Wags, there?s a tremendous amount of free stuff on This Naked Mind, which is how I came to first learn of them, and continue to consume. Then I bought the book. Most recently, I signed up for the class, Live Naked AF. (Live is a verb, and AF stands for Alcohol Free, though the other meaning could be true too.
The first month?s module is "How to Tame the Voice in Your Head and Find Peace". Second month module will be, ?Claim Your Power with 6 POWERFUL lessons that will teach you how to identify and fix the "Power Leaks" that are draining your energy and holding you back.?

I?m very pleased so far. This sort of coaching is probably what I needed back in 2019, when returning to drinking seemed a good idea. Anyway, hope this answers your question, and thanks for asking. Gave me an opening to elaborate a bit.

Hi Slo, The Path is maybe the best known/most popular program. If I were just starting out, and needing to get free from alcohol, or even AF, but miserable about it, I?d have selected The Path. The program I chose is Live Naked AF. See more in my reply to Wags.

Yuck, Sam! Glad the rat traps are working.

Lav, all the Annie Grace stuff is virtual/online.

PQ! Siri is my most helpful helper! I think? Now you?ve got me wondering?

Mick, love the birdseed story! Best laid plans ?

Hi TG!

Gotta run. Molly Maids due today so some prep is in order.

Re: 18th June .

Greetings friends,

We had clouds all day with a haze but no rain. That arrives tomorrow & is supposed to go off & on for a solid week!!! I guess the drought will be officially over then. Not sure how I’m going to keep the feral kitties dry but I will certainly try. I already have the cat house wrapped in plastic but they do venture out onto the deck sometimes.

Beautiful picture Mick, looks like a postcard. Glad the rain isn’t interfering with your daily activities.
We have a lot of trouble with planting seeds and bulbs around here. The dog & the cats dig everything up, the squirrels get what’s left haha! Then the rain washes away & disturbs things like grass seed, oh well. Take it easy & don’t eat any more rocks.

Pie, glad you found a program that speaks to you, that’s great! I have to be truly interested in something in order to stick with it myself. Stay safe & cool in that hot weather.

Wags, sometimes it’s hard to know when to relax after a lengthy period of stress. You’ve done great for your Dad & for yourself. You can breathe easy now

Slo, I’m so happy you’re getting good grand kid time, it’s the best! I’m missing my little buddies but they’ve grown up. It happened SO fast. Enjoy every minute with them. I really like the gray kitty with blue eyes too but I can’t keep him/her, too many cats in the house now haha.

Cyn, sounds like you have a hard core case of monkey mind, Lol. Keep doing what you’re doing, you will get there. Glad you ordered the B12, it should help quite a bit. We need to drink a LOT of H20 daily to flush histamines out of the body. Water seems to be good for a lot of things.

PQ, snow warning? Seriously? UGH! I hope it stays far far away from you.
You need to set some harsh rules before next year’s community clean up & prevent the return of the creepy lady & metal collectors. A lot of people around here offer to come pick up unwanted metal for ‘free’. I know full well they’re making a living on doing that haha. Get that boss straightened out soon so yo don’t have to hit him or anything haha!

Hello to anyone else dropping in tonight & wishing everyone a nice night!

MAE ALL...even though the boss left at noon, had a stakeholder meeting to attend, it still felt like a hectic day. Seems the minute I finish a project and have some time to catch up the rental requests start flowing in. Geeze, this was supposed to be a quiet catch up week.

It's been raining all day but I'm glad it isn't snow since we only hit 5C/41F. My son getting a job is a double edged sword. Since he's using my car I end up going in early and leaving late. That in itself isn't bad but I don't get out during the day to pick up supplies/lunch.

Sorry for not responding to each of you, I'm a little tired right now. Sounds like everyone's doing ok and I'll catch up with you all soon. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

Mick - where is that beautiful pic from??? Wow, you're in gorgeous country! Glad to hear you're enjoying it and your folding bikes sound perfect.

Pi - thanks for the additional info about the class. I'll mosey over to the website and check things out.

PQ - hope you get a chance to catch your breath sometime this week.

Lav - at least you were 100% sober while your grandkids were young. Even though they grew up fast, you were present and sober for every year, every visit, every milestone. Such a great gift of time and experiences you gave yourself and them!

Hellos and waves Slo, TG, and everybody else - see you tomorrow!

Good morning all how are we doing today?hope all is well we move on today, down to lake Bala, a place called Pen y bont bit overcast atm but the forecast looks good .I saw a bird called a Jay,they were almost wiped out but seem to be on the road to recovery 20230620_142756.jpg
Hiya ppqp how are you doing today?hope you aren't as tired today. Yep rain over snow every time

Hiya wags, how are you today then? Hope all is well with both you and your dad. That picture was taken at the Lake next to the camp site at Llanberis.

Hiya lav how are you doing today then? Hope all is well. Sounds like you have animal issues as well with the garden! No rain here either today, in fact it is supposed to be really nice for the next three days. The same over here as well, that are lots of people picking up unwanted scrap come on I've nothing against them making a living from it at least they aren't sponging and are doing a bit for the environment as well. I've often wondered why when you go to a farm or see farmers they have stacks and stacks of broken unused machinery lying about that will never be used again. Not only would it be environmentally friendly to recycle it but also financially beneficial. Take care have a great day

Hiya pie sf,slo,tg,sam hope you are all doing well

Re: 18th June .

Hi, Folks

A week at Disney World was tiring but a lot of fun. It was very hot (90s F) so we spent the afternoons in the condo inside or at the pool. There was definitely no room for booze at any time so I'm really glad that monkey wasn't on my back. At Epcot they have a thing where you "drink around the world". You have a tee shirt with the countries and drinks listed and a marker you use to check each off after you go to that 'country' and have the drink. Aside from being ridiculously expensive, the whole thing seemed sad to me. It is a shame that alcohol plays such a key role in all of our societies.

I've been thinking of you, Pie, as I read about the heat dome over TX. What general part of the state do you live in? I have friends in Houston and they are suffering. I hope your power grid holds!

I'm glad to see you're still around, Sam. I enjoyed the political conversations we used to have. Sadly, many of the issues we agreed on have not improved and/or have worsened. This is a tough time for our country.

The idea of having Siri read these posts made me laugh! If someone who didn't know what this site was overheard the reading, they would be so confused about what is going on :haha:

I'm glad to be back and will try to be more responsive in future posts. Have a great day!!

Good evening friends,

Well it’s definitely damp here as it will be for the next week or so. No more complaining about drought I guess haha!
I am currently trying to keep mama cat & 3 kittens dry on my deck - so far so good. Temp will dip into the 50’s tonight, strange for the first day of summer, right? I did meet an old work friend for lunch, only see her 2X/year. She winters in FL now with the rest of the snowbirds.

NS, welcome back & I imagine you would be tired after the Disney trip. Just so the kids had a god time, that’s what matters.
Disney likely thinks they’re entertaining the adults with the drinking T shirt - how dumb & unnecessary in this day & age.
I’m gearing up for the Sept 30 craft festival, there will be 98 of us vendors there this year, wow! Do yuo have any projects going on? Haven’t heard from Byrdie lately, I’ll have to give her a shout.

Mick, I hope the lake site is nice
We have plenty of blue jays around here, similar to what you saw I think. They are real bullies at the bird feeders haha!
Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Wags, I do feel extremely grateful to have been totally present for the grandkids. I just remembered thinking if I didn’t quit then I would never have been able to forgive myself. I definitely made the right decision hope your day has been a good one.

PQ, I absolutely hate being without my wheels. I really have a thing about that, Lol
I hope your son can get himself a car asap so you don’t feel trapped at work. Maybe the boss needs to provide a ‘company car’ for you & others to use while at work!!

Hello to Cyn, Slo & anyone else stopping in tonight. Have a nice night all!

Mae all -

A quick post first to get in done before I get kicked off the site, which happens if I linger... then I'll go back and look at the pics!

PPQ - you are always handling a lot... and sharing a car?! Amazing. I hope you are getting some rest after all the extra hours... take care ...

SLO - hoping that your knee(s) are doing well. I have a a very sore wrist (probably from overdoing some work on the Homeless meals team... I made a repeated action for about 2 hours... not smart... I wonder if the Voltaren that you use might help me... we'll see.

Lav, wow getting ready for a show with over 90 vendors? Sounds like you'll have a good crowd to sell too - I'm glad the kittens are getting you outside once and awhile (wink)... I started taking a b vit complex while waiting for the B12, and already that, and bumping up water (which I've done for a week or so) seems to be helping, yay. And doing one thing at a time. A better way to live...

Mick, I can't wait to look at your pics... the countryside sounds magical. PS - for some reason I ended up on a site that had pictures of the ?Wallace castle... holy cow, what a structure - I can't imagine how it was built! And also thought of you when I saw a pic of the 8- ft statue of King Arthur at Tintagel. That's a destination for me, absolutely. (was also searching Fell pony treks.... well, anyway I can dream...)

Pi - I really like Annie Grace, no bullshit. I follow other online sobriety sites, but she's the first I really liked... I have both her books. Good luck and have fun!

Wags - hope you continue to feel refreshed... sounds like you've been through a lot.

NoSugar - yep, the AL industry is determined to get everyone hooked. It is evil, and clearly targeting women... I wish we had more voices saying "this is ridiculous!" Hope the rest of your trip is fun...

Good wishes to all (sorry if I skipped anyone...)
Cheers,
TG

Re: 18th June .

MAE ALL...a very long day. In early to set up for an event (boss was in earlier than me for a 6:30am board meeting) that ended up being cancelled as the facilitator called in sick! Then a set up for a celebration of life in the afternoon which of course ran late. Boss and I took it down about 5:30pm. All in all a 10hr day. Boss and I had a long talk about things in general and he recognizes that things have to change. One thought was to close at noon on Fridays during the summer so he and I can have some time off. Another thought was to have the part time facility staff work some days so we can take days off. Strange how all his suggestions included himself. LOL Our year end is Aug 31st and I'm expecting a raise and bonus, will keep you posted.

Mick...the pic from yesterday was picture perfect. How peaceful. Glad the forecast for your stay at Bala looks good. We actually saw sun today! Hope you're having a great time.

Wags...I think the rest of the week will be quiet, ssh! I didn't say that. Planning on putting a dent in the Fall Program schedule next.

NS...welcome back, glad the trip was a success. I wouldn't have been able to handle those temps, indoors & pool would be my solution too. It's amazing how many events are geared around drinking. I was guilty of it too in my day. If it didn't say "beer gardens" or "adult beverages" I wasn't interested. LOL

Lav...your turn for the cold wet weather, my turn for the dry hot weather. Does your friend that winters in FL play pickleball? Those booking our tennis courts for pickleball have just gone crazy. I knew there was a time and place where saying "Sorry, we had a system upgrade and lost your booking." would be a good thing. LOL Son just announced that they (the company) has offered him a different position at work, Warehouse Manager. Guess they fired the current one this morning before everyone showed up. Don't know if he'll take it but I'd be happy with him staying in town as opposed to the oil sands up north. We'll figure out the car thing eventually. The craft sale registration program is up and running, all returning vendors have been notified and are registering. I can now open it up to the general public.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

Hola,

What a beautiful day we’ve had! I love Summer! And today is the Summer Solstice! And I need to think of it as just that, and no longer as my wedding anniversary from the defunct marriage.

When we would go to Disney World, then Epcot back then would sponsor a kid’s go around to all the countries and do a craft related to each country and get your “passport” stamped. The girls loved it. That is icky to think that now it is for adults to go around to all the countries and have a drink and get your shirt checked-marked!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

PQ, you are definitely the boss’s right hand woman, so you should see that reflected in a raise. Friday afternoons off would be cool. Yeah, interesting that he expects to be off when you’re off too! What about the receptionist idea?

TQ, I guess with the staggering amount of food prep that you do for the homeless meal, then you have realized that the jobs have to be rotated during the food prep hours to avoid repetitive motion injuries.

Mick, that scenic photo that you took near your campsite was shockingly beautiful!

Pie, I’m out of touch with Annie Grace lately, and didn’t realize that she started yet another online recovery group. I remember when The Path was the new one. I did her very first online group class; 30-Day Challenge or something like that.

Say, maybe we could move our thread next week and hereafter to the “General” area instead of Monthly Abstinence area. available is having a hard time finding us here.

Wishing everyone a good night.

Happy Solstice everybody!!!

NS - welcome back! That Epcot drinking shirt is sad, but I bet it's also popular. If there is intelligent life on other planets, they will be (or already are) astonished at how much humanity here embraces poisoning ourselves.

Slo - fine with me if we move this thread, but I'm a newbie here so totally game to let the long-timers decide. It would be wonderful to have available in the conversation!

PQ - knock on wood quick that your week is quiet for the remainder.

Lav - you made the best decision ever when you quit drinking, and so did all of us, even if some/most/all of us had to decide several times before it stuck.

Good day here. When I went to visit my dad, he was out in the dining area eating lunch with his neighbors on either side. I think that's only the second meal he has eaten away from his room, so a pretty big deal! He wasn't as alert/oriented today as he was this past Sunday, but I think we all have better/worse days so not a real concern. I'm so happy he's safe and comfortable I could cry. My goal is to take a week in July when my wife and I can get out of town for at least 2-3 days and I won't visit for the whole week. I need the break and he'll be fine.

I can't imagine navigating ANY of these past 10-12 weeks while still drinking, but I'm super grateful my quit is as solid as it is, cuz there were definitely times I wanted to escape all of this.

Hellos and waves to Mick, TG, Pie, and everyone else!
