Re: 27th
Sunday greetings to all!
No big surprise the heat returned again today. Decided to skip trying to do anything outside such as garden clean up. Working on projects for the craft fair next month.
Mick, thanks for the start up! Glad you enjoyed the wedding & the weather cooperated too
I hope you have a good visit with your brother tomorrow.
Not much else going on so I’ll just say HELLO to all & maybe check back in later-ish.
Have a nice night everyone.

Re: 27th
I haven’t had the air conditioner on for two days, Lav! Cooler air might be coming your way soon.
I did the 10-mile Slow Roll bike ride this morning with D2 and her young adult in-law nephew. That was fun! I loved being outdoors in the warm sun in the crowd, with music playing and lunch served, and getting in a great and scenic bike ride! I wish my 17-year-old nephew would have come though, as I think the two guys are similar in nature, and would’ve enjoyed meeting. Of course “free beer” and beer-drinking featured prominently, but I just had a little root beer, and otherwise water. I enjoyed having companions today. And soak up the sun while I can, because I can feel Fall coming.
Glad the wedding didn’t get rained on, Mick, and you didn’t mind the wedding.
I wonder if you’ll get the coating on your van before leave on your trip? Didn’t you get rained out again on that?
treegirl, when I was visiting D3 & her HB in the heart of the rural midwest last weekend, I bought a used community cookbook -and there was the Buster Bar dessert!
I guess the heat allows you to stitch away and be ready for the coming craft fair, Lav.
Hi to PQ, Wags, NS, Pie, and anyone else stopping by soon..Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 27th
Slo - sounds like a fun bike ride with family. What a wonderful way to spend the day!
Lav - you and me both on wanting the heat to go away. Hope you got a lot done on your craft fair prep work. We HAD to get some new starts planted in our veggie garden so we went out early and were done by 10am. It was still hot!
Mick - glad the rain stayed away for the wedding. We will all stay tuned to hear about your van...
Good day here. After the above-mentioned garden work, I got cleaned up and went to visit my dad. Today was a good day for the most part. He was having lunch with his two neighbors and although they're all in similar stages of dementia and some days they barely recognize each other (let alone me), today they were all chatting and even joking a bit, and they all recognized me and welcomed me to the table. Warmed my heart :heartbeat:
Happy new weeks everyone!

Re: 27th
Good evening friends,
Not as hot today but definitely more humid. Looks like rain will be here in a day or two.
Well I noticed some discomfort on the left side of my mouth while eating dinner last night. Why? I woke up this morning with the left side of my face swollen (not cute) & pain extending all the way to my ear. I was in the dentist office by 10:30 & found out I have an abscess under a recently placed crown. I’m just SO lucky, haha! I get to take an antibiotic for a week then will eventually get back in for a dreaded root canal, ugh. This getting old stuff really stinks, honestly.
Slo, your bike ride sounds like fun & easy on your knee I hope
I would have been happy to leave the beer to the beer drinkers too. I will get back to my craft work tomorrow, hopefully without the face pain & swelling.
Wags, sometimes you just can’t get away from the extreme heat & humidity. Glad you got your outside work done early.
Sounds like you had an enjoyable visit. With your dad, that’s great!
Mick, glad you had a good visit with your brother too. I’d say people really like their yard ornaments around there Lol
I hate seeing severe accidents on the road. I lost three co-workers in separate accidents, all on their way home from work on the same highway.
Not sure living on a narrow boat would suit me - I have too much stuff haha!
Hello to PQ & Cyn & anyone else stopping by later.
Have a nice night all.

Re: 27th
MAE ALL...boy it was tough getting up and going to work today. Thankfully it was a busy full day so it went by fast.
Mick...thanks for starting the thread yesterday. Glad the weather held for the wedding, it's just so weird having it on a Sunday. Each to their own. That's quite the collection of yard ornaments, must be great walking past them all. Glad you were able to get a visit in with your brother.
Slo...sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday and lunch was included. Yup, fall won't be far off.
Wags...always nice when your visit with your Dad is a good one. I'll join the "Go away heat gang" We're having a 2 day heat wave, Wednesday should see us back to normal temps.
Lav...oh no! I was worried it might have been something really bad, like a mini stroke or something. Not that an abscessed tooth isn't bad but at least it's fixable. Sorry about the root canal, I refuse to get one anymore. If the tooth's that bad I just want it pulled. Strange there wasn't any sign of abscess when the crown was replaced. Starting to get a few cancellations for the craft sale, all legitimate reasons, but have a wait list started with 5, let the juggling begin. LOL
Popped out after work to get something for my lunches, just didn't feel like doing anything over the weekend. Going to pop a frozen pizza in the oven for supper, easy peacy. Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

Re: 27th
Quick hello tonight,
I am bushed! Raced around this morning getting things ready for being at work, and then did the 2 pm to 10 pm shift. (1/2 hour for dinner break).
I love being busy and love the physical labor part of the job! Suits me to a T!!! And the benefits!!! Unbelievable? why on earth was I a sole proprietor all this years?? this is line Nirvana. I already connected with some AF folks on the team, so that was nice?
But I?m glad I have 2 days off now. I?ll work again on Thursday, same shift.
I?m off to bed. Lav, as someone says, we?re sending the cool air to you - hopefully it will arrive soon!
Wishing all well?
TG

hiya pie ,Slo Sm and everyone else hope things are good .
I finally realised my parents favoured my twin brother when they asked me to blow up balloons for his surprise birthday party
A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patty Whack.
"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a 30,000 loan to take a holiday"...
Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager...
Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral...
The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed...
Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office...
She finds the manager and says, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow 30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral"... She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this"...?
The bank manager looks back at her and says, "It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone"...
Dad: Hey son, what is the capital of Alaska
Son: Juno
Dad: No, I don’t, that’s why I asked you!
If anyone wants advice on how to keep their home secure please feel free to contact me.
My door is always open.
Think twice before getting a rescue cat. My Nan got one. She tripped and fell one day, it just sat there and did nothingaf since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: 27th
That was a fun article, Sam! Thanks for posting it.
And thanks for posting after Mick so his post would appear in the thread, and I could read it! (The first post on a new post often doesn’t show until the second person posts).
Wags, not only your dad, but his two friends also were having good days that day! Yes, heartwarming that he was doing so well, at least on that day.
I got my cleaning and my exercise done for the day today! I pulled out my old “Pilates for Dummies” DVD. I read Pilates is supposed to be good for knee replacements, and for aging in general. Got a delicious bike ride in too.
I spent the day with that handsome little Huxley yesterday. I had to nap when he napped. I’m just so tired lately. But it’s the second full moon of this month, and it’s the closest, biggest, and brightest super moon of the year; so it’s pulling on me! Soon it will be over.
I carelessly put on 10 pounds this past year, so I’m trying to watch my calories better. Can’t keep going in that direction!
Oh, Lav, that tooth sounds horrible! Yikes. Poor you.
TG, good news that you liked your first day on the job!! And that you have a couple of days off to assimilate it. So you’re not the only AF person working at the “Two-buck Chuck” store?! So awesome that the benefits are good too.
I don’t know which choirboy you are, Mick! They all have hair. You are a man of all sorts of talents! This trip will be a fun trip down memory lane for you.
The Patty Whack joke is clever. As is the twin one.
Sometimes a busy day is helpful, PQ -for staying alert and making the time go fast.
I used to love having a pizza night fairly often when I had a family to feed.
Tomorrow I will head up and spend the day with D1 and her three little kids.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 27th
Good evening friends,
Swallowing Arthritis strength Tylenol & Ibuprofen like a mad person but I’m at least comfortable enough to function & eat a little. Still have the left sided chipmunk face though Lol.
YB had an appt. To see his surgeon today so I went along since it’s a long ride. Everything is fine & that book is now closed. We stopped at a few places on the way home including Costco. Didn’t get home until after 3 pm. Cloudy & humid all day, no rain yet. Watching the news about the hurricane about to hit the state of Florida. Talked to one of my friends down there yesterday, she doesn’t seem too concerned. I hope it goes by quickly.
Slo, the weight gain these days happens for seemingly no reason. Watching your diet & exercising doesn’t seem to make a dent - at least for me. I wish you much better luck. I’m still watching my # of steps daily, getting at least 30 min of walking in daily (60 min when I can). I’m more concerned about cardiac health than anything honestly. Keeping an eye on that moon too since I know it always affects my sleep. Have fun with all the kiddies, chasing them is good exercise too
Sam, thanks for the article! My oldest hens are now 7. I’ve been talking about getting rid of them but I’m not sure I want to drop them off at an Amish farm because I know they’ll be killed immediately. Guess I should hang onto them until nature takes them. Hope you are well!
Mick, good luck with your packing & prep work for your next trip. Sounds like it will be an interesting trip. I can’t quite imagine you as a choir boy haha!
You must have some great memories. Not looking forward to the root canal but I’ll deal with it when the time comes.
Cyn, sounds like you found the perfect job, good for you! It’s always great to be with like-minded people.
If. You say cool weather is on the way to me I’ll say thank you & bless you!!
PQ, sounds like you had a good start to the week. I hope the crafters don’t get into fist fights over the open spots Lol.
I used to love to pop a frozen pizza in the oven once in a while but had to stop because of the cheese & high sodium, boo hoo.
Hello to Wags, Pie & anyone else popping in tonight.
Have a nice night all!
