      Re: 23rd July ,

      Hot greetings everyone, yuck.
I won’t lie, I just hate this extreme heat & humidity. We are growing bizarre looking mushrooms in our lawn, no kidding. It is interesting to check on them every 12 hrs or so & note the growth haha!

NS, I’ve been playing that NYT game Connections, fun!
We have a whole house generator so it some storm comes along & knocks out power the generator kicks on. We had a hard time about 3 months after moving in here when the power was out for the better part of a week. Never again! Glad your dinner party went well despite the temp.

Mick, wishing you safe travels & a relaxing week in paradise

Wags, of course you helped your neighbor, I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Good deeds will be repaid somewhere along the line

Slo, glad you’re enjoying those grandchildren. They will grow so fast it will knock your socks off, honestly!

Cyn, I’ve been taking 5HTP all along since starting on the Amoryn supplement nearly 15 years ago. That supplement has a bunch of great vitamins, 5HTP, rhodiola & more & it just works for me. I chose Amoryn after being on an SSRI for 2 years with no great results. I hope you get the results you are looking for too. I think my messed up gut is responsible for my low serotonin level since that’s where it’s mostly made.

PQ, you really do deserve to have an assistant so your time isn’t wasted answering emails. Tell the boss I sad so, LOL
I hope you’re enjoying some cooler weather now. We have to get thru Saturday before we begin to get a break.

      Kensho, hello & I hope you’re well.
Pie, are you OK in the heat?

We were told repeatedly today to get ready for severe storms but so far nothing. Guess we have to wait.
      Wishing everyone a nice night!

        Re: 23rd July ,

MAE ALL...got through all my emails and only 2 booking requests today so managed to get a head start on the long-term rental agreements that start Sep 1st.

TG...good on you for letting the whole ceiling thing go. Hope the 5-HTP gives you some relief. Hats off to you for working on the Homeless Food delivery, in that heat I'm sure it wasn't easy. You're right to feel gratitude for what you have.

Slo...it could be 6 months before I can get a cataract surgery date. Will book a free eye exam and get a set of glasses just so I'm able to renew my drivers licencee in January. I was able to book lab work by the end of next month so that's a relief.

Wags...sorry yesterday wasn't as easy as you'd hoped. Life always seems to have different plans. Of course you guys jumped in to assist your neighbour, sorry it was such a long day for you. You stick to your vacation plans, you need the break before it all starts up again in the fall.

Mick...I hope you're snoozing away on your flight. Have a great time.

NS...nice that you were actually able to have your dinner party on the porch. I used to get stressed out trying to respond to every email and return every phone message as soon as I got them. Taking on the extra work of program coordinator just made it impossible so had to implement the "one foot in front of the other" approach or go crazy. As long as I know I'm doing the best I can in the time I have I'm good. I'll have to check out connections, thanks.

Lav...thought you were going to post earlier, maybe you did and it hit cyber space. LOL Hope your day was good.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Meatballs and rice tonight, I can be so boring. LOL Have a restful evening all....:smile:PPQP

Mick, if you look at your phone before your flight - here's wishing you a great time! And I hope the drive at 4 AM was okay... Yes, I do ALL the NY Times puzzles, but haven't seen Connections yet, I'll check it out (I play on my phone mostly...)

Wags - kudos to you for helping out - sorry it took away your down time, but "stars in your crown"...

Lav, I totally forgot about Amoryn... it's still available? You'll have to tell me more - I am just getting back into all the stuff we used to talk about. I think between the B12 and the 5HTP I am starting to feel better? Hard to know, with our heat index at 103 these last few days! Yes, it was my gut also that necessitated all the "helpers", but good thing there are ways to heal...

PPQ - busy as ever... and your dinner sounds just fine to me!

SLO - lovely to hear your joy in the little ones.

Pie - so happy that your party went just as planned -- and I'm relieved to hear that you'll have AC if you need it...

            Cheers to all -
            TG

              MAE all,

Wiped out but sober and of course happy about that. Today was a very full day of teaching plus a visit with my dad. I know I keep saying "tomorrow will be easier and I'll post more" but I really think that'll be the case tomorrow. For now, glad to see all of you and hope your Fridays are nice and gentle.

                Re: 23rd July ,

Thanks for taking the time to let us know you're doing ok, Wags  Hope today is a calmer one.

One thing I like about this crazy heat is that it makes going to the pool in the evening pleasant. The water has been warmed by the intense sun all day so getting in isn't hard. It probably is too warm for serious swimmers but perfect for playing ball with our grandsons.

                Safe travels, Mick!

Are you having trouble w/ the site, Slo? I saw your 'testing' post. The Army thread has tons of glitches - hope they don't start here!!

                  Re: 23rd July ,

                  Good morning!

Nothing wrong with meatballs & rice, PQ!

I’m still on my antidepressant, Lexapro. I think I still need it, and also, they’re a bear to get off of once you’re on them.

NS, I’m glad you used the new sun porch after all! Thankfully it was breezy out.

I don’t know how you do it, Wags; tutoring more than one student per day at such a high level. You sure get a brain workout! At least you have another lighter schedule time built in this Summer to look forward to.

That’s such an early departure time, Mick! But, you’ll get there in time to enjoy another day there.

                    Re: 23rd July ,

Yes, I’m having an issue with the site. When I push the button to post, it doesn’t indicate that my post went through, and it wants me to “restore auto-saved content”.

Today I am going overnight to a hotel in Chicago with Young Daughter to babysit the three grandkids while their parents attend a wedding.

I forgot about making arrangements for my cat and his fussy feeding schedule and excessive need for companionship! It would be a perfect win-win if I could trust my twin sister to stay here overnight and attend to him, but, since she was drinking & drunk & desecrating my place the last time I tried that, that option is closed. So, I guess I’ll put out dry food, and just clean up all the puke & poo when I get home. My new carpets sure take a beating with him around.

NS, yes, I do spend one day per week helping D1 at their house with the three grandkids. They live an hour & a half away, so it is scheduled.

I wasn’t going to see the Barbie movie, because I didn’t get the idea from the previews that I would like it at all. But it has wonderful social commentary as it explores some timely & historical issues! Plus it is sardonic, sarcastic, nostalgic, poignant -seriously, don’t dismiss it out of hand! It is not made for children though. It is for adults.

NS, I love July too for the warm water and warm air and extra daylight that allows for later evening biking and swimming.
There’s no pool at the hotel, so we’ll have to find a nearby park to take the kids to.

                    Happy weekend!

                        Re: 23rd July ,

                        Good evening friends,

Another hot day here heat index of 105. One more day of this then we get a break s they say.
The heat is bugging everyone, even the animals are off their feed.

Mick, lovely pics, thanks & I hope you guys have a great time

Slo, happy babysitting this weekend. Nice your daughter is going along too.
I hope Boyd is easy on your carpets haha! I was on Lexapro for 2 years & really didn’t like the way it left me feeling numb. When you want to stop you have to wean yourself slowly to avoid harsh withdrawal effects. I had no problem when I went off. That’s when I started on the OTC Amoryn which really did the trick for me.

NS, we had a pool at our previous house, sometimes I do miss it but didn’t want to put one in here. The evening was always a nice time to jump in for a bit

Wags, I sure hope you have an easy weekend ahead so you can catch up with yourself.

Cyn, yep Amoryn is still available online. I ordered 3 bottles at a time, shipping is free & they last a long time because I only take 1 capsule daily. Something to add to your arsenal, just in case. Maybe your current regimen will be enough, wait & see.

Hey PQ, meatball lady, LOL. I did post last night about a half an hour before you posted.
Good luck with all the medical stuff.

Hello to Pie, Sam, Kensho & anyone popping in tonight.
                        Wishing everyone peace !

                          Re: 23rd July ,

Mick - looks like a fab view and an even fabber place to explore. Enjoy your time in Menorca and thanks for letting us visit there vicariously through you.

Slo - we weren't even thinking about seeing the Barbie movie but it seems like *everyone* we know that's seen it has given enthusiastic thumbs up, so I blocked off an afternoon in next week's teaching schedule and are planning to go with a couple of dear feminist friends. I can't wait to see all of the things you mentioned in your post! Hope you have a safe and fun trip to Chicago with family.

PQ - hooray on getting through all those emails and then getting a head start on your next project/task!

NS - glad you were able to have your dinner/gathering outdoors after all. IMO that always feels more "summery" but obviously not pleasant when it's too hot to be comfortable.

Lav - sounds like you're about ready for a break from the heat. I hope you get some cooler days soon!

TG - I love the NYTimes puzzles too, but hadn't tried Connections (until today ) It's nice to have a new one to try!

Had a much easier day today - done teaching at 2pm and no major tasks/projects that HAD to be done, so spending the afternoon & evening in our beautiful backyard (thanks to my wife - she's the designer, I'm just the muscle ) Even though we're in a very urban neighborhood, it's a little oasis of escape. Tomorrow will be a trip to the farmer's market, and then to watch 2 friends on opposing teams in the queer adult kickball league. Should be a fun day off!

Hellos and waves to everyone I didn't catch. Take care everyone and happy weekends to you all!

MAE ALL...wow, the site is really acting up tonight. I can't see past Mick's post so I tried going advanced and can now see Lav's & Wag's posts. Now I realize why I couldn't see Lav's post from yesterday. Once I posted, there it was. Wierd. I think the Gremlin that runs around the community centre has invaded MWO. LOL

TG...actually my rice and meatballs was pretty good. LOL

Slo...now you know you're not alone with having issues with the site. It's not you. LOL An overnight stay in Chicago, sounds like an adventure. Hope you have a great time. I've heard nothing but good things about the Barbie movie, glad you liked it. Hope to don't return home to too much of a mess.

Mick...the resort looks amazing. You remember to cover that noggin of yours.

Lav...yup, finally found your post. At least I figured out a work around (shades of what I do at work) to see the posts. I hate to tell you but the high here today was 55F. A 20 degree drop from the day before! We're all in trouble. I heard mushrooms were very medicinal. LOL There's been an explosion of medical clinics starting to charge their patients an annual membership fee. The provincial government is looking at shutting them down as it will eliminate federal transfer payments from Ottawa. I'll be phoning my Dr. on Monday for an appointment.

Wags...glad I figured out how to see the posts as I was wondering how you were doing. So glad to hear it was an easier day and you could spend time in your private oasis. Pics would be nice...just saying. You'll have to let us know what you think of the Barbie movie. Enjoy your day tomorrow, sounds like a good one.

Got all my long-term rental contracts for next fiscal year finished and emailed out today, such a relief to have that done. I have promised myself to get the public vendor signup registration for the craft fair in November out to everyone, work on the September newsletter submissions and take a long weekend off. Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a peaceful evening all...:smile:PPQP

Getting rained on again but this time there’s supposed to be a cold front following ~ I sure hope so!!!

Mick, that’s the most unusual shower tile I’ve ever seen, wow!! I think it would make me dizzy though haha!
That’s quite a hike in sandals pal, hope your feet are feeling better. Have fun

PQ, sounds like we need to be magicians to see all the posts huh??
I think I would kill for 55 degree weather right now, Lol Enjoy it while it lasts!
Membership fees to see doctors - uh no! I know a few around here have tried that too, no thanks. Either you accept what my insurance company offers you or I’m out of there, geez. Sounds like yo made some real good progress at work, nice.

Wags, your day off plans sound good. I hope you enjoyed the day & had some decent weather for it too.

Cyn, how are you holding up in the heatwave? Have you gotten any cooler air move in yet?
                                Pie, same question for you!

We’re pretty dap after an inch of rain yesterday & almost that much today. The yard shroom continues to grow quite well Lol
