    Re: 28th May

mae all,how are we today then? hope all is well. it is 0625,Ive been up since 5 ...couldn't sleep but I love seeing daybreak anyway .Bit overcast here atm ,but its pretty early.

hiya Lav ,how are you doing? hope all is well over yonder.Yep thats the trouble with the hot weather ....you have to water everything .When se were down in London ,it was just before the Coronation ,and they were doing the gardens up outside Buck Palace including laying turf .a small bit of said turf jumped into my pocket ,brought it home and growing it in greenhouse..said piece of turf is now about 8 inches square!!!Yes it was great to see the rabbits ,they are back to normal again .

hiya Slo ,how are you doing? hope all is well with you.sounds like you are getting the hot weather too.

hiya pie ,how are you doing? congrats on 30 days ...well done you .Sorry to hear about your dog,but Doctor Google is probably the worst place to go !!you can imagine all sorts of things from what it tells you .Advice on implants? yep Ive got "a few" All I would say ,is get the best you can for the funding available ,and it sounds kind of like that you will be getting them done at a local dentist...a lot of people go abroad ie turkey Bulgaria etc its cheaper but the results can be horrific .My implants cost quite a bit ...but its about quality of life ..I could have sat counting the pennies eating dribbly mince and jelly,or pay the money and eat properly ..there are no pockets in shrouds ...

hiya ppqp...so you like tacos?how is work has it calmed down now or ae you still getting shedfuls of emails etc?put your out of office on for a couple of days ...and direct it all somewhere else!!!Yes its hard work with the health service ...its even getting Julie down all this incompetent bureaucratic crap, and she did all this junk and more for 38 years in the PS .you could not make some of it up ...It was hard going with these 2 rabbits ...would I do it again? in a heartbeat ...the outcome is so rewarding .

hiya teegee hope all is good ?

      Re: 28th May

Mick, I appreciate your feedback on the dental implants. The two I need are towards the back, so not visible, but desperately needed for chewing. It’s 100% a quality of life issue as you say. From Texas, Mexico is the most common “medical travel” destination. I wouldn’t even consider buying that bus ticket! Having a consult next week with local specialist, and prepared to dig deep to get squared away.

Thanks all for your support as I reclaim my AF life! Was driving to errands this morning when i became aware of feeling happy inside. It’s been a long, long time.

        Re: 28th May

What wonderful news, Pie, that you have crested the first 30 days! And happiness is beginning to break through!
I just received word from my cousin that her son is back in alcohol rehab for the third time this year, and he has told her that he just wants to live life as a drunk.
So sad, but an indication of how hard this is to turn away from and learn to live AF.

I drove during the day yesterday, and arrived at my daughter D3 & son-IL’s house last evening. Baby Andy is so cute! He turned 7 months old yesterday!
Tomorrow we will drive all day to the mountains of North Carolina for my niece’s wedding on Saturday. Well, ex-HB’s niece, anyways. I suppose I lost the official title of Aunt in the divorce. My friend from this area will join us soon here, and she will be my guest in my Air BnB condo, and at the wedding.

We had tacos here last night too! They work for gluten-free, vegetarian daughter; and I travel with my own meat and make them work for mostly dairy-free me too!

Yes, we are in a drought back home. My new-ish sod grass has browned quite a bit. We have to water our own lawns, but at least the water doesn’t cost extra, as we pay a flat fee for water. We do pay an ever-rising monthly condo fee. No in-ground sprinklers included though.

Best wishes for all for a great AF day.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

            Re: 28th May

            Good evening friends,

Bright & sunny here again & not too hot yet. Not looking forward to Friday’s heat.
We went out & dragged home 250 lbs chicken feed today, always a thrill, haha!

Pie, Congrats on your 30 days AF :welldone:
Feeling happy inside is a sure sign you’re on the right path. Keep going forward.

PQ, glad your elections turned out in a good way. We are already hearing so much BS about the 2024 presidential election, ugh. The beggars are already looking for donations too. Trump plans to run again but I sincerely hope he’s behind bars by then. We can’t take anymore of him.
Glad you enjoyed your tacos today
We are having air quality issues here due to the wildfires in Nova Scotia, more than 1,000 miles away, geez.

Mick, I’ve been waking up a little earlier this week too., who knows why?
I bet you would enjoy a visit to Longwood Gardens. You could go home with a pocket full of illegal clippings to grow in your greenhouse, Lol
We haven’t been there since last summer for some reason, should go soon.

Slo, that’s quite a trip you’re taking. I hope you enjoy the ride & the wedding.
Eating on a road trip can be problematic when you need to avoid certain things. I have to ask for everything to be unsalted so I don’t end up with a BP issue & swollen feet, ugh. Have fun with your friend, sounds good.

Cyn, I hope your day was fabulous now that your studies are completed. What will you do with all your spare time, haha!

            Have a nice night all.
Heading out to trim some shrubs.

              Re: 28th May

MAE ALL...one of our board directors, who was organizing a park cleanup for this Saturday, was found dead in his bed yesterday morning. He had just returned from a walking vacation in Europe. He was a fit 67 year old, always active bike riding, gardening, helping neighbours. Apparently he threw up twice on Sunday and then felt like he had bad indigestion or maybe food poisoning on Monday. His daughter found him Tuesday morning when she went to the house. We have reorganized the park cleanup and the memorial will be June 10th same day as our community garage sale so have been reorganizing that too.

Mick...did the overcast skies clear up? Sorry Julie is dealing with all the "crap" it must feel like it never ends. So glad the rabbits are happy and healthy and of course you'd do it all over again. Emails are continuing but they're manageable. The task right now is finalizing our rate increases, implementing new Corporate Memberships and getting the long-term rental contracts out to our current clients by July 1st. Next week will see me setting up the fall programs and I have to get the craft sale registration program launched to get a few people of my back. Once I'm comfortable with all that I'm booking a week off!

Pi...isn't it wonderful when you just all of a sudden realize you're feeling happy! That happened to me too. I'm so proud of you persevering and it'll only get better.

Slo...sorry to hear your cousin is back in rehab, so hard on everyone. I'm sad to hear that he's taking that route. Glad that the first stage of your trip went without a hitch and I'm so glad you'll have your friend for the rest of the drive and the wedding. Have a great time.

Lav...aah the annual chicken feed drag. LOL I'm just glad the election is over and now all the talk is will they call a leadership review. The drama continues. LOL We hear all the news about Trump and I'm with you. I've been watching the news about the Nova Scotia wildfires, some of the pictures are unreal. Apparently it started with someone doing an illegal burn. Our weather is turning tomorrow and rain is on it's way. I'll send it off to you next.

TG...hope you succeeded in getting everything in yesterday and am taking a well deserved breather.

It's my all day CPR course tomorrow so at least I can ignore everything work related. Looking forward to the break. LOL Have a restful evening all...:smile:PPQP

                Re: 28th May

                Mae all -

                Thanks for all your news.

Pie, HUGE CONGRATS on 30 days, that is awesome. Sending you hugs for whatever lies ahead with your sweet girl, lots of support here...

PPQ - I am thinking that I should have a CPR/Emergency course. Thx for the idea.

Lav, what a sweet story about your grandson. Bless him for giving you "the push" and enabling us all to be in this thing Together!

Mick, how is the Buck Palace turf looking today? You absolutely crack me up... On the other hand, if they needed to bring the Scone Stone to London to make the Coronation legal, then I think you taking home some turf is perfectly appropriate.

SLO - you are always on the go, girl. I admire you! I don't think I could do it... wishing you safe travels...

Worked right to the end of the class submissions yesterday. It will take awhile for me to realize I'm done. Now the real learning starts - going back and deciphering my notes and going through the videos to see if I remember anything. This is not for "credit"... I just really need to know the material (beyond what we were tested for!!)

Had a mad day all day today, starting with my work on the Homeless Meals beginning at 7AM, and see my elder, and a few appointments. Hoping tomorrow will be calmer...

                Cheers all,
                TG

hiya all,how are we doing today then?hope everyone is good .overcast here but warm .took van in for a service and its annual roadworthiness inspection. It passed no problem ,so I have to go and pick it up.We have found a place for Julies dad ...they did the assessment yesterday and accepted him....the next issue is for him to get used to the idea of moving ...he is adamant he is not moving out of his house ....and yet the carer went there this morning to find the back door wide open...not just unlocked but wide open .Its going to be a hard task to get him there ,but apparently this is the norm the lady said ,but once they get there the settle down .I understand it too,but its balancing a whole host of things to get the best result for him and others .apologies for theshort post but I have to walk down for the van (2 miles)before they close.

                    Re: 28th May

Hey Slo, there are new sober resources online since I first went looking back in 2010 or so. This Naked Mind and Recovery Elevator are two that might be of interest to your cousin’s son.
Lav, waking earlier than usual around here too. I draw the line at 4:30 am though. Any earlier and I just ignore myself.
PQ, I’m always shocked when someone I know passes unexpectedly. It’s the end I’d choose however; here one day, gone the next with no drawn out decline. Enjoy the change of pace at your class tomorrow.
TG, are you familiar with the work of Barbara Karnes? I’m about to order her booklet on pain management. Essentially, handling pain at end of life is different from when a person is expected to get better.
Mick, I’m still chuckling at the palace grass jumping into your pocket. Priceless!

Seems to be a morbid thread running through my post today. Fitting then to share with you that my dog has a brain tumor, and the vet says, “It’s time.” I’m opting for comfort care through the weekend in the hope of giving my girl a few good days before saying goodbye.

Taco on, my friends. Good thing we don’t drink!

                      Re: 28th May

                      Good evening friends,

It’s heating up around here so the AC is now on. I know I’ll sleep better, that’s for sure. 90+ tomorrow, yuck.
Hoping for some rain on Saturday so I can skip a day of watering plants outside.

Pie, I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. It’s so hard to let them go because they are family. My son had 2 Goldens (I used to call them the Insanity Twins). The male had a brain tumor, had some seizures & couldn’t walk. It’s sad. I’ll be thinking of you & sending you strength

Mick, good news on the van inspection, always a plus when they pass without any work needed.
Julie’s Dad may put up a little fuss at first but he will settle down. I know mine did when I moved him to a nearby nursing home as he was getting more & more confused daily.
You & Julie will be able to relax a little knowing he’s in a safe space.

Cyn, I think you will be surprised at how much you remember. Learning new material awakens the old brain cells, haha!
Take some time for yourself now, you deserve to after all the hard work.

PQ, that was shocking news about your board director. I imagine his family must be horrified.
You’re still pretty busy at work, don’t forget to schedule some time off. I’m still amazed after all these years at just how much a chicken can eat haha! Maybe mine are pig-chickens haha!!

Slo, hello to you & I hope your trip is going well.

                      Have a nice night all!

                        Re: 28th May

MAE ALL...started reading the posts and when I clicked liked on Mick's it wouldn't take then got a this site can't be reached message. So I'm trying again...got to my course only to find out the instructor called in sick and it was cancelled. They said they emailed me and left voice messages. Yup, all went the office so I never heard or saw them. I'm rescheduled for next Wednesday. Confused everyone at work so I told them they had an accelerated course that only took 1/2 hour. LOL

TG...glad you got your course submitted on Tuesday, now you can take your time and go through the stuff you had to race through. Sounds like you had a full day yesterday, time to slow down and take some me time.

Mick...I think this is the first roadworthy pass test you've reported! Well done. Yes, you guys will have a tough time getting Julie's Dad moved but it will all work out in the end. After what you've both been through I know you'll get through this as well. And there you are on the go again. At least it's not raining.

Pi...it's the end I'd choose too. Although the course didn't happen I did have a relaxing no rush morning and the course was only 2 blocks away so I was quite refreshed when I showed up for work. LOL Awe Pi, I'm sorry to hear the outcome. It'll be nice to have her over the weekend before saying goodbye. :heartbeat:

Lav...90+ It was only 9C/48F and overcast here today. Looked like the beginning of winter. A day for a fire and good book. We'll be climbing back to 27C/80F starting tomorrow though. That is a lot of feed and I think they're actually Chickpigs. LOL He was actually in the process of reconciling with his wife. She got in touch with the boss yesterday and we'll be having the memorial at the community centre next Saturday. We're expecting close to 200 people! Things are a little busy right now as we're transitioning from Spring programs to Fall programs with registration to open Aug 1st and the addition of the new Corporate Memberships to take effect Sep 1st. I'll get everything setup and then take some time off over the summer.

Slo...hope you made it to your destination safely and you're enjoying your time with your friend.

There's a lot of drama going on in the childcare department right now. I like both the directors and they both have their pros and cons so I'm staying neutral and just being there to listen. I really hope they get everything sorted out soon and we can get back to our happy family.

                        Wishing everyone a good night...:smile:PPQP

                            Re: 28th May

Greetings, friends! I’m drinking my tea and enjoying my mountain view from my vacation home high up in the mountains!
Lav, I escaped that heat when I left D3’s house and traveled up into the mountains where it’s much cooler.

My friend & I enjoyed dinner out last night at a Mexican restaurant with my former SIL and her close cousin that she grew up with & his wife. They are here from England for the wedding. That was fun! They got more relaxed & fun than I could with their margaritas, wine, & beer that they could indulge in, but oh well. I nibbled on the lime that decorated the glass of my friend’s first margarita, not thinking that it would have been bathed in the alcohol when the glass was full…that powerful substance that I must avoid warmed my bloodstream and calmed me just with that tiny accidental taste…
But NO -too many downsides that I see. Like my former SIL is “enjoying” her wines -but I can also see that she is ensnared and must have her wines, and her bloated face and eyelids give it away: there is some level of alcohol dependency there, and daily drinking is a must. Meanwhile, I am now free of that!

Thank you for explaining the Witt walk, Mick! Are you walking, or staying put in one village to enjoy the bands that come through?

PQ, your day worked out well in a way when the CPR course got canceled! You are wise to stay neutral with your friends in the Childcare department.
You’re really in a busy patch at the centre now! Shocking about that guy’s sudden death, when he’s not too old and seemingly doing so well. A reminder I guess that we never know when our time here is up.

TQ, I think you’re on the go a lot! And always challenging yourself with new things. Hopefully the next few days have a little less going on for you.

Pie, well you’re right! I’m in a position with my experience in this (alcohol addiction), to direct my cousin to helpful resources for her son! All he’s going to get at the rehab centers is that goofy AA stuff. Annie Grace’s podcast & programs would be a great resource for her young-ish son! Thanks for the tip about Recovery Elevator too.
I’m sorry about what you face now with your doggy. So sad to be spending your last weekend with her. It’s a gift you are giving her though, so that she leaves her time here filled with love.

Off for a daytime excursion to some shops & sights today. Be well.

                                Good evening friends,

It was hot at 92 degrees today but it wasn’t our typical east coast humidity, thank goodness.
We just spent an hour walking thru the First Friday event in town. It’s fun, lots of people milling around just enjoying themselves. I wish they would get some better vendors though, I’m not interested in buying jerky & popcorn although YB did haha!

PQ, sorry your class was cancelled. Now you’r e going to have to work up interest in going again, Lol
Sounds like you have enough going on at work right now to keep you busy until the end of the year, oh boy!! I hope your weekend is good. It doesn’t get too hot.

Mick, I love band competitions of any sort. That looks like a cool event, hope you had fun

                                Pie, thinking of you

Slo, I’m jealous of your cool mountain air. I hope the weeding goes great & you enjoy all the company.
I’m gla that you can make useful suggestions for your cousin’s son. I’m not a fan of the AA stuff myself but if it helps people it’s OK. I haven’t been close enough to anyone consuming alcohol for a long time. Seems my family has all moved. Away from it too. Did I start a trend? I don’t know.

Cyn, hope your day has been good!

Better go put the Chickpigs to bed before dark, haha!
                                Have a nice night all.
