    Re: 14th May

    Greetings kids

Holding onto the mostly sunny & dry weather today. Rain is supposed to move in tomorrow.
All plants are in good shape, chickens still avoiding their jungle gym. I?ll threaten to give it to some other deserving chickens, haha!

PQ, the carpeting didn?t begin to bubble up until sometime last year. They said it just stretched on it?s own- who knows? Carpet cleaners are coming very early Tuesday morning.
The last time we needed a new router we got an ?Orbi?. It works great no matter where you are in the house. I hope you get yours straightened out soon

Cyn, good luck with your new course, sounds interesting.
No smoke ended up coming down this way so I guess you got it all, ugh. Hope your weekend is good!

Slo, my first born, my daughter was an emergency C-section. Didn?t have the greatest Apgar score & I worried about her for the first year. She turned out just fine, no troubles. My son was born during a planned repeat C-section, 2 lbs heavier , no distress. He ended up with the ADHD! There?s just no telling how these kids are going to be wired, each one is different. The thing I found with the ADHD kid is they thrive on consistency. A bedtime, mealtime routine is a must. If we deviated just a little with a later than usual meal he freaked out, Lol. I refused to put him on Ritalin so it took a long time & a lot of hard work to make him socially acceptable. He had a heart of gold but teachers & others just noticed his unusual behavior. Beckett will come around, he needs a lot of routine like mine did I guess. My Dad was the family narcissist, a lot like your mother. They?re the ones who teach you how NOT to be.

Mick, maybe Julie?s Dad was just over tired from the transfer to home. It will take some time for him to settle in I imagine. Good luck finding adequate home care services. It really shouldn?t be so hard to do especially for the seniors. Maybe when the weather is good you can get him out for a car ride & a meal or something he would enjoy. It has to be boring to sit & stare at the same walls day in & day out.
Loved the music, thanks for posting it

Pie, hello to you & hope all is going well for you!

    Have a nice night all!

      Re: 14th May

MAE ALL...it was a nice DF/AF day. Got lots done and even started on the Christmas Craft Sale that people have been bugging me to get open so they can register. Geeze.

TG...sorry but we did enjoy a smoke free day today. The cooling system in the community centre is run of what they call swamp coolers. Water pools on the roof and then is sucked through the system to cool it a produce cool air in the building. You can guess what that cool air smelled like. Good luck on the next course.

Slo...honest I didn't send it to TG. LOL Nice to hear that your daughter was paying attention to the situation with Beckett, the talked seemed to have worked. Hope you enjoyed your day with your young daughter.

Mick...sorry to hear Julie's Dad had to go back to the hospital. It must feel like it's never going to end for you. Glad to hear you still have 2 eyes. Haven't had to reboot the router for awhile so fingers crossed it behaves.

Lav...threatening to give the jungle gym to deserving chickens LOL. Stayed indoors because of the smoke and now it's 30C/86F so will be staying indoors because of the heat. I really miss having a Spring. Oh, that makes more sense that the carpet wasn't always like that. Thanks for the tip on the Orbi.

Pi...hope you had a good day.

The little time I spent outside just did me in. Time to relax and figure out what I'm going to make my son cook for supper. LOL Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

        Re: 14th May

        Mae all,

Mick, so sorry about Julie's dad... and yes, post-Covid stuff can be really bad. Forgive me all if I already posted about this - you can see that my mind is not functioning too well - anyway, I heard an NPR story about Long Covid and cognitive issues, and it fits me to a T... I bought the book but haven't gotten too far into because of other studies: "Clearing the Fog" (the author a research professor in psychiatry at Vanderbilt, U). Apparently the brain"damage" can be the same as an impact brain injury (oh goody.) Anyway, Julie's dad may just not have the cognitive wherewithall to understand all these changes. So sorry for so much to handle for you two --- sending comfort and strength.

Lav, you sure have learned a tremendous amount about brain function and health and all those things. Your family is lucky! Tell those chickens to wake up to a great toy! Hoping your garden is coming along... I'm trying to decide if I want live plants on my balcony or just a little table. Step-daughter gave me a great small grill... must save room for that.

SLO - sounds like you have been through a lot on the psychological front in your family... you have come out strong! I hope you get some good "me" time mixed in with family.

PPQ - already working on an Xmas customer? Yikes! That would really spin my head around... glad that you take all of this in stride.

Pie - how's things? More interesting ways to do vegies? Hope all is well -

Well... I have pretty much no energy, no drive... I got out and walked, thinking that would help, but now I am even more sleepy! And some of the Ganders hissed at me as I was walking the lake path. I was not in the mood - I told them to be thankful that I saved the sorry ass of one of their friends, and to leave me alone! I did see a beautiful heron on the lake side though, and somewhere there was a flowering tree that was fragrant... it's the little things...
        Wishing all well -
        TG

          Re: 14th May

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing well. The weather over here is absolutely glorious today who will stop it is 22 degrees we'll stop being out in the garden most of the morning tidying it up and watering it before the heat came up. The air fryer will be getting another use tonight chicken salad I think it is we are having outside first time this year. Julie's dad seemed better today, Julie was in touch with the doctor yesterday as well, and her own doctor has said that he thinks it is long covid too and the advice was when happens again do not take him to hospital as it is just stressing him out. I think Julie has hit the point now where she can't cope and keep him safe come on and I think our mind now is looking more to putting him in a nice care home full stop that being said she went to have a look at one yesterday her words were it was absolutely fantastic come on there was massive interaction with the staff and residents, they do all sorts of things the rooms are decorated and looked after properly as opposed to cellular accommodation in the one she saw previously it didn't smell and the whole place was completely different. There is a waiting list to get into this one it is about two or three miles up the road from our house and it is actually adjacent to Julie's dad's doctors there is one space becoming vacant this coming Wednesday, however I do know that she is putting her dad on the waiting list for this place and I think that is a big relief that she has found somewhere at a reasonable cost in comparison to some of the crazy prices over here and the care seems to be second to none as opposed to what she has seen previously full stop and she has already volunteered me to do the hanging baskets around the outside of the place! I think the big relief for her Ace the fact that she now feels that he isn't necessarily safe in his own place and that continuous care maybe necessary full stop although he did it all the tests and passed all the tests like walking up and down the stairs it only takes one slip when the carers aren't there. It is kind of hard to explain so I'm not really going to go into it. We had a long talk yesterday and I think she feels better within herself. I have said it before and I will say it again I definitely could not have handled this if I was still drinking.

Hiya teegee how are you today then? You are right it is a little things in life we sat outside this morning, not a sound apart from the birds overlooking the hills horses in the fields and then the Deer came from nowhere absolutely fantastic. Yes her dad definitely does not have the cognitive skills to ascertain long covid it's effects and actually what is going on around him. He does not remember going to the hospital, either as an outpatient the other night rindeed his previous stay as an in patient. You take it easy and look after yourself.

Hiya lav how are things with you ? Hope all is well I'm sure some of the sunshine will be on its way over to you quite happy to share it! Yes fingers crossed Julie has found somewhere for her dad if not in the immediate then certainly for the future. Put some more bedding plants in this morning, just normal ground fillers apart from marigolds which I put out specifically to feed the snails and slugs with! Well that's the way it seems. The heads on the marigolds have come off quicker than Henry the 8th wives! You take care and have a great weekend

Hiya ppqp and how are things with you?hope all is good. Hopefully you are having the same weather as us.dont forget, no work phone today.

Hiya pie hope all is good with you

          Have a great weekend everyone

            Re: 14th May

            Good evening friends,

We never got the rain of course haha. The clouds parted this afternoon & we had some sun for a few hours. Why do we bother listening to weather forecasts? Lol

PQ, I’m half expecting to get emails about the craft fairs in November & December any day now. I know it seems early but when you need the time to get everything done you want to take…..
Sorry it got so hot up your way, 86 is too hot!! Enjoy the inside air. My brother had a swamp cooler when he lived in souther Idaho, had never heard of them before that.

Cyn. I totally believe we will all eventually get over this post-Covid brain thing. Our brains have the unique ability to repair damaged cells. One thing that’s not been discussed much is the increase in hot flashes - GEEZ they’re awful. My friend mentioned it to me & I thought wow she’s right!!! Again, I believe it’s related to the damaged brain cells. There’s a new med being introduced that targets brain cells to help get the flashes under control. Reading the list of side effects, especially liver failure kinda turns me off, ugh. Guess I’ll just put up with them. I don’t know what’s going on with my chickens but I only got 3 eggs today, haha! They are doing a staycation I guess We have plenty of Canadian geese around here & I won’t drive off the road to avoid hitting them if yo know what I mean - dumb things.

Mick, I’m glad to hear Julie located an acceptable housing arrangement for her Dad if needs be. That does take the pressure off, for sure!
Do the rabbits mess with your flower beds? The chickens used to eat their way thru mine when I was letting them free range, haha. Having the foxes show up ended that era.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hello to Slo & Pie &anyone stopping by later.

            Have a nice night all.

              Re: 14th May

Mick, sounds like you?re onto a good option for Julie?s dad. There?s a Facebook group named Slow Medicine that y?all might want to have a look at. Discussions are primarily about the issues people face when caring for aging family members. Slugs eat Marigolds??

TG, I?ve felt quite sleepy these past few days also. I?m not busy like you are so maybe allergies or still adjusting to no alcohol.

Lav, I?d pay BIG money for an end to hot flashes. In fact, I just heard a 74?yr old woman say she?s doing well on a Climara transdermal patch for HRT. Have you heard of it?

PQ, usually it?s Mick who mentions Christmas first. Appears you?ve won the 2023 award however!

Slo, Hope you enjoyed daughter?s visit and are having a good weekend.

The new owners of my foster dog are delighted with her, and all is well. I?m rounding the corner into week 4 AF. No killer cravings lately, just a dull headache that?s minor. My car group has a pot-luck meetup tomorrow, so I made an 8am visit to the car wash. Also picked up 4 more jigsaw puzzles at a different resale shop, prepared potato salad from scratch, and saut?ed some bodacious scallops for dinner. Now watching Succession on HBO Max, which will finish up Saturday night at Pie?s place.
