    Re: 1 October

    Greetings friends,

Decent day here although a touch too warm for me - 82 degrees. Second summer?
I had to take the almost 1 yr old cat ‘Dave’ to the Vet for a nail trim today. I ended bruising the top of my right hand trying to cram him into the cat carrier. Got to the Vet office, showed them my bruised had & told them he NEEDS to be sedated before I bring him back for anything so I went home with a bottle of gabapentin so I can knock his ass out before another office visit, Lol. Next week I’ll be taking other two in but don’t expect any problems with them.
I just checked my cosmos & see that I have white, pink & purple blooming but no multi color.

PQ, I used to come home from work & find the kitchen sink filled with dirty dishes & it really pissed me off haha. I can’t/won’t cook either under those conditions. That cyst on your liver has been there for a while, right? I’m aware of a few people with them & they haven’t developed into anything of concern. Always good to check that stuff out. Glad you got your meds at the right price enjoy your DF day next week.

Mick, I love the lighting on the castle, looks awesome! Hope you found a way to free up the trains.
Looks like we’re to be rain free until late Friday or Saturday. Then next week the temp will drop drastically, so they say.
So we’re without a Speaker of the house of Representatives since they bounced the bozo yesterday. Our politics are sounding more & more like yours, haha.

Hellos going out to Cyn, Slo, Pie, Wags & everyone.
    Have a nice night all!

      Re: 1 October

Well, we just got done with a vet appt. It was supposed to mostly be a wellness exam, with a little bit of focus on why our pupper has been having GI issues recently. During the exam, the vet found a couple of enlarged lymph nodes, which might or might not be an indication of lymphoma, or maybe (hopefully) just fighting off an infection She did some needle aspirations and will submit them for lab work, so please cross your fingers, paws and anything else ya got that we get a gentle result with a good prognosis.

Slo - sorry to hear about your daughter's break-up. I hope it works out for you to go visit this weekend and wrap her up with love.

Lav - it sounds like a very good idea to switch to a different dr for your husband's pain. I understand that pain is difficult for drs to treat, but what you've described really is ridiculous!

TG - I totally understand the difficulty with posting daily. I'm finding that hard to do too, mostly for the same "brain-is-a-wet-noodle" reason.

Mick - I'm just fascinated with your train setup and how detailed all of the pieces are. If I soften my eyes just a bit, it looks like an aerial view of a real rail yard/station and surrounding areas.

Hellos and waves Pie, PQ and everyone else I missed. Happy we're all over the hump!

        Re: 1 October

MAE ALL...well the madness continues, the accountant and the boss do not see eye-to-eye on an upcoming Beer Fest we're hosting. Things got pretty heated in his office this afternoon, I think he is getting pretty fed up with her. Another busy day for me and when the boss left, early, he said "Happy Thanksgiving, have a good weekend." I said the same back and then thought wait a minute it's only Wednesday. Apparently he's taking the next 2 days off. YAY

Mick...WOW, the castle lighting looks great. Sorry you had to take it all apart to rescue a stuck loco. The obnoxious plot holder is no more. LOL Now if we can get rid of the mother!!! You're not allowed to get snow before we do. Ha I was thinking about the dirty dishes on the way home from work too. One side of the sink has clean dishes in the drying rack, the other side is full of water and dirty dishes. If there's anything I hate more than dirty dishes on the counter it's dirty dishes in a sink full of dirty water. Not cooking again tonight. I sexually identify as a microwave meal! :applouse:

Lav...I might take your 82 degrees, it was 53F/12C today and tomorrow we're in for a whopping 39F/4C. We will be going down to below freezing tomorrow night and then bouncing back to 75F/24C for the weekend. Just crazy. Sorry about your bruised hand. Can you use the gabapentin on YB? Asking for a friend. LOL Yes, the cyst has been there for awhile and you're right it's always better to check things out. I won the lottery on DF days starting tomorrow. LOL

        Wags...
x.PNG Done! Hoping for your gentle result with a good prognosis.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

            Re: 1 October

            Good day, one & all:

I had a nice day with D1 and the three grandkids. Oh, that Cooper is an adorable wee mite! Such a busy boy, now that he can sit and use his hands, and he loves to bounce! He’s irresistible! Luckily his croup is pretty much done with, and an ear infection from it is better now with antibiotics.
2-year-old Mabel is talking a lot now, and 3 y/o Beckett never shuts up. I was glad to provide a meatloaf dinner for them, and be there so daughter could get a long nap in (her HB is out of town).

Do the boys make dinner some nights too, PQ? Good for you for insisting that they keep up with their own dishes.
Since you didn’t take an extra day off for Thanksgiving weekend, I guess Boss decided to take two off! You will enjoy that too!

I’m all set to go travel to see Young Daughter tomorrow: got Boyd booked into the pet hotel. Here she has a swim meet this weekend that I didn’t have written in my calendar, so I should be going anyways. And now I am!
I hope your dog is just fighting off an infection, Wags.

The train setup is remarkable, Mick; and fun to see. So are you helping with the carpet removal today?

I cut Boyd’s nails myself, Lav. It is a little dangerous though! I draw the line at brushing his teeth though. He would maul me.

Our temperature has dropped now into cooler Fall weather.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

              Re: 1 October

              Good evening friends,

It didn’t quite make 80 degrees today & a cold front will be moving in tomorrow so I’m happy
This whole day has blown by & I’m not sure what I managed to get done besides cooking dinner & cleaning up, oh well. At least I have turkey meatloaf leftovers for a few days.

Wags, I have my fingers crossed for you & your pup is he able to eat & move about?
Hang in there, we’re thinking of you.

PQ, enjoy your extended DF time, haha!! You deserve some peace & quiet too.
YB tells me he actually did take gabapentin the first time he went thru this nerve pain but it did nothing for him. I don’t know that for sure because that was back when he was on his own for a few years. I’m trying to encourage him to do some muscle stretching exercise, I think it would help.

Mick, I’m grateful for the poem, thank you
My hands & forearms bruise pretty easily but I hate walking around looking like a victim for no reason Lol
How do you transport your rabbits to the vet? Do you put them into a carrier like the cats use? Good luck with your weekend project. I think I’ll end up with a To Do list a mile long before anything gets done around here.

Slo, glad you enjoyed your day with the grandkids. Definitely sounds like a busy group!
All the years we had big dogs I trimmed their nails without a problem. I used to sit on the dog in the middle of the kitchen floor & just trim away. These cats are a little scarier for some reason, haha. I don’t brush anyone’s teeth but my own haha!!!

Hello to Cyn, hope you are doing well.
Hello to Pie, have you gotten rain?

Have a nice night one & all!

                    Greetings Abbers

The rain has just started which is fine if it actually brings the cooler & less humid air they promised.
YB actually went out to do an Amish driving job today. It was just taking 2 people to Lancaster for a day’s work, then picking them up & taking them home. He didn’t even get out of the truck he said. He’s slowly been losing h is mind sitting around here the past 6+ weeks, Lol

Mick, tearing up old carpeting makes my allergies go nuts. There’s always a good portion of dust under those things no matter how much you vacuum.
So your rabbits are happy travelers, that’s great. Dave needs to learn some damn manners haha!! He weighs 10 lbs but I felt like I was wrestling a heavyweight, geez.

Hello to all the gang, hope everyone is OK. May check back in later-ish to see what’s happening.
                    Have a nice night all.

                      Re: 1 October

MAE ALL...missed yesterday, I was just exhausted when I got home. I realized about noon today that our event on Saturday is a Client Permit Bar. They have to bring their own liquor, glasses, mix, liability insurance and the bartenders need a ProServe Certificate. So I thought I should check and see if the boss cleaned out the bar, ya nope. I emailed him, as he had been emailing me this morning, to ask him what his plans were but got no response. So the building super and I removed all the liquor, pop and beer and then had to figure out what to do with all the glasses. We put some of them in the kitchen storage and the rest in my office. I texted boss to tell him where everything was and he replied Oye, I forgot it was a client bar this weekend. You rock. Well that rock better come with another hefty raise.

Mick...I just laughed when you said it could have been worse, he could have wished me a Merry Christmas. LOL That's quite the project you've got going on. I didn't realize that you were cutting up the existing carpet, thought the carpet fitter would do that. Let's just wait and see if the heatwave actually materializes, if you'd booked your trip to Burrs it would have rained for sure. Both boys are home this weekend but I'm not cooking a Turkey. I might get brave and cook up some pork tenderloin.

Lav...you'd have to double the dose of gabapentin for sure. Have you had any success getting him to do some muscle stretching? I bet it was a relief to have him out of the house for awhile today. Did you get the cooler and less humid air? We're actually headed the other direction, it is currently 21C/70F, my perfect temperature. It's going to be a nice long weekend for a change, usually we have snow. I was thinking of popping over to the community centre on Saturday just to make sure everything is going ok but now have decided nope, let the facility staff figure it out or text the boss, I've done enough.

Slo...I'm glad Cooper is on the mend, they're so much more fun when they're healthy. I'm sure D1 was grateful you were there, I remember doing it all on my own. Yes, it's been nice not having the boss around for 2 days, everyone is just more relaxed, well except the accountant. LOL Younger son did a lot of the cooking if I supplied the food and he is my neat freak, always cleaning. Since he's gone back to work that doesn't happen as often. LOL I have a feeling older son is heading into another depression. He's been home for awhile now and there's been a lack of business meetings. He will let me know when he starts getting down, I always encourage him to talk about things.

Thinking of everyone else in the gang, hope you're all doing ok. Have a restful evening all...:smile:PPQP

                        Mae all -
Thanks for your patience with me? I just read back? I have no idea where the days on between have gone!?!?! I did fit a couple visits to my elder in, and squeezed in time to see my favorite oldie film , otherwise it has been work work work. Day off tomorrow, thank goodness, but 6 AM start on Sunday.
                        All will be well?
Mick, so happy that you are doing work on the train? I will go back and look at pics.
Lav, sorry about the attack cat and hurting your hand. I hope YB gets some relief soon - would he be open to acupuncture? Probably not. Fortunately it works wonders for me. Happy birthday to him, and glad you got some family time together. .Take care, and here?s hoping no bee stings!
SLO, so sorry about youngest daughter?s romantic woes, v. sad. poor thing. Glad you can be with her.
Wags, sending special wishes to with jokes that the vet will find out what is up with the pup, and all will be well. It?s a special kind of worry? hang in?

MAE all, and thanks for the well wishes for our pup. She's actually acting fine. We had a few days and nights recently where she was having some GI issues but those have cleared up and she seems her typical self in terms of energy and appetite. We were totally surprised by the enlarged lymph nodes - it's just two (popliteal ones) and they aren't real big or anything, so we're hoping fervently that she's just fighting something off. We won't know any lab results until mid- or late next week.

PQ - good job getting that stuff stashed away before tomorrow's rental. Definitely deserves another raise! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

TG - what *is* your favorite oldie film??? A 6am start for work on Sunday sounds rough. Glad you've got a day off beforehand.

                              MAE,

I put the cat carrier vertical, then drop Boyd into it, letting gravity help.
I couldn’t trim the last dog’s nails; they were too thick for me. Ex-HB probably could’ve done it, but he didn’t consider that his job -like most things. He insisted on always having a dog, but the care of the dogs fell to me.

I’m in a hotel room, and will leave shortly to go watch D4 swim. I watched her meet yesterday evening too. After that we will spend the afternoon together. She spent last evening with her team and her roommates.

I thought the carpet guy would cut the carpet out for you or at least with you, too, Mick. Nice floor underneath!

Well, that’s good that YB could get out a little and resume some duties, Lav.

PQ, that’s physically taxing for you to have to move all those bottles and supplies from the bar and squirrel it all away elsewhere. It sounds like when TG had to move all the frozen foods from the freezers at her volunteer job, and find new spots for it all!

Glad Pup is over it, Wags.

                              Gotta go!

                                Greetings friends,

Well the weather I ordered has finally arrived! High of 67 today & going down to 49 overnight, yay! This summer was way too long too hot for me.

Slo, I did have the carrier vertical & when I attempted to drop him in he put all 4 legs out & stopped the drop, haha. I kept trying to shove him in & he kept backing out. It was a ridiculous sh*tshow believe me. Sitting on top of the 90-100 lb dogs & trimming their nails worked out OK until I developed some arthritis in my hands then I had to give up. I hope your daughter is well & did well at her swim meet & you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Wags, glad your pup seems to be doing better. Keeping my fingers crossed for good test results. Are you having nice Fall weather too?

Cyn, wow you have been a busy girl!
I was just thinking about your elder the other day, wondering how she’s doing. Nice that you’ve seen her. So is it TJs getting you up so early on Sunday morning? Hope you can rest up before you go.

PQ, no I haven’t gotten YB to consider doing any of the suggested exercises. He’s been anti-exercise all his life & now he’s suffering for it. He went out on another Amish driving job this afternoon, stayed in the truck to avoid the temptation to do any lifting. He seems to be walking a bit better & his spirits have improved - a little, haha! I can’t believe you had to clear out the booze & glassware. You better get a humongous bonus this holiday season.
Happy Thanksgiving to you even if it is turkey-less

Mick, what are you up to today? Probably a lot as usual. Hope it was a good day.
