24th September

Hello everyone and how are you today then? Hope everyone is doing well. I am currently doing this on my phone, Simply because Julie is starting to paint the walls in the front room. Now without putting two fine point on it firstly I hate painting and secondly I am absolutely crap at it whether the two have anything to do with each other I don't know but nevertheless I always get thrown out when she is painting. This is just emulsion however white gloss for me is a real pain on wood and I know she is going to be doing the glossing if it's wood it should be shown as wood that's my theory and of. It is pouring down with the rain at the moment come off however it looks like it is going to slow down to a steady down haha full stop apart from that not really a lot to say at the moment so hopefully everyone is okay today the start of a new week take care and look after yourselves

Re: 24th September

Hello to all,

It sounds like a good weekend, Wags! I guess you would end up tutoring some students on the weekends in order to accommodate their schedules.

PQ, that’s funny that all of a sudden none of your articles for the newsletter were “ads”!

I’m having a weekend doing nothing, Mick. Perhaps I should be more proactive. Couldn’t sleep much the last couple nights, so ended up falling asleep on the couch in front of football this afternoon.
You already did enough to renovate the front room, so now it’s Julie’s turn to do something.

The neighborhood meet & greet was very nice, and the two hours outdoors with everyone passed very quickly. I enjoyed it. I continue to successfully decouple the association of social occasions equals drinking booze. Every opportunity helps to build my new modus operandi.

TG, what a friendly patient you are! I’m sure the nurses liked being appreciated. Good news that you’re basically ok, and your heart is in good shape.

I saw an ad for your type of car, Lav, and it looks like a cute car. I can’t figure out how to re-program my car radio stations either. And I don’t know how I scrambled them in the first place.
You sure made up for not cooking that evening, with lots of cooking in the following day(s)!

I have been taken with the show ‘Young Sheldon’ lately, and have been watching it whenever I can. Do you like that show set in Texas, Pie?

Re: 24th September

Sunday greetings one & all!

Rain off & on all day but the wind has died down. Tropical storm Ophelia is on the way out!
Felt the need for a mental health escape again so it was a quick trip to Walmart. At least no one there wants anything from me, Lol

Cyn, I’m so happy for you & what a plus that your hospital experience was positive too. It was always SO refreshing to get an alert & oriented patient, nurses really & truly appreciate that haha. I still need to put some things into writing too. I have been verbalizing my wishes to my daughter for years, she gets me. Glad you are doing so well.

Slo, good you enjoyed your neighborhood gathering. We should all have things like that from time to time. We were invited to a one yr old’s birthday party across the road this afternoon but turned it down. Their driveway is steep, hard to walk up & I know yB never would have made it there.
I really do like my little zoom zoom car & now that my granddaughter has my fav stations tuned it it’s pure pleasure to drive. Find a kid to tune in yours like I did

Mick, I used to do a ton of painting. Even hanging wall paper but I’m over all that now haha. I hope Julie enjoyed the process.
We’re approaching 2.5” of rain from this storm system, ugh.

Wags, my brother in California talks about those weather events, ugh & good luck!

Hello to Pie, PQ & anyone else checking in tonight. Sam, where are you buddy?

Have a nice night all.

Re: 24th September

Mae all,
Lovely to read the news from everyone. Doing this on my phone, so I apologize in advance for the errant question marks!

Lav, I used to be a professional house painter (for extra money when I was a classical singer, lol). I loved doing it - to see what you?ve accomplished is so satisfying? but I wouldn?t have the strength or balance to do it (professionally) now! Glad you like your car!
Mick, it sounds like you and Julie are quite a pair at re-doing your home? I think it?s time for a TV show about all your updates (starting the rabbits primarily, of course.)
SLO, so glad to hear that you enjoyed the gathering? yes, there are a lot of ?firsts? but you are knocking them down..,
Wags, dear me, did you ever get a vacation in this summer? Seems like you worked right through and then the school year started again?
Greetings, Pie - hoping all is well? I get lots of Rescue posts on FB and I always think of you?
I?m a little tired still, but got another walk-in today - a lovely early-fall day. I might venture out for a choral Compline Service this evening? (Mick knows what that is &#128521? we?ll see -
Wishing all well, (and every day I am grateful for my AF-ness)
Cheers,
TG

Re: 24th September

Hi All,

Fifty percent chance of rain today so keeping fingers crossed. Let my HOA friends know that I?m falling behind on watering. Been at it since June, and decidedly tired of the sweat, mosquitoes, and fire ants. We?re all disappointed that more neighbors aren?t helping, but in fairness, landscape maintenance is an HOA responsibility. Feeling distress over this unmet need for more irrigation stations, but not willing to make enemies over it.

Mick, I?d be steering clear of the front room painting also, but nice that Julie has taken it on. Painting is SO much more work than it seems.

Slo, I?m not familiar with the Young Sheldon you mention. Will look into it.

Lav, hope you?re enjoying the heck out of your new car. It?s a blue beauty for sure.

TG, you sound to be a woman of many talents!

Re: 24th September

Hey friends, happy Monday evening

Cloudy as heck all day with a few lingering rain showers left over from the main event. I think it will be the same tomorrow.
Catching up with some customer orders & getting a gift together for the neighbor’s one year old foster kid. They have had him since a week or two after he was born & really want to adopt him. His birth mother has no interest & father is basically unknown, ugh.

Cyn, you really are a lady of many talents!! Did you sing while you were painting? I ask because I remember walking in here one day while the finishers were hanging drywall. They were Mexican & singing some happy tune, really sounded good too
Glad you’re getting some fresh air. When are you able to return to work at TJs?

Mick - Dan Singh on the ceiling HA HA!! Good one.
Our local Walmart is different. I’ve been in some others that were horrendous. I usually have a nice quiet walk thru, no one bothers me there haha. I don’t blame Julie for taking her time with the painting, I would too at this point.

Pie, I really hope you got some rain today. It’s a shame the HOA is not responsive to the requests for more watering stations. I have never personally dealt with an HOA so I don’t know what I would do there. The new car is fun to drive & the color perks me up whenever I see it

Hello to PQ, Slo & anyone stopping by tonight.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 24th September

MAE ALL....went in at 7am on Saturday and opened for the event. I was out of there by 9am and didn't think about work again. The boss wasn't so lucky. LOL I guess he got a lot of texts from the facility staff, most of them are new and the renter is pretty high maintenance. I guess they left quite a mess Saturday night and the boss actually had to go over and finish cleaning the kitchen before the church came in on Sunday. I must have been cc'd on 15 emails between him and the renter this morning. He worked from home today which really impressed the accountant as she wanted to send the audit file to the accountant and had questions. Aw! Sorry for not posting yesterday, was feeling kinda down and just played computer games all day and ignored life in general. Feeling much better today though.

TG...such great news about the test. I bet you're glad to get that over with. I have to get my ducks in a row and get my documents done. Living with the boys they can just carry on after I'm gone. LOL I did look up what a Compline Service is. It sounded very relaxing.

Wags...I've been watching the "Atmospheric River" news on the TV too. It's supposed to hit us around Wednesday and we'll drop in temp to freezing over night and highs of only 10C/50F. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end. LOL

Mick...I'm with you when it comes to painting for the same reasons. It always seems like such any easy thing to do but that's deceiving. Looks like rain is on the way for us too, just hope it doesn't have any snow mixed in with it.

Slo...ya, I think the boss scared the publisher when he said we'd find a different way to get the word out to our community. LOL After getting home Saturday morning I had pretty much the same weekend as you. Glad you got out to the neighbourhood meet & greet though. I used to watch Young Sheldon, I found it very amusing.

Lav...we had a decent weekend but there was lots of wind. I love that you have your mental health escape at Walmart. LOL Perfect place for being ignored by everyone. I was looking at booking an event in January and realized I haven't put placeholders in for my Winter Programs, so that's what I worked on today. Geeze, can't even get through fall first. Glad you're enjoy your new wheels, I'm enjoying having mine back.

Waves to anyone stopping in tonight.
Have a good night all...:smile:PQ

MAE everyone - just a quick sober check-in for me - I have a bunch of student billing to do by midnight or the $ won't reach me until mid-Oct's paycheck. I'm ok $-wise but hate having this chore hanging over my head. Seems like folks are doing well or at least hanging in there.

Happy new weeks to you all and I'll catch up more fully tomorrow.

Re: 24th September

It’s raining buckets here today. So glad my plants and grass are getting watered!
Pie, maybe you have to focus your watering efforts on your own building and immediate area only…or maybe only as far as each irrigation station reaches? That’s so frustrating about the lack of help and the lack of irrigation stations, but you can only do what you as one person can do though.

You accomplish so much, Mick! My world, like YB’s, is narrowed by pain and especially pain with mobility, so I have to really measure out what I do, and have to limit it. I’m impressed with all you do though, and I like to hear about all your projects.

PQ, yeah, we had the same weekend! I default to my computer games quite a bit too, and retreat from the world. Weekends are meant for relaxing and rejuvenating, after all. Glad you’re feeling better.
Luckily you’re not the boss, and he gets to deal with all those weekend problems rather than you.

I hear it’s going to be an El Ni?o Winter this year, so more mild overall for us in the Midwest of USA.

I slept through the night! Well, I had enough outdoor time yesterday, and lots of hugs from Huxley. Today I will be back with Huxley for a bit while his mommy D2 begins the process of another round of fertility treatments.

Walmart sounds perfect for an escape from home, Lav. Poor YB. I hope tomorrow’s procedure will eliminate his pain. Fingers crossed that your neighbors can adopt that baby.

The neighborhood gathering over the weekend wasn’t a first, but still, I appreciate the rewards of being AF for 5 years; that the association of “party means drinking “ that I developed over decades of adulthood continues to dim, and the new associations that it’s okay and just fine and doable to socialize without drinking, continue to strengthen.

Did you make it out for the choral compline, TG?

Wags, it seems the billing & financial part is what people who run their own business hate to have to fit in. Like it’s one more thing, that’s not the main thing. I hope it went smoothly and easily for you.

Re: 24th September

Hello friends,

YB got a call from the hospital today & was told to report in at 6AM tomorrow. That means we have to leave here a little before 5 AM. And that means I need more than an hour to get showered, dressed & all the animals fed so I guess I’ll be getting up at Silly o’clock unfortunately. I really really hope he gets relief this time. Got some pillows delivered to a happy regular customer today so that was good.

PQ, sounds like you have enough work to keep you busy right thru the end of the year, geez. Good luck with it all.
We still have complete cloud cover today but just drizzly rain, nothing big. Gloomy out there for sure. The boss got his butt handed to him this weekend, huh? Haha!!!

Wags, I ran my small embroidery business for 15 years & like you was responsible for everything - soup to nuts, LOL. But, if you want to get paid you have to get the bills out. I feel for you.

Mick, we just had a O storm (Ophelia). How come you’re just starting with A??
The vehicles will stay dirty for a while & YB’s garden is so overgrown you almost can’t see it. We had the grandson scheduled to come over Sunday to clear it out but the weather was so bad. It can all wait, I really don’t care at this point. I know you’ll stay as busy as ever regardless of the weather Lol

Slo, I thought I saw the Farmers Almanac say we were going to have more snow this winter. We had none last winter which was weird.
I’m grateful to be over the ‘party’ phase of life. I don’t miss it or crave it in any way. Looking back now it was all pretty stupid don’t you think? I’m much happier being level headed & calm these days despite all the extraneous craziness. Good luck to your daughter onher fertility treatments.

Hello to Pie & everyone.

MAE ALL...steady day today uncovering more things that went wrong on the weekend. Went to get a knife and fork to eat my lunch and there they were gone. LOL In there place was a tray of all spoons. Boss discovered the group helped themselves to all the staff snacks and 27 bottles of water. So that renter has officially made the "No Fly List". The accountant has really screwed up big time but I too tired to explain it all.

Wags...hope you got through your student billing, that's one chore nobody wants to do. Except my accountant but you don't want her.

Mick...like Lav said, how come you're starting at A. Are you on a different calendar than the rest of us? Have you ever thought that all that rain comes because of all the vehicle washing you do? Just saying. It must be time for you to start on your trains again.

Slo...yup, the weekend renter is a headache I can live without. I actually told him he was crazy to rent to her again in the first place. The writers strike is over. I'm so looking forward to being able to watch "So Help me Todd" again. Glad you're getting some better sleep, I've made it to 5hrs straight so far.

Lav...wow, lots of notice for that hospital trip. Good luck getting going in the morning and I hope this gives YB some much needed relief. The winds have really picked up this afternoon, that storm off the west coast must be on it's way.

Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

Mae all -
No, I did not go to Compline? I had been to the downtown Cathedral already for early church, and did not have the energy to go again. Yesterday I worked at my job, and then actually relaxed in the evening by turning on the iPad. I pulled up Acorn (one of the Brit video spots) and started an Agatha Christie Mystery ?Ten Little Indians?. A fabulous period drama, acting superb, gorgeous setting; I highly recommend. It?s long, so I watched the end of it just now. Shocking ending!
Lav, I used to paint/do contracting work with a friends business when I was between jobs? but one timeI had a long-running revue and the guys needed me - to sand (I had my own palm sander). I sanded all day, went home and showered, then drove 40 minutes to the concert venue and did the 4-person revue of Irving Berlin songs. I loved that show! But I had to laugh, thinking how my glittery gown was such a switch from all the dust I had just washed off? 😆.
Wishing all well tonight - cheers,
