    Re: 26 March

    Good evening,

My cat Boyd turned ‘16’ today. He is doing poorly, and is overnight at the vet’s being rehydrated by IV, and is on pain meds and an anti-nausea medication. He has pancreatitis. My poor boy; he never adjusted to having to leave his home. I feel so badly for him. I wish ex-HB would have kept him after the divorce for Boyd’s sake; so Boyd wouldn’t have to leave his home, his yard, his dog, his fireplace. But, he doesn’t like cats.

It looks like I’m not quite in the bad part of the storm area, Lav. They are worried about possible tornadoes. I hear the rain starting now!
I’m not ready for a rheumatologist yet either. You & I both know that the only thing they can offer is powerful pain drugs that can be damaging to the rest of the body, but no cure. My fingers don’t hurt much -it’s just another way that I am breaking down and aging.

You’re right, Lav -nothing would have changed if we had stayed married. My patient sister is trying to tell me the same thing. There was no hope left for a good relationship. And there never really was a good relationship. How long can one hope for something that can’t be? 35 years was long enough.
While taking care of my former next door neighbor’s cat today, at the house next to my old house (ex-HB’s house), I was surprised that he left his house and waved to me from his truck in the middle of the morning! He is such a stickler for being at work by 7 am or so! Well, upon a little investigation…there was another car in the garage and a woman in the house. So, he has a girlfriend. Wish the daughters could have given me a heads up about this. Maybe I wouldn’t have grieved the divorce date so. Not their place I guess though. Well, good for him.

The dreadful news never ends, what with another school shooting the other day. So many calamities!

TG, “GROW the conversation”…I dislike dopey business world lingo!

PQ, thank you for indicating that it took you a full year to get over your divorce too. I love how the community centre was almost a calling for you, and then ended up being your job! And you found your new place in life, and never looked back! (Obviously I need to quit looking back, especially in light of new developments.)

Pie, how’s the big dog doing with your little dogs? Do they like having the visitor with them? It’s good that they have each other. Boyd is a little lonely all alone.

Mick, hope it’s a good trip for you & Julie; and her dad hangs in there.

Thank you for being my friends.

Mick, hope your weekend travel is great fun!

Slo, best wishes to Boyd. The treatment you describe sounds spot on for pancreatitis.

PQ, high fives to you for your gentle assistance to the widow.

TG, I think you’re right that viewing the need for change as an opportunity, is the way to go.

The Greyhound was due to leave on Friday, but the receiving folks backed out, so we’ll come up with a new plan. She’s a wonderful dog, calm, gentle, and fully house-trained. Biggest challenge is that she’s being treated for hookworms. Requires me to be diligent on keeping a clean yard. I’m using a garden sprayer to apply detergent and bleach to artificial turf.
Recent plants are looking so-so. A new dog means a lot of marking, and the new plants seem to be the favorite targets. I guess we’ll see.

          Re: 26 March

MAE All….sorry for missing yesterday but when I finally got home I was exhausted, made dinner and promptly fell asleep. Three pending rentals all decided they wanted to go for it, all at 3pm yesterday. One was the new widow and wanted to get her paperwork out of the way so she didn’t have to think about it over the weekend. I’ll be adding the overtime to my tracing sheet. LOL

TG…thanks for the kind words. Write things that would “grow” the conversation, huh. I can think of a few things that would start a conversation/argument. LOL I am definitely taking the whole weekend off although the boss did inform me of a couple of things he’s working on that immediately put me in panic mode. He’s thinking of renting the kitchen and one of our rooms to a group of people so they can do a pup up restaurant. It would take a lot of work off my plate if I had a standard answer, sorry we’re booked.

Slo…isn’t that the way, nobody posts and then everyone posts at the same time. LOL She was one of the late commitments and she took my advice and hired our preferred caterer for the event. Makes everything a lot easier as they’ll come in and do everything, setting the tables, decorations, cleanup, etc. She told me I’ve helped make the whole process so easy.

Mick…good plan on taking the car, sure hope you don’t need it. Argyle seems to be doing ok with his weekend getaways, he’ll be all over you when you get back. Uncle is still with us, but it doesn’t look good. He is 89 and has had some medical issues. No kidding about the boss/accountant booking weekends off. WTF. You can rest assured that I am not on weekend duty even if the boss is booked off. I hope you have great weather for your trip.

Lav…I am working out when the most work complicated/decision making events are taking place (and there’s a couple of them) then booking the day before and after off. LOL I’d join you with the Trump watch my teeth and popcorn do not get along. Yesterday I twisted to get out of my car, coughed at the same time and got a sharp pain on the left side. Reminded me of my first visit to the trauma unit with a collapsed lung when my sister died. The pain isn’t constant (only feel it when I cough) and not anywhere as severe as it was before. I’m just paranoid that I’ve fractured a rib again and don’t want to end up with another collapsed lung. I will be paying more attention to it this go around.

Slo…sorry to hear about Boyd’s condition but staying with ex-hub wouldn’t have been the right decision either. I do have to say that being recommended to my rheumatologist was the best thing that happened for me. The monthly biologic injection that I take makes a world of difference. The major concern was my iritis so it’s a bit different than your situation. The community centre was a lifeline for me. Except for those few years with the sh*t head GM, I’ve never looked back and feel I’m right where I should be. It’s hard not to look back but you’ll get there. I hope you’re not too impacted by the storm.

Pi…thanks for the high fives. I had a sneaky suspicion that the Greyhound wasn’t going back to those folks. I know you’ll come up with another plan. Of course the new plants are a favorite target. Good luck with rehoming the Greyhound, she’s in good hands.

Snuck out to get a few groceries before the snow starts this afternoon. It’s supposed to carry on until tomorrow. Then by Friday we’re shooting up to 64F/18C. That’s spring in Alberta for you.

          Have a good weekend all…:smile:PPQP

            Hey all,

We’re sitting in the basement waiting out a tornado warning, ugh. It’s quite ugly looking out there too. Fingers crossed!!

Slo, I sure hope Boyd has perked up a bit with his treatment. Poor guy
So your ex has a girlfriend, geez he didn’t waste any time. Can’t say I’m wishing either of them the best. Look at it this way, maybe she deserves him, Lol
Keep your ficus on your newfound peace

Mick, my daughter reported they had a rather intense flight to London, tons of turbulence making granddaughter & many others throw up, yuck. But the went to the Tower today & did the Beefeaters tour. So far so good. Enjoy your time away!

Pi, good luck with your greyhound visitor. I hope he shows you new plants some mercy haha!!

PQ, your plan sounds good, haha! You know we seem to be able to hurt ourselves doing next to nothing these days haha. I’m a good one for that!!
We hit 70 degrees today & I imagine that helped usher in this severe weather. I hope the snow report is a fake & you wake up to a warm & sunny day tomorrow

Cyn, hope you’re taking some free time from your studies this weekend.

Better get going, take care all.

Lav...oh no! Been watching the storm pictures on the news, wasn't sure how close it was to you. Praying you're not affected and you're safe. :heartbeat:

                Re: 26 March

Snow for PQ, tornadoes for Lav, and an unusually low humidity here in Houston. Climate change? No worries, right?
