Re: 6th of August

MAE ALL...wow, what a day. I did manage to get through my emails by 4pm!! The event bookings have started up again, glad I put a process in place as I can get through them much quicker now. The director of childcare is on vacation for 2 weeks so of course the assistant director and one of her staff had a meeting with the boss this afternoon. After which he asked me to change the parent drop off procedure. This is something the director has been fighting against, she's going to be livid.

Lav...we've been sitting around 78F with popup thunderstorms in the evenings for a few days now. It's supposed to heat up again to 90F next week. I hate to say it but I'm done with this summer. I had about a dozen craft sale vendor inquires when I got back, didn't get to them today but I'm going to be sold out before I know it. YB sounds like my ex, always had to be his way. It was quite freeing when I knew the marriage was over and just ignored him.

Slo...how nice of your neighbours to do all that. You've definitely landed in the right place. So sorry you're the brunt of your sister's rage. I'm so glad you decided you were done. I think you've done as much as you could to support her and now it's time to move on.

Mick...my guess is your post will start off with "another post ends up in cyber space".

Shout out to everyone else. Have a restful evening all....:smile:PPQP

Wow...when I went to post it came up with Welcome Guest. Log in to post. Sure glad it took it, first time I hadn't copied it. Will be doing that from now on. LOL

MAE all,

I?m coordinating a rescue transport from Minnesota to Houston then on to North Dakota. One of our volunteers is a flight attendant, so she?s juggling standby flights. Good thoughts welcome for smooth delivery of a 6 pound fur ball to final destination.

Re: 6th of August

Good evening friends,

Weird day, we had storms & a ton off rain earlier then the sun arrived. Looking like more rain may be on the way later.
My resident patient is doing fine. I told him he had to take care of his own donkey Mick haha!! Trying to get back to pillow making so I’m ready for the Fall events. My 10 month old kitten/cat bit me on the hand this morning for no reason so I threw his butt outside & that’s where he will stay as far as I’m concerned. He’s been a beast & can be very nasty for no reason. I will probably keep the remaining kitten born the last week of May. He’s been so very sweet & easy going. My younger brother told me to name the kitten after him so he’ll be Bob!! The older kitten I named after my oldest, now deceased brother Dave. I still need to trap & neuter the mama cat but haven’t been able to trap her so far. So that’s what keeps me busy.

PQ, I’m done with this summer too!
Having a spouse with a difficult personality is not easy as you know. So many times I considered pulling the plug but my stubbornness got in the way. I know he can do better but it’s exhausting trying to keep him in line. Most of the time I just don’t bother any more. His brother had the same traits & ended up killing himself several years ago if you remember. Sounds like you’re as busy as ever at work!!

Pie, good luck with your doggie transfers, sounds like a busy time!!

Mick, the tomatoes are starting to redden but we didn’t plant that many. It’s easier to get cheap Amish grown, haha.
We did have a huge garlic & onion harvest with 3 kinds of onions. I lost another chicken this week so that’s 4 in 4 weeks. I really think the heat beat them up badly this year. My chicken keeping time is drawing to a close & I guess they know that. I love that cartoon of the dogs stopping to smell the Roses, Lol

Hello to Slo, Cyn & everyone stopping in later.
Have a. Nice night all!

Re: 6th of August

MAE ALL...it was non stop today. New booking requests, changes to existing requests, help with registering online. Wouldn't have been able to deal with everything if I was working on fall programs.

Pi...:wings: Good thoughts on the way :wings: Safe travels.

Mick...is the Shetland pony white? They can be very domineering. Only had the car for the one day. They did bring the new car home, I haven't seen it yet. Apparently it's in good working condition except they have trouble starting it. Doesn't sound good to me. Things have gotten worse in Childcare and I fear it's going to be a sad outcome when the director gets back from vacation.

Lav...bad Dave, make him stay outside. LOL Why am I not surprised Bob will be a keeper you old softie you. Yes, I remember YB's brother. Seeing the kids "difficult" attitudes at our out of school program and then seeing the parents, you know exactly where they get it from. Our weather has been ok but I'm not looking forward to next weeks heat return.

Time to get the tacos going. My thoughts are with everyone else. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

Mae all -
Just read back a little? so comforting to read all the notes.
Extremely tired from my quick trip, not sure why, except a ton of emotions smooshed into 3 days, plus 2 for travel. Or maybe arriving g home at 2AM?

Will get myself together and post soon - so grateful for my sobriety that got me through with flying colors?. That scene is totally wine-soaked and really not pretty. good to get out of there and home to my little abode. My elder did okay while I was gone, but was fairly feeble (like she had given up somewhat?) but she is spring back in these last few days. Seeing her and doing the homeless meals has wrung me out?hopefully more energy soon.
Wishing all well..,
TG

mae all ,how are we doing today then?hope all is well.yesterday ,we had really high temps ,and suddenly last night it absolutely battered down with rain and was really windy .Calmed down a bit this morning ,Julies mums birthday yesterday,so she went up to lay flowers on the grave ..She sent me a pic of the churchyard ...what a bloody disgrace ..litter ,and the grass almost knee high ...apparently they dont even have a vicar for the church..its shared now .Whether you are religious or not is immaterial ..its the last resting place ,where folk can go and chat etc .bearing in mind I broke my strimmer and needed a new one ..I bought a cordless one ,so I can go down and tidy the grave site up .keep me busy (ier!)

hiya ppqp..how are you doing today?hope all is good ..this should be interesting when the director gets back....get yer tin hat on !!!yep the Sheltie is white ish tommy ten men!!Maybe its just me ,but I feel that there is at least a generation of old style parenting gone ..Im not saying beat lumps out of kids ,but addressing the issues as opposed to an awww there there attitude .Social wokeism has played its part too.

hiya teegee...welcome back ...and well done to you for staying away from the temptation .its pretty easy to say Ive beat it for so many years ...one wont hurt ..how are you doing?

hiya Lav ....stop copying our weather ..Amy had her younger cat speyed 2 days ago...the other cat will do nothing but hiss because it smells of the vet!!!what are you going to do when you dont keep chickens? So Dave has a big house now with no roof ,or sides with great views but not weather

take care have a good weekend ..

big shout to everyone else ...

Re: 6th of August

Greetings,

Russian sage does have a scent, Mick…not sweet, maybe pungent & exotic?
I’m excited that apple season is here too! I picked up a bag of apples from the farmers market last weekend.
At least Julie’s mom’s grave will be kept up amongst all the overgrown ones, thanks to your new strimmer. It makes me grateful for the regular mowing at my dad’s, brother’s, and grandparent’s gravesites (and my future one) in the little rural church cemetery.
The ball really is in my sister’s court. This has been a very long lesson in the fact that there’s really not much of anything one can do about someone else’s drinking problem. Booze is everywhere, and it’s readily accessible. So stopping drinking has to come from the inside.

The neighborhood ladies hosted a luncheon in a restaurant yesterday, that I was able to attend! Such a nice event.

TG, I thought the music festival might be less booze-soaked than most festivals-but of course not. They just drink wine instead of beer.
You sure are adding much to your wise, smart, interested, civic-minded elder’s final years. Thankfully she has you.

Pie, why does it sound like it would be shorter to fly the dog from Minnesota directly to North Dakota…I guess that’s just not how it works.

Little Bob could be the perfect kitty for you, Lav! Dave is just destined to be an outdoor cat I guess. He’ll have the company of Mama anyways.
As the chickens dwindle and you don’t replace them, keeping chickens will phase out.
You really do understand from personal experience, Lav. As with your brother towards you, my sister also considers me the Ultimate Bitch. And nothing I do changes her mind; her mind is set. So I need to move away from this unhealthy situation.
Now I thoroughly understand why YB didn’t have you drive him to the appointment! I thought it was out of concern for you -that you’d have to drive too much, or sit around waiting for too long. But no -with his type of personality, it’s about control, drama, and self-aggrandizement.

PQ, shit is going to hit the fan when the childcare director gets back!

I have added a medical-strength Bio Freeze to my painful knee. I guess it helps a little bit, to numb it.

NS must be taking an unplugged 3-week vacation. That is how you make it a true immersive vacation in nature!

Let’s remember what Guitarista says: Friday ain’t no ticket to Boozeville!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 6th of August

Good evening friends,

I announced I wasn’t cooking today so we suddenly ended up at Applebees for dinner. I was just going to skip eating entirely Lol I’m weird but I just don’t need to eat 3X/day, not that it makes me lose weight or anything.
Half sunny half cloudy today, I think the next rain is due in tomorrow. Yep, Dave survived his first 24 hrs outside, tried to get inside a few times but I slammed the door on him. I guess he finally knows how pissed off I am, ugh. Bob seems very happy following his grandmother Luna around the house

Mick, that’s a shame no one is taking care of the gravesite. Hopefully your efforts will convince others to do the same for their families.
I’m sure I’ll fill my time once I no longer have the chickens, haha I never get bored. Looking forward to not having to deal with their water cans in the middle of winter.

Cyn, glad your trip went OK even though it was an emotional time for you.
I’m so happy NOT being around drinking people, they certainly can look stupid at times. Your elder definitely needs social stimulation of some sort. Have you looked into an adult daycare situation for her? Some areas have them, most do not. It would be ideal for her.

Slo, I have a Russian sage plant & I never noticed any scent from it, hmm. Maybe they’re all different.
You’re absolutely right about YB. He insists on being the drama king, I just ignore him to keep my sanity. I believe most people can see through his BS. I have to save my sanity any way I possibly can . Hope the Bio Freeze is helpful for your knee. Keep yourself OUT of your sister’s polluted imagination, you’ll be a lot happier trust me.

PQ, so he bought a car that won’t start? Uh oh! I like my cars to start on the first try, haha. I hope maybe it just needs a starter replaced or something easy.
Sounds like you need to shield your energy at work since you can’t control everything that goes on there. I’m pretty good at staying out of other people’s problems but I do expect them to own their problems & fix things. Good luck!

Hello to PIe, NS, Kensho & everyone stopping by later.
Have a nice night all.

Re: 6th of August

MAE ALL...TGIF! had to check and make sure I was logged in. Haha For a short week it was exhausting. Charity fundraiser event showed up around 2pm and the celebration of life people showed up around 3. Spent more time outside directing traffic than I did inside. LOL They're expecting 250 for the Celebration, I couldn't believe the amount of food they brought in.

TG...the answer to your question is All of the above. LOL Too bad the scene was wine-soaked, good job on abstaining. Your elder is getting way too dependent on you and that's not fair. Deal with the family. Take some time for yourself, that was an emotional trip. :heartbeat:

Mick...I fear the weather is going to change for all of us, don't think we'll get back to normal. That's sad about the grave site and good on you for deciding to keep it up. I'm not looking forward to the return of the director. I was going to give her a heads up when she got back from holidays but apparently she received an email from the boss. I agree with the missing generation of parenting. Like you say it's not the beatings but there's no more respect, responsibility, empathy. It's all entitlement.

Slo...it sounds like you've got a great group of neighbours and friends to be around. Let all the rest of it go. The Director feels the boss is quiet firing her but in truth there is a lot of things that she does/doesn't do that needs to change. After 25 years change is going to be an issue. If he fires her, she'll fight him and she won't quit, she'll take it to the board. I just want to see a resolution soon.

Something weird happened so I just submitted my post so I wouldn't loose it. Will continue...

Lav...I announced I'm not cooking tonight but I don't think I'll be going to Applebees. They'll probably just go out and get themselves something to eat. LOL So it was the brother who bought the car that doesn't start. Last night I heard them talking and Colt had found some other possibilities. So I don't think he's happy with his brother's choice either. LOL The whole thing that started the rift between the directors was the assistant told the boss that the director told her to lie on her timesheet. And that was just not true! To make a long story short the problem is the way they communicate to each other and that is going to be the mountain that one of them dies on. I'm tired of the bashing and my response now is let's try to find a positive way to move forward. Hiding in my office engrossed in my computer helps. LOL

Pi...still sending positive vibes and I hope the rescue is going good.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....

Re: 6th of August

Quick Friday night post - I?ll have to read back a few days; everyone seems to have a lot going on, and some emotional stories.
Good luck to everyone with everything?
Lav, phasing out the chickens? Mick - so sorry about the gravesite, that?s sad. So glad you can trim it up.

I got a surprise today - my elder was in high spirits this morning? her family is coming tonight! I wish they would have thought to tell me, but anyway, that?s good news (2 out of 3 of the siblings, and a grandson and his girlfriend. )
Lav, she won?t leave the house, i?ve tried, but no go. I am suggesting to the family that they get some PT person to come in - hopefully 2x a week? She?s not my mom, so not much I can do. I did talk her into having some friends over a couple of weeks ago? but the ?party? just made her want to have more than her normal evening cocktail, so it was a mixed bag.
Anyway, thrilled that her kids are here?

Wishing all well as I catch up with everyone?
Take care,
TG

Good question about the dog?s transport path, Slo. Flight attendant lives in Minnesota, pup is in Houston, adopters are in North Dakota. Transport was successfully completed, and pup is now acclimating to her new home.

There?s a meetup today for the car group that I?m a member of. Much as I enjoy these, pretty sure the unrelenting heat will keep me at home. Still undecided.

TG, a book, The Collected Regrets of Clover, has come to my attention. Main character, Clover, is a death doula in NYC. Wondering if you?ve read it?
