MAE ALL...well, that was a long busy day. Good that I have the winter programs all wrapped up because it was crazy with continual booking inquiries. All of them last minute and I wasn't able to book all of them. Accountant's 1/2 day off today and boss was at a workshop starting at noon so that was nice. Boss will be in early tomorrow for a board meeting. This is the one they approve the budget for this fiscal year, hoping he has a nice sized raise in there for me. LOL

Fly...good new about kitty. Wow, you've had a rough couple of days. No wonder you had a pounding headache. Hope kitty can come home soon. Sorry to hear about your MIL, falls are so hard on older people. I sure hope you and your hubby can get some rest tonight.

Slo...I was wondering how you managed to do all that. At least you can't be blamed for the sugar high. LOL You might be right about the supplements messing with you. Can you talk to your pain specialist about it?

TG...yes, sometimes life does work out well. How special was that! I would never be able to do shift work. I'm an early morning person and when I was working IT I didn't mind working nights but I could never do them together.

Lav...yes Lav, yes, all men are clueless. LOL Another trip in next week but it sounds promising cause he said even if he's feeling better. You are right, I would miss them if they moved out permanently. Younger son was flying standby and I told him if he ends up coming home to text me. When he asked me why I said because I might just actually lock the front door. They/we have lived here 21 years and have never locked the door. I don't think they even know where their keys are. If snow arrives this weekend it'll probably be a rain/snow mix. Can't have Mick beating me.

Pi...did you have any luck connecting with the possible adoptees over the weekend? Hope everything is going smoothly for you.

Sam...been thinking of you and wondering if you've been getting ready for winter.

One of the late renters asked if he could come by to see the room just as I was getting ready to leave. So I was late getting out of there, then had to do some running around, so I'm way behind schedule. I have decided to make scalloped potatoes for dinner, been craving them. Not sure what I'm having with them yet though. LOL

    Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

      Howdy!

Snow high up in the Blue Ridge mountains? That’s where I was for my niece’s wedding in June!

Lav, I see that both Philadelphia teams (baseball & football) are playing at the exact same time on TV tonight! What’s a Phillie fan to do!?
I can’t over-identify with teams and go into a tizzy over sports either.

Sleep is my super power! I was finally able to fall back to sleep this morning, despite the usual 4 am awakening, and then slept ‘til 7! My appetite is under control today with enough sleep.

PQ, I dropped both of the new supplements now. First the New Zealand green-lipped mussels stuff for joints (blech), and last night I skipped the other one with magnesium in it plus a bunch of other stuff, and went back to my usual magnesium supplement.
I used to make scalloped potatoes with ham when I had a family to feed.

Fly, yay for your kitty coming through surgery. My 16 y/o cat was critically ill in March. Thankfully he made a good recovery.
Oh dear, that’s a lot for your MIL. No wonder she fell. She lives in Florida too? A neighbor gave me a ride to the condo association meeting tonight and, after finding out that she’s 88 years old, realized that I should have offered to drive! Because by the time the meeting ended, we were driving home in the dark.
I don’t worry about my grandkids’ sugar intake. Usually it’s not that much, and he has rarely consumed soda in his life. I just found it interesting that he’s, well, too much like his grandma! -with his exaggerated, euphoric response to the sugar & such.

Mick, like your trapped muscle by the femur: the alternative pain specialist examined my knee today, did a “popliteal release” that took less than a minute -and my knee pain and function is at least 50% improved!
Hope the way home through Manchester didn’t take quite that long.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Busy day here - two long classes and a long overdue haircut for me! It might sounds funny, but I feel more like myself again now that I have my short hair back. Our pup isn't feeling well again but I'm hoping we'll have an easy night and get good sleep. Like some of you have been discussing, lack of sleep makes it harder to do and/or deal with almost everything!

Fly - so happy to hear your kitty made it through surgery. Hopefully she'll have a smooth homecoming and an easy recovery. Your MIL getting her UTI resolved should help with at least some of the things that have been challenging for her. I'm sorry for you and your husband, as well as your MIL, that you're all going through this. Nothing easy about parenting an aging parent.

Mick - hope the bunny jabs went well and that traffic wasn't as bad as it sounded like you anticipated

Lav - fingers crossed your husband gets some relief from the knee injection (or wherever they really put it!)

PQ - so sorry to hear about the asst director's grandchild

Slo - like everyone else, I also thought you had done all those outings with your grands all by yourself! Hope your week is going well so far.

Hellos and waves to TG, Pie, and everyone else. Happy over-the-hump day to all!

Hello everyone and how are we today then question mark hope everyone is doing good. We are awaiting the new storm that is supposed to be coming in today storm babbitt or something like that haven't occlue who chooses these crazy names, but it is definitely on the way it is really sunny over here at the moment but very very windy. Julie was going up to see her dad in the care home today but can't get in apparently about seven or eight of them have got covid, that could only have been brought in by a visitor so there are no visits until at least Monday. She has the option to phone her dad, but that won't be happening her dad is not very techy minded exclamation

Hiya lav how are you today then? all men are useless are they haha. The journey with the rabbits yesterday went okay both were completely checked over and got their vaccinations however Bonnie is starting to turn into an old lady her eyes are starting to show signs of age the vet said. That was after he relieve me of 160 pounds for two injections. Good money if you can get it! Just listening to the news now and some places in Britain have got a red weather warning starting tonight for tomorrow as well.

Hiya wags hope all is well with you my friend. The jabs went well comma at that price they should have put them in with needles! Must be honest the traffic wasn't quite as bad as I thought on the way home. Hope you have a great day mate

Hiya flyaway. Glad the kitten is ok.is he/she getting out today?thats fair age. My rabbits cope well with the cold simply because they are never really in it the pair of them have decided they live in the conservatory but sleep in a hutch in the garage that has got underfloor heating virtually and lighting and some mug comes and brings them food Argyle literally sits there eating getting rid eating getting rid in one box full of Meadow Hay all the time fingers cross for you and your little friend take care look after yourself

Hiya ppqp how are you today then? Hope all is well over there and the boss has brought a big bag of money in for you exclamation mark sorry to hear about the little girl, her family must be traumatized don't worry about beating me in regards to the snow you can certainly have that Honor as far as I'm concerned! I certainly won't get hung up about that one hope you have a good day now that you have finished the winter program it's time to rest easy I suspect(not)

Hiya slo how are you today? Hopefully all is OK over there with you glad your knee has improved..certainly worth a second opinion.

Right folks time to go..storm coming.. days gone by we would say it's a bit windy today but now it has turned into storm with its own name take care of

              Re: 15th octomber

              Good evening friends,

Same weather here, I’m good with it too! Saturday is our predicted storm day, I can wait.
YB seems to be moving about better today & even drove one of his Amish customers a few places. Keeping fingers crossed. One of his Amish friends has just found out he’s diabetic. Now his wife won’t let him eat anything, says he’s starving, poor guy. I’ve printed up some useful info about diabetes & meal planning for him. They really don’t get much help in the medical department because they refuse to go to real doctors, sigh.

PQ, busy days go faster, right?
We have some many burglaries here in cow county primarily due to the drug users looking for money. Our doors are always locked & the alarm system is on & I have a noisy dog lol. Speaking of alarm systems our alarm company called me at 4:57 this morning to let me know the battery in the system is getting low & needs to be changed, haha. I went back to sleep afterwards but geez. Tell your sons to find their keys & stay safe. Hope you don’t get sn*w!

Slo, the Phillies won big last night 10-0 all because I didn’t watch them, Lol
Thought about you this morning when I ordered a knee compression sleeve for myself. I get up with a sore achy knee every morning so I hope this helps a bit. Onecompress™ | Premium Compression For a Better You in case you want to take a look. Hope your day was good!

Wags, nothing makes me happier than a haircut
Hope everything is OK with your pup & you had a good night.

Mick, you misunderstood: men are definitely useful, they’re just clueless Lol. I just don’t understand why they don’t pay attention to important things like people sticking needles into their bodies.
Our current vet doesn’t seem to overcharge for services but that could always change. I see they are putting an addition onto the back of their office so that’s going to have to be paid for at some point. I agree the storm namers are ridiculous. I hope Babbitt decides to go elsewhere & not bother you.

Hellos to Cyn who has been busy but says she’s OK, Pie, Sam, FlyAway & everyone.
              Have a good night all!

                Re: 15th octomber

MAE ALL...it was a crazy busy day. Had a 3hr meeting this morning with the programmer who's working on our new Customer Relations Management system. Boss has got some optimistic time lines but I know it's not going to be as simple as he thinks. One plus was they can import my current programs into the new system so I don't have to recreate them. That'll save a lot of time. I'll just take it one day at a time.

Slo...good job on getting your sleep sorted out. Wow, the popliteal release seemed to do a lot of good. Is that something you can have done again?

Wags...hope you had an easy night last night. I totally agree about the hair cut, I feel the same way.

Mick...we had summer like weather today and it'll continue tomorrow. It'll just make it harder to deal with the upcoming snow prediction. Sorry Julie's Dad's home care is in lock down. Does she know if he got covid? I'm glad I got the winter programs finished when I did since the rental inquiries have exploded again.

Lav...got my fingers crossed for you too, hope this means things will get better. The Amish friend couldn't have a better neighbour than you when it comes to medical/health advice. I'm sure the wife will appreciate the information. Nice that your alarm company called to let you know about the battery but really 4:57am! Must have been the exact time when it switched from good to needs replacing. Came home to all the devices flashing 12:00, 12:00, 12:00. Thought there must have been a power failure till I saw a notice on the table that our electrical meter had been replaced.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. I'm exhausted so am going to relax. Have a nice night all....:smile:PPQP

                  Hi all,

What a nightmare the last couple days have been. In lieu of the long story, the short story is that my cat let out a wail at 2am that woke me up, then peed out a pool of blood. She's back in the hospital which is anywhere from a 45 minute to an hour drive one way. My mother in law was going downhill yesterday. The doctor's hands are really tied with regard to what they can give her. A medication to help one thing will hurt something else. I'm too tired to type more right now. I hope you all have a good day.

Hiya everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing well. Last night we had terrible winds nor not me the weather, and it has been raining pretty hard this morning. It has no stopped although more as scheduled for later on today and tonight I saw on the news that there is a town in Scotland being evacuated because they think the riverbanks are going to burst. I hope just finished shampooing and dry cleaning all the carpets in the house. That machine gives off some heat! Was playing with my camera earlier on it is a case of getting used to it however some of the pictures and the distance are absolutely fantastic here is a picture I took of a magpie sitting in a tree probably at 400 yardsDSCN0042.jpg

And this is a pic of a shorthorn on the very top of the hills facing the house

                    DSCN0050.jpg

I've still got to get used to it after all I've only had it two or three days! But it really interests me.
Hiya fly ..you are going through the mill..sorry to hear about the kitten and your mil.I know its difficult, but try and stay positive..we are thinking of you

Hiya lav and how are you doing today then question mark hope everything is going okay over there. when you say the Phillies won do you mean the Eagles? We are watching a series at the moment on television called we belong to Wrexham, and it has an affiliation to the Eagles they actually wear now the same colored strip thanks to Rob mcinerney and his sidekick. How is YB today? Are things any easier for him? I am just about to start cutting back my fuchsia to over winter them how is Dave the mad doing?

Hiya ppqp sounds like you have had a pretty busy time as well! In amongst all his wanderings about briefings and ramblings did the boss not mention anything about extra money for you? You are just rubbing in now about the sunshine. Yes Julie's dad has got covid I think there are about eight or nine of them but at the moment the strain they have doesn't seem as serious as it was in the past thank goodness. Take and hope you have a good day

Right folks off to put everything back...take care

                      Mae all -
Long day yesterday with the Homeless Meals, meeting to get my Coronary notes (finally), had a crown put on an ancient filling (23 years) and an 'emergency' (but not really) drop by for my elder... she's lonely and not eating, and I get over there when I can to fix her a hot meal...

Sounds like a lot of life happening for all - Mick, love the camera capabilities (and the great rabbit pics, and the jokes). Lav, anxious to hear how things went with the latest Jab for yb. SLO - it sounds like to had a little relief from pain? I hope that continues. PPQ - busy as ever, it sounds like - and I laughed about the boys not carrying keys... I use my keys every day... probably don't need to but... Fly, what a trauma to go through - it is so hard to have our sweet companions be so terribly sick, good luck - Mick, I hope that Julie's dad rallies with the Covid... so sorry that it happened. Wags, hoping the shots work...
I am wearing a mask at work... one of the few people... but I don't care - it gives some protection, which is better than nothing - it's a small store, and gets absolutely jam-packed with folks at rush hour... crossing fingers...

Cheers to all, and sending strength to all for these jam-packed days - TG

                        MAE All,

I'll spare you the details, but new foster dog, who isn't housetrained, is requiring a lot of attention in setting up and cleaning up his area. Adding to the fun are my own two dogs, both experiencing intestinal upset. Fingers crossed that meds obtained from the veterinarian today work quickly.

Dental implants were completed yesterday. Pretty sure that this will be my last elective procedure. Ever. The icing on that cake came when I heard the dentist ask for his torque wrench. Mick, how you managed to conjure the physical and mental stamina to complete this process on a much greater scale than I did, is staggering to imagine.

Anyone else distressed by events in the news these days? How is it that in 2023, we're still bombing each other to settle our differences? Is the upside that climate change wont matter much once we blow everyone to smithereens?

On a positive note ... Hmm, I'm fresh out of positive notes. Well, except that we don't drink anymore.

                          Good evening friends,

Pie, I’m in complete agreement with you, good that we don’t drink anymore. Sounds like you’re up to your eyeballs in doggie stuff, sorry.
My dentist mentioned the possibility of an implant a few visits ago & I told him to stop thinking about it, it’s not going to happen, Lol
I know I don’t want to go through all that, blessings to you  The current events are truly distressing, absolutely. What kind of world will be be leaving for the young ones, so sad,

Cyn, good that you’re masking up, better safe than sorry. I see a lot of people masking here too.
Has your elder’s family made any plans for moving her to a more suitable & safer environment yet? They really shouldn’t put it off, she would be happier in the long run. YB is moving about today without the crutch & I haven’t heard any moaning yet so I guess that’s progress. Take good care.

FlyAway, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all that. Just know we’re thinking about you & with in spirit.

Mick, glad you’re enjoying the new camera, great pics. Nothing like having a closeup of a huge hairy beast haha!
I hope Julie’s Dad recovers quickly, that’s a shame but almost expected in group settings these days. Yes, the Phillies baseball team won big & will be playing the next few games in Arizona where the daytime temps are >100 still, ugh. The Eagles football team has had a good season so far. I’m usually working in my shop & not sitting in front of the TV when these games are on. Dave the madman is fine & staying away from me unless it’s mealtime haha.

PQ, in the old days a guy actually came out to each house to do a monthly meter reading. These days they don’t have to do that so it’s a surprise when someone shows up at your house. All of the clocks in my house have a different time on them I swear. The Amish guy was very grateful for the printouts, I just hope his wife reads the info too & realizes that he NEEDS to eat more proteins & less fat & carbs. We’ll see what happens. Glad your work stuff is mostly under control

Slo, hope your day was good. I just read the east coast should expect a lot of snow this winter but not much in the midwest. Shouldwe place bets on that? Haha!!

Hello to anyone dropping by & wishing everyone a nice night!

                            MAE all-

Glad it’s the weather and not you that’s windy, Mick!
Your new camera sure can capture from far away! And a nice crisp shot of the rabbits up close.
This is a 10th opinion that I’m getting on my chronic pain & limiting mobility issues; not a second opinion.

I asked for and got another “popliteal release” on my knee today, PQ! The effect of the first one lasted for a day.
Setting up that new computer system at work sounds challenging.

Oh no, Fly! I was hoping your kitty would have an uneventful recovery. Poor baby. You are really going through it with two sick ones at the same time.

I feel relieved for YB that his chronic pain issue is a little better, Lav. Thanks for the recommendation for the knee sleeve. It looks good -and it’s for night use! I just might get one too, and add it to my collection. I don’t have one for night use.

I can see why you’re choosing to wear a mask, TG; since it’s a small, crowded store.

Pie, yes, it seems so barbaric in 2023 that these wars are still breaking out on our small planet.
A couple other people on MWO (like Mick) have gone through that lengthy & painful dental implant procedure. That’s how I am familiar with it.

Were you growing your hair out longer intentionally, Wags?

I took the long but scenic drive up & down to D1’s house to help with those three grandkids yesterday. Beckett is so whiny & has so many temper & screaming fits that it’s annoying. Daughter was getting on my nerves too. Mabel is getting really good at potty training! Now if only her big brother could nail it. Cooper is a living doll -8 months old today!

                            Time for my show!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

                              Re: 15th octomber

MAE ALL...much quieter day at work so was able to start playing around with the new software. Already found a clitch, the programmer is going to be sick of me before we get this all up and running.

Fly...sorry to hear your kitty isn't recovering as we'd hoped. A 2am scream would have scared the daylight out of me. Sorry it's so far to the animal hospital. And on top of that you have your MIL to worry about. I hope you were able to get some rest today.

Mick...is this the beginning of the Babbit storm coming in? Those winds can cause a lot of damage, hope you have everything battened down. The rain I think you're used to. LOL Aren't those new carpets? Didn't mean to rub the sunshine in, rest assured things are changing quickly. Sunday we will be below freezing with snow and it's to last all week. Thought Julie's Dad may have got it, I'm glad this covid strain isn't as bad as it has been. There won't be any mention of a raise until November, but it would be retroactive to September. Early camera pics look great, you'll have a lot of fun figuring everything out.

TG...it does sound like you had a long day yesterday. I really wish the elder's family would step up, like Lav says, she'll be much happier. I have never stopped wearing my mask out in public. The only place I don't wear it is in my office.

Pi...that's too bad that the new rescue dog needs so much attention and on top of it your dogs have intestinal issues. Sounds like a lot of "cleaning" going on in your house. Got my fingers crossed for the meds for you too. The news has been very upsetting and like you I can't believe it is still going on. I think that's a great positive note.

Lav...I remember those days. LOL Living in a condo all our meters are on the outside of the building. Had a call from the company one day asking me to take a reading and I said well if you tell me where it is I'll go read it. LOL All the clocks at work have a different time. Whenever I'm taking minutes in a meeting I always state the time and room we're in. LOL Sounds like YB is making some progress.

Slo...hope the popliteal release lasts longer than a day this time. Yes, getting everything set up will be challenging and I'm glad I can start now. Need it up and running for February, which will be here before I know it. Hope Beckett gets over his whinny/temper tantrums soon, it can be exhausting. Are you still watching Young Sheldon?

Shout out to anyone I missed. Time to organize dinner. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

MAE all, and sorry to have missed posting yesterday. I taught classes until about 5pm, and less than 30 mins after finishing we got a text from a dear friend letting us know she was at the emergency vet and facing the difficult decision to have her beloved dog put to sleep. We dropped everything and went down to be with her and her sweet pup as he crossed the rainbow bridge. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is SO heartbreaking. This particular pup lived a very full life and went downhill very suddenly, so the bright side is no prolonged suffering.

I'm sorry to hear that several others are having hard weeks.

Fly - I hope your kitty turns the corner toward healing very quickly. And your MIL too.

Mick - I'm so sorry to hear of the covid in Julie's dad's home. I hope he rides this out with no problem.

Pie - sounds like you have your hands full with all of those pups!

Slo - that popliteal release sounds amazing. Hope you start getting relief that lasts longer than one day. I mostly grew my hair long during the first year of covid and then hemmed and hawed over whether to go back to short after "all that work" growing it out. The in-between lengths are such a hassle, and I just wanted to be sure I wanted it short again. And then somehow another year went by! I'm so happy I got it cut short again.

PQ - software glitches are frustrating, but hopefully it'll be an easy fix for the programmer, like just tweaking a line of code or something similar. Glad you had a quieter day!

TG - I don't blame you at all for wearing a mask at TJs. In our city, they were the very best at organizing the flow of customers and enforcing mask requirements without setting off the anti-maskers (quite an accomplishment actually!).

Lav - glad your husband seemed to get some relief from Tue's procedure. Enjoy your weather!

Ok, sorry if I missed anyone but my sleep-deprived brain is exhausted and I'm heading to bed. Take care all. May tomorrow bring us all better days!
