    Re: 2 July

    Mae all -

Sorry to be away...honestly, this week I have gotten all messed up with what day it was... it happens when you live alone... hard to keep track...

Glad to hear everyone survived the holiday... i am not a fan of Fireworks, so the day before, day of, and the day after explosions were more than enough for me. Wags, good job protecting your pooch - Lav, so sorry for the escapees - glad you could get everyone back home. Dear me.

Wags - bravo for you to be such an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. I taught for many years, and seeing the growth in students is just so satisfying. I'm glad you're still taking people on -- they are lucky to have you prepare them for the tests -

Pi - you are so kind with your comments; I forgot that people might read other parts of the website... It is a labor of love that I am trying to get myself back to... I took almost 2 years off... hey, SO GLAD that you had rain!

SLO - so sorry about the disappointments of the holiday - sounds like you are crafting a healthy response to all that. So glad to hear that you might be making some new friends! Sad about your twin... maybe some day she will see the light - before too late -- Hang in there - you are creating a wonderful new life!

    hello to you, Steady!

PPQ - I hope you get the car situation solved soon - sounds like you have good options. Good that one of your "problem" coworkers will be out of the office for a time - yay. Here's an idea for you: I walked into a docs office and saw all these little felted llamas sitting around... I asked why, and they said "oh - those are the no-drama-llamas! LOL

Lav - what a story about the fireworks - totally irresponsible. I think the selling of fireworks should be licensed somehow - or you can't buy them unless you've take a class. I know - there would be mutiny - ah well, I can dream. Actually, I wish they would just go with laser-light shows... so much easier on animals and humans... And hey - I'd love that blueberyy recipe... all the ones I've seen are full of sugar... Good Luck with the hear, sorry. And glad you are protecting yourself and the machines when you're working...

Mick - Ken! I understood what you wrote. And I loved the website with the words and the pronunciation (by the way PPQ - your weather that rainy day could be described as a "dreich" day in Scottish. And the word sounds perfect for what it describes! Mick, I stumbled on to a FB post by Iain Robertson "Rambles", and he was just finishing up the end of the West Highland Way (which sounds loooooong). He was coming over the final ridge, looking down into the valley and the town and said that he "almost got totes emosh..." I love that!

I had a very weird, slightly scary thing go on with my (new-to-me) car two days ago - basically not shifting out of first, shaking, rattling... eeeek. Went home and turned it off and tried to figure out what to do. Was taking the bus to the places I had to go (which I like to do anyway - my little bit of environmentalism...). But finally this morning, I bucked up and got my courage together and took it out to see if I could even drive it to a service place. And it seems perfectly okay! huh? So... at least I can now get it back to the dealer 30 miles away so that it can be checked. Was struggling to figure out how all that would work. Sigh.

Wishing all well and good - be safe all (and congrats on 11 years, Mick!)

      TGIF y?all!
Photo is of a 1989 wagon I?ve been restoring. Looked okay when I bought it off of Craigslist, but a wheel disintegrated and fell off almost immediately. One thing lead to another? After much googling and many YouTube videos, I was able to get her rolling again. I learned how to cut off rusted nuts and bolts with my Dremel, and repair a rusted through hole in the bed. Though initially quite irritating, this project gave me SO much pleasure! Just sharing.

        Re: 2 July

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing well. We did have rain but that has now disappeared and we have sunshine and the temperature of 33 degrees at present so it is pretty hot for stop I have been in the garden this morning moving crocosmia, and the butterfly bush trimming back the laurel bush. After that I took the kitchen shelves down sanded them back to original wood and stained and polished them. Please excuse any mistakes grammatical or spelling wise as at the moment I am using my phone. We go away on Monday just look to the forecast and yes I was right it is going to pour down with rain. Julie's dad is doing okay again, we got a call from the head cheese at the hospital after Julie puts a complaint in about waiting for the transport. Really interesting, considering it is about patient care welfare and helping people to get better, there was not too much mention of that full stop it was more about we are very sorry obviously we missed our performance target which is by the way to collect 90% of the patients within 90 minutes strangely enough that is no mention of the other 10%! Another roll that could be dispensed with and put troops on the ground so to speak, I am sorry I have not addressed everyone individually, but it is a pain to do it on this phone for stop but I do read every single post. Hope you all have a great weekend stay safe sane and sober

          Re: 2 July

Good evening friends on this 3rd day of the heatwave, ugh.
This weather literally makes me feel sick, I’m a winter kid I guess being born in December. Too late to change my ways now.

PQ, sounds like you’re running the gambit with weather too. I have to believe we have destroyed way too much of the earth & now we’re paying.
I hope your quiet days at work continue for the rest of the summer, you certainly deserve that much
Good luck with the car shopping!!

Cyn, you are not the only one losing track of days - I check my phone multiple times each day to be sure I’m not missing anything haha.
The neighbors have been seriously quiet since their holiday blowout. I feel sorry for all the animals, they have a dog too.
The problem with living in cow country is we have no local PD so there’s no one to call to address these annoying problems. The State Troopers are not interested in neighbor conflicts. Basically almost everyone around here likes to blow up stuff & shoot guns all year long & they have no one stopping them.
I’ve been enjoying your website updates too, thank you

Pie, awesome job on the wagon, looks great!!
Are thinking about selling it or is it just for you?

Mick, all the hospitals over here are run like businesses now. Patient care used to be the #1 concern, not any more. It’s all about the $$ at the end of the day. Staying OUT of the hospital is my #1 goal.
I hope the rain ends soon so you can enjoy your next trip. Have fun!

Hello to NS, Slo, Sam, Kensho & whoever else drops by tonight.
My allergies are not quite as bad today but I’m still styaing inside as much as possible. Feeling like a bit of a prisoner.
          Have a nice night all!

            Re: 2 July

MAE ALL...I left a 1/2 hour early today. YAY Son left work early so I asked the boss if I could go early and he said sure. Told him I would log it as TIL taken and he said nope, just go enjoy the weekend.

TG...no drama Llamas :biglaugh: Love it. It is scary when things go wrong with your car. I'm glad it smartened up for you and that the checkup shows something simple.

Pi...thanks for sharing. I just love the little projects you get into. Makes me think there's hope for me yet.

Mick...that is really hot for you, got that noggin covered? Hope it didn't turn into a pop up thunderstorm. That's what's been happening here. Hot during the day and and then everything bubbles up to a thunderstorm. This will probably go on for the entire 10 days of Stampede, that's the norm. You are always finding something to do, didn't the kitchen cupboards get a makeover recently? Missed our performance target of 90% in 90 minutes. WTH Yeah, what about the other 10%. Unbelievable. Glad Julie's Dad is doing ok again and that you're able to get away on Monday worry free.

Lav...I see your light is on but I've learned not to wait around for you. Too busy gabbing on other threads. LOL

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

X-post Lav...I knew it. Yup, mother nature isn't happy with us. Staying out of the hospital is my #1 goal too. LOL

              Re: 2 July

              Mae all -

Good Friday night to you --

Mick, I had the same question as PPQ - didn't you just work on those cupboards? Or maybe you painted the outside and now sanded the shelves? Anyway, awesome job of being productive, as always. Hoping that the weather holds through the weekend and that you can get going on Monday - crossing fingers!

Lav - uuugh, 3rd day of a heat wave. Up until this week, all of June and July were around the 90s - it was a shock - felt like August, not June. I'm afraid that we have to get used to this "new normal". Here's hoping that your allergies lessen in the coming days. Thanks so much for your kind words on the website "update"... I'm hoping that I"ll be brave enough to post more often than every 2 years! Sheesh!

Pi - when you said you were working on a wagon, I thought it was a 1980s car - Wagon... (I have to read most posts before logging in or I get bounced when I try to post... so I don't see the pics when I read through.) Anyway, adorable, and what a great project. And you and your Dremel... a girl's best friend (I love tools...)

PPQ - glad that the boss was good enough to not get all "official" about a leaving a little early... I should hope not! Sorry to hear about the weather - but sounds like it is always that way around Rodeo time? I hope you're making some progress on getting your own car... that will be great.

That's me done for tonight - except - when I was out for an evening walk, I heard a rush of wind - I looked up - and a blue heron went right over my head (high up, but still...) - what a thrill. I love those birds - so elegant, even though a little pre-historic looking... I felt very lucky...

Sending good wishes to all -
              TG

                Re: 2 July

                MAE everyone!

TG - I actually find it hard to remember what day it is even not living alone, but I can see how that would add to the challenge. Glad you got your car to at least drive/shift again and I hope it turns out to be no big deal.

Pi - LOVE your wagon! Congrats on fixing her up and learning to do new things in the process!

Not a lot of news here. I have taken on 2 of the 3 students referred to me by word-of-mouth, and I can see my schedule getting busier. The good news it's a short surge from now until mid-August, and then things will lighten up again. It's a good thing I like this kind of workload variability -- like interval training!

Hellos and waves to anyone else stopping in to catch up. Hope you all have fab weekends!

Lav - I fear you're right about how we've already damaged our home planet and environment too badly to change course or fix things in a meaningful way, and this massive planet-wide heatwave is partial evidence of that. Sigh - way too hot for me as well, and you have my sympathies.

Mick - glad Julie's dad is doing well again. Those of us in the U.S. totally understand frustrations with hospitals or other healthcare providers. Generally the people themselves are top notch and wanting/trying to provide good care, but the systems don't support them and/or there aren't enough staff to do everything well.

PQ - hooray for getting to go home early without any resistance from the boss! Hope that set your weekend off to a great start.

                  Re: 2 July

                  Good weekend morning!

D3 & her HB and baby Andy are here overnight! Yesterday we met at my little sister’s house, and went to their community pool for a bit with her youngsters. I’m glad they could see baby Andy.
Today we’re all supposed to go to my little brother’s house where my twin sister is, and go to the public beach out there with the teens and my sister. I hope the rain goes away soon.

It is blueberry-picking season! Looks like it might get away from me though, and I won’t get out to pick. Maybe I can get some at the farmers market. I do love berry season.

Sounds like the childcare director needs a felt llama, PQ! Or, you need to put some around your desk!
We got a great car once for D3 at a car auction.

                  A steam-driven telly? That’s a new one to me!

Love the lovingly restored wagon, Pie.

During a job interview yesterday I poured some water into a cup and it overflowed slightly. "Nervous?" asked the interviewer. I replied simply, "No, I always give 110%"!

A man sees a sign outside a house - 'Talking Dog For Sale.' He rings the bell, the owner appears and tells him the dog can be viewed in the back garden.
The man sees a very nice looking Labrador Retriever sitting there.
"Do you really talk?" he asks the dog.
                    "Yes," the Labrador replies.
After recovering from the shock of hearing the dog talk, he man asks, "So, tell me your story."
The Labrador looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the SAS.
"In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one imagined that a dog would be eavesdropping.
"I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years.
But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at Heathrow to do some undercover security work, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded several medals. I got married, had a few puppies, and now I've just retired."
The man is amazed. He goes back into the house and asks the owner how much he wants for the dog.
                    "Ten quid," the owner says.
"?10!!? But this dog is absolutely amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheaply?"
"Because he's a lying bstard. He's never been out of the garden!!.

                      Weekend greetings all!

Awaiting a thunderstorm - again. Getting a bit tiresome, haha! If these storms would just clear out the tropical humidity everything would be fine.

Mick, the talking dog story is hilarious. I also wouldn’t want to be called Tess Tickle HA HA!!!
Don’t overwork yourself, save some energy for your trip

Slo, enjoy the family company, sounds like fun.
Our blueberry bushes are almost done, we have many pounds of blueberries in the freezer, yum

Here’s that blueberry crumble I made: Ridiculously Easy Blueberry Crumble

Wags, I’m worried about the young people, my grandkids, etc. how are they going to survive living on this overheated planet? I hope we (as a nation) come to our damn senses soon.
I hope the new students meet your standards & let you have a break this summer

Cyn, we have those huge birds flying over once in a while too, they’re awesome.
Did I mention the sinus pressure that comes along with the heat & allergies? Haha, I’m a mess just waiting for Fall. Hope your weekend is easy.

PQ, you know me - while I’m reading & writing on this forum I’m also answering Messenger (friends & family). I’m the original multitasker haha.
Glad you got an early start to your weekend, get some rest too.

Hello to NS, Sam, Kensho, Pie & anyone else dropping by.

Slo - I hope you enjoy the family time, and that you also get some blueberries - whether picking, or farmers market, or wherever!

Mick - love the talking dog! I hope digging out the bees nest goes/went well and you don't get stung. Sounds like the bunnies will thank you.

Lav - Sounds like you've had more than enough heat and allergies for the year. I hope the storms break the heat and humidity for you - that's a really draining combination.

All is well here. Going to see my dad tomorrow and hoping for a nice pleasant visit. Will check in again tomorrow night.
