    30 April

Top o the morning to you!

I traveled to Daughter?s college town (3 hours away) yesterday for her swim banquet, and enjoyed seeing my darling girl. I was with ex-HB too, which pulled & tugged at me and my heart, but I have to get over that. My sister talked to me on the phone during my drive home to help me put all that in perspective. It was good to see him again too, as I miss him, after having spent so much of my life with him.

On Friday evening I got invited to sub in to play Hand & Foot card game with a church group that needed 16 people in order to play. It was fun! And -bonus- since they are a church group, who apparently eschew alcohol; there was not a drop of booze in sight! Yes, I can gather with people who are drinking, but it was refreshing not to have to!

Mick, it is so frustrating when sick to not be able to sleep, but also too sick to be able to enjoy reading or anything else.
Glad you & your new phone are getting along swell.
That?s interesting that my mother?s surnames, McKee from McKay, are actually Irish? My grandpa Mr. McKee told me it was Scottish, from his Scottish grandfather. He also had quite a bit of Irish in him, but I thought it more from his mother?s side (Broderick was her maiden name).

Pie, instead of getting a new mop, then hire a cleaning service! -a much better solution! I have hired Merry Maids each time I?m post-surgical (2015, 2017, 2019), and also this past Fall for a couple months after I broke my leg. I too love how everything gets done at once.

I didn?t realize you were left with a permanent after-effect from your head injury, Lav; but of course, that would be the way. Thankfully you have learned how to work with it / around it.
So Penny is getting the boot?! Good riddance!

Hope you?re having a great weekend, PQ. Tomorrow is Monday Funday.
And TQ is in the thick of it now with Stepdaughter; good luck with all thatt!

how are wee doing today then everyone? hope all is well..pouring down with rain here today.again didn't sleep too well last night ,tested myself this morning ,,thought it was negative .....until Julie saw a really really faint line on it ...grrrr.Again Julie is coming up as negative .Off up to see her dad today.he is still on the same ward ...weekend routine there is no one there.

hiya Slo, cheers for the start up.the name McKee is from gaelic ...and when you think that at one stage in the distant past Scotland and Ireland were joined .Interesting ,Julie thought her family came from Ireland too ,thats what she was told etc ,when she checked with her ancestry ,her family are actually Scots who moved both to Ireland and England .

a big shout to everyone today ...apologies for the short post .

It’s a glorious weather day here! Doesn’t happen often, so really should get outside to enjoy. Likely will start with dog walking, and see if some inspiration kicks in.

        Good evening all,

We’re now closing in on 4” of rain from this long storm. I hope we’re all caught up & up to average amounts when it’s all said & done. I don’t like hearing about possible droughts in this part of the country.
Despite the rain we met with daughter & her family for dinner. My granddaughter is now nearly as tall as I am & already taller than her mother, haha! It was nice hearing about their European adventure.
Got my new kitchen window treatment done, looks nice

Slo, glad you got to see your daughter at her banquet. Seeing your ex must be hard but as long as you’re sharing a family it’s going to keep happening, right? I don’t know but I imagine it will get easier as time moves on, at least I hope it does. Spending time with the church crew sounds good.

Mick, give it a few more days & you’ll test negative. Hopefully you can catch up on sleep too Glad Julie is able to see her Dad.
My younger brother is very interested in all the genealogy stuff on Ancestry & told me today that he’s gotten a message from a lady in Scotland that goes by the last name Wylie. That was mt grandfather’s middle name. I can’t concentrate on that stuff so I’ll wait for him to get more info Lol

Pie, good you’re having a nice day - Enjoy!!!!

Hello to PQ & Cyn. Hope you are both well.

        Have a nice night all!

Hello everyone and how are we today then question mark hope everyone is doing well. The temperature over here is pretty decent and also nice and sunny. Yes both rabbits are out giving the grass it's daily haircut! Filling a lot better today, actually did some work without being tired, although I will have to put some work in to get my energy levels back up to what they wear. I plan to go down see my brother this week come on but we'll give it a few days yet. Tested by myself again the morning there is the tiniest and faintest of lines and that's all. My throat certainly doesn't feel as bad as it did, and I am starting to get taste back again very slightly. Julie's dad is doing okay, not a great change however he is no longer in isolation because of covid in the hospital.

Hiya lav how are you doing today then question mark hope all is well with you. One of my big problems is I'm even impatient at being impatient! If you substitute manyana with yesterday that just about sums it up! See I knew that there was Scots in you! No one escapes the Tartan gang we get where water cannot! Early days yet but we are looking at the possibility of planning our holiday I suspect it will probably be about June or something like that we shall see it is bank holiday Monday over here, and we have another bank holiday next weekend because of the Coronation. Hope you have a great day

Hiya pie how are you doing today? Hope all is well with you. What is the latest pup date? Hope you have a great day

Abeka law to everyone else hope your weekend went well and things are bimbling along safely with you take care look after yourselves

            Re: 30 April

Mae all, thx so much for keeping me in your thoughts? I have worked hard with/for my step-daughter these days, and have gotten her (mostly) packed up? she doesn?t move for a week yet. She is very grateful, and we?ve had good talks? we both miss her dad so much, and facing the grief of putting her dog down is a lot for her, with moving and starting a new job? lots of emotions. Thankfully she is moving to a California city that has an airport!!!!! That is a game/changer? it will be so much easier to see each other more often now.

Mick, hope your healing keeps coming along. Sorry to hear that Julie?s dad is still in hospital? crossing fingers you can find the right ?place? for him now.

Lav, grrr, 5 bluebirds? Off to the Amish Batn sounds like a good plan. Glad you like your new kitchen, enjoy.

SLO - lots of complicated emotions? good that you are feeling them and moving on? the church thing sounds great!

PPQ, things sound like they are hopping at work ? how amazing that the woman?s memorial drew so many more folks than anticipated? wonderful.

Pie- glad you have a lovely weather day, and I?m crossing fingers for a good match with your prospective new dog owners.

I am all packed up and ready for a car to pick me up early afternoon - I padded the time to get to the Oakland airport from Napa? no sense worrying? I have books to read at the airport. It?s an evening flight with a transfer in Denver; I get in at 1:20 AM? hopefully an Uner will be close to the airport?
Okay, that?s me.., more after I arrive at home and get some shuteye?

              Happy May 1st everyone!

We celebrated with sunshine after 3 days of rain.
Our grand total for rainfall was >4” this weekend, enough!!! It was windy but no damage but there was a tornado touchdown in Virginia Beach &one in Florida.

Mick, glad you had some decent weather & the rabbits got to enjoy it too. Good to hear you’re feeling better, day by day.
After a few days of being down & out with Covid you really realize how fortunate you are when you’re healthy!!! I always thought my super stubborn streak was from th ePOlish side of the family but now I see it could be a result of the Scots side too haha! No wonder I’m such a mess, Lol

Cyn, wishing you safe travels, I’m sure you’ll be happy to see home after all this time
              Rest up & stay healthy!

Hello to PQ, Slo & Pie. Hope everyone is OK.

              Have a nice night all!

MAE ALL....I've had a lot of trouble getting on the site the past 2 days I think it's my end. Oh well here now.

It was a crazy day today, on the go since 7:30am and I still have to file my income tax, deadline is midnight.

Mick...glad you're feeling better and that the weather improved. Hope you're able to get down to see your brother later this week.

Lav...glad the rain finally stopped for you. We are in full blown fire season with no rain in sight. Did you go with the royal blue for your window treatment?

TG...safe travels, you've had a busy few days. I'm glad you were able to be with your SD, she's going through some tough times right now. Bet you'll be glad to be home.

Pi...so did any inspiration hit after the dog walk yesterday?

Slo...never heard of hand & foot, sounds a lot like Canasta. Glad you were able to see your daughter on Saturday.

Sorry for the short replies but I have to get onto my taxes before I run out of steam. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

                  Re: 30 April

I?ve had trouble getting on this site too, PQ, so I don?t think it?s from your end. Good luck with your midnight deadline. (!)

You were with stepdaughter at just the right time to lend support, TG, on so many levels! It?s such a shame that your husband and her dad had to leave you two abruptly. Thankfully you have each other to understand the pain of your mutual loss with. Oh, that?s good that she?ll more easily accessible now in the new city. Save time and money visiting back & forth.

Covid kept Julie?s dad inpatient longer anyways. You really have to share her with him these days! I hate sore throats; glad yours is easing up some as you gradually leave Covid behind.

We had a rainy cold day. Cold enough to snow some too. No sunshine like Pie has.

Your granddaughter sounds really tall all of a sudden, Lav! Young Daughter shot up a ton right around that age too. I?m curious too what colors you found for your window treatment?

Today was Huxley day. He was quite a sick boy. I hope I don?t catch his crud. On top of the congestion and thick cough, he also got a fourth tooth in yesterday, so teething pain and he seemed warm like he had a little fever too. Poor appetite and lots of sleeping.

                  Good night and sleep tight!

                    Lav
Yes, exactly. We saw each other and spent family time together because I orchestrated it to be that way. Daughter said she couldn?t see me that day other than at the swim banquet, which she had to leave early from for another event. I found out that she was spending the day before the banquet with her dad, and got myself invited along. He was reluctant ?but why should I drive 3 hours one way, so 6 hours total in a day; to see her so briefly?! We can share our young daughter!

I don?t like how things have been going so far: he didn?t like me hanging around at the house with the family after D3?s baby shower last Fall ?but this is my family too!
D1 didn?t think I should go to Young Daughter?s swim meet last late Fall because they were going to be there with her Dad. Um, NO! This is my daughter too, and I am a swim parent of the collegiate swimmer too; and I have every right to be there!!
D1 didn?t want me to stop by her dad?s house / my former home on Easter, just to drop off gifts for her three kids, see the grandkids, and especially their new infant; and hang out in the yard for an hour. And I found that very hurtful. We share this family, and we should be able to tolerate a little time together so that both of us can see the grandkids if they travel down to our area for a visit.

His goal at the time of divorce was to be amicable when we had to see each other at grandchildren?s birthday parties, and that apparently should be the only time we see one another. So like, we were both there for Beckett?s birthday in January, where we celebrated my birthday too. And we can both be there for Mabel?s birthday party in May, where we will celebrate Mother?s Day too. Fine, but I think we can do a little more/better than just that.

So like, he didn?t go to my nephew?s wedding, but I am going to our niece?s wedding on his side.

Yes, it has been hard, like TG said, for me to unwind complicated emotions after 40 years together, but I am getting much better at it each time.

                      Re: 30 April

Hello everyone how are we today then? hope everyone is doing well a dry day over here today 15 degrees quite overcast but warm stop feeling a lot better today, as you can see I am doing this on my phone it's not very good putting in punctuation marks even. Julie's dad seems to be doing a lot better, it's quite strange he is in a side room, that are plenty of people around and yet he still wants to be on his own. He actually told Julie yesterday he was bored and fed up and wanted to go home. Haven't tested myself this morning, but I feel a lot better

Hiya lav how are you doing today then? Have you got over the rainy season yet? Did you know that there is an affiliation between the Scots and the Polish nation that goes back over 500 years? It's started as a trade agreement then obviously with the issues that arose pre-juring and post the Second World War there was a massive influx of Polish people. Quite a few of the Polish squadrons of the Royal Air Force were based in Scotland full stop there has always been a great affinity Between the Two Nations and strangely enough both are very similar in nature! Hope you have a great day

Hiya slo, how are you doing today then question mark hope everything is going well for you. How is Huxley doing today? I hope he's feeling better. Yes the sore throat has eased off, still got a little bit of a cold like cough full stop you take care and have a great day

Hiya teegee and how are you doing today then? Hope everything is going well full stop your step daughter is lucky to have you, you have both been through a lot. Yes I hope we get Julie's dad's sorted out for the better I think Julie feels a lot better now with the fact the decision is now a medical one as to whether he stays at home with extra help are moves into a nursing home she has kept her promise as much as she could to her family. For me she has certainly done over and above. Hope everything goes well with your step daughter and the best of luck to the both of you.
Question mark hopewell as well with you. Yes depending on what my brother's days off this week are I will be going down to see him... despite everything he still carries on working! Hope everything is well with you at home and work full stop has the boss said anything to you? Take care look after yourself have a great day.

Hiya pie how are things with you..hope everything is doing ok

                      Right folks time to go

Lav, I too am wondering what window treatments you went with. PQ, I followed your lead right into Old Navy, and bought 2 new spring T-shirts. Definitely uplifting.

On Sunday I was mulling over the irony of avoiding anything perceived to be too much trouble, yet continuing to drink. Do y’all remember what a PITA it is to keep up with the supply, shop at different stores, conceal the empties…? So when the booze ran out on Sunday, I didn’t go get more. Didn’t get any on Monday either, and not going today. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had an AF day, years maybe. Could be that I’m done, finally.
Wish me luck! And thanks for riding around on my shoulders these past few days. Been carrying you everywhere.

It?s more of a light navy blue than royal blue but it looks good with the hippo gray cabinets

Still cloudy with a few light showers here today, only 50 degrees so it?s chilly. The weather guy just said this is a weather system from Canada PQ - thanks :rotlf:

Mick, I did not know about the Polish presence in Scotland, thanks for filling me in. Glad you?re doing better.

Slo, I?m so glad to hear you are sticking to your guns & not letting your ex or your kids bully you. They?re going to have to just suck it up & get used to the new way haha! Sorry Huxley is sick again. Some kids are terrible with teething, my daughter was. I never even knew when my son got a new tooth until I tried jamming a toothbrush in there. I hope he recovers quickly.

Pie, I absolutely did get sick & tired of all the work to keep the drinking going. Good for you for taking the plunge in the AF pond with the rest of us
You?ll never regret quitting & you will be very proud of your accomplishment, I promise.

MAE ALL...a busy but quieter day. Back to doing time tracking for the month, what a bother but will be interesting to see if the times change for the different tasks.

Slo...I'm with Lav, proud to see you're standing your ground, get used to it everyone. Well, I'm glad I wasn't the only having connecting issues. It's like when everyone says they had a sh*tty nights sleep, I don't feel all alone. LOL

Mick...we're in full blown heatwave right now. Went from winter to summer overnight. Glad you're feeling better keep it going. Julie's Dad sounds like he's stuck in his ways. He's used to be alone. Glad he's doing better and that the pressure is off a little for Julie to make all the decisions. Got the taxes done last night so that was a load off. I'm not sure why you asked if the boss has said anything to me. I'll have to read back and see what I've said. LOL

Pi...it did feel good to put something new on Monday morning. Yup, I do remember that PITA. Funny, I used that word in our Team Meeting yesterday. LOL Yup, you could be done. So glad to hear you didn't get anymore on Monday and hope the same is true for today. Hang in there, it will get easier and you'll stop noticing all the booze ads on tv. Glad you're here.

Lav...thank you so much for sharing the pic of the window treatment. It looks great and the light navy blue colour looks perfect. You're welcome for the cooler weather, I know how you don't like it too hot. LOL

TG...hope you're home safe and sound and taking your time getting back into things. Time for a breather.

Haven't checked out the BBQ to see if it's working order yet so I have the oven on and the A/C to combat the heat. No, I can't say Energy Saver. Hope everyone has a restful night...:smile:PPQP

                              Mae all,

Home at 2 AM this morning! So it's been a bit of a "fuzzy" day today. Did I say that I have been taking a course in being an End of Life Doula? Anyway, I have had a hard time keeping up with the workload... and just now I crammed a bunch of assignments and submissions together for the deadline for this week's work... I missed a lot of the instructions, and some things didn't get done. After a lifetime of being a really good student, this is depressing me! But whatever... my main concern is really learning the material... the tests are getting in the way!

I'm just saying a general hello to all - I hope that Julie's dad continues to do well, Mick (and I just read about the Covid variant "arcturus"... do you think you got that? it seems to be big in England right now.) SLO - I am sending good wishes for all family things to work out in the end... sometimes it takes a while... PPQ, i hope all is well in your world, and that the center is humming along. Pi - that's right, just don't buy any. Sounds like you are ready to be done with the "hamster wheel"... Go for it! Lots of support here... Lav, I hope that your weather is staying out of the hot zone - is the outdoor cat okay after the storms? hope so....

Okay all, sending lots of good wishes to you - off to La La land for me... take care ...
