Since I eat very little meat & zero dairy products I’ve been using a B12 supplement for years. Just found out my B12 level is quite high so I’ve stopped the supplement for now. It definitely did make a difference in my energy & alertness levels. I’ll restart it again after the holidays I imagine. Look at stopagingnow.com for their B12 lozenge, it’s the best
