Re: 23rd April
MAE ALL...
Site wouldn't let me post my update so had to create a new post to continue on. Apparently you have only 10 minutes to edit a post. Good to know.
Pi...ok, 1 aisle seat, I'll book the one across from you. We should investigate where we'll all stay. Thanks for clarifying margins. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to make a cabbage pie yet.
Slo...sons were a little surprised as I had told them I'm not planning on cooking Fri, they'd be on their own. LOL I agree, I'm not going to stress over booking and then having to unbook. I'd rather just say no. Glad you're having a good time with Huxley, lots of hand washing, keep those germs at bay. Nice you were able to make the outing. Hope you hear from the pain specialist soon.
Lav...did the rain continue to be a soaker? Here comes the mud again. I do think it's a little rude that your regular embroidery customer expected you to drop everything and whip up two pillow for her. You were so kind to accommodate her and it was nice she reciprocated with the gift.
TG...ya, thinking about it I don't think the name April helps. LOL At least it takes some pressure off as the garden members aren't bombarding me with questions and requests. How lucky to have that cherished friend to help with your coursework. Interesting story, sure makes you think about your own life. I've experienced those peach coloured peaks, they're beautiful to see. I think you'll accomplish your goal of leaving there lighter.
It will be a quiet Sunday just doing the usual chores before the work week starts and there's no snow in the forecast! Have a nice day all....:smile:PPQP

Re: 23rd April
What is drawing you to Scotland over other places, PQ?
Yeah, I have learned about the 10-minutes-only-to-edit rule that was implemented on here too.
And I am now trying not to use apostrophes, since they turn into question marks.
That is sweet that the lady gifted you a homemade item too, Lav! And it was nice of you to whip up a pillow ASAP.
I wonder how rocky things are with Mick?s FIL. I hope whatever happens is for the best.
You know some really high-caliber people, TG! She was perfect to interview, and the questions enabled a heart-to-heart and ability to get to know her even better.
I am glad you have a retreat space within which to grieve.
The knee is just the same. Other knee is quite fine. The brace never did much for it anyways. I can try it again though.
Daughter went to Mexico quite sick with a bad cold -her 6th in a row. She lost her voice there. Then got food poisoning right off the bat. Now their flight is delayed, so I will be babysitting Huxley an extra day.
I tried to trust my sister to babysit my cat, even though I should know better after decades of dealing with her lack of common sense. Once again she displayed a lack of common sense, and I cannot trust her in my place nor hire her as my pet-sitter. I keep hoping against hope. Like, hoping that her latest stint of sobriety means that things have changed. But they have not. So disappointing.
We are cold, cloudy windy, & rainy here this weekend.Last edited by Slo; April 23, 2023, 11:03 AM.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 23rd April
Good evening friends,
Despite all the dire weather warnings yesterday we only ended up with a 1/2” of rain, no big storm developed. Mud not too bad today haha!
PQ, that particular embroidery customer is nearly my age & she’s dealing with ‘chemo brain’ after a harsh bout of breast cancer. So giving her a little extra leeway is OK. They are actually from a neighboring town back where we used to live & are just out here in cow country for a few years now. Keep those pesky customers/renters in line & have a fabulous week ahead
Cyn, I’m glad you’re making the most of your trip. Your interviewee sounds like a fascinating person. Glad you found her for your project.
How much longer will you be in Tahoe? I would still like to visit there but it’s not likely to happen in this lifetime. I have a fair amount of Scotland in my DNA so I should join the rest of you on that trip!!!
Slo, sorry to hear about your daughter getting sick on her trip. That must be awful, ugh. I hope your knee is holding up as well as possible & Huxley is feeling better.
Your sister must be dealing with some sort of chronic depression, don’t you think? If only she would go to the right person for treatment, sad for her. Hang in there!
Pie, now you have me wanting to watch youtube videos haha!!!
I saw Mick’s post on Facebook this morning stating he had to cancel the first few stops he planned for his trip. The campgrounds won’t issue any refunds, that’s a real drag. These are the things in life that we cannot control unfortunately. Thinking of Mick & Julie
Have a decent night everyone!

Re: 23rd April
Mick, could it be that the hospitalization is actually a perfect time for you and Julie to get away? If 24/7 care is being provided by medical professionals, what’s the worry? Once he’s released, is when you’re likely most needed nearby. For now, is this a window of opportunity?

Re: 23rd April
hiya all, how are we doing today?hope all is well.Julie has just come back from the hospital, her dad is on a drip, which basically I think is to get fluid into him.Julie says he has a lot more colour in him ,and he managed to walk a bit today, which is a far cry from the other day ..I had to almost carry him to the car .He hasnt seen any specialists yet ,that happens on Monday ,but they have done tons of tests on him.for flu, covid and millions of other tests.Strange as well ,he has been clean since he went in ..no involuntary bowel movement etc .
I felt absolutely sh.t yesterday ,between all this and my brother my head is all over the place .today is a different day .
We have cancelled the first stage of our holiday ,we may have to cancel it all ,but so be it .
thank you for your thoughts and concerns
hiya Slo ,hows you doing? sounds like you have a fair wee bit to deal with.I honestly think the recommendation for Julies dad will be to put him in a home where there is full time care .my opinion only ,
hiya ppqp ...thank for your thoughts ,they are appreciated.I watched that telly prog the other night ...Race across the world ..they were in Calgary at the Stampede ,went through Medicine Hat ,and then onto Montana ..so many memories so long ago!!!!!Still no snow?hope you have a nice day .
hiya Lav ,thank you hope all is well with you ?Her dad is on a proper dementia ward ...those nurses have the patience of saints .af since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: 23rd April
Good evening friends,
Sunny but much cooler this week & that’s OK. Hitting the 80’s last week was way too soon for me.
Mick, sounds like your father-in-law is in the right place. I’m glad he’s getting a proper assessment & hopefully they will help you with his future placement. These poor old souls just can’t safely be left on their own. Funny how they tend to perk up when conditions are just right for them. So what are your plans for this week at home? Any projects you can jump into? We have a freeze warning up for tonight so I need to go cover some new plants of course.
Hello to PQ, Pie Cyn & Slo. Hope everyone is OK today.
May check back later.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 23rd April
MAE All…
Pi…thanks for stepping up on the accommodations, of course that includes Mick and Julie. Thanks for the travel link, I only watched a bit of it for now so will get into it all later. So far I’m loving what I’m seeing.
Lav…well, now that I know the back story of your embroidery customer, I take back my rudeness remark and yes extra leeway is more than OK. I always remember you talking about people showing up Xmas eve needing a present. Turns out the group the boss decided to let rent last minute on Friday were renters from h*ll. LOL Kids ran out of control everywhere including downstairs in our out of school program. They even helped themselves to the staff snacks in the kitchen. Much of our pop and water in fridge went missing. Bit my tongue before saying so was it worth it?
Mick…it does sound like Julie’s Dad is where he needs to be right now and I’m sure it was a relief to see his improved colour. Those test results will help determine next steps. I’m sorry I don’t remember reading about your brother, hope everything is ok with him. No wonder you felt the way you did. Isn’t it great to watch a program and see all the places you’ve been. I bet it brought up a lot of memories. Still no snow and we’re actually going to hit 20C this week. I’m not convinced winter is over yet though, not until May 24th.
Slo…I have always wanted to go to Scotland and walk the moors. I have Scottish heritage; my maiden name is Stuart. My Mom got me interested in reading by giving me “name?” books. Stories about young girls moving into castles to look after the children of a widowed owner. The descriptions of the moors always made me want to experience it for myself. Then she gave me Agatha Christie and my murder mystery addiction started. LOL Sorry to hear about your daughter and oh no, the dreaded food poisoning. And of course, their flight would be delayed. Hope she’s doing better now.
I’m on cooking dinner strike tonight, I had a good lunch. LOL Hope you all have a good evening….:smile:PPQP

Re: 23rd April
Good evening to the crew,
I am of some Scottish descent as well, so count me in on the group trip when PQ wins the lottery!
I came home to feed my cat and shower, then went back to help with Huxley so sick daughter could sleep, since they had to travel all night. He was such a good and delightful little boy for me the whole time! And I got so many snuggles & hugs! He turned 10 months old today. My heart is full.
They went to Mexico City for daughter?s best friend?s (she lives there) 10-year cancer-versary party: 10 years cancer-free. This best friend since preschool is always there for her friends? special events (weddings etc.), so they wanted to be sure to be there to support her too.
I agree with your opinion on your FIL, Mick. Since he?s in a dementia ward now, they will likely see the need for such care to continue.
The blossoms are out on the trees now, and the daffodils are in bloom!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 23rd April
Hello everyone and how are we today then? hope everyone is doing well. You couldn't actually write this, but I was going down to see my brother today, but I am absolutely fool of the cold sore throat sneezing coughing all the rest of the junk that goes with it, where I got it from I don't know but it has smacked me pretty hard so much so I even did a covid test! So obviously I didn't go down and see him today. Apart from that things are good, went out and washed my car this morning, I don't know how long this new routine is going to last haha but it looks good while it does we'll start it is really sunny over here today, and both rabbits are out and about giving the grass a haircut. Again a pity because while we were away I was going to reseed the lawn and it would give it about 17 or 18 days to regrow I had already bought a kilogram of that fast germinating grass I am getting a new phone tomorrow, I have managed to strike a pretty good deal. I am getting a Samsung Galaxy a54. It has a brilliant camera on it 50 megapixel, you can see a fair bit of detail with that who stop Julie has already got one, and I compare my phone to hers yesterday the picture difference is unbelievable.
Hiya lav how are you doing today then? Hope all is well over that side of the pond? We had to cancel another site this morning, but this one have given us a credit note for later on in the year. Yes you are right, as we get older and Systems fail and parts where, we've become more dependent on others. What I will say though is part of the recovery of Julie's dad is the fact that the reason he had diarrhea etc was because of the medication they had given him, which seems to be was given unnecessary the consultant and the hospital actually questioned the value of what he was given. At the moment he is on protein drinks a drip fluid drip but it is more than just the medical side it is a social side as well full stop the last thing we want is for him to get better and go back to a scenario that he developed previously for himself. So whether they suggest putting him in a home or indeed upping the amount of visitors he gets daily is one that will need to be discussed. The cost between the two of them is negligible. I don't think we are going to be getting away for any part of this holiday, not to worry other things are more important for stop hope you have a great day
Hiya ppqp how are you doing today then question mark or Paul as well many moons ago we traced our family ancestry and my tartan is the Stuart tartan! Apparently I have the choice of two which is the Hunting Stewart or McDonald's of Sleet yes it was nice seeing all those places again, don't to be fair a long long time has passed since I was in the sinbin!. How are things that work? Hope all is going okay. Take care have a great day
Hiya Slo, how are things with you today then? How was your daughter doing? is she any better? Are you babysitting again today? Loads more hugs! Take care have a great day
Hiya pie, and TG how are you both today? Hope all is well in your respective Worlds full stop that's it for today then folks hope we all have a great day take care look after yourselvesaf since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: 23rd April
Julie's dad has just got the test results back for covid. He is positive. They reckon that is what has caused a lot of his illness full stop beating in mind that I was the one that carried him from the door to my car and I'm now feeling rough I thought I would test myself guess what
