So far I’m having a quiet holiday, and I like it. Lav, good idea to use the kitchen renovation project as an obvious reason to not be able to host. Your son & his family could take a turn inviting YOU over for dinner…but he is probably working today. Your daughter’s family trip sounds amazing, and a wonderful experience for your granddaughter at her age.

Your nephew is in deep, TG! Wow. I can see that that’s the hope: that this crack will let in the light, and usher in healing.

I hope you & Julie enjoy your day in Formby at the red squirrel sanctuary, Mick. The scenic photos you shared were so beautiful to look at!
Of course you fixed your own car leak! Why pay to have it done when you can take a stab at it and figure it out for yourself!
Loved the “Busy Doing Nothing” video! I had never heard that song before.

I got on fine with my brother, and brought him some food as a birthday present, and visited with my teenaged nephews & niece too. We went out for lunch at a great Mexican restaurant. (As a single dad who’s drunk a lot, he’s therefore not that good at planning -as in meal-planning and grocery shopping -so they end up defaulting to going out to eat a lot.)
So, I put that olive branch out that says: Mom may have dropped you like a hot potato, but you’re all still important to me.

Yes, you have developed an excellent strategy at work, PQ; to make sure you’re not taking on other people’s jobs.

I too took a lovely walk today! Thought I might pedal my bike around the neighborhood too, but it’s too windy today. And a bit too cold.

I have small Easter gifts for D1’s three children, but not sure I’ll be brave enough to stop by ex-HB’s house to see them and deliver them. And not sure how they’d come to my place during nap time. I would like to see the kids, because I’m realizing that I won’t be able to get up to their house during the next two weeks: I have to move my mother this week, and babysit Huxley most of the following week. We’ll see how things play out.

Sunny & fifty something today, not bad.
We refilled some of the cabinets today so it doesn’t feel so pathetic here in the kitchen. We have to wait until Thursday for the doors to be returned, that’s OK

Slo, glad your quieter holiday is working for you. I know we get used to having a houseful & cooking & baking our brains out to please everyone. I’ve really had enough of all that.
I would never hold my breath waiting for an invitation to our son’s house. My DIL does no cooking so whatever they eat is cooked by my son or takeout. He needs to rest on his days off, I’m good styaing home haha! Daughter & her family arrived home in NYC at 2 pm, then they have a 2 hr+ drive to home. They had a great trip for sure.
Glad your brother was receptive today, that’s a good step. Hang onto those gifts for the 3 grandchildren, they’ll be happy to get them another time

why can i never find this thread, i did manage when i clicked Slo's profile and saw where she had posted and found it. Thanks Slo. How did you manage to give up chocolate other than stop eating it ha ha, any tips appreciated.

All doing fine and dandy here, off to catch up with my daughter to hear about her holiday in Vietnam and just spend some time with her. Life gets so busy these days and its the small things that are important, like the kids.

Happy Easter All...

Temps shot up to 18C/64F and it was a gorgeous day. Had an unexpected invite to my brothers' for an impromptu BBQ. My nephew, his wife and 2 kids live here and my niece, her husband and 3 kids had a change of plans and drove in from BC. So it turned out to be a potluck BBQ and lots of fun and games in the backyard. I haven't seen them for ages, they're not babies anymore. Just home now so am going to put my feet up.

mae all how are we doing today then? hope all is going good and that everyone had a good weekend .Went to Formby yesterday,guess how many squirrels we saw?a big fat zero.they must have been all on holiday!!We ended up doing a nice walk through the pine forests and then down to the beach.No matter the object for me was to cheer Julie up and it worked ,plus it gave the new car a run out .Raining today ,but that has its bonuses ....checked the boot no water ingress .

Slo - oh, I am so glad that in the end the day was a good one for you - congrats. You do have a loving, giving heart - things have a way of working out, but it does take time....

Pi - sending cool breeze thinking to you - and hoping the heat stays away for awhile - how are the pups doing?

PPQ - sending extra resolve to you as you head back into the work week - you stay strong and protect yourself, okay?

I am not sure what's going on with my brain... too tired, or something not right - I was a half-hour late to our Easter family meal at my niece's in a city an hour away... and i didn't even realize it! Everybody was nice about it -- and maybe it was okay - it gave family something else to obsess about beyond my nephew's situation. I supported my brother by going to Easter Vigil and Easter Services (he's a Verger at the Cathedral - Ted you will know what that is...) he is the Silent type, so I know he is worried about his son, so I just showed up to be a silent witness.

Hoping this brain fog will lift soon - I'm not doing grains, so not sure what else it could be, but oh well. Flying out to the west coast on Thursday, so hoping I can see some improvement by then - adding Omegas today!

Flying out to the west on Thursday for various reasons - maybe a change of housing will help figure this all out...

Mick...well done on cheering Julie up. You guys, and I do mean both of you, are dealing with a lot. Glad to hear the fix on the car leak is holding up. More activity out there in the world but we are closed today. It's another nice, warm, sunny day so did get out for a walk. Now it's time to get ready for the week ahead and start the laundry. LOL

Pi...hope you had a pleasant and peaceful Easter as well. Did fall into a bit of depression/worry as I'm dealing with money issues yet again. Every time I'm short on funds I fall into a funk which miraculously disappears when I get paid. The solution to that is to rework my budget, a goal for this week.

It was a nice day in teh neighborhood, sunny & 64 degrees
I pretty much have all the cabinets restocked but anything that was in drawers has to wait. The drawers are sitting in a pile in the corner while the fronts are being painted. Good thing I don’t mind living like a gypsy for a while, haha!

Ava, good to see you here. I hope your daughter had a great trip, sounds exciting!

PQ, wow, you’re having my weather now. The BBQ sounds like it was great. I’m happy you got a chance to see family for the holiday, very nice

Do you have hawks over there that pick off all the squirrels like we do? My daughter came home with one complaint - a lack of fruits & vegetables. She said she couldn’t even get a salad but she was served chip (fries) with everything haha!! They definitely had a good trip, made lots of memories. They all the the Harry Potter exhibit, haha!

Cyn, I often feel like I’m running a day late & a dollar short so to speak. Don’t be too hard on yourself please. You have been very preoccupied with your studies, etc.
I take it you’re going to see your nephew & his family in CA? I wish you a safe trip, take good care of yourself.

You can always get the gifts to the kids without going over to your ex's. Make your own plans for seeing them on your terms. They can come to you and you can start new traditions.

I wanted to go to my ex’s! That was my house for almost 30 years. I wanted to play with my little grandkids in what was once my big backyard; to play with the balls I was giving them. Beckett loves playing in that yard! I wanted to push them on the swings that I once pushed my kids on. I wanted to hold & rock my infant grandson on the glider swing. Why can’t I have visitation rights for an hour? Why can’t things be amicable?? It would only make sense to stop by, on my way before I pick up my sister and then my mother for dinner. It would make it more convenient for them, instead of hauling around three babies, while navigating naps etc. Ex-HB said I could. It was D1 who didn’t want me there.
How can I make my own plans with my daughters if they’re all cagey, and won’t let me know what they’re doing on Easter? And I can’t make plans if I’m not let in on the plans! “We’ll go to dad’s for brunch and then we’ll see Mom in the afternoon”…except none of them let ME know this!
I do an awful lot of driving to go up and help out at D1’s house with all the kids. Now I see it’s not a two-way street though; they drive down to my area and don’t bother to let me see the grandkids! Toddlers who could forget about me, and an infant who is growing rapidly. Might need to cut back on this one-sided relationship. And the Easter gifts can be returned.

mae all...how are we today then? all good I hope.sunny but windy here today ,both rabbits are out on the grass.I laid Jeeves to rest yesterday under his favourite log ,it was upsetting ,and as soon as I had done ot and replaced the log ,Argyl ,jumped on it and sat down the very same as he used to.I have got to take the van over to Preston this afternoon ,to get a new circuit board put in the air extractor ..its on a similar remote as the television so that when you switch one on the television comes on .

hiya Slo ,hoot are you today? it sounds like things are kind of mixed up and causing you a lot of torment and confusion Is there no way you can get in touch with them all ,tell them how you feel,and what you would like,and find out how they feel about it all?at least then you would know rather than the confusion that seems to be reigning at the moment ..I appreciate that it isnt my business ,but trying to help.hope you get it sorted for your own peace of mind.

Hi all, it’s a cool and sunny Tuesday here, about to take dogs out walking. My patio roof cover leaks a bit when it rains, so bought some sealant to fix it. May get that project started today.
While catching up on posts, it reminded me how caring and generous y’all are in sharing thought about issues that arise. Feels like a privilege to be among you fine people.
PQ, the rising cost of everything is alarming. Thanks for mentioning a budget review; think I’ll follow your lead to keep worry at bay.

Mick...aw how sad and sweet at the same time. I thought you were talking about your tv in your house but then I figured it out. LOL Not sure I knew you used to work with Julie's Dad. I try not to worry so much about money and reworking the budget will help. Getting the boys to pay up what they owe me will help even more. LOL Haven't worked out my holidays yet, under some deadlines at the moment. Got to work and boss was in and building guy was off. Totally confused me. Thought maybe building guy had been in an accident as he usually texts me if he's late. Asked the boss if I'd missed something and he said sorry didn't I email you? No, Geeze.
