    Re: 26 March

    Good evening friends,

Not to brag but we had a real sunny day, 62 degrees, nice
Tomorrow the rain returns, oh well. We should be getting some real nice blooms in the next moth or two.

Mick, thanks for the new thread. Sorry your detecting day didn’t turn up much. Hope yo enjoyed the day anyway.

PQ, I read the last thread, sorry to hear about your son. Food poisoning is awful, been there & done it, ugh. Hope he’s much better tonight.
I am going to have to get my hair cut again real soon. It grows so fast & I’m not the kind of person who wants to spend time doing anything with it - hence the frequent cuts. Hope you like yours

Cyn, do you have any opportunity to contact other students doing that course? It’s not a bad idea to have a person or two to exchange ideas, questions, etc.
I really don’t know what I want to do with. The rest of my time on the planet. After 20 years this year of the embroidery I feel like it’s time to do something else but I seriously don’t have a lot of drive left in me. I need to spend some time thinking or just finally decide to really retire. Crazy, never pictured I’d be in this spot. I’m glad to hear your nephew is getting some treatment. I’m sure he needs to sort out a lot of stuff & decide how he wants to live too. I’m hoping for the best for him & his family.

Slo, hope your weekend was good & yo were able to get out today!

Hello to Pauly, Det & Sam. Miss seeing you all.

Pi, how’s the new plants doing?

The news about the EF4 tornado in Mississippi is just dreadful. I can’t imagine such destruction.
In a county north of us there was a probable gas explosion which brought down a chocolate factory on Friday. Last I heard there’s 5 dead & several still missing. You just never know what’s around the corner, do you?

Take care all & hoping everyone has a nice night.

      Re: 26 March

Mae all, I'm not sure anyone but Lav saw what I wrote yesterday, so here's a re-post (below)... Lav, there is a "Community Forum" but no other place in this course. I'll get the hang of it... just learning a lot of new technology and use all at once... hopefully I get the hang of it. Mick, glad that you got out and about - sorry that there was nothing of interest, but I'm sure there will be something soon. PPQ, SLO and Pie, hoping all is well with you. Yes Lav, I miss Pauly, Det and Sam too - hey folks if you are out there - know that we are thinking of you!
      --------------

"Mick, sorry you lost your post - but congrats on the car! And here's hoping that you found some fine things today...

Lav, so sorry about your brother - but as you say, you have learned to live with it... I'm glad that you still have contact with his sister, somehow that helps. Sorry about all the rain... I would find that draining!

SLO - sorry about your houseguest, but glad that she came and went! My friends in your area of the midwest are getting slammed with snow - I know they say March is the snowiest month, but seriously...

PPQ - oh dear, what a story about your son... poor guy, it sounds dreadful. What a good mom to go out and get all the right things to help him feel better... well done you...

Pie - what a champ you are to drop everything and go to an animal in need - that is so inspiring. I look forward to your incoming long post!

Well, my godson had another visit to ER last night, and then transferred to the psych ward. His wife was relieved at that turn of events... when she saw him he was doing better (finally letting the meds do their work, he sees the future as better than before, etc.) ... my heart breaks for him. But at least now the 5 kids (4 at home) will be safer and not have to navigate his behavior. Sigh. Life can be so hard on kids/people/even pets.

Another day of work on my studies. And reading books and reporting on them. It's really only the technology that is hard for me, though the instructor is really specific about the information to include in reviews and replies... I'll get the hang of it. I actually was able to put in my own picture in the Avatar space... a miracle, even if it took me a good half-hour!
I'm following your advice, Lav! I'm sure I'll get in a "groove" soon...

      May we be well -
      TG"

        Re: 26 March

I saw your post, TG. Rest assured, I always read your Saturday post. Your nephew has a lot of kids. That’s such a shame that war messed with him. It’s hard for his wife too, I’m sure.

I’m actually going to start babysitting Huxley on Mondays now, so I’m sleeping over at their house now. Today I helped my mother with more of her packing. It’s weird to dive into people’s possessions at end-of-life or when helping someone downsize. (Right, TG?!) People sure buy & keep a lot of crap!

It was so nice to get to see Andy and his parents at brunch today! And with Hux and his parents too! I did hold Andy a little bit too. Such a big boy: he’s half the age of Huxley, but the same size!

Too bad your friend got the coin out of that patch of dirt already, Mick! How is your Hogwarts model coming along?

Lav, (your brother) drunk-posting on Facebook: another good reason not to drink! Yikes.
You really could just retire, l guess.
What games do you all like to play on your phones? I do Words with Friends, Solitaire, Wordle…

PQ, you really understand! It is good to get a break in routine with a friend staying over, but then also good to get back into one’s routine! Yes, your son picked the right night to be sick, to fit into your schedule! Glad he’s doing better.

Night all. Pie & the hound too.

The dog I picked up was just about 10 miles from me. SheÂ’s fairly new to that home, and theyÂ’re experiencing some adjustment anxiety. I think my job is to keep the dog here, to allow them all some time to calm down and re-set. Respite care, I guess. SheÂ’s about 65 pounds. Meantime, my 3 are littles, 10-15 lbs. PQ you made me laugh remembering the paw count! 16 would be the correct number today too.

TG, high fives on the yellow car! Excellent visibility to other drivers, and easy to spot in a parking lot. My own vehicle is a metallic kiwi color.

Mick no kidding, another visit to the dentist? The guy probably wants to admire his work from time to time, so keeps you coming in. My bougie is fuschia.

Slo, the dust here of late is the heavy green pollen variety. I have an extra air filter in my condo that helps.

Lav, IÂ’m trying to do a better job of plant selection this year. So far have bought only the ones capable of withstanding our summer heat. Blue Plumbago and Mexican Feather Grass are two IÂ’m trying.

PQ, must have been miserable for your oldest to fall ill while driving. Remind me the internet games you like?

MAE ALL...sorry for missing yesterday but spent a lot of time sleeping and then the day was over. Early to bed as I was to meet my IT guy here at work at 7am.

Mick...sorry you didn't find anything yesterday but that's the way it goes sometimes. We all ended up sleeping throughout the day yesterday. He's doing much better, at least the vomiting has stopped!

Pi...lucky 16 eh? LOL How long will you be keeping the dog? Hope he's better behaved for you.

Slo...glad you were able to hold Andy. they grow up so fast. So Monday's is babysitting again. Plans always change.

Lav...I find it a little hard to see you actually retire. I don't think you're one to sit around but I'm sure there's always something to do at the house/yard.

TG...I'm glad your godson is where he should be. I remember how relieved I was every time I got my ex into the psych ward, at least I could take a breather. Good job on the avatar picture! Slow and steady, you'll get the hang of it.

Sorry my posts are so short today. Just wrapping things up at work and then I've got some errands to run before heading home. Wanted to post now because I may be too tired to later. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

                Greetings friends,

We had a nice first half if the day then a sudden down pour, stupid weather haha!!
I think my mojo is stuck between seasons & that’s why I’m feeling restless & wondering if I need to make changes. It’s all the weather’s fault!!!! I am NEVER bored because I do have lots of interests, just feel that the weather is holding me up.

Cyn, hope your day was good & your studies are coming along.

Slo, I sit with the iPad & like to play WoW (World of Words), Word Connect , Mahjong, Jigsaw puzzles, etc. all very entertaining & relaxing.
Glad you got to see your grandsons, they grow so darn fast! Yesterday I used the leftover pulp from making almond creamer in my Almond Cow to make cookies with coconut & dairy free chocolate chips - yum .

Mick, I guess we’re on the same crappy sleeping schedule again. I have no idea why I wake up almost every hour on the hour, annoying.
I think after a lifetime of being super busy I’m just not sure how to be less busy, crazy.

PI, respite care for dogs, interesting. I don’t have a fenced yard so I’m reluctant to do anything like that. My beagle mix stays close to home because I have her on an electronic collar. She always gets so worked up when someone else brings a dog in the house. Good luck with the plants, I hope the heat is kind to them.

PQ, I think part of my problem is I no longer spend lots of time watching grandkids the way I did for years. I just haven’t properly filled in that time with something else that’s actually useful. My brain works in strange ways. Glad you’re rested up & ready for the week.

Hello to all & wishing everyone a nice night.
Praying for the victims of yet another school shooting today in Nashville. WTH is wrong with people???

                      Re: 26 March

Congratulations, Lav!! 14 whole years of freedom from alcohol -amazing! You took back control of your life. Your grandchildren never knew the other you! What a role model they now have in you.

My divorce was one year ago today. I can see that I have been spinning my wheels and not really moving forward for an entire year now. It’s time to stop that! You can’t go backwards! You can’t live with regrets & what-ifs! I want to blossom and find my stride, and I need to move forward and embrace my new life.

I babysit Huxley now on Mondays in order to be a bridge between the weekend with his parents and his days at day care. Then his day care days will be contiguous. So, this should be a good new plan.

Pie, now where have I seen that green dust before? I think it must have been when daughter D3 & her HB lived in Texas!

Lav, the way Mick said it: create your own goals & targets for projects that you are interested in. I can see where a hole got left when the grandchildren grew and don’t need babysitting anymore. Come Summer when school is out, they will likely be coming around more.

I was the opposite, Mick: couldn’t fall asleep last night, then slept in too late.
Now the trick will be to not turn your new car into a bin!

Thanks for posting before you got too tired yesterday, PQ. Hopefully your son is all better now, and your household can return to normal.

TG, yes, you really dove right in to your new course of study. I was proud too when I once figured out how to post my photo on a site. I usually leave that blank.

Later today I will head up to D1’s, so I can wake up there tomorrow and be helpful to her with the infant & toddlers. It’s not much help to offer (only one day), but it’s all I have available this week. Luckily her MIL is coming for a week for all of next week.

                        Greetings friends,

Happy Tuesday to all. It’s my day off (I don’t have to pick up grandson from school) so I did a little more kitchen packing. The cabinet painters will be here on April 5. Still tossing as much as i’m packing, haha. Thanks for the AF Congrats. My brain is so strange these days. I knew the anni was coming up yet when it got here I actually forgot about it until yesterday, haha. Covid brain? Can I blame it on that??

Slo, this past year was certainly hard for you. Maybe you just needed a bit of time to adjust to your new ‘normal’. You have filled lots of time looking after grandkids & that’s wonderful. I really think we do need to redo our goals after big life changes. Things change & we need to change with them for balance. Glad your childcare schedule is shaping up to everyone’s benefit

PQ, thank for. Your kind words too!
I hope everything is cool with you today

                        PI, thank you as well!

Hello to Mick, Cyn, Pi & everyone looking in tonight.

                        Have a nice night all!

MAE ALL...in between event rental inquiries I spent time working on the tennis booking program. Made me think of you TG. Another steady day with no drama. Noticed that the boss and accountant have been filling up the calendar booking vacation days before and after long weekends. I told him to knock it off or there wouldn't be any for me to book. I am definitely going to spend some time booking some days off tomorrow.

Slo...you've been through a lot last year, including a lot of firsts. Give yourself some time to sort things out. You're doing all the right things, keeping busy with your grandkids. I was lost after my divorce and it took a year for me as well to get to the point where I had to figure out what I was going to do with the rest of it. I've always loved being helpful to others so the community centre was a good fit. I originally emailed asking about volunteer opportunities and they offered me a job. I've never looked back.

Lav...I'm glad you clarified your day off, I was thinking from what? Cooking? LOL Obviously I've missed a post, getting the cabinets painted? What a good motivator to get those cabinets cleaned out. When I moved in I replaced the shelving paper on the first level of the kitchen cabinets and that's as far as I got. I need to purge it all and give it a good cleaning. I think you're right about the weather having an effect on your mojo. It's been dragging on forever. I don't think it's covid, I always forgot about my anni until Mick would say something. Our dates were very close.

Pi...how's it going with the extra 4 feet in the house?

Mick...I've got a call into cyber space to see if they have a post from you floating around.

TG...I hope you had a good day.

It's taco's for dinner tonight so must get at it. Have a restful evening all....:smile:PPQP

                            Mae all,

Sorry to miss posting yesterday - CONGRATS to Lav on your anniversary! You are a beacon for so many. I was very nervous last night... I was trying to catch up on the work, and understand where things were on the "Blackboard and Assignments" and Prompts and I don't know what all. I used to be a really good student, but this online business is really hard fo me... everything starts to "swim" on the page, I feel like a rabbit going down a million different holes and can't find my way back. (sorry if I said this already... my brain really is fried.) I missed the deadline for the first assignment, did the wrong thing for the second, and basically was not doing well. Today was the first module quiz today, and I nailed it, thank goodness. The course is filled with medical field, social work and therapeutic language - none of which I have ever had exposure to, so I am lost! I think it is a good field for me - I have already sort of functioned in that capacity with friends and family, but it will be great to really learn the protocols. Lav, my hat is off to you for your years of nursing!

And Lav - congrats on your years of AF living! I hope things dry out enough for you to get outside... you'll feel better then.

PPQ - good thing you can get in there and nab some of those days off!

SLO - Thank you for talking about this watershed for you - 1 year. I hope that you will be feeling stronger each day - you are so present for your family, it is very impressive.

Mick - I hope you love the car! The bunnies are happy in the hay?

Pie - how good of you to take on a bigger dog like that... even people who will foster or adopt want to do the right thing, but of course the pups need their timeline to get used to life in a different way. I'm sure you and your gang will make the new pup feel welcome. I have had 3 rescues, and even with some tricky starts, they were wonderful - I miss them all so much...
OK, going to try to get my brain to chill out a little bit...May we be well -
                            TG

TG...just popping in before going to bed. When I read your post it brought back memories of me trying to learn the new Out of School Care program we acquired from New Zealand. I would find myself going around in circles and getting lost. The biggest problem was getting used to their wording/terminology. I would spend hours and "finally get it" only to be completely lost the next day. My trick was to write down the troubling terminology and assign my own wording. When working through the program I would see my own words and eventually got used to their terms. Congrats on nailing your first module quiz, that must have been a huge confidence builder for you. Sending positive vibes for your ongoing learning.
