    Re: 5 March

    Mae all,

Home for the evening, which is nice. We had icy rain yesterday, but all is melted now... somehow it feels colder than the temps... maybe it's the unending cloudy skies... this is how I remember the winters being here -- makes me grateful that this winter was really quite sunny... and pretty soon we'll see the beginnings of spring.

I was with my elder this morning, and didn't see anything in the fridge for dinner, so I went back this evening (really just a few minutes walk from my apartment)... and I was in the middle of heating pot pie for my friend (and making baked bananas with my over-ripe fruits) and guess who walks in? The granddaughter. And did she bring any food? No she did not. Geez?!? I am happy to just drop by after cocktail hour (my friend has a Vodka Tonic each evening), just to see if she has anything planned for dinner. (Memory problems). She skipped lunch and dinner the other day, and was very weak the next morning. When I see that she eats lunch and dinner, she awakens fine and gets up in the mornings. Anyway, not really my business, but the family is paying me a little to watch over her, so I'm going to do just that!

Good to read all that everyone is up to... I haven't been around a baby since the 1970s when my nephew and niece were born... I don't remember any special diapers for newborns... but since I was a pre-teen they probably weren't letting me change the babies! Mick, the rabbits look very comfy and happy in the conservatory. So sorry to hear about all the stranded motorists, that must have been very scary for all. I hope the rain washes all the snow away (not starting any flooding!). Lav, quick question. I had a dexa scan recently, and the results were poor. They wanted to put me on an infusion drug, but when the guy called to schedule it and read me the risks ("mouth sore open to jawbone that will not ever heal") I just stopped him and said no thank you to the whole plan. Years ago I took the pills, but they pretty much ruined my gut... so we'll see what the next plan is. But you had a site where the fix was Greens, right? "Save our Bones" or something like that? I want to give that a look. Thx. PPQ, sounds like you really are doing the job of 3 people, take care. SLO, you are such a great caretaker... I hope you are taking care of yourself too!
Sending lots of good wishes to all - miss you Pauly. Hello to Det and Sam, and all others who might drop by.
    May we be well -
    TG

        Re: 5 March

        Good early morning,

The snow is melting steadily, and the pond outside is no longer frozen. Spring is coming. My mother reminded me that we “Spring Forward” for Daylight Savings Time this weekend. Good to know!

I fell ill yesterday with chills and swollen lymph glands and felt mildly feverish, so took a long bath and went to bed at 7 pm. Hope I nipped it in the bud.

Mick, your snowman did the same thing that Frosty did! The bunnies look perfectly content with their indoor play area.

TG, it’s hard to see the granddaughter failing to realize that your elderly charge needs to have food provided! It puts an extra burden on you. I remember those frustrations when my sister-in-law would fail to provide enough food for my demented MIL. She herself was eating-disordered and focused on staying rail-thin (and sliding into dementia herself), so she would project that onto her mother, and fail to provide enough calories for her elderly charge! Maddening.

Cooper was born a month premature, so he has these tiny little preemie diapers. He’ll probably outgrow them by next week.

Thanks for showing a picture of the cute kitten in your house, Lav, doing kitten-like things! Maybe he’ll take more to the outdoors come Spring, with his mother?

PQ, hope the weekend treats you kindly.

Young daughter is coming home for Spring Break, and I get to see her on Tuesday and maybe Sunday as well.

          Re: 5 March

          Greetings all,

Cloudy & windy but no snow or rain here, grateful
Nothing special going on but staying busy anyway.

PQ, glad you have your head above all the snow! People are so stupid here about driving in the snow, probably because we don’t often get large amounts. I know you know better!
While I was consuming alcohol I had no interest in sweets either but I did bake & leave it for others. It’s just a nice way to pass time sometimes. I try not to eat too much because I’m not getting any smalller haha!

Cyn, are there any meal delivery services for the elderly in your area. Around here we have ‘Meals on Wheels’. Volunteers deliver the meals to the elders & often sit with them while they eat to provide company. It’s not gourmet but it’s nutritious. That poor woman is probably suffering from low blood sugars, making her sleepy & confused. Tell the granddaughter to figure it out!! Also I’d hide the vodka, she shouldn’t be consuming that on an empty stomach, geez!
I’ve failed 3 Dexa scans now & refuse to have any more, they’re basically BS. The oral Fosamax killed my gut too so I searched for a healthier way to fix my bones. The pH balanced diet makes perfect sense along with all the weight bearing exercise you can manage. I will never allow the IV meds they’re pushing either - awful side effects. Here’s all you need: Natural Osteoporosis Resources & Programs - Save Our Bones
Glad to hear yor snow is melting.

Mick, a no detecting weekend for you, oh well. I’m sure you’ll find something else to do.
So you built yourself a nasty snowman, LOL
I hope you & the bunnies have a nice weekend.

Slo, sorry to hear you’re feeling sick. I hope it leaves asap. You’re too busy to be taking sick time.
I’m going to wait another month then get this young kitten in for neutering. After that I will see if I can have him outside from time to time. He has so much energy, much more than I do haha.
Enjoy your visit with your daughter, do something nice together.

Hello to all & hoping everyone has a nice night!

            MAE ALL...

TG...I was glad to read that you are getting paid. You are doing way more than just checking in on a neighbour or elderly friend. I think the family has to step up, I hope they are paying for the food you provide. Keep track of it.

Mick...snowsville is frozen! Man it was cold out there today, not that I went out. Had to keep turning up the heat to combat the freezing tunnel of air that comes through the door and up the stairs. I really need to get the landlord to replace it, I just don't want my rent increased over it. Your description of the road reminds me of the coquihalla highway they built through the mountains to BC. I won't travel that road after October.

Slo...hope you're feeling better today, like Lav says getting sick is the last thing you need right now. It's nice that you're going to be able to see your daughter this week.

Lav...at the first sight of even a small flake people get stupid. With this extended snow and cold spell, we've had a lot of road rage around the city. That's something that's not normal. Nothing special going on with me either and I didn't even bother staying busy. LOL I will get a little more active tomorrow and do the normal chores tomorrow. It's still going to be cold but the chinook is supposed to hit Sunday night and we'll be above freezing all week. That will be a welcome relief. And the boss is taking Monday off, that's always a bonus.

Waves to anyone stopping in. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP
