    14th May

Hello everyone and how are we today then question mark hope everyone is doing okay. The weather over here yesterday was absolutely fantastic, we spent most of the day outside. Bit more overcast today here, and breezy but still lovely we went for a walk earlier on come on some absolutely gorgeous places around here. Also past a field full of Jersey cows and a couple of Highland cattle. The Jersey cows Luke really nice with those big eyes. Julie has just left to go up to the hospital to see her dad, things seem to be progressing there, and I have a funny feeling he won't be in hospital much longer my guess is they will let him home once they have done a complete needs analysis and risk assessment. Hope everyone is doing okay and having a great weekend full stop take care and look after yourselves

      Re: 14th May

Sunday Greetings from stormy south Texas.

Mick, your location looks like a lovely spot for a recharge! Is that your camper? Internet, phone, and TV are all back working Lots of water accumulating in our parking area, so moved my car to higher ground. Probably not necessary, but more comfortable for me.

Thanks for the well wishes, Slo! At times I feel quite determined to regain the AFness that you all enjoy, but am wobbly at other times. Pretty dependent on the AB for now to keep me on track; it’s only been two weeks, and I need more distance.

Ooh, Lav! Your DIL clearly underestimates you!!

TG, I too find it interesting to learn about the brain and addiction. So many survival mechanisms it has! How long before you complete your doula program?

I hit the jigsaw puzzle jackpot at a resale shop yesterday! Until I figure out a more interesting endeavor, at least this activity. Caught the edge of my flip flop on a door threshold last night, and went sprawling into the kitchen. Sore today, but no permanent damage. Taking a tumble is humbling, even in the absence of alcohol.

      Hey PQ, and Sam!

        Greetings friends,

Beautiful here today, perfect for Mother?s Day. Nice just being outside!
YB spent two hours putting together the jungle gym I bought for my chickens. They have destroyed the large forsythia that was in their enclosure & have been sitting/roosting on deda sticks. It really looked like hell so I cleaned it all out & presented them with their new climbing gym. So far they are just circling it & doing a lot of clucking, Lol. I?m sure they will warm up to it in a day or two.
        IMG_5986.jpg

Mick, glad your weekend away has gone well. We have those beautiful cows around here too, lots of cows!!!!
Things sound good for Julie?s Dad. I hope he can go home soon.

Pie, you sound like me, tripping over next to nothing, my speciality! It certainly is humbling, I get that.
I love puzzles too, all kinds, have fun! Treat yourself to what makes you happy right now. Kicking AL out of our lives is hard work & we deserve whatever happiness we can find.

PQ, Cyn, Sam & Slo -hello to all & I hope the weekend has been good for all!

        Have a nice night all!

          Mae all -

Mick, what great pics... looks like those cows just walked out of an episode of "All Creatures..." So glad they have Julie's dad up and walking... and that she has all the "forms" filled out and "ducks in a row"... Here's hoping things can calm down soon - in the meantime, thx for the beautiful pics.

Pie - progress, not perfection... sounds like you are doing really well... watch out for those flip-flops... don't forget that "flip" is in their title... Happy fur-mom day.

Lav, how did it all turn out with your son and the mystery invitation? Seems like they could be doing something for you today? Oh well!!! And happy Fur-mom day to you too! Some of those creatures owe their life to you!!

SLO - here's hoping that you got some love from your kids today - though they may all be busy being moms themselves... such a complicated made-up holiday. But congratulate yourself on having beautiful families...

PPQ - how's your weekend going? Are the boys barbeque-ing for you? Hope so... you have been a steady presence in their lives. Wishing you well for the week ahead...

Today I spent time with my adult niece (who has a mild schizophrenic disorder). I just didn't have energy to go to a busy restaurant, so we picked up some food and then walked a tiny bit to the little lake where my apartment complex is. We saw geese and some goslings who made a nice show of trooping around, so that was fun for her. We have both lost our mothers, so we took bright shiny pennies - one each - and said thank you to our mothers (who were sisters) and dropped them into the lake water. It felt good to acknowledge those wonderful women, and that we miss them. I know a lot of us feel loss on this day...

          Wishing all well -
          TG

How is your low back pain, TG? That chronic pain can be quite depleting. Glad you could see your grandniece’s equestrian performance since it sounds like you wanted to, even though it took it all out of you. What a nice day you had with your cousin! No commercialization of the complicated manufactured holiday, and you remembered your mothers.

Yay, you got a nice day for your time away, Mick! Thank you for sharing your beautiful scenery that you could immerse yourself in for the whole day. The weather is completely lousy here today.

TG has a point; the name flip-flop describes unstable footwear! I’m glad you’re ok, Pie. Antabuse can be a great tool to get a quit going! If jigsaw puzzles are calming and intriguing and put you in flow, then that’s another great tool.

You’re being a good chicken mom, Lav! They think it’s a strange-looking forsythia bush!
If they had wanted you to attend the graduation, then they should have given you advanced notice and invited you, let you know if you needed tickets, etc.
Good thing you have your DIL’s number, Lav! Good boundaries!

I hope PQ is having a good 3-day weekend.

I had brunch out with young daughter. She came home from college this weekend!
This morning a friend texted and invited me to use an extra ticket to see a musical play, so I went to that performance in the afternoon! It was fun music. She and her family drank wines and beers through the performance. That?s the way nowadays!

Yesterday I went up to D1?s for Mabel?s 2nd birthday. Still kinda hard to see ex-HB. Both comforting and painful at the same time.
3 y/o Beckett is often pushy & mean to his sister Mabel. It?s not fair to Mabel, to keep getting hurt by him and keep getting her things taken away. He?s rough, and manipulative too. Like he opened all of her birthday gifts, and she didn?t get to. I need to keep an eye on this situation, and make sure Mabel can thrive. Beckett and his erratic moods & meltdowns end up capturing too much of the parental attention.

I hope you all had good enough weekends, and now we head into the week!

                Re: 14th May

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing okay. It's poured down with rain last night, but it has been nice and sunny all day today. Julie has just gone up to the hospital to see her dad comma things are looking promising apparently they are doing an assessment today. How is this for bureaucracy then? When Julie's dad was admitted to hospital he was on one Ward, Julie had to give them photo copies of her power of attorney for her dad. She got a phone call yesterday from the ward that he is on now asking her for a copy of the powers of attorney. Bearing in mind these two wards are immediately opposite each other she questioned as to why because she had already given a copy to the other Ward. Both are in the same hospital both are opposite each other both are serversed by the same staff etc and what they say is because one is a medical Ward and the other is more of a social assessment as well as medical they cannot share the information so any information that the first word had on Julie's Dad cannot be passed across to the other one to the extent they didn't even know that he had had covid! Hopefully he will be home soon. We go home tomorrow, it has been a lovely break for us both I think we are away again at the end of this month for another weekend.

Hiya pie how are you doing?hope allis well. Yes that is our motorhome. It's pretty comfy. You will find that times that your tempted to just have the one, that's scenario never works, but you are doing really well full stop remember the urge doesn't last forever and you will get through it. Keep going with the jigsaws I used to love doing them!

Hiya lav how are you doing,? hope all is well. Have the chickens take in any interest in their new gym yet? It looks pretty snazzy. Sounds like you had good weather over the weekend as well. take care have a good one

Hiya teegee how are you today then? Hope all is well with you who stop I like what you did in memory of your mum with the shiny penny contrary to any nasty rumor copper wire was not invented by two Scotsman fighting over a penny! You take care of yourself are you still feeling as tired?

Hiya ppqp how was your weekend? Peaceful I hope back to work today I guess. This site here is virtually empty at the moment, it's just retirees in their vans which is absolutely magic no rush no nothing no work just getting on with living life. You take care have a great day

Hiya slo how are you doing? Hope all is well with you. Did you enjoy the play and brunch with your daughter? Concentrate on the good times are not the bad memories if that makes sense take care have a great day as you can see me talking to this phone doesn't always necessarily turn out correctly so that is room for translation! Take care all have a great day

                  Re: 14th May

MAE ALL...sorry for MIA, took the weekend off and just relaxed. Didn't sleep at all last night, I don't know what it is about Sundays but obviously I have to change things up. My son has gone up north to fight the fires, his trailer is up there and he was taking supplies to his friends. We are under a heat dome, Lav you would hate it. On our way up to 30C/86F, it's hitting 35C up north.

Mick...sounds like things are improving for Julie's Dad. The bureaucracy in hospitals is unreal. You just have to shake your head and deal with it. Glad your getaway was good and the weather held up mostly.

Lav...love the jungle gym. You'll have to get some pics of them climbing on it. Sounds like your DIL had some serious ulterior motives. I read back to what you grill on the BBQ, you've motivated me.

TG...alas the propane tank has not been refilled. It's been way too hot on the deck anyways. Hope your back is feeling better.

Slo...glad to hear you're over your illness, sorry Huxley isn't doing as good. Sounds like you had a good mother's day. I did enjoy the 3 day weekend and I actually left early today as I've got some Time in lieu banked. Boss has booked a "renter from h$ll again so you can guess what days I'll be taking off next. LOL

Pi....:yay: 2 weeks :yay: you're doing great. You do what you have to, slow and steady. Keep distracting yourself with the jigsaw puzzles, one of my favorite pastime's.

It is going to be an early night for me. Picked up some zzzquil, I haven't tried this brand so hoping they'll help. Shout out to anyone I missed, I just have to shut this screen down. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

                    Re: 14th May

                    Greetings friends,

Nice weather still holding up here, grateful
Spent extra time outside clearing out two more raised beds, need flowers to plant. My allergies are killing me though haha.

Cyn, nice you spent time with your niece, remembering on mother’s Day. My Mom has been gone since 1986 & I’m still missing her like crazy.
Funny thing about the graduation - I had a feeling commencement started around 10 am so a little after that I looked up the college online & found they were streaming it live. So we got to see our son receive his Master’s degree!!! Better than being there!!!! Lol Knowing my son & his wife they will show up in a week or two with a flower or something for me, it’s all good.

Slo, so far I’ve only seen the chickens walking around the bottom of their new jungle gym, they’ll get there eventually, haha! They naturally like roosting up off of the ground which is why they ended up destroying the old forsythia. I’m really hoping my DIL learned something new about me. I’ve never felt the need to put her in her place before. In her mind SHE’S the only one allowed to do that haha! She’s changed so much since the 2nd grandson was born, diagnosed with Bipolar but I think there’s more going on with her, we’ll see. She’s operating her own therapy office now & studying for her doctorate. It’s all too much, honestly. Sounds like Beckett needs some ground rules where his sister is concerned. I know the squeaky wheel gets the grease & all but Mabel deserves her time to be happy too.

Mick, sounds like your hospitals are just as ridiculous as ours. I don’t know what’s to become of all of us as we continue to age.
I hope Julie’s Dad can go home where he would probably be happier in the long run. Glad you enjoyed your getaway

PQ, 86 degrees just feels awful to me. I wasn’t made for hot weather, probably you as well. I guess we have to be careful what we wish for, Lol
I hope those fires up north are under control soon, geez.

Pie, how are you today? Still looking for more puzzles?

Hello to anyone else looking in & wishing everyone a nice night!

hiya all hope we are well ...today has been a saga and a half ,got a phone call to say that Julies dad may be getting home today subject to some more tests ,.We left the site early to get back ,to hurry up and wait .We then get a call to say he will be coming home by ambulance...mean while I went to pick the rabbits up .Julies dad came home ,and they did yet another risk assessment on him ...his mobility is a lot better ,they put a lot of it down to covid ....and then they found out that they had discharged him without meds ...at that stage they were going ot take him back in ,so I went for the meds ,...next problem they didn't put the meds in blister packs ,the care workers arent allowed to dispense meds unless they are in a blister pack ,so we dispensed them tonight ,and tomorrow we need to go back to the hospital to get blister packs issued ..so it has been a weary day.definitely tired today .sort post ,early night folks

                        Greetings friends,

Nice day here but I hear a cold front is approaching so things will be changing.
Returned to the Amish greenhouse for more perennials, bought several pots of blue salvia. Got a last minute invitation to meet a friend for lunch which was nice. Ihadn?t seen her since before Christmas.

Mick, I?m glad Julie?s Dad is home but sorry about the meds mix up. No one seems to do their job anymore, you know? Sorry you had to do all that rununing around. I hope he?s happy being home & settles in nicely. It?s good to hear his strength & mobility have improved

PQ, Cyn, Slo, Pie & everyone - Hello! Hope everyone is doing well.

I need some additional steps so I guess I should go walk for a bit.

MAE ALL...wow, the wind changed direction last night and blew all the smoke in. It looked like the apocalypse. The whole city was covered with a strong wind. It was so dark the street lights were on all day. We're at an air quality index of 10+, you can bet I wore my mask anytime I was outside.

Mick...what an ordeal with Julie's Dad and his meds. Sorry you had to deal with all that. At least he's home and hopefully happier. I hope you get a good rest tonight.

Lav...what a nice surprise getting an invite to lunch. The blue salvia will look great in your yard.

Managed to get 7.5 hours of sleep last night. Good thing as it was a busy day. The Civic Affairs Director has decided to hold an election forum on Thursday! She asked if we could live stream it, record it and put on the website, arrange for a bold sign on one of the major roads, blah, blah, blah. The short answer was NO. Haha

Shout out to TG, Slo, Pi...hope your day was good. Have a restful evening all...:smile:PPQP

                            Mae all,
My goodness, sounds like it has been a busy time for all! After 6 hours of final work on my class, I pressed the last SEND button... hoping I got it all in... my mental acuity is not great - I just about submitted everything, and then saw a whole section I'd skipped. Sheesh! I can't remember (!) if I have referenced the excellent interview and book about Long Covid, and how it is as damaging to the brain as an impact injury. after hearing the interview I bought the book, and it looks promising in terms of finding ways to rebuild. I sure hope so.

Lav, so glad you got to see your son graduate - very clever of you to look online.
SLO - I agree with you and Lav, Mabel is definintely getting the short end of the stick! I hope the parents can rectify that... no sense being burdened by that your whole life!
Pie - sounds like you are doing great - sending you lots of support -
PPQ - SO SORRY about the smoke - I have a visceral memory of that from two summers ago... I hope the wind changes back - that's the only hope!
Mick - wow, what mixups at the hospital - they literally can't talk to each other across the hallway I guess. Julie's dad is so lucky to have you two - I hope all the timing works out so that you don't have to cut your time away too much. Safe travels.

Well after many hours of sitting at this computer, I am going to TURN IT OFF! So, sending lots of good energy to everyone, and lots of well wishes. Take care -
