    28th May

    Seeing if this will take.

    Re: 28th May

    Wow, that was difficult.

MAE ALL…I don’t see my post from yesterday so will just carry on. I was feeling a bit down yesterday so decided to make some changes this morning. Was up early and got outside for a long walk. It had rained overnight, and everything was cool and fresh. Nice change from the last couple of days and it did improve my mood.

Starting this week’s thread off by copying Mick’s morning post…

Hiya all.hope all is well with everyone. Another lovely day here to.bit blowy, but nice and sunny. Have enjoyed the break. We watched a Queen tribute band last night..was pretty good. Internet is pretty slow here, but to be fair considering we are in a field in the middle of nowhere, pretty good .went for a walk earlier. We did 11ks walking this morning..really enjoyed it
Hiya Lav,how are you?hope all is good and the weather stays nice for you. Dil not coming,?she makes me sound like a real sociable guy !have a great weekend

Hiya teegee, how are you then?did you sleep OK?hope so. Hopefully you are having decent weather over there .mind you, it matters not. You are always on the move!!!

Hiya to everyone else have a lovely weekend

Mick…your pic of the motorhomes and caravans reminded me of the rodeo’s we’d go to in Brooks and surrounding area. I’m sure everyone appreciated you tripping the electricity for your section yesterday morning, you probably won’t be the only one who does that. I’m glad the bands are good; did you think of Sam? Glad you’re enjoying the break and it looks like the weather is holding up for you.

TG…it does sound like you’re having long days. You didn’t miss my post, it was nowhere to be found. LOL Sorry you’re still having pain in your back, yes, it is tiring. So far, the router has been holding up although I wonder about yesterday. Sometimes printers just don’t want to talk to anyone. LOL Those feelings of “without” will probably take awhile to ease, sending you huge  Wow, midnight tonight sees the completion of your courses. Well done you.

Pi…you’ve come a long way, doesn’t it feel great to be caring about your surroundings and self care. I too learned a lot about addiction when I decided it was time to start living again. Definitely out of the dark and into the light. We’re glad you’re back.

Slo…sounds like you had a good, sick free, visit with your daughter and grandkids. Such a nice change for you. Having a “do nothing” long weekend sounds perfect for you. Lots of time to get ready for your trip to the wedding. I hope you have a great time. I am having a relaxing weekend, haven’t thought about work once. Sounds like you still have a lot to do at your Mom’s house, probably feels never ending. When is the estate sale? Sometimes having a deadline is a good thing, you just end up getting everything you can done and what isn’t doesn’t matter.

Lav…enjoy that nice weather you’re having. I hope your outdoor cat didn’t bring any babies back with her. Must feel good having everything back in it’s place. What time did you say the cookout starts? Wish I lived closer to you. Might be a blessing that DIL isn’t coming. When you mentioned YB wanting a bigger TV all I could think of was “Boys and their toys.” Hope you have a great visit today.

Planning on finishing the online portion of my First Aid course today. Just couldn’t bring myself to do any of it yesterday. Thursday will be the all-day classroom CPR portion.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday…..:smile:PPQP

(Wouldn't post, trying again. Arrg, nope. Will log out and back in.)

      Re: 28th May

Oh no, I posted on the wrong thread! So, read all about it on last week’s thread! Maybe someone like PQ will know how to bring it over…I’m not sure how to do that.

Mick, good thing you get up early so you could get some Internet service! The tribute bands sound fun.
Everyone keeps memorabilia -but do you keep absolutely every thank you note and every card etc. that you’ve ever been given in your entire life?? That’s what I’m wading through of my mother’s.

TG, get the coursework done today, and then you can actually enjoy the course and learn from it!

I took a long walk (25-30 minutes) with my neighbor yesterday evening, and it caused a lot of knee pain in my bum knee. So I need to walk in the evening, then I can get off of it for 12 hours during rest & sleep. I miss not being able to enjoy walks. But at least it’s biking season, so I’ll go out for one of those today!

Hope you’re all having good weekends!

Here you go Slo, your post from the other thread...

        Good afternoon, fine folks!

Yes, I am enjoying laying low this weekend and doing lots of laundry, shopping, oil change & gas for car, getting the lawn sprinkled during this drought, etc.

That sounds like a great Memorial Day picnic, Lav! I wish your daughter & family could come too, but they’re probably busy. My daughter D2 who lives in town wouldn’t be able to come for a picnic here because of her husband’s very recent knee surgery. And they normally don’t stay around on 3-day weekends.
I guess YB can fit a big TV in the basement because now that he got rid of the big entertainment center. As soon as I left our home after the divorce, ex-HB chucked the entertainment center we had and got a giant TV.
My mother will stay occupied at her new place because she is living near 4 growing grandchildren, so she will be attending their soccer games, dance recitals etc.

          Good evening friends,

Coolish & cloudy here today which made for a good day to cook out. Son & grandsons just left, it was nice seeing them all together for a change. Son took over grill duties & that was perfect

PQ, I had plenty of food left over, shame you weren’t here, haha! It was much calmer & peaceful here without the DIL, what can I say?
So you’re still having internet issues at home? Have fun with your First Aid course work, stuff we all should know for sure. YB can go buy any TV he wants, I really don’t care. Boys & their toys for sure Lol

Slo, isn’t it weird how sometimes long walks make you feel good & other times you’re limping on the way home? Ouch, I feel for you.
I wish we could just buy new skeletons on Amazon, we seem to wear them out pretty quickly. Take it easy!!

Mick, sounds like maybe you’re enjoying the trip, nice! Sometimes tribute bands are almost as good as the originals.
I hope the weather clears up for you.

Cyn, congrats on getting through your class work! That’s awesome & now you can relax & let it all sink in so to speak.
Don’t forget to Google those Safe Patient Transfers videos on youtube before you see your elderly client again. It’s the best thing for both of you.

Pie, hope you’re having a relaxing weekend. Do you think you will be fostering any more dogs in the future? I sometimes wish I could do that but my 11 year old beagle mix would have a fit having another dog in the house, ugh.

          Have a nice night all!

            Mae all,

Mick, so glad you are enjoying your stay, that is great - so well-deserved for you both.

SLO - yes, it is good that the house-cleanout will have an end date - perfect!

Lav, i so wish that I could have dropped by your house for your holiday feast - it sounded so great (green bean salad?). Glad that DIL stayed home... (wink)

PPQ - glad you got out and had a nice walk - after a rain is always so special.

Pie - hope you are not too hot down there already - sending cool breezes.

Thank goodness this computer has a touch screen... just as I was about to post (my penultimate) assignments, I suddenly lost the use of the I-beam... hmmm. That after a morning without internet, thanks to some outage. Then they texted me to say the outage was over - but mine didn't come on - then I spent 30 minutes "chatting" with some bot that was trying to tell me I needed to wait until Tuesday and pay $75 for a technician to come fix it... grrrrrrrr! I went to Whole Foods to use the internet there, and by the time I came back to the apartment, the internet was fine. Then the computer went crazy... oh well! Just one more assignment to finish by Tuesday and I'll be FREE!
(PS, Lav, thx for the reminder - my elder is doing better (even if the granddaughter doesnt' give her night meds, oh well...) so hopefully I won't need the skills right away, but I'll be ready.

Okay kids, good night. I am eating my strawberry oat-milk ice "cream". My big treat for being almost-done...
            Wishing all well -

              Re: 28th May

              Hi guys!

Thanks for the kick off, PQ, and for shuttling posts to the intended destinations, and getting your own post to come through! I can nearly smell those burgers cooking on the grill at Lav’s.

Mick, when I first got a generator, I also acquired a device to measure the amount of electricity pulled by things I might use during a power outage. For sure the refrigerator, space heater, and a lamp can run at the same time. Would need to unplug heater though in order to use coffeemaker. Using the microwave would mean unplugging everything else. The handy dandy measuring device is named Kill A Watt.

End of your coursework, TG? How exciting! Bravo to you!!

Slo, do you have access to a swimming pool for exercise. Ours has just opened for the season.

Lav, I’m not sure on the fostering front. Much as I enjoy it, none of my three dogs do. Mostly it’s my male dog who makes it difficult, but I’ve also got a 15 yr old female who’s started declining rapidly. Definitely not a time to bring in a newbie.

Went to lunch with my brother on Friday and we visited our parents’ columbarium at the VA cemetery. It was especially nice to see all the flags and flowers for Memorial Day. My weekend project is planting flowers at some of the other condos in my building. We are 14 units lining the main driveway starting at the entrance, so very visible. Likely I’ll get 3 units done, then will wait for feedback to decide about doing more. Honestly hoping others will be inspired to add some TLC of their own.

Hello everyone and how are we today then? happy holiday to you all weather was a bit cloudy this morning, but we have now got a temperature of 23 degrees which for this part of the world is pretty good for stop well all Good Things Have to come to an end and we had back in about an hour's time, so I thought I would do a quick post before we start the journey. I guess a lot more people will be doing it as they are back at work tomorrow, unfortunately that's not the case for us haha however we still have to get back for Julie's Dad. I'm banking on setting off pretty soon just to beat the traffic on the start of the motorways, I'm pretty sure I will get caught in it so who knows what time we get home. It has been a great break for us, Julie has enjoyed herself, we enjoyed the Bands the weather and also being away in the van however we have done it now so that is it. I prefer going to places where we can get out and about full stop yes again I tripped the electric this morning, I know what it is it is the electric kettle that's doing it the total amperage with a kettle exceeds the six amp Mark. Fortunately I brought a kettle that we can put on the gas cooker, yep one of those whistling kettles so we used that full stop hope everyone has had a great weekend and bank holiday irrespective of what you have done take care look after yourselves and I will speak to you later

                  Re: 28th May

                  Greetings friends,

Partly sunny with a nice breeze here today so it didn’t really feel like 80+ degrees.
We attended the Memorial Day ceremony in town this morning & got to see our oldest grandson playing saxophone with the High school band for the first time. Hard to believe he will be in high school in September. Time flies, he was the one that made me quit when I did so I could enjoy him to the fullest & I have

Cyn, computer & internet issues drive me crazy. I haven’t picked up that many skills over the years so I always have to ask someone for help. Glad you got things sorted out. I know you’re looking forward to the end of your class, yay for you!!!! I’m loving the oat milk & cashew milk ice reams, yum

Pie, the burgers were extra good last night because I didn’t have to cook them. My son likes to do that so I’m happy.
Planting flowers is always a worthwhile activity, everyone who sees them enjoys them.

Mick, hope the traffic wasn’t too bad driving home. Glad you guys had a good time. Ihave 1 or 2 old fashioned whistling tea kettles around here, nothing wrong with them haha!

                  Hello to PQ & Slo!

                  Have a nice night all!

                    Re: 28th May

MAE ALL...wow, you'd think I'd taken 2 weeks off instead of day. Dealing with the massive voice and email messages kept me busy till about 2pm at which time I did some more work on my online course. About 20 after 4 I clicked next and it came up with print certificate. That was a shock. Now the in class on Thursday and I'm done for a year.

Lav...sounds like it was a successful cookout and I hear you about calm and peaceful. LOL Most of the First Aid course was common sense but I did learn a few things. They should teach it in school, everyone should know the basics. Glad the 80+ wasn't too bad with the breeze. How lovely that you could see your grandson playing the saxophone and what a special bond.

TG...walking after the rain is always the nice way to go. LOL I feel your pain about the internet outage and the 30 minutes bot talking. What a rip off, $75 for a tech to come out and then having everything working when you got home anyways. Sorry you're computer went crazy, it's probably sick of your courses too. Good luck tomorrow and FREEDOM.

Pi...look at you with your own Kill A Watt. I remember you are quite the Handyperson. You may not be doing the fostering but I bet you'll still be involved in rescuing and transporting. Nice that you saw your brother for lunch on Friday. I'm sure everyone will enjoy the flowers at the condos and I bet you inspire lots to come out and plant. Great way to spend some time with your neighbours.

Mick...I just knew you'd trip the electricity at least once more. LOL Good that you figured out what was doing it and had a work around. I'm glad that the break was good and that Julie enjoyed herself. You both needed it. I hope the traffic home wasn't too bad but it was a bank holiday weekend after all. At least you didn't have to get ready for work tomorrow. I bet the next vaca will find you at a place of great exploring.

Slo...you must be almost ready to head out for your week long trip. Safe travels and have a great time.

It's election night in Alberta so will be watching some of the results but will probably be in bed before the winner is announced. Have no idea what it'll be like at work tomorrow if the bosses sister doesn't keep her PM job.

                    Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

                      Re: 28th May

                      Good evening,

Thanks for pulling my post over, PQ! Yeah, those First Aid & such courses for employees don’t usually take that long. I sure hope your boss’s sister gets back in, for your sake!

You had a true Memorial Day weekend, Lav; with a cookout and a parade. Cool that you saw your grandson in his first official capacity as a high schooler! Where do the years go?! I still think of my niece and my nephew as little kids, yet they both suddenly shot up and are starting high school this year also. I guess my nephew is dropping band now though, so his 8th grade concert was his last. I should see them more.

Pie, you had a true Memorial Day weekend too, with visiting parents’ graves with family in a VA cemetery, and planting flowers. Is the condo association providing the flowers for you to plant? I hope it turned into a group effort. I can see why you want it looking nice when it is displayed right out in front.

I have been watering my brown grass a lot this long weekend. I didn’t think I’d have to do any lawn care when moving to a condo, but here we have to sprinkle our own lawns. There’s no rain in the forecast for this coming week when I’m going to be gone.

There, Mick; you’ve done an RV rally! Now you can cross that off the list. I’m sure it was refreshing to get away for a bit.

TG, glad your internet /computer sputtered back to life before you were out $75! Hopefully it will work tomorrow when you send in your last assignment.

Well, we sure had a nice weekend here. Beautiful weather!

Hiya all how are we doing today then?hope all is well. Back home to the madness, and trying to sort out the issue around a health service which is clearly obvious doesn't take within its departments.more stuff to fix,but tbh it's same old same old The break was good, we are away on the 18th again, down to Wales. Picked the rabbits up this morning, then picked up my new driv glasses..no more Mr Magoo for me.Really lovelyand sunny here again today, I'm sitting watching the rabbits play.

Hiya ppqp .sounds like fun and games at your work!!did his sister keep her job,?yes back to Wales for next trip..probably climb Mount Snowdon.,and other mad activities.

Hiya lav, how are you doing?glad you got tosee grandson playing. A result for quitting drinking definitely a great result. Food always tastes better when it's cooked for you. Have a great day 😀

                          Re: 28th May

TG, our oppressive summer heat has not yet set in. Whispering here, so as not to attract its attention.

Lav, raising my hand too for whistling tea kettle owner. What I’d really enjoy is an old fashioned, stovetop coffee percolator. Haven’t yet found one that will work with my induction cooktop.

Yes, PQ, I’m still available for rescue needs that don’t involve bring a pup home. My old girl showed some troubling new symptoms over the weekend. Have a vet appointment for her on Thursday, but Dr. Google provided a dismal prognosis. Im now focused solely on pain control, and very worried. Hope your election results are favorable.

Hi Slo, our condo association does the heavy lifting on the landscaping front, but we’re allowed to add seasonal color, so that’s what I did. Have received several appreciative comments, and folks have offered to help with the watering. Where is it that you’re traveling to?

Hey Mick, welcome back to the real world. Quit is going very well. Now at 30 days, which feels like a good start. Thinking about getting two implants; teeth, I mean. Do I recall you’ve had some experience in that arena? Any advice?

Off to rinse out my hair color. Roots were in need of attention.

                            Good evening friends,

Nice weather still holding here. Still no rain though so everything needs to be watered. I hear it’s going to hit 90 degrees on Friday, ugh. The AC will definitely be on that day.

PQ, glad your class is moving along. We had to do CPR classes yearly when working at the hospital along with a bunch of other things. It’s burned into my brain, haha! How did the election go?

Slo, are you having a mini drought too? It’s crazy not having any rain yet this month, we usually get plenty.
Glad your Memorial Day weekend was good too

Mick, yo had quite a good trip. I imagine the rabbits are happy to be back home too.
I’m still smiling after seeing my grandson playing with the high school band, he looked pretty happy too

Pie, we have one of those old stovetop percolators, haha! We used to use it in our popup camper a lifetime ago. The camper is long gone but we still have a lot of stuff that was inside it for some reason. I am definitely not going camping again!! I don’t even know if they make them for induction cooktops, good question. Nice people are appreciating the flowers

Hello to Cyn, hope you are OK.

MAE ALL…Yup, the boss’s sister won the election. I’m glad it’s all over, sick of all the mud slinging in the news. Boss said he felt like he was defending Hitler by the end of the campaigns. She will be a thorn in the Prime Minister’s side for the next 4 years. Haha

Slo…you’re welcome. All I do is copy and paste it. Then I put it in Italics so it stands out as a copy. This is the first time I’ve done the First Aid/CPR course. After this it’s just a re-certification needed yearly. Watering your brown grass…LOL I’m surprised you have to even do that living in a condo. Do you pay condo fees and do you get a break for having to do the watering yourself? Who pays for the water? Inquiring minds want to know. Have you headed off to the wedding now?

Mick…glad you’re home safe and sound and apparently right back at it. Hang in there you’ll get everything sorted out with the health service, like you say same old, same old. When I hear you say you’re sitting there watching the rabbits play I always think about the challenge you overcame getting them to bond. I can’t get you driving and Mr. Magoo out of my mind. LOL Wales is a great choice, once again you’ll be putting us all to shame with your stamina.

Pi…first off :yay: 30 days :yay: that’s some milestone. Glad you whispered; you don’t want to be putting that out to the universe. Sorry to hear your old girl is starting to struggle. Stay off Dr. Google, everyone is dying when you google. Just wait to see what the vet says. Stay focused, one day at a time, and it sounds like your plan of focusing on pain control is the right one. I’m so glad you’ve got 30 days in as you’ll have a lot to deal with.

Lav…we got a bit of a shower this afternoon, just enough to bring out the humidity. LOL Ugh, 90! I can see more embroidery projects in the near future. Should I get my order in now? Everyone in childcare does the course yearly and it’s burned into their brains. I’ll get there. It was a long night as they changed up the way to count the advanced polling which took forever. They’ll be making changes before the next election. It was actually one of the more interesting results to watch as some of the elected seats were won by 7 votes. There’ll be a lot of recounts going on. Not enough to make a change to the outcome, maybe a change in a seat or two.

TG…hope you’re ready to get that last assignment in and then shut it down. Good luck.

Son called me at noon today to see if I’d gone for lunch yet. I picked him up and took him to the mall for tacos. Told him I was thinking of having tacos for supper tonight but that’s ok. He texted me around 4 and said he could go for tacos again for supper. LOL So that was our lunch and supper.

                              Have a good night all…:smile:PPQP
