    Re: 28th May

    MAE ALL...

Mick...I had to look up Whit walk and this is what I found...First held in Manchester over 200 years ago in 1801, such walks were held to encourage community activity without the demon drink...sounds like a good enough reason to me to drive into Manchester. Hope you enjoyed it. No, no Mick, I'm sure it has nothing to do with you. LOL I got home tonight and had no internet and thought NOT AGAIN. Then I investigated the fact, son had done some more carpet cleaning in the living room, moved some chairs around and I thought maybe the cable is just loose. Sure enough pushed the cable in and poof, internet! We had gorgeous weather here today and everyone had the same thought TGIF!

Slo...sounds like you're enjoying your trip. Escaping the heat was a bonus. Hope the wedding and all goes well.

Lav...I hope this isn't the start of an extensive heat wave for you. Wonder why you didn't get the humidity but at least it's a good thing. I figure the vendors can make or break an event, glad YB enjoyed them.

Pi...hope you're making wonderful memories with you and your pup. Stay strong, we are here for you.

TG...hope you can have some down time this weekend.

Off to find some more pain killers. I've developed a toothache that comes and goes and right now it's letting me know it hasn't gone anywhere. No money, no insurance, worse come to worse I'll get an emergency appointment and work out a payment plan. I did get documentation stating I've paid off all my debts as of the 15th of May so will have more disposable income next pay cheque. YAY

Have a good night all...especially the chickpigs (really wanted to call the chickpeas but that wouldn't work)...:smile:PPQP

      Mae all -

We've been having hot weather here, but right now the evening is cool, and (since I finally cleaned off the no-so-big balcony at my apartment, I actually have the door open, and there's a soft breeze.

      Thanks for everyone's news ...

Pi - sending you lots of solace for this weekend. I'm glad that you have a couple of days to give her all the love. I'll be thinking of you, so sorry for this hard time...

Lav, I have to laugh at the "chickpigs" - sounds like they are a hardy bunch. I like the idea that you started a trend in your family... you are a powerful mover and shaker...

PPQ - sorry about the class, but thx again for getting me to think about a similar class for myself and my work! I'm so sorry to hear about that gentleman... A GOOD REMINDER TO US ALL: get all your End of Life Legal papers and your final wishes written down, and tell someone where it is... it saves so much heartache for those left behind,,,

Mick, sorry about your post. It used to happen so often to me that I now routinely copy my post, just in case. Here's another tip... I now read everything that folks post BEFORE I sign in... that seems to help not having my posts disappear... but I can't see the photos until I sign in, SO now I will look back and see your pics... it sounds grand.

SLO - so glad that you are having a good time. Yep, beware of those sneaky triggers... not worth it! Yes, in addition to Annie Grace's podcasts, and the other thing Pi mentioned (new to me) I can recommend an online sobriety group that I love call "Tempest", (but now they are being subsumed by "Monument" - hopefully all will remain the same.0 They have trained addiction counselors moderating all zoom groups, really good online resources, and terrific videos on the neuro-biology of addiction. There are more and more wonderful resources out there, thank goodness.

Okay, I'm going to soak up the beautiful clouds outside my windows... such a pretty sight...
      Wishing all well -
      TG

Mae all, how are we today then?hope all is well. We went to the walks yesterday, absolutely brilliant . We stayed for about four hours and then walked home seven and half miles in total. The bands were absolutely brilliant, there where two Swedish bands a German band and one from Southern Australia and of course Scotland as well as youth and bands from all over UK.I will try and post the video I took but I am struggling to put it on here in a recognised format . Another absolutely gorgeous day over here, I think it's a sit in the garden day. Hope everyone is doing well, I'm just about to let the rabbits out

            Re: 28th May

            Greetings folks,

Not as hot today, thank goodness!
We had a 1 minute long downpour last night, came out of nowhere. Still dry here, my lawn is brown & crispy.
We may have more rain tonight, at least I hope so.

PQ, sorry about the tooth, ouch! I hope you get some relief soon.
That First FRiday event definitely needs better vendors but I don’t see people wanting to spend money there so it won’t be me, haha. My grandson is hoping to get a table there next month to sell some things he’s making with his 3D printer. Kids these days are very resourceful.

Cyn, our first apartment had a balcony, 3rd floor. Unfortunately is faced railroad tracks so sitting out there wasn’t real special. Haha. Enjoy yours
I’m kinda surprised the husband & son have given up their beers. Neither were ever heavy drinkers but they both seemed to have slowed way down. I’m OK with that knowing all I know now.

Mick, glad you enjoyed the bands so much. I love them too & seeing happy people all around.
Enjoy your nice weather & send it my way when you can.

Pie, hope yuo are OK, thinking of you

Slo, Ihope the wedding was wonderful today.

Have a nice night all. It’s 8 pm & time to put those chickpigs to bed haha!

              Re: 28th May

              Mae all -

Not too much happening around here - I did spend a few hours taking my somewhat-special-needs cousin to a Library sale, then to lunch and to 2 stores for her to get some things for herself... I wondered why we were hot and tired... well, I finally saw that it was 90 degrees out! So just staying in and cool this evening. That is a crazy high temp for early June... I'm afraid for our future if this continues to be the norm. On the plus side, we did have some big storms come through - lots of wind, and rain - but not really the "soaking" kind that we need... but at least something.

Lav, hoping your raindrops amounted to something to help the grass! How are the pig-chickens? I think your boys are great to cut back -- that's definitely not the way that this culture usually works... that's a testament to them (and you!)

SLO - how did the wedding go? Here's hoping that everyone behaved themselves

PPQ - I know it's nowhere near you, but the Nova Scotia fires are absolutely terrifying - how will they get 20,000 off of those islands? Truly frightening...

Pie - you are in my heart -

Mick - I had such a good time watching the videos of the Band competition... it was so great to see all the people enjoying the whole thing... and it seemed like it went on forever! The video started in daylight, then you could tell the afternoon came, then dusk, then nighttime! "And the bands played on!" Wow - all that and a 7-mile hike too - how wonderful. I really can't think of a place in the US where you could have a day like that... so glad you enjoyed.

Well, I may go outside for a little walk, now that it's merely 84 degrees...

              Wishing all well -

                Re: 28th May

MAE everyone - I recognize some names here but not all, so I'll briefly intro myself as a newcomer from the Newbie's Nest. We will hopefully see an influx of Nesters joining this thread as we're starting to close that thread down and join more active thread communities. Lav and NoSugar suggested this one, so here I am!

I'll be celebrating my 7-year sober-versary this coming July, and my quit is the most valuable thing I own. I live in the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S. and we are heading into a lovely week of late-spring/early summer weather. I'm a self-employed tutor and coach, working almost exclusively online these days. I love my work and am grateful about that. I look forward to getting to know all of you!
