Re: 9th April

Mae all,

Thanks for the kind words, Pie - so good to have you here, thanks for being a part of the gang. Crossing fingers for you and the "fix" with the bonding cement.

Mick, the story of laying Jeeves to rest made me teary -- and then to read that Argyll hopped right up?! A sacred spot. Even though we know they are gone, their laid-to-rest spots are so special... I was just thinking about how to get out to the East to visit my sweet pups' grave in my previous-neighbors land... must figure that out. Also to see my dear human friends, of course! Sending support to you and to Julie...

Lav, thanks for the mini-travelogue with your kids... sounds like it was a fantastic time for them. I've heard others talk about the Harry Potter experience, and they raved about it. Here's hoping that your good weather holds so that you can get outside a bit. 82 degrees here today! (Couldn't we just stick with 65 for awhile?)

PPQ - glad you have "the look" to give co-workers when they trespass, lol! Yes, budgeting is a great help - seeing things written down on paper sure does clear up some assumptions... I now make it a habit to look at everything late Sunday nights, so I'm ready for the week, and no surprises. Working okay so far... we'll see how long I can keep it up!

SLO - it sure sounds like you have a difficult situation on your hands. I was particularly surprised that D1 is happy to have you drive up to help her, but won't reach out when she is at your Exs... even when he is okay with it? Sounds pretty convoluted... really wishing you the best with all of that... hopefully time will help, but I'm sure it hurts now.

I am trying to get everything done before my Thursday departure. I managed to get my assignments in a day early, so at least that CRUNCH is done with for a few days. I am going out to Tahoe first to - get this - dog sit! There are dear friends out there that put out a request on FB, months ago about needing someone. I PM'd them, just saying that if they got stuck, I would come out just for airfare... but they engaged me right away. I took it because at least I am then closer to seeing my step-daughter. And as it turns out, she will need my help to start packing her up for a mover - she took a different job in a city a ways away, so at least I can help her get ready. Never a dull moment.

Thank you for thinking of/asking about my godson... he is currently in a 3-week program (which sounds pretty slight to me...) for AL, suicide attempt, major PTSD, and probably some other issues. He's fought many battles, but this one is on a different "plain". I am writing to him - we can't call - so sending good energy his way as well.

Take care all - hoping you have some sunshine --
TG

Re: 9th April

Greetings folks,

Good day but ny feet are killing me, just walked another 3 miles today haha! My BP may be good but my feet feel like death warmed over.
Anxious for the painter to return on Thursday so I can finish putting my ‘new’ kitchen together

Slo, I’m sorry you’re receiving shitty treatment from some of your family. While reading your post I thought - how about a family zoom meeting? Everyone can state their desires & wishes & reasons for doing what they’re doing. Just a thought but I hope it all gets settled soon, hang in there

Mick, sad day for you with Jeeves. We still haven’t buried our big dog Maxie’s ashes, don’t know why because it’s been several years now.
The kids really enjoyed their trip overall & supposedly now my granddaughter is expert reading train schedules, haha!! The Amish family 2 doors down has a cow that sounds like a fog horn, it’s hysterical.

PQ, you’re back to winter weather & we’re heading back to the upper 80’s Thursday & Friday, ugh. That’s when I get really uncomfortable.
Sounds like your boss is having periods of confusion Lol. Good luck getting the sons to pay you what they owe, they should know better.

Pie, good luck with your fixit skills. I used to be OK doing some of that stuff, now not so much.

Cyn, hope you are OK tonight.

Have a nice night all!

Re: 9th April

Good evening,

Had a gorgeous, hot, sunny day here! I helped my mother pack up lots of boxes and also bagged lots of clothes today, for her impending move out of her house and to her new independent living senior apartment. She’s a clothes horse. Can’t imagine having that many clothes! The moving truck comes on Thursday.

I hear you, Lav, RE needing to move and walk for our hearts and blood pressure, etc. -but then it hurts our joints! I have a heating pad on my knee now.

No, no offense taken, PQ. I tussled with D1 enough. I will follow Mick’s three questions to talk to D2 & D4 about the holiday. Just will back off of going to D1’s house for now. I need a break from them. New baby or not.

That’s so touching how Argyl took Jeeve’s place/usual position after the burial. That is interesting that you worked with Julie’s dad as well as with Julie, Mick. All in the family in the nick.

It’s hard to budget now what with all the rising prices, PQ. I am keeping track of absolutely all of my expenditures. It is eye-opening. The boys really do need to be paying their share towards the household.

Maybe the change of scenery at the dog-sitting house, and packing up your stepdaughter, will shake up your brain dog, TG. I love how those two dovetailed together.

available, I gave up chocolate as a first step to getting off caffeine. But then I never could quit caffeine. I need the chocolate gone anyhow, because it is high in copper, and I am trying to reduce my copper level.

Hi Pie. I appreciate this thread too.

Hey kids,

80+ degrees today. & plenty of sunshine.
Can’t wait until this kitchen job gets finished up tomorrow, tired of rooting through boxes looking for garlic powder or whatever haha!

Slo, I hope your Mom is happy in her new apartment. It should make life quite a bit easier for her, you’ve done a lot to help her get ready for the move.
I’m missing 30 minutes of my prescribed 60 today - oh well. Resting my tired feet today was necessary. Hope your knee is better now.

Mick, yo seem just as busy as ever! I wouldn’t expect any less from you
The kids said they did ride the tube in London & it wasn’t half as scarey as the metro in Paris haha! I remember a few hair raising rides there myself.
Kind of like the idea of a chicken dating service, haha!

PQ, hope your day was fabulous!

Cyn, wishing you safe travels, we’ll be thinking of you

Pie, hope your day was a good one too.

Have a nice night all!

Re: 9th April

Evening greetings,

I slept well last night after all the physical labor packing boxes & bags yesterday! Stayed busy today too: got my cleaning & laundering & cooking done, etc. Took my car in and had to get a new “under engine shield” put on. If they made it out of something besides glorified felt -like, say, metal! -it might actually last the duration of the car’s life! And that’s $250 worth of felt.

It was 83 degrees here today! But with super high winds. It was 90 degrees F in young daughter’s college town!
Said daughter had to take her boyfriend in to the hospital today for an emergency appendectomy! I was shocked, as he seemed fine on Sunday when I saw him.
They didn’t waste any time with him, and sent him right home. I would’ve thought they would keep him overnight anyways.

I didn’t even realize that they had a Harry Potter studio tour in London. It must be quite extensive since that YouTube video is 2 hours long.
The daughters were obsessed with Harry Potter. We took them to the Universal Studios Harry Potter world in Florida.
“Did you hear about the guy whose left side was cut off?” --I like that one!

A one-hour daily walk sounds too long, Lav. Maybe settle for a half hour one. Your feet will thank you.

Safe travels tomorrow, TG!

Hope you’re feeling accomplished and that things are humming along with your long to-do list at work this week, PQ.

Did you get that big dog re-homed, Pie?

I get to sleep with the window open tonight!

Re: 9th April

Wow, where is everyone today? I hope you’re all OK!!

87 degrees today, freaky hot for this time of year. I think rain is moving in for the next few days. The painter was here, my cabinet doors & drawers are back, looks great. We just have to wait a few days before we put the knobs back on so the paint hardens a little more. Glad that job is over

Slo, my feet feel better today so I decided I’m not doing anymore 60 min walking days provided my BP stays low. What a pain in the a$$.
Slept better too now that we’re out of the full moon thing. I know my daughter purchased those Harry Potter tickets while she was booking flights, hotels, trains, etc. I have no idea what the cost was but she said she was surprised how much she liked it, haha!

Hello to Mick, PQ, Cyn, PIe & everyone stopping by.

Have a nice night all!

Re: 9th April

MAE ALL…I was exhausted when I got home yesterday but met all my deadlines. I was going to post after I got dinner over but ended up just going to bed. LOL

TG…hope you were able to get everything done before heading out today. Of course they engaged you to dog sit right away, who wouldn’t. LOL Just a quick stop over before seeing your step-daughter. Sounds like you’re going to be busy. It’s nice to hear that you are writing to your godson, he will appreciate it. Safe travels.

Lav…had a quick look on FB hoping to see pics of the “new” kitchen but there wasn’t any. Hope things are still going as planned. Just saw today’s post, glad everything’s back in place. Now you wait those few days before putting those knobs back on. Woke up to frozen snow everywhere this morning. It was a cold cloudy day but the snow did melt. I think I’ve finally guilted them into doing something about an income. One son, who headed up north yesterday, said he should be able to send me some money on tomorrow. I’m going to sit on the other son till he files his income tax. He is entitled to all kinds of benefit payments that I don’t qualify for.

Mick…did you get the car back yesterday? Sounds like your weather is close to mine. I think it’s kind of nice that everyone was in the same job situation. When you all talk about things everyone gets it. LOL Feeling ok these days, just a little worn out with the work load. Now that I’ve met my deadlines, I’m concentrating on scheduling some days off. I’ll keep you posted.

Slo…you were a busy little beaver yesterday. Never heard of an “under engine shield” but it sure sounds like a cash grab with your description. That’s a big bite out of your pocketbook. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s boyfriend, I know they can flare up out of nowhere. I hope he’s recovering ok at home. I do feel accomplished, thanks. Things were nice and quiet today, and the boss is off tomorrow. YAY

As always, thoughts to Det, Sam and Pauly. Time to decide “What’s for dinner!” Have a good night all….:smile:PPQP

Re: 9th April

Wow, Lav! I think Houston’s high today was a mere 80 degrees. I envy you, not!

Slo, the Greyhound needs a lump removed which is scheduled for next Tuesday. Then 10-12 days recovery time before she can be placed. Anyone have a suspicion how this will play out?

Mick, I did apply the roof sealant. Will see if it works during next rain. At least I got the hang of applying it, so if I need to add more, it’s okay. Called in an electrician to replace two GFCI outlets. Cost $555. Nearly fell out of my chair!

TG, Tahoe sounds like a mighty fine destination. Let us know how it goes.

PQ, only one more work day left in the week!

Sorry to hear about the Greyhound and my money's on he'll be staying at your place for awhile longer. LOL Don't remember reading about the electrical outlets but geeze $555!!! Yup, one more day left without the boss it's a DF (Doug Free) Day! Have a good night.

You know, Tahoe does sound like a great destination for TG! I loved it out there when I once had the opportunity to go there.

I guess you’ll need an another estimate for those electrical outlets, Pie. That sounds very high.
The greyhound is all yours for at least a few more weeks then…

Great job on getting all the deadlines met, PQ! And tomorrow you can relax more on a DF day. Now if only Bridge was included. Good to hear that you’re putting the squeeze on your sons to pony up! There’s three adults living there after all.

I don’t think anyone is going to see Lav’s newly painted kitchen cabinets on Facebook until the hardware is put back on.
It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing, Lav; as even 20-minute or 30-minute walks can be beneficial.
I’ll bet the Harry Potter exhibit in London was an excellent tourist destination for your daughter & her family. I enjoyed watching snippets of it on the YouTube video that Mick posted.

Well, the moving van came and moved my mother’s stuff to her new apartment. I drove with her the hour-and-a-half there & then back. Got to meet up with my little sister & BIL and 5y/o nephew on the other side. The only thing is the moving guys (that I recommended) managed to break her beloved “credenza” piece of furniture. I wish they would have used more padding, as it was made of a lot of glass, and the back wall of it was a mirror that broke.

Then I was able to get a bike ride in right when I got home, since it was still warm & light outside! And then got in from that just in time to watch my new favorite show on TV; “So Help Me Todd”! And my day is done.

Hope all is well with Mick.

Sweet dreams all -
