    Re: 23rd April

    Good evening friends,

Hey Mick, that sure is a positive looking test to me, ugh. Sorry you have to deal with Covid too. We recovered pretty quickly from our bouts back in February, hope you do as well.
I had a Covid booster back in September along with my flu shot, YB didn’t so he was a bit sicker. If your father-in-law was taking long term laxatives that could mess anyone up, throw their electrolytes out of balance. Someone needs to review medications regularly for the elderly to avoid issues like he had. I hope he’s feeling better now & gets over Covid quickly too.
Your trip will have to be rescheduled I guess, nice you got a voucher for one of the stops.

PQ, the renters from h*ll, Lol. I hope the boss man has learned a good lesson from this.
I have so much ‘people’ experience’ I can immediately tell if someone is just being rude or stupid or if they truly need a break. In other words, I know who to blow off without a care, haha!
Enjoy your nice weather, glad you’re finally getting some relief. Scattered showers here tomorrow & Friday, no big deal.

Slo, it’s so nice to spend time with the little ones when they are pleasant & happy. When they hit the ‘terrible twos’ then things get a little more difficult. Enjoy them while they’re young
I hope your daughter feels better real soon.

    Pie, good to see you!

Cyn, thinking of you & hope all is well.

    Have a nice night all!

      MAE ALL...

Slo...yay, glad you're coming...haven't checked last weeks ticket yet but I'll be sure to let everyone know when they have to start planning time away. LOL 10 months is a great age and contrary to what Lav said I had a great time with my nieces 2 year old twins. Spoiled them rotten. LOL Daffodils!, I can hardly wait.

Mick...guess you don't have to wonder where you got a cold 'cause apparently your FIL gave you Covid. Mystery solved. Hope you recover quickly and don't suffer too much. I think it's cute that you continue to go and wash the car, we'll see how long that routine lasts. A new phone, something to occupy yourself with all the setting up. It'll be nice though, especially with the new camera. I think I remember us posting about the Stuart tartans before. Still don't know which is mine. Work is going ok but I wasn't able to do anything I'd planned on today as i was helping the accountant and childcare. Tomorrow I'm being selfish and doing my own work. LOL

Lav...the sega continues with the renters. We found out that the unruly kids went downstairs to the out of school program and began playing with everything down there. OMG Didn't last too long once the childcare director found them. LOL Opened the fridge at work today and found all kinds of notices: Staff supplies DO NOT TOUCH, Bar supplies DO NOT TOUCH, Church supplies DO NOT TOUCH, etc. I just thought this is the consequences of not thinking about what you're agreeing to. Maybe he's learned his lesson??

      Pi...:rotlf:

TG...I hope you're getting lots of Zen time.

My city liaison for the community cleanup announced she'd be away from May 2 - 22. We need to have all advertising pre-approved before publishing. So as I told Mick I'm going to be selfish tomorrow and get my ad done because I've booked tomorrow afternoon off. YAY Going to enjoy some of this nice weather as Lav suggested. Have a nice night all...:smile:PPQP

        Re: 23rd April

        Greetings,

Mick, what bad news that helping out with FIL gave you Covid! Well, it explains a lot about why your FIL is so poorly anyways. And now you too though!

I had an iPhone 6S, which I liked just fine -except for the camera! Even the iPhone 7 & 8 had much better cameras. I now have an iPhone 12 that replaced my 6S; specifically for the superior camera.

My mother’s maiden name is McKee, but that morphed from McKay; which is Scottish.

Today I got to play a foursome of cards with some neighbor ladies! That was fun -and nice that it was on a weekday morning, so no wine or anything like that was served! I appreciate getting to do something social with no alcohol involved. Although on the way home a lady said, “We’ll have to get together to talk, and get some wine.” I wish, but no.

It sounds like you really do need to prioritize your own work task tomorrow, PQ.
Those unruly kids thought they got to have the run of the whole building! They didn’t get that just one room was rented out. Or didn’t care.

I hope I can sleep past 4 am tonight.

mae all...how are we doing on the little Scotland thread ? hope all is well.didnt get a lot of sleep last night ,was coughing all night managed to nod off about 3 this morning so pretty tired .

hiya Lav ...you are spot on about the meds ...Julie just got word that the doc is going to give her dad a course of injections when he comes out of hospital...She is going to see the consultant this aft when she is at the hospital, because some of the meds contradict each other .plus the medsthat gave him the runs werent necessary !Im hoping to recover pretty quick ,its this cough etc thats bugging me .the rules are completely changed now for covid ..try and stay away if you can from shops etc for 5 days ..if you cant then mask up ..bit different from the initial draconian measures ..Im staying out of shops anyway ..no spending money ....every cloud has a silver lining ...

hiya slo hope all is well with you ..look at this ...can you tell Im bored?https://forebears.io/surnames/mckee well done on the card school.as for the wine ...you can still talk and play cards ...no need for the falling down juice .hope you have a good day.

hiya ppqp..hope all is well with you ..yep get the rowdy critturs sorted out .Julie tested neg again this morning .....grrrr.hope all goes ok for you at work .

hiya pie and teegee hope you are both ok

            MAE ALL....

So much for enjoying the warm weather this afternoon. It's cools with a bite to the wind, overcast and only 10C. Looks like the wet/snowy weather predicted for tonight decided to come early. Oh well, I still enjoyed leaving at noon. Stopped in at some shops, picked up some spring/summer clothes and figured out what I'm making for dinner. Now I have the rest of the afternoon to do nothing. LOL

Slo...nice that you got to play a foursome of cards yesterday. Made me think of bridge. I'm working on booking the rest of my days off and now I'm going to plan on organizing some bridge games on those days. Thanks for the reminder. Picking your times to be social sure helps to not worry about alcohol. I'm sure you had just as much fun without the wine. I think the unruly renters were the latter, they didn't care. Well refunded their damage deposit less the snacks/water so they'll care now. LOL

Mick...what a bummer of a night you had, hope tonight is better and that you're having a lazy day today. You can google that if you've forgotten what it means. What a mix up with your FIL's medication. At least it'll get sorted out now. May I ask how old he is? Yes, the rules around Covid certainly have changed. I hear there's a new variant out that makes your eyes red and watery. Just what we need. Things have been good at work lately, knock wood. Did have a meeting with boss/accountant this morning and she went way off track. I finally said, I think that's a discussion for another time, let's stay focused here. Didn't want to be late leaving this morning. LOL

Shout out to the rest of the little Scotland group. Will check back later to see how your days were....:smile:PPQP

              Re: 23rd April

              Greetings friends,

My kitten went in for neutering this morning & now I’m just laughing at how loopy he is. He’s using a paw to stir the water in the bowl & there’s water all over the floor. Now he’s laying in an egg carton like he did when he was little, haha. He’s not supposed to be jumping on counter or anything but I can’t stop him. Just glad it’s done
              We’ve had sunny periods & a thunderstorm a little while ago & it’s only 53 degrees.

PQ, I really hope that’s the last you see of those renters. I can’t put up with that behavior. I was a Girl Scout co-leader & we kept 17 girls out of trouble when we went somewhere or camping, geez.
Surely the boss has learned a lesson. Sorry your weather. Turned on you, not fair. Glad you enjoyed your half day

Slo, I love the pics taken with my iPhone 12 too, very easy & no skill involved, haha. If & when the ladies bring out the wine at your card games just use my excuse - “alcohol doesn’t mix well with my current meds”. No one has ever questioned my response, it works every time. Hope your sleep improves, it’s so hard after a certain age.

Mick, hope you’re feeling a bit better tonight.
It’s not news but many older adults are simply over-medicated especially when they have several different doctors ordering for them. The best thing is to use the Rule of 5 - no more than 5 meds for any one person at a time. It’s no wonder the older folks end up having so many issues. Find yourself a nice jigsaw puzzle to keep yo occupied until you feel better.

Hello to Pie & Cyn, hope you are both well.
              Have a nice night all!

                Re: 23rd April

Oh, that?s cute that your kitten is so loopy post-op, Lav!

I met with my financial advisors this afternoon, one of whom is my BIL; and then went to my nephew?s soccer game this evening with my sister, since I was over their way! It is cold here too: I bundled up in a Winter coat & hat, gloves, and a blanket on my lap.

There was no alcohol at the card game. There seems to be a strong contingent of devout Christians in this neighborhood, so maybe that is why drinking doesn?t seem to be overemphasized here. The one lady had wanted to go out just the two of us sometime to kibitz over a bottle of wine. That ship has sailed for me.

Alcohol does not mix with my current meds is a good line, Lav. Amazing how we can’t just be honest, as there’s still too much of a stigma around alcohol addiction.

I was out shopping today too, PQ! Shopped Marshall?s, and then scooped up too much at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for their going-out-of-business sale.

So Julie has avoided Covid so far?! She?s not the one who carried her dad, after all!

4:48 am seems to be my new wake-up time. So be it, I guess! Sweet dreams.

That’s a shame about the Covid, Mick. Taking it easy might be especially difficult for an active person like you. Glad that most of your vacation sites are offering credits for future dates.

How’s your loopy cat, Lav? You’re right that over medication is a real issue. I remember having to create spreadsheets for both parents to keep track. Infuriating!

Good for you Slo, anticipating that wine might be offered. Being prepared is much better than being surprised.

Hi PQ and TG! I’ve hired a house cleaning company and am waiting for their first visit today. My challenge will be keeping 4 dogs out of their way. I have a plan; we’ll see if it works. I’d like to have them come monthly if all goes well.

Mae all - sorry to be away? long travel days, and intense situation here as I finally made it from the Sierras to Napa,CA (9 hours on trains and a bus?).

My step-daughter is in Napa, and will be moving next week, so I am here through Monday helping her pack up her apartment.
(The 5th time helping her - this girl likes to move!) But this time it is for a new job in another CA city.

Her 10-yr-old miniature poodle is in failing health, so we?re talking about how to handle that? always such a heart-breaking situation?

Just plugging away here, so pls excuse me if I just drop in briefly during this next week? I am doing fine, but I will be very glad to get ?home? to my little apartment late late Monday night.

Mick, so sorry about the Covid? it is definitely still out there. I hope all else are well - take care all,
                      TG

                        Re: 23rd April

MAE ALL...it was an insanely busy day today. Made changes to the facility staff's laptop per bosses request. For every one change 2 more issues popped up. Just before quitting he said he'd given it more thought and that maybe we shouldn't. Grrr. Changed everything back before I left. I am glad for the decision just wish he would have made it sooner. So I'm late getting home and starting dinner. Will post in more detail tomorrow but just wanted to check in.

                        Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

                          Re: 23rd April

                          Greetings friends,

Well the loopy cat is now completely conked out on his once/day pain med but i’m OK with that Lol
He wakes up to eat & use the litter box, wanders the house a little then goes back to sleep - good patient!!!! I also took the dog to the Vet today for her yearly checkup, shots & weigh-in. She’s been stealing cat food for some time now & it’s shows on the scale haha!!guess I better start long walking her again. Several days of rain are on the way so I guess I will catch upon crafty stuff.

Slo, it took me a while to get comfortable with my automatic response when offered alcohol but it’s always worked. Now I just hear myself saying it without any forethought. Good tool to have!
There’s a Bed Bath & Beyond in Delaware I go to once in a while, I should stop in & enjoy the tax free shopping

Mick, it’s going to take a week or more until you get a negative test so hang in there. I’m not sure if my sense of smell/taste is totally back yet, takes time. Glad the other camp sites are being cooperative because you’ll surely get there sooner or later. We have smaller projects in the works like getting a railing installed on the steps at the driveway side door. Too many people have complained over the years about no railing being there & there really should be one for safety’s sake. We also have to get the carpet installer back to stretch the carpets in two bedrooms, it’s bubbled up somehow & we’re constantly tripping over the bumps. So exciting, haha!!

Pie, can you pile the 4 dogs in your car & take a drive while the cleaner is there? I think I would do that, Lol. Good luck!

Cyn, goodness you are on the move! I hope your step daughter’s move & new job goes well. You are wonderful to help her out like that. Take care of yourself, please.

PQ, I’d say the boss is getting close to a smack upside the head haha!!! He needs to make up his mind & not speak until he does, geez.
Tomorrow is Friday so I hope it goes well & you have an easy weekend.

Better run out & put the chickens to bed. Have a nice night all!

                              Good morning all and sundry,

Wish I could sleep 8 hours through the nigh, but I’ll take 7! It beats the 6 hours of late.

Luckily I didn’t lose my sense of taste & smell when I had Covid.
Can you stream a movie or show of your choice, Mick? Daytime TV is pretty awful.
I agree that they should leave FIL right where he is, given the Covid.

TG, you’re not driving your car to California? Good thing you’re an expert on packing & sorting, since Stepdaughter seems to require your services a lot! This is a legit move though.

How did it go with keeping the 4 dogs out of the way of the cleaners yesterday, Pie? Did your plan work?

Let me try to explain it again. No, I wasn’t anticipating wine being served at 10 am. It’s just that if someone wants to “deepen” a friendship with a new acquaintance, then they want to do it over wine.

PQ, annoying that you spent all day on an unnecessary project at work! Ideally the boss would think it through all the way first.
I had chicken & rice & roasted asparagus for dinner last night.

It warmed up enough yesterday afternoon that I could take a bike ride! That was the warm high for the week though.

Those are worthy home projects, Lav. Too bad Mick doesn’t live nearby so he could tackle them!
Hurry if you are going to Bed, Bath, & Beyond; because they are closing doors permanently. And all sales are final: now I’m stuck with these too-expensive of sheets that I don’t quite like the color of in my room.

Today is Young Daughter’s 20th birthday! Tomorrow I travel to go see her at college.

I’m beyond delighted at the cleaning Molly Maids did here yesterday. A team of two worked nonstop from 1-4. Condo is sparkling from top to bottom, they even cleaned and organized inside refrigerator! The small dogs stayed inside in their crates; big dog outside on the patio with me. Will be having them back, for sure.

Big dog stitches removed this morning, and I’ve been advised that she has an interested adopter. At some point, the group will let me know the plan to bring them together.
