Re: 16th April
I had a good-enough weekend. Young daughter came over and snuggled her cat, which Boyd desperately needed. We watched a movie together. Before that we went to a garden center and looked around, and had a food truck lunch. Today I went to the Lego convention where her boyfriend is showing his Lego creations. Interesting what a big hobby that is now! He had 5 creations there; a couple were especially creative (like a Banksy reproduction). Many of the others had huge set-ups; probably the size of Mick?s train set-up.
She is the driver, as her boyfriend is still recovering from surgery. They are staying with ex-HB. My daffodils that I planted so long ago look beautiful outside of that house now! Ex-HB?s girlfriend seems to be there most of the time now.
Oh, I hope you can still go to Scotland, Mick!Isn?t there another sibling or family member of Julie?s who could care for him then?
I got my car vacuumed out today, and the interior washed & wiped.
It?s cold & rainy here today. Nothing like yesterday.
I got nothin? for ya as far as the vegetables go, Pie.
That is a great idea of England to halt sales of rabbits at Easter time!
Tomorrow I?m out the door early to babysit Huxley.Last edited by Slo; April 16, 2023, 05:03 PM.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 16th April
Good evening friends,
The fog finally cleared out after lunch & it’s been a nice day since. Kept busy all day doing nothing special.
Pie, glad you liked the chard, that’s the Italian way of cooking greens, works every time
Maybe you could consider a pot pie to use up more veggies.
Mick, I hope Julie’s dad is stable enough so that you two can get away to Scotland. I know it’s hard planning around the elders, we did that too.
The Amish consume, can or sell every veggie they grow. The bigger farms sell all their produce at the weekly auction up outside of town. YB drives them up there weekly, hauling whatever they’ve grown. The all have huge families so they consume a lot of food, haha!
Slo, glad you had a good visit with your daughter. Yep, the Lego thing is pretty big. Years ago I embroidered a ton of T shirts for a local elementary school’s Lego team. People are very creative with those little blocks, pretty cool. I’ve gotten very little walking done this weekend but my feet are happy, haha! Have fun with Huxley tomorrow.
PQ, how are you doing? Living a peaceful weekend I hope!
Cyn, hope you are doing well.
I can hear the toads singing outside, must be spring.
Have a nice night all.

Re: 16th April
Doing a quick Check-in on my phone - I?ve spent so much time on the computer with this class, I can?t bear the thought of opening it up again after dinner!!
Glad to read what everyone?s up to? today on Lake Tahoe the wind was ?blowing? a hooley? as our friend Mick says?
My standard poodle friend is adorable, very sweet, so these ?sitting? days are pretty easy.
I hope all are well? all this talk of Chard makes me hungry for some - I?ll go back and check Lav?s recipe.
Wishing all well - (hoping you can go to Scotland, Mick.
May we be well -

Re: 16th April
MAE ALL…my turn to lose a post from yesterday.
Pi…hope you had a good walk with the dogs yesterday.
Mick…have you got the kindle all figured out? Sorry things are dodgy with Julie’s Dad, I’m sure you were looking forward to Scotland. You’re right though, such is life. I sure wouldn’t mind the rain, we’re getting more snow on Wednesday. The winter that never ends.
Slo…food truck lunches can be pretty good. We have them here at the community centre when we do Open Stage once a month. Hope you had a good day with Huxley.
Lav…we’ve had a lot of fog around here lately too. I did have a peaceful weekend, thanks. Don’t know what happened to my post yesterday, it’s up there with Micks somewhere.
TG…you must still be dog sitting. When do you head to the coast? I’m going to check out Lav’s chard recipe too.
Not much to report. Steady day at work so it went by fast. Have a good night all….:smile:PPQP

Re: 16th April
Hey kids,
Apparently we had a huge downpour after I went to bed last night, never heard it. Felt real humid again this morning but it’s better now.
Cyn, glad your pup is easy to watch!
I do any greens like the Italians do with garlic, olive oil, quick saut?. Garlicky Swiss Chard Recipe - NYT Cooking
I hope you’re enjoying your change of scenery
Mick, glad to hear Julie’s Dad is improving somewhat. I hope your trip can go as planned. The red pepper flakes hide the bitterness of fresh greens, I promise.
PQ, someday we’ll find all those missing posts, haha! Maybe we can put them in a book or something.
Slo, hope your Huxley day was good.
Have a nice night all. I’m off to see the eye doctor tomorrow. I really need a new Rx, can’t see to read anymore, ugh.

Re: 16th April
Mick, your mention of rabbits liking kale reminded me that my sister in law has an iguana that eats copious quantities of greens! I brought the kale, collards, and lettuce to her today. Voila! No waste.
PQ - Here, summer never ends. I sympathize.
7am drop off time at vet tomorrow for Greyhound mass removal. This pup does not belong to me, but will be anxiously awaiting call that she’s awake and okay
Lav, wondering if you’re reluctant to cook in your newly painted kitchen?

Re: 16th April
It was a fine day with baby Huxley. I start out so tired though from having to drive there so early. I dozed during his morning nap, and that helped. I babysit him for three days in a row this coming weekend!
Lav, I pushed a walk to 24 minutes tonight and, like your feet, my knee now feels it. Even that is too much for this replacement knee.
Great solution for the leafy greens, Pie!
I wonder what kind of glasses you will get, Lav. Like bifocals?

Re: 16th April
Mae all,
I'm posting BEFORE I get going on my classwork... a better idea. Well, we had gale force winds yesterday afternoon and all night long... howling! Then early this morning, in came a snowstorm... at least it was quiet! and really quite beautiful. Now the sun is shining, and the house's wind chimes are swinging in the breeze, making a racket. I decided yesterday that if I found a ladder, I would get out there and take them down... 6 hours of "chiming" was enough! But fortunately I did not see a ladder, so these folks will come back to their intact wind-chimes, and I will not suffer a broken leg from trying to take them down. All good.
Lav, thx for the shorthand chard recipe! When will the cabinet fronts arrive?
SLO - of course you are tired! All your running around to help everyone... I'm glad to hear that you could snooze when baby was snoozing...
Pi - sending best wishes for the hound with the mass... that is always scary - I hope the tests come back non-malignant...
PPQ - I'll be right up when your Food Trucks arrive - love them! There is a great movie about a chef that quits his job, takes his son and goes on the road. The Dad and son bond, and all ends right-side-up... "Chef" 2014, Jon Favreau directed... highly recommended...
Mick, sending best wishes for Julie's dad... this is a tough time for a family... sending energy...
May we be well,
TG

Re: 16th April
Good evening friends,
Sunny, windy & coolish today but we will be hot by Thursday & Friday in the 80’s, weird.
So the eye doc says I have cataracts growing now, in addition to the scarred cornea. My new Rx will be a lot stronger than my current Rx which is good cause I can’t see much haha!
Mick, hope you got your new ISP today
Cyn, I can’t believe you got snow! Wow, the weather is so crazy across the country. We have wind chimes out on our deck too & sometimes they drive us crazy, haha. I like to think they may be bothering certain neighbors, just a little. The kitchen is all done, I’ll send you a pic.
Slo, being tired seems to go along with the aging thing, ugh. Not sleeping well just makes it worse. Glad you’re enjoying your Huxley time. I’ve worn progressive lenses since my early 40’s, supposedly I needed them then & didn’t even know it haha.
I’m thinking if we walk to the point of causing pain then we should just cut back & the hell with what they say. I’ll try to get a couple days of 1 hr walks in per week but the rest of the time 30 min will have to be enough.
Pi, I hope your doggie friend did OK today. I hate to see animals suffering. Hope you’re not dealing with too much heat again.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 16th April
MAE ALL...glad today is over, it was a busy one and boss has all kinds of ideas for the summer that I'm trying to ignore. LOL
Mick...here's hoping sky broadband is the answer. Two of our major suppliers in Canada have merged, Rogers & Shaw. I'm a little nervous about prices going up.
TG...gale force winds here yesterday but the snow isn't supposed to arrive till tomorrow. Crazy weather. I'm kind of glad you didn't find a ladder. LOL I've always driven a Ford and the F150's are really popular. I'll keep an eye out for that movie, it does sound a little familiar.
Lav...our weather will be the opposite for Thursday and Friday but the weekend is supposed to be nice. We shall see. I've got cataracts in both eyes now. I really need to get in a get a surgery date, they're booking 6 months out. So you're going to have to send all of us a pic of the kitchen. We're dying to see the end result.
Pi...hope you didn't have any issues getting the greyhound in.
Slo...hope you're getting some rest.
Time to deal with dinner. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

Re: 16th April
Well, that’s the problem: I keep waking up around 4 am, so not getting enough sleep.
The snow melted, and today is a sunny day!
I got all of my house cleaning for the week done today! I just had to divide it into three sections with long breaks in between. It feels good to get it all done in one day.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.
