Pi...so good to see you post. I think of you often but especially on Pi Day! You have been missed. Here is good.... I hope you find that day soon, we're here for you and would love to have you back in our lives. There is no judgement here as I learned when I royally screwed up over Xmas and felt I didn't deserve to post here anymore. When I finally posted the love and support that came back made me cry and feel like I still mattered. I hope that made sense, I'm just blown away to see you. :heartbeat:

Re: 12 March
MAE ALL...
Pi...please do stick around. We'd love to catch up with you. You don't have to go into any detail about anything it's up to you. I know when I had my scare over Christmas I shared. I felt so alone and unworthy and my friends here helped me through that. I'm just so glad you're back with us. You'll get back into the routine of us and it'll feel like you never left. :heartbeat:
Lav...doesn't look like I'll be able to take Friday off with the way things are going. Maybe a half day if I can swing it. Been seeing all kinds of scary weather stories on the news all across the US, hope things are ok where you are and that you're managing to avoid a lot of it.
Slo...I was just chatting with a friend today reminiscing about they way it was. We were watching all the mothers picking up their kids from our after school care programs lugging smaller ones, strollers, the all important diaper bag. We were both so glad to be past all that. Then of course there was all the drama in our lives to deal with. Wondered how we ever managed but we did. I'm glad your Huxley time is so enjoyable. Hope the packing at your mothers went smooth. I can't remember if you ever told us where she was headed to. Don't want to presume anything.
Mick...no headstands at yoga tonight. Glad to hear Julie's Dad is ok. It's so hard on everyone with getting old. Glad the funeral went ok, such a shame that it was a return of cancer. I'm doing good and had to giggle at the "small band of booze tax avoider". The Feds are raising tax on booze as of April 1st and my first thought was Hah, you're not getting my money.
TG...hope all is well and that you're getting some me time.
Another steady day at work and wasn't able to get to my community garden AGM work. So tomorrow will see me finish that off in prep for the virtual meeting tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll be able check in before the meeting cause I'll be way too tired to afterwards.
Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

Re: 12 March
Good evening friends,
Checking in a little later than usual because we ended up taking an after dinner stroll thru Walmart haha! It’s empty that time of day, makes it easier to find things
Sun today, no rain but still have all that crazy wind which should be gone by tomorrow. Then we’re in for a warm up just in time for the start of Spring!
Pi, wonderful to see you, so happy you stopped by. I hope you know we are all here to help one another on this sometimes rocky journey. No guilt, no judgment just support 24/7.
Stick around, maybe we can convince you to stay.
Slo, you know I used the birth of my first grandson to finally get my sh*t together, once & for all. I have never regretted that decision for a second. Being a good & helpful granny was more important than anything else going on at the time. Glad you’re enjoying your time with your daughter & Huxley. Your Mom is going to assisted living? Probably a good move for her.
Mick, I think you’ve seen today’s crazy cat pics on FB haha! He’s a real nut case, honestly.
I posted a link for that cabbage pie a few weeks ago, it’s really good glad Julie’s Dad is OK. Hate those scares.
PQ, that big storm apparently went all around us. We didn’t get the rain, just two days of crazy wind.
I hope you can get your half day Friday to recharge yourself. The snow & the floods out west are just horrible. None of that stuff here.
Cyn, hope your day was easy & there’s no more snow or anything.
Hello to all & hope everyone has a nice night!

Re: 12 March
Hi, Pie! How nice to have you back! I have been posting on this site since 2018, and on this thread for….a good number of months.
My mother’s spouse type guy died in September, and the plan has always been that when he dies, she has up to a year that she can stay in the house. The house was never in her name, and it goes to his children. So she is moving very close to my little sister and her family, about an hour and a half west by car. She is moving into an apartment in brand new age 55+ senior living apartment building. It’s really nice: light colors and bright & sunny with big windows like she’s always wanted, and a lovely nature view. It was a nice day being with her, and we got a lot done. She has been a very difficult person in my life, but it’s finally a better relationship.
Things are hopping at your work, PQ! You & your friend are feeling relieved at having come out the other side of the pressure cooker of raising kids etc., and then the drama & upheaval of difficult life events, eh? Yeah, it feels good to come out the other side. Good luck with your meeting tomorrow evening. I can see why taking the afternoon off might be necessary.
Mick, d*mn cancer! It always seems to come back.
Hopefully Julie’s dad can be righted & sorted without more issues developing.
TG, I’m glad you have the company of your delightful elderly friend to enjoy while she’s still yet with us in her remaining years…a touchstone to your mother and a connection to your past as well.
My brother committed suicide during the first week of the Pandemic, when everything started shutting down…yes, it has been three years this week.
I try to go to stores like Walmart and Target during slow times too, Lav! Like, definitely try to avoid the weekends.
I agree that having grandchildren coming is a pretty motivating reason to get ourselves straightened out! It’s good to have that extra motivation to use as leverage to get a solid quit under way. It would be so embarrassing to be a drunk, unreliable granny.
And with that, I’m signing off!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Mae all -
Wow, where did the last couple of days go? I have had a project that I'm working on (NOT taxes... that's next), but somehow the days have all melded together. Except for the weather... today was a radical return of the worst of winter weather. Blizzard-like winds, blowing snow, and I had to be out in it... but I survived. I think it's the weather that has sapped me so completely the last few days... who knows.
Pie! I thought of you when I heard it was your day... I think when I started on MWO I was in a thread with you and Lav; somehow that one migrated here. It was great to see your "sign" and to think of you being close by (in a "web" sort of way).
SLO - you are always on the go - giving to someone or other. I hope that you are taking care of yourself as well!
Lav, sounds like you had bad winds also... for some reason they are so exhausting! I hope the outside kitty did OK during the last frost... as always, you "alkaline" recipes sound so good.
Mick, thanks so much for posting that Julie's dad turned out to be okay. Now as I am spending time with an elder, I realize how quickly things can turn... and also how to be "on the lookout" for the beginning stages of something that might become troubling... this is all new ground for me... my parents both passed in ways that didn't have long times of declining health.
PPQ - so lovely to read your heartening note to Pie --- I am SO glad that you came back to this thread... I feel like it is a kind of "family", and I miss it so much if someone doesn't show up (no pressure though - I understand when people need a break!! It's just nice to know how folks are, after one starts to care about them...
Ok kids... I can barely keep my eyes open... time for bed. May we be well...

Re: 12 March
Hello hello and how are we today then question mark hope everyone is doing well. A day of mixed weather over here, initially it was sunny, it is now raining despite the fact the skies are blue! Went to have a look at an electric bike yesterday, fortune favoured me again. As we got there the guy tried to switch it on but failed miserably it would not start. Obviously I didn't buy it which made me rethink the purpose I wanted them for and how much use I was going to get out of them. It is back to looking for normal folding bikes, and also so a lot of our travelling will be done by shanks's Pony. Both rabbits are doing well, they have a cardboard box now that sits in the conservatory full of hay, they absolutely love it. Not going detecting this weekend it's Mother's Day not a lot more happening on this side of the world, as you may have noticed I am doing this on my phone yet again, my laptop was playing me up again last night, I definitely think it is past its sell-by date. Hope you all have a great weekend and, stay safe sane and sober!af since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: 12 March
Good evening friends,
Mick, that story HA HA HA!!!!
Sorry about the electric bike, maybe the old fashioned type would be better for you two anyway. Glad the bunnies are happy, they always seem to be
I have boxes & wool cat caves to keep my creatures occupied & happy.
Cyn, time seems to really fly when you’re busy. I had a hard time believing it was Friday this morning Lol
We have had a few days of crazy wind, a few more on the way this weekend apparently. The deck cat ‘Penny’ seems to be fine tucked into her green, waterproof cat house stuff with plenty of straw for warmth.
Tried out a new recipe for vegan cinnamon chocolate chip cookies with a touch of coffee flavor this afternoon. Took most of them for my grandson when I picked him up. He gave the thumbs up for them!
Slo, I won’t go near the stores on the weekends, hate crowds. I was going to head to Costco tonight for a few things but remembered it’s St Paddy’s day & I have to drive thru a college town to get to Costco. I know they will be celebrating their foolish heads off so I’m staying home. I’m too old for that nonsense anymore. Hope your day was good.
PQ, Pi, hello & hope you both had a good day!
Have a nice night all!

Re: 12 March
Hello all -
Things seem pretty quiet around here (except for Mick's joke... LOL)...
The horrible wind from yesterday finally died down, and we saw the sun and a bit of blue sky today... hallelujah!
Not too much going on... I had a nice long chat with my elder friend this morning, and one of her kids will be coming tomorrow, so I'll be out of that "job" for awhile. (I really appreciate the way that seeing her gets me out of my apartment!)
I have a client who suffers from Parkinson's and she called me today out of the blue, crying so much I could hardly make out what she was saying... it turns out that her 80-year old husband just can't stand the stress of seeing her ill and (kind of) being her caretaker, and he just left the house... I hope he returns tonight, but who knows... I worry about my sweet woman client, due to have Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in May. One of her kids lives right next door, but is totally unresponsive to his mom's needs. How can that be? My heart just broke hearing my client/friend so desperate. I have given them (the couple) resources for special foods for her, etc. (she has a hard time swallowing), but they haven't acted on any of it, so I'm just going to order it all for her, and she will pay me. What is wrong with people anyway? I understand "Caretaker Fatigue", but if they can't handle it, wouldn't you think they would try to find a replacement for care-giving? Honestly, some people are just mysteries to me.
The weather is still snow-flakey with cold winds, but then again, it is March, so that's to be expected...
Mick, your jokes really do crack me up, thx for the laugh. Lav, glad that the porch kitty is well-housed by you - of course he/she is!
Here's hoping that everyone else, and those dropping by, are all well... sending good wishes to all...
Cheers,
TG

Re: 12 March
Hiya everyone how are we doing today then?all good?anyone listening out for the ice cream man???ha ha.nice day here apart from occasional showers .not going detecting tomorrow. Its mother's day.
Lav..yes you are right, I thinkbwe will look at the manual bikes as opposed to battery..definitely isn't value for money. The rabbits are doing good, they love tunnels and the box that is in the conservatory. Always a mess but they enjoy it. Hope you have a good weekend.
Hiya teegee are you doing?hope all is good with you..how is your client today?is she OK?I understand the frustration of people needing care and especially when you are dependent on others who let you down. I agree with you..if you don't want to do it then ship out and let someone who does, but don't pretend. Rant over ...hope you have a good weekend
Hiya slo you OK today?are you child minding?
Hiya ppqp hope all is going ok with your weekend
Hiya pie..how are you doing?
Take care everyone and have a good weekendaf since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: 12 March
Greetings friends,
Currently sunny & 46 degrees. Supposed to be quite a bit colder & windy tomorrow - of course.
We had an Amish teen here for a few hours stacking a ton of new firewood. He likes the cash, we like saving our aging bodies, Lol
Cyn, so you’re getting a little time off - that’s good. Sorry to hear about the woman with Parkinson’s, it’s nasty & affects so many different things. Sounds like her husband needs to settle down & make some plans for her care. Not everyone is meant to be a caretaker, I understand that. I can’t imagine her family ignoring her needs like that. What’s wrong with people?
You really seem to be surrounded by a population truly needing care. Good thing they have you to step in & lend a hand.
Mick, still to chilly for the ice cream man, haha!
Glad the bunnies are happy with their tunnels, etc. my 2 cats are in a coma for the moment & I’m not waking them up for anything!!
Hello to PQ & Slo, hope you are both well.
I tried something a little different for dinner, they turned out well - chicken fritters. I put a few on top of my salad, yum
Chicken Fritters (3 flavors - cheesy, Italian, and curried) - Everyday Delicious
Have a nice night all!
