    Re: 26 March

mae all,how are we all doing?hope things are good .few things going on over here atm, which we need to try and sort, and Julies dad isnt too well either .Went to pick the car up yesterday,it was getting its final inspection and there were a couple of scratches on it ,so they wouldnt release it .Instead they are bringing it over today.More concerned over other things than that .anyway not to worry.

Firstly Lav ,apologies for not mentioning your 14 year victory over booze. You have done really good ,but not only that ...you have helped numerous folk on here with your posts and attitude. You have a "say it as it is " style ...not too many bushes get beaten about with you!I thank you for your help support and friendship. hope the packing is going ok.

hiya teegee ,how are you doing? hope all is good with you ,but maybes you should take it a bit easy, not necessarily physically, but maybe mentally?do you do anything like meditation etc?just take care of your good self. The rabbits love hay.especially soft timothy hay .he spends his life in a box eating it!!!

hiya slo ,how are you doing today?hope all is well on your march forward in life .are you babysitting today?yes I have already been threatened about turning the car into a skip on wheels!!whatever you do ...hope you have a good day.

hiya pie how are things with you?how is the pup doing?do you keep in contact with the places you take them to on a regular basis?

hiya ppqp how are you doing?book your holidays!!I think there are a good few posts floating around in cyber space!!how is your son now? everything back on an even keel?hope so.

right good people ...have a good day

      Re: 26 March

      Greetings friends,

Nice day here but the next few nights will be pretty cold again, ugh. Feel sorry for the permanent outside cat but she seems to take it all in stride.

Mick, I love the power wash & powers rinse for the cat, haha, just may try that at some point.
I have many quite a few really good friends here over the past 14 years, you included, thanks!

PQ, I definitely feel better after two sunny days. I have been sneaking out & doing some clipping little by little. I just don’t want the mud stained knees in my jeans that YB walks around with hahah!!
It’s really amazing how much clutter just happens after 20 years in one place. I think moving every once in a while may be wise! Make sure you get your time off on the schedule. I remember having so many of my requests denied because the others had gotten there first, ugh.

Cyn, an online class is really different from sitting in the classroom but you will get the swing of it I’m sure. I did most of my CEUs online for my nursing license renewals which was so much better than spending your day off in a lecture somewhere. Before they offered the online option we could also do them by snail mail, haha!
Go easy with all the info you’re taking in, it will all make sense to you at some point, I promise. If you can get your hands on a Taber’s medical dictionary it would help a lot. There’s an online version now: Taber’s Medical Dictionary Online + App | Tabers.com. Good luck & thanks for your kind words.

Pie, Slo, hello to you both

      Have a nice night all!

        MAE ALL...

Mick...sorry to hear you are dealing with "things" but it sounds like you've got it under control. Son is fine, everything is back on an even keel. Hope things work out ok for Julie's Dad.

Lav...don't blame you about the mud stained knees. LOL Glad you're able to get out a bit at a time and that it helps. We had a bright sunny day with temps around 41F and it felt glorious. Overcast and cold tomorrow and more snow on the weekend. I am so DONE with this weather.

I'm starting feel a little overwhelmed at work right now. Had a meeting with the boss & accountant in regards to a new Corporate Membership roll out and just cringed with every suggestion. Boss figured he could get his part time facility staff to do the work, good luck with that because I don't have time. Told him later in the day I hadn't even gotten to the tennis programing today and he said why, events? I didn't ask you for anything. Told him I've been searching for the "website traffic tracking" and he said oh ya, guess I asked you to do that. Geeze. First thing tomorrow I'm booking my days off!!

Waves to Pi, Slo, TG. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

          Mae all,
I was just about to turn in after taking notes and watching videos, but then realized I hadn't said good night to you all!

Mick, you sound somewhat burdened... I hope all will work out, whatever you are facing. "Timothy Hay"! Why is everything in your island given sushc beautiful names?

Lav, so glad to hear that you are getting outside a bit - same weather here, cold and blowy mostly, with some sun occasionally. time for April! Thx for the medical dictionary, I'm sure I"ll use it. Right now it's more "education'ese' that is getting to me. I just figured out what people meant by the work "cohort", sheesh. Take care!

PPQ - OKay, I want to hear tomorrow that you BOOKED your days off! Gotta stand your ground - good job on the bosses "wake-up".

Pie, I hope things are going well at your wonderful "home -away-from home". SLO - hoping that babysitting has not carried you away - you need some "me" time.

Tonight I watched a thrilling video about the beginning of the Hospice movement. So inspiring!! Especially Cicely Saunders in England at the beginning of it all - this was an amazing video; very heart-ful. It reminded me why I am taking this course and how deeply I feel about helping people in the dying stages of life. Hopefull that recognition will keep me going!

Hoping all are taking care of themselves, may we be well -
          TG

hiya all ,,how are we today then? hope all is good with everyone .Doctor has been to Julies dad ..he hasnt been eating for days ...and what happens? the doc turns up on the day he decides to eat something!!They are going to do a complete blood analysis etc on him .Tried to get in touch with my brother ...no joy there.its pouring down with rain..then stops and the sun comes out .Car looks well drove it to yoga last night .

hiya teegee ,how are you today? hope all is well with you.yep Timothy Hay ,Orchard Hay ..Cohort?I doubt its used in this sense...a cohort was a number of soldiers in the Roman Army..80 soldiers in a century,6 centuries in a cohort,10 cohorts in a legion..see? the useless stuff you learn on here.

hiya ppqp ...time to trawl out the time sheet and list of just jobs he gives you .As teegee says take time off for you.snow at the weekend?eek .we are away this weekend so hopefully no snow.you take care ,

hiya Lav ,how are you this fine day?Ive got the rabbits on elastic....they are in and out like yoyos because of the rain.plants are starting to grow here, but at the same time the frost has nipped the top flowers on the camelia bush.We just bought a big television(65 inch)so that we could watch some of the stuff we have recorded in the past. Ive got all the holidays and trips going back to 2004 ,Russia China Thailand USA x4 Cambodia ,Vietnam,India x2Pakistan ,Italy France Egypt Greece Spain Canaries Gib France Belgium,Turkey and a few more plus the uk ones..I think there are over 6000 photos and 500 plus vids ..the idea was to watch them on the big screen ....wrong ..it wont accept usb connections ..so it goes back its a fair lump to wrap up. As for clutter,,,tell me about it !!!I could fill a rubbish tip from here !!

hiya Slo ...hope all is well with you ,and the babysitting is going ok .

hiya pie how are you doing?

              Hello Good People!
I’ve fallen behind on everyone’s stories from the last few days, so just raising my hand for the attendance count. Figure it beats being counted as absent.
Lav, you posted a sentiment earlier in the week that resonated. Will attempt an additional post with quote to ask you about it.

                  Re: 26 March

                  Hey friends,

Sunny & a chilly 45 degrees at the moment. Rain is due tomorrow & Saturday even though I didn’t order any haha!!

Mick, I hope they get to the bottom of Julie’s Dad & his not wanting to eat. Happens a lot in that age group unfortunately. Bloodwork may show something.
Sorry about your plan to view all those photos & videos. That’s one big TV & I really don’t know how they work with accessories. Good luck with that project. Hoping we don’t see any more frosty weather.

Cyn, honestly in the old days we had ‘study groups’, now they call them cohorts, it’s ridiculous. Sounds like you picked the right field of study for yourself. Wishing you the best with your studies

PQ, I hate it when the busiest, most productive person at work gets taken advantage of but it does happen. Stand your ground baby & get those vacation days on the calendar!!!
We haven’t had half the winter you had but I am still READY for Spring haha!!!

Pi, it’s confusing not knowing what you want to do next. I have always been a focused person (believe it or not) & always knew what I wanted & needed to do. I think part of what’s really freaking me out is the knowledge that I will be turning 70 before the end of the year. My Mom & oldest brother never made it out of their 60’s. My Dad made it to 77 but was pretty much useless at that point. I don’t want to be like that so I have to get a plan together for myself.

Hello to Slo, hope you are well.

Just heard Trump will be indicted in NY, the Grand Jury has spoken. This should be interesting!!!
                  Have a nice night all!

                    Re: 26 March

                    Evening all,

I’m sorry I fell behind. I did travel to go help with the three little grandchildren, and it was full-on & exhausting! Not sure why they are having their kids so close together. D1 has been continuously pregnant and/or breastfeeding for four years straight so far, and counting!

Lav, I can see now why you are feeling at a crossroads with 70 looming on your next birthday, and it feeling like uncharted waters with the lack of longevity in some of your near family members. I get it; I will turn 60 right after you turn 70. Pie, I am lost for goals too, and can’t even find much interest in life or goals either. I just try to manage all these aches & pains that are emerging, and can fill my time well enough with these new grandchildren for now.

TG found a great goal that dovetails perfectly with her interests and with what she has been doing lately anyways (helping people at end-of-life). That movie about the early hospice movement sounds perfect for solidifying your “why” before you get into the nitty gritty of this course. My hat is off to you for taking on such a challenging online course!

My divorce anniversary threw me for a loop emotionally. I feel amputated from my life now. Too many things converged in my life (several surgeries, a chronic pain condition, emerging from alcoholism, brother’s suicide, his parents’ deaths and his sister’s dementia, empty nest, another brother’s struggles while working for HB, etc.etc. -and I just wanted out of my life and my frustrating, lonely marriage. I just couldn’t deal. I don’t know if I was thinking clearly or not, or if I should’ve tried to stay. But I was hurt, and frustrated, and angry, and boiled over. I needed to talk to him about some things, but talk is impossible with him, and I shut down and withdrew. I was hostile. And, we may have been better off trying to stay together, to maybe help each other through our upcoming old age? For our children & grandchildren? I don’t know. But what’s done is done. I need to move forward.

                      Re: 26 March

MAE ALL...I had a lady and her sister show up at the community centre this afternoon to book a room for her husband's celebration of life. He died last week. You could tell she was having a hard time and just wanted to get things done. We went through the process, the costs and a few suggestions from me. She said I'm so glad we came here, you've made everything so simple, I feel a lot less stressed now. How sweet. Doesn't matter what's happening at work a visit like this makes it all worthwhile.

Lav...we had the sun today along with a bitterly cold wind. Not nice at all. Yup, Trump indicted and he plans to show up in NY in person. "They" say it'll be a big political/protest stunt. Will it never end! When I had a minute to myself I started looking at the calendar and of course the Fridays & Mondays for the next 2 months have been booked off by the boss and accountant. I will take my time and figure out when my day(s) off will have the most effect on the two of them. Doesn't have to be a Monday or Friday. LOL

Pi...I see your hand, you're marked present. LOL We'll all put our thinking caps on and figure out a way forward for you.

TG...sorry didn't book but I do have a plan. LOL

Mick...of course Julies dad would be eating when the Doctor shows up. Hopefully the blood work will turn something up. Glad you're happy with the car and I hope there is no snow for you this weekend.

Got to cut this short, my brother just called. One of uncles was admitted to hospital yesterday so need to get the update.

Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

                        Mae all -

Mick - I think that is where "cohort" must come from... I find it strange that a military term is used in teaching now, but whatever. Thx for the information! Lav "Study Group" would work for me (wink). My other pet peeve is being asked to write things that will "grow" the conversation... uuugh, I know it's accepted, but I hate hearing the work "grow" used that way... for me, plants "grow" and it should stay right there. Sheesh, now I'm sounding really old. Good luck with Julie's dad... I know with my elder that I am with - she always says she's not hungry, but I pretend I don't hear her and I make some small things and put them on a pretty plate... pretty soon she's saying. Oh gosh, I was SO hungry!
And OMG on the travel front!!! I hope you find a machine that will play all of that - what fun to revisit all those places.
It's kind of fun to see that change. So hard when one is far away from parents... I wasn't able to do this for my own mom...

SLO - are you okay? Sending lots of support, if you are embattled...

PPQ - I'm sure you are busy getting ready for the "Friday Roundup"... I hope everything goes well, and you get the whole weekend off!

Pie - it sounds like you have a big version of Spring Fever. It was exactly that which made me look for a different line of work, and now my studies. It's an interesting time, looking at what else one can do in the world... I think there must be an updated version of "What Color is my Parachute?"... a classic from the 70s and 80s - though you are probably too young to remember that!

Lav - I think that perhaps with being close to the plants and out in the sun (finally) will give you some information about next steps... I always feel that nature gives good "counsel". And you have so many areas of interest - health, cooking, etc. You could be teaching classes somewhere. Good Luck!

Hello to Pauly, Det, Sam and all others dropping by. May we be well -

We three all cross-posted at the same time! I’ll add some more…

PQ, that is so lovely how you helped that grieving woman through the booking process for her husband’s end-of-life service; smoothing the way and giving her helpful tips.
Can you snag some three-day weekends off in June and July?

Mick, there’s another use for the word “century” that I wasn’t familiar with. I have heard of “legions” -now I know a “legion” is 4800!
You sure have seen a lot of the world lately! That’s annoying about having to get that large TV back.

My fingers are all swollen with arthritis now, nerves in my low back and piriformis are always hurting, knee hurts…welcome to old age.

My cat is not eating! Poor baby. I can get him in right away tomorrow morning.

                                Good evening friends,

Waiting for the rain to begin again & it’s making my joints ache haha!! I’ve realized these are the dumb things that have me constantly thinking about my age. I guess we have to accept the bad with the good at this point, oh well.

Mick, I just heard from my daughter. They’re at JFK airport waiting for their 8 pm British Airways flight to London. They have a hectic 10 day trip ahead but I know they’ll have a lot of fun. Skipping the Paris leg of the trip due to all the turmoil going on there & heading north to Lille instead. I hope she remembers her years of French. She was quite good when we last went 20 or so years ago.
Sounds like you are busy, I hope you have a good trip. And I hope you find a better TV for your pictures

Cyn, I know I’ll be a lot happier once we get thru this weather. Not sure why I’m so impatient this year. I certainly know we can’t rush Mother Nature.
As far as me teaching classes somewhere, I’ll take a pass, LOL. I’ve become such a loner over the years & my personal goal is to stay out of potential drama situations, haha. If I can possibly help you with your medical terminology or anything please just ask

Slo, are you in line of the big weekend snowstorm that was just reported on the news? That cold & damp weather must be really hard on you with your arthritis, sorry. Have you seen a Rheumatologist? I’ve been asked by by NP if I want a referral but I prefer to wait a little longer. I am not pain free but I am managing on OTCs for now. The Specialists can order better meds, maybe something to think about.
You have been through a lot but I think you’re on the right trajectory towards a calmer & more peaceful life ahead. All those grandbabies are quite a blessing right now, right? You have your new peaceful place to live & relax too. If you had stayed where you were nothing would have likely changed for the better. We can’t make other people change, I found that out myself. As a group I think we are all experiencing major life changes & I’m glad we can offer support to one another

PQ, I’m so glad to hear you have a plan, LOL!! I hope it’s a good one too !!
I’ll be making a huge bowl of popcorn to watch. The Trump show haha. I hope they nail the SOB. We also have a wind advisory up for the weekend, lucky us. I hope your weekend is good.

                                Pi, how are you today?

                                Have a nice night all!
