Mae all...How's everyone today then?hope all is good. Decent run down to Lake Bala yesterday..roads were a bit narrow in places but no big deal. Nice little site we are on at Pen y Bont. About 2 mins from the Lake .watched an RAF airbus flying over yesterday and also some fighter jets.they use the valleys to practice low level flying. But most of all..guess what is right next to us....

A little beauty all on his own

Hiya wags..well the druids at Stonehenge enjoyed the solstice. We know that feeling of relief believe me.this holiday is the first we have had in 6 years where the worry has been there about Julie's dad being cared for. I know exactly what you are going through..so enjoy that holiday.

Hiya Slo how are we doing then?hope all is well. Glad you liked the pic..here is another of lake Bala this time

    20230621_151834.jpg

I have no issues where we move the thread to .tell available to write to bennys complaints department..she will know what you mean. .long standing joke between us Seriously I have no problems with moving the Fred. I am not sure how to do it..so if there is anyone techie out there. .

Hiya ppqp how are you doing?glad all is well.congrats to son on job .yes the boss probably has a dose of me syndrome I want some of it as well. It matters not as long as you get what you want out of it plus the financial reward for the extra work. You work to live not liveto work, but you already know that. Glad that the Sun made an appearance

Hiya teegee how are you doing? Wow you could not have chosen two places further apart if you had tried. The Wallace Monument is Sterling Castle and King Arthur's Castle is the other end of the country. It is a nice place to visit Cornwall has some lovely scenery as well. Never stop chasing those dreams! You never know hope you have a great day

Hiya ns. Welcome back. I remember the Epcot Center very well I think we've been six times now in total, the first time we went Amy was just a toddler, the next time she had her first boyfriend and his name was on one of the plaques in the park so she spent the whole time looking for that I must confess also that I was part of the getting a beer from every country gang! However the last twice we went I wasn't drinking at all and to be honest with you it didn't make a difference. On the English Village style in at cot when I was last there and met a guy who I knew from Wigan, he was serving fish and chips so we had a massive portion each! You are right so everything nowadays seems to be alcohol related and fueled whether it be filmed and verbs anything like that full stop you take care and have some time to yourself!

Hiya lav how are you today then question mark hope all is doing well with the cat family. No rain in at all door the forecast has be thunderstorms and all sorts of things. We are going on the little Railway that goes around lake Bala today, I think tomorrow we are either kayaking or paddle boarding not sure Julie wants to do paddle boarding it is all weather dependent. I have some little robins around where the van is parked up, who are quite tame, so I am feeding them. Byrdie is doing ok we speak/message regularly hope you have a good one

Hiya pie and sf hope all is well

        Re: 18th June .

Finally catching up w/ my life after time away. So much little stuff to attend to.

I'm envious of those of you with rain. Apparently it did rain while I was gone and everything is very crispy. Looks more like August than June.

Slo, 6/21 is our anniversary, also. I'm glad it has another meaning that you can focus on. It always makes me a little sad b/c the days are now getting shorter. I just have to remember that we'll have long days for a couple more months.

Your photos are beautiful, Mick. What a nice place to be on vacation. You sure have been to WDW often given that you live far away! We used to go for a day or 2 quite often when we visited my grandparents who lived in Florida. It has been interesting to see how it has changed from when I was a kid to when our kids were kids and now.

Good luck getting ready for the craft show, Lav. I've been working on a quilt for our bed and a wall hanging for the family room. I had the bed quilt quilted by a woman with a longarm machine but I'll do the actual quilting on the wall hanging. It is a large-scale geometric design using solid color fabrics (which is unusual for me) will have 3 panels (which I've never done before). I guess we need to keep trying new things!

Wags, I'm so glad that the constant worry about your dad is abating. You are so fortunate to have found a place where you know he is getting good care. Sadly, that isn't the case in many care homes.

TG, how does your Meals program work? We have a soup kitchen here and I would love to volunteer there but I'm busy enough that it is tough to commit to a specific day/time so I generally do more flexible volunteer work.

PQ, I had an unexpected and unpleasant job elimination experience at the end of last year after 32 years with the organization. Once I was past the shock and hurt and had had some time unemployed, I looked back and realized how foolish it was for me to push myself past reasonable limits to meet some unreasonable expectations. I'm not suggesting that people slack off but I do wish I hadn't thought everything to be so important. I hope you at least get the bonus and raise you deserve.

          morning all
4 rats yesterday, 2 more today, way I figure it my total count since starting this rat campaign is close to 40. I'm pretty certain that ain't all yet.

thank goodness for a soaking couple of days of rain!

          enjoyed your pictures, Mick.

hope everyone is well, enjoyed reading posts from all

            Re: 18th June .

            Greeting folks,

I just realized suddenly there’s too many people to respond to on an individual basis my attention span is already pretty stretched haha!!
Zero sun today but no rain - yet. I think it will start again overnight tonight. The feral cat Penny took her kids off of the deck today, now I don’t know where they are, hope they make it back before it gets dark. Who knows?

Cyn, yep I use the Voltaren on my achy parts too, give it a try.
That particular craft show was big last year. Now it will be even bigger this year & definitely draws a huge crowd. Take it easy, please.

PQ, that particular friend I mentioned does not play pickle ball but I have other friends currently living in FL who do play. They go kayaking too.
I hope that Aug 31 raise is a good one, you certainly deserve one. Maybe you do need your own personal secretary at work, good thought

Slo, glad you’re enjoying nice weather, you can send it this way soon.
Sorry about the anniversary reminder. We have a big one coming up on the 30th & neither one of us seem to be over excited. That’s just the way it goes I guess after 50 years haha.

Wags, good that your Dad is doing OK in his new place. So where do you think you’ll go on your trip?

Mick, glad your weather is holding up for you
I did see your FB pics, very nice. Don’t go bringing any rabbits home & upsetting the peace you have created with the other two, Lol

NS, love the quilt ideas. I’ve never taken the time to learn quilting, maybe in my next lifetime. I have a friend with a longarm machine. She moved it with her from PA to FL but she spends summers in MA now so it sits unused half the year. She does a lot of quilts for charities.
            Good luck with your quilts.

Sam, 40 rats, UGH!. Glad you’re getting them but geez.
I imagine the farmers around here were quite worried about the lack of rain but we’re slowly catching up now. What are you growing this year?

Hello to anyone else popping in tonight & hope we all have a nice night!

Mae all how are we doing today then?tgif I suspect for some had a lovely day out yesterday. Went around the lake in the little train.really enjoyable. At5 this morning I was watching a farmer rounding up his sheep using his dogs..listening to him commanding them in Welsh .my little rabbit is at the side of the van.

Hiya Sam, well done on shifting the rats ..keep up the good work mate.

Hiya ns,nice to hear from you hope all is well yes we noticed the difference over the years with wdw.our last planned time was May2020,we were booked and paid up,and going to meet up with Byrdie, but covid knocked it all on the head. That's when we bought the motor home and decided to do that instead. No regrets.hope you have a good weekend.

Hi lav, firstly your embroidery is absolutely brilliant. So bright and well made .nope won't take any rabbits home though he is the only one I have seen.i think he is a survivor .I've got an appointment with the dentist 17.30 on Monday. Hope you have a good weekend. I use voltarol.. a variation I guess

Hiya wags how are you doing?how is your dad?have a chilled weekend

Hiya pie, ppqp, sf and any others looking in

                      Greetings from damp-land haha!
We’ve had an inch so far & it’s not done yet! Had some thunder this afternoon too. I managed to fill up a whole day just doing things around the house & a bit of cooking, nothing special.

Wags, hope you roll into a relaxing weekend

Mick, it sounds like your trip is going well, that’s great. Maybe your bunny buddy is lonely & could use a good home.
I have focused on kid’s embroidery designs for the past 5+ years so to me that means lots of bright colors & fun fabrics. Anything to get them interested in reading at a young age

NS, hope you got caught up on errands. I’ll be happy to send some rain right out for you. Our lawns were extremely brown & crispy too.

Sam, does a tail count as a kill??? Haha!! I really hope you get the rest of the gang soon.

I’ll check back later to see who else stopped in - Cyn, Slo, PQ & everyone.
                      Have a nice night all!

                        Re: 18th June .

MAE ALL…I did post yesterday as it was a nice quiet day, the kind I was hoping for all week. Got 2 more fall programs to upload and then that jobs done. It’s looking good to maybe take some time off next week.

Slo…thinking of the 21st as summer solstice is a great mind change. I have never been to Disney World and with the cost of everything now I probably will never go. LOL What a great idea of the kid’s passport and crafts. Somebody was thinking. We’ve decided to hold off on the receptionist idea until we’ve merged 3 Customer Relationship Management programs into 1 new one. No sense training someone just to do it all over again in a couple of months.

Wags…thanks for the knock on Wednesday, it worked. LOL Great to hear about your Dad, it IS A BIG DEAL and those of us who have dealt with aging parents know. A great goal for July, I’m sure you both need the break. Sounds like you do have a solid quit. Well done. Took me a minute to figure out what TGIAFF stood for, but I got it.

Mick…I think you’re just a rabbit magnet, they just know. Lake Bala looks picturesque as well, glad you’re having good weather. About the thread, I would always log on and then scroll down past Introduction and General Discussion Threads now the Our Story, Our Goals is first. When did that happen? I think moving the thread would be an admin job. The boss has shared quite a bit about his feelings towards the accountant, and I’m glad he has. He is definitely on the same page as the rest of us as far as she goes. LOL Great pics, going around the lake in a train sounded like a lovely trip.

NS…it’s the little stuff that takes up so much time isn’t it. We had a hot, sunny day today and now some very dark clouds are moving in. Could be a great thunderstorm tonight. I love them. 32 years wow! I’ve had 2 other jobs in my lifetime each lasting 10 years, going on 11 years in the current one. This one was a life saver for me after a very scary divorce from my manic/depressive ex. I love the customer service aspect of it, making sure the renters’ events are as perfect as they can be. The rest of it I don’t lose sleep over anymore. LOL Hope you got all your errands done today.

Sam…it’s so nice to have you popping in again. 40 and you think there’s more! Only 1 trap tripped today, maybe you got them all. LOL

Lav…be careful what you wish for eh? Kept yourself busy around the house a I bet it was a bit more than a bit of cooking. I love the new pillow designs you’ve come up with. I agree with the idea of getting kids interested in reading at a young age, it was the best thing my Mom did for me. I can just hear the rain starting and I hope we have a great thunderstorm.

Pi…hope you had a good day.

Time to decide what to have for dinner. Have a peaceful night all...:smile:PPQP

                          Re: 18th June .

                          MAE on Friday:

I had a nice day; was able to get my hair cut -thankfully my stylist was still there despite being greatly pregnant! Then attended a class on Posture & Movement (Gokhale Method) in an effort to indirectly heal my sacral area back pain/nerve damage and maybe reduce pain in my knee. It was worthwhile. Then visited my mother and ran an errand with her and then went out to dinner with her. So that was nice! I can enjoy her now in her senior years when she isn’t so full of herself and isn’t rejecting me.

I don’t think we had better move the thread to the General section, because the Army is having trouble there with their posts not showing up until much later, and they’re wondering if it’s a problem with the General section.
Plus, why can’t Ava find our thread? I see it listed way up top, 2nd or 3rd in the lineup of sections.

Still beautiful, dry and hot weather here! My air conditioner is on, and my sprinklers are running.

Mick, I like the joke about “enjoying” life with no cell phones!
What a relief that you can finally vacation without worrying about Julie’s dad, and soon Wags can get away for a little getaway without worrying about her dad too!

NS, that was a great explanation about…realizing that you wish you hadn’t bothered with overworking for unreasonable expectations in your job. PQ is getting good at keeping boundaries at work too.

Sam, ick! When you catch a rat with no tail, you’ll know who it is!

                          Good night, all.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

                            Mae all,

So good to hear how all are doing...

Lav, send some rain to the midwest, will you? We are parched here... actually it is now acknowledged as Drought territory. The real concern is in the western part of the state, where they can't grow their crops anymore... very scary for our country if the "breadbasket" states can't produce...

Mick, I look forward to your pics! (will check them after posting) I stumbled across the May 2023 end of the Singer of Wales contest - it was the whole audience singing with the orchestra - thrilling, just like the videos that you linked. I know that the two things I mentioned are far away from one another! They both just caught my eye. I've hiked quite a bit of the Cornish coast, but started further down the coast than Tintagel... would love to see that statue... also thinking how I can get over there and do a Welsh pony trek in the Lake District... ah well, I can dream. So glad that you two have the time now to enjoy yourselves, well deserved.

Same to you Wags - well deserved time off for all you concern and hard work taking care of your dad...

PPQ - you are a stawart worker! You really put yourself into your job - they are so lucky to have you!

Slo - so glad that you had a good time and your mom behaved... there's a Win for you...

Sam - wow, dozens and dozens of rats... let's hope you've caught the last one - gracious sakes! (as my grandmother used to say)

Pie, NS and all dropping by... wishing you well -
PS - I'm hoping we can keep the thread where it is... when things move, sometimes the energy is lost... just saying...

I am doing a low-histamine diet - did I say that a few days ago? I think it may be helping... I did not wake up with a killer headache today, so that's progress. And adding so many fresh herbs and using such simple ingredients is a real pleasure... I hope it continues.

                            May we be well -

                              Re: 18th June .

PQ - glad you got some quiet days or partial days this past week, and hope the time off next week pans out for you!

Mick - seems like you're having a great trip, seeing so many beautiful places and even a rabbit visitor. Seeing your pics has sparked my interest in visiting that part of the world. I totally understand what you said about not being able to travel without worry/stress for years because of Julie's dad. Same with me & my wife regarding my dad. I'm excited to get away for even a few days in July.

Lav - glad you're getting some badly needed rain. I love what you're doing to help get kids interested in reading. I agree with the others who have said it's one of the most important things a kid can learn to do and love. For our July trip we probably won't go too far away. We are within 60-90 mins of the Pacific coast and the Cascade mountains and several other beautiful forest areas, so we're probably going to rent a little cabin in one of those areas and just go hiking and relax in nature. I've found 3-4 options that all sound amazing and restorative.

Slo - hooray for getting a haircut AND having such a nice visit with your mom. I'm intrigued by the posture class you mentioned. I have terrible SI joint pain in addition to arthritis and disc issues throughout my spine, so I'm going to check out this Gokhale method and see if it might be helpful for me. Thanks for mentioning it!

TG - what kinds of things comprise a low-histamine diet? Is it similar to an anti-inflammatory diet? I hope it gives you some positive results.

Sounds like some potential problems if we move our thread to the General area - maybe we can just reach out to Ava and help her find an easy way to connect with us. Like one of us could post the html link to the new thread in the Nest once it gets started by Mick or whomever each Sunday. That way she'd just continue to go to the nest but a recent post would link her directly to the new week of abbers? I'll start doing that and tagging her and the other nest regulars and see if it helps her/them.

Hellos and waves to Pie, NS, Sam, and everyone stopping by to read and/or post. Hope your weekends are fab!
