    22nd October

Hi friends, starting us off this week with some words from Annie Grace.
? As the years go by one thing has become abundantly clear to me. Life is not just a single destination but a gratifying and never-ending journey. Often, we initially set out with a specific goal in mind, such as freeing ourselves from the grip of alcohol, and we think that will be what completes our life and our fulfillment. However, as we move forward, we discover that will never be enough.

What we are truly doing here is learning how to craft an intentional life, one that resonates deep inside us. This journey is like being perpetual students, with the world as our classroom. We open ourselves up to learning from every facet of life, whether it's through the wisdom of others, careful observation, dedicated research, or even the valuable lessons born from our own trials and errors.

Yes, we may kickstart this adventure by bidding adieu to alcohol, but remember, this journey has more than one stop planned. It's a continuous exploration of self-discovery and growth that lasts a lifetime.?

And some words from Mick because we posted at the same moment.
? Good afternoon all and how are we today then question mark hope everyone is doing well. At the moment the storm has gone however in parts of the country it's really has left a mess I'm looking out of the window at the moment and one side is absolutely pitch black the other it is nice and sunny so I'm heading for the sunny side! Going to take the camera out again today come on do a few more pictures and get you stood. The trouble is, when you buy something like this there are all sorts of books and tutorials on YouTube so you end up scrambling your head up if you listen to them all so I am just going to do my own thing. Apart from that having a pretty quiet day, it is certainly a lot colder now and what makes it even worse is I went to the shops earlier on and you ain't gonna believe this one they were playing Christmas carols! Absolutely crazy and we're still in July! Okay so I'm behind the times but so what hope everyone is doing okay and that you have a great weekend take care have a good one?

      Good evening friends,

I KNEW it wasn’t November (but checked to be sure) haha!!!
Happy Sunday all regardless of the date. We had a sunny & cool day. Perfect

Pie, I’ve thought about the points you brought up many times over the past 15 years. Kicking. AL out was the first & most important step for sure. I love that we can now be intentional in our future life plans & be the people we always wanted to be. Thanks for posting that

Mick, you tried to confuse with the date but Pie was right there to set us straight.
Glad the storm has moved out of your area, hope the damage is minimal. It never got as windy here as was predicted this weekend & I’m OK with that.

Cyn, I’m sure that opera brought up a lot of emotions for you. I hope your day wasn’t too tiring or stressful. Nice to fill in for the young guy.

Pie, Slo, PQ & everyone - hello!

      Have a nice night all!

        Re: 22nd October

MAE ALL...Friday was a busy day with a Celebration of Life booking in the afternoon. 150 people turned out to be 250 and there was no way they were going to be finished on time. Boss had told me to finish up and leave an hour early so I did. LOL Saturday was my running around day starting with an optometrist appointment, I need new glasses to pass my driver license renewal in December, Covid and flu shots took about 11/2 hrs, and upgraded my phone from a 6 to a 23! I hate upgrading my phone but a lot of the apps I need, ie. insurance wouldn't load, so bit the bullet. Still trying to configure everything out. ugh! Youngest son returned from Montreal to announce that several of the coworkers have tested positive for Covid. He has a sore throat and feels ache but has tested negative. Just what I need.!!

        Copying Mick's post here...

          Re: 22nd October

Pi...my apologies, you already reposted Mick's post. Your post really hit home for me. I come from a family of 8 siblings who are all basically alcoholics. When my younger sister announced to one of my older (recovering alcoholic) brother that she had quit drinking he said that's great but you're just a sober alcoholic. She hadn't committed to an intentional life. I haven't been part of her life for 12 years now so don't know where she is now.

Mick...you're getting to be an expert with that camera! Great pictures! I hear you about books, tutorials, videos...I'm going crazy figuring out my new phone, and I'm not computer illiterate! LOL There was a news item about the sea foam caused by storm Babet, unreal!

Lav...we had a cool and sunny day too, but have had nothing but alerts and warnings about the emanate cold front and snowfall warning arriving tonight. Younger son is staying home tomorrow, just because he can, so I'll be dealing with the snow in the morning. It's about 7:30pm and all looks calm out there so maybe it's just hype. Will let you know tomorrow.

Sorry for not responding to everyone, just know that you're always in my thoughts. Hove a good night...:smile:PPQP

Wags, congrats on securing a couple of good new students, and for expanding your business into giving seminars!!
I think Daughter’s swim team did well. They seemed to place at least third in most heats, out of about 8 teams. Daughter was on a break from swimming her usual very long distance events for this meet, and did well in the 100 Back and just fine in the 50 Free. I cut out of there after her events were done. I wish I enjoyed watching sports competitions, but I just don’t much.

TG, watching that opera had to be so very emotional on so many levels. No wonder it left you worn out. I hope you got the “middle” shift at work today!

Mick, no! It is too early for Christmas music!
It sounds like the right move to get to know your camera by yourself first through playing around with it and experimenting, before turning to tutorials.

PQ, a 6 to a 23?! I went from a 6S to a 12 last on iPhone. And long May it last -next new phone will be on my own nickel.
Young Sheldon is still my show, until I finish burning through the episodes. It usurped CBS Sunday Morning this morning!
            You definitely don’t need COVID.

PIE, thanks for the food for thought. We can’t grow until we get the monkey off our backs. Then the real work starts.

It was cold here too, Lav, yet a beautiful, crisp sunny day.

I took it easy today while catching up with things. Tomorrow is Huxley day. He was slayed by way too many vaccinations at one time on Friday morning, and has been quite feverish (102-103*) and subdued all weekend. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

“That’s just simple thievery,” the Irishman replied. “I’ll show you how to do it the honest way and get the same results.”
The Irishman then proceeded to call out the owner of the bakery and says: “Sir, I want to show you a magic trick.” The owner was intrigued so he came over to see the magic trick.
The Irishman asked him for a bun and then he proceeded to eat it. He asked two more times and after eating them again the owner says: “Okay my friend, where’s the magic trick?”
The Irishman then said: “Look in the Englishman’s pockets.”

                Re: 22nd October

                Good Monday evening friends,

Mick, is it really Tuesday over there?? Lol
Great pics, especially the moon. Craters & all, very nice. We have our first frost warning for tonight, heading down to 36 degrees. The water container in the chicken house will probably freeze because I can’t reach the warmer plate. YB stores everything up so high I can’t reach & he can’t help right now, oh well. He’s heading back to the pain specialist tomorrow, I may sit this one out. I need time to get some crafty things done, haven’t had a minute to myself.

Slo, I hope you had a good day with a healthy Huxley.
I couldn’t sit at all those sports competitions either, don’t feel bad you have company.

PQ, you’re quite busy these days & dodging Covid too, geez. I hope your son remains negative, lots of folks have plain old head colds right now.
I have an iPhone 12 too- not really impressed with it either. Tired of buying these things.

Cyn, you’re working this evening? I hope it’s an easy shift for you.

Pie, hope you’re OK with the dogs & everything else. I’m in touch with someone who may be willing to foster these kittens in my garage & I hope to trap the mama to get her spayed.

FlyAway, hope you & your cat are doing OK. MIL too.

Wags, I forgot to say congrats on the 2 new students, hope it all works out for you.

We got word today that our former elderly neighbor passed last night. Her dementia just got worse & worse & had been in a nursing home for several years. We have lots of good memories.
Hello to anyone I may have missed & wishing everyone a good night.

                  Re: 22nd October

MAE ALL...we are under a Snow Fall Warning. Was expecting to wake up to a foot of snow but we had freezing rain all night. There was an inch layer of ice covering the car, took me over 1/2hr to scrape it all off. It was a rain snow mix all morning and then turned to straight snow. It's supposed to continue until tomorrow afternoon and the temps have dropped to -10C/14F. Hopefully it'll be easier to brush off the car in the morning. Winter has arrived!

Slo...unless I know someone in the event I'm not interested either. I hope Huxley was feeling better for your visit today.

Mick...well it looks like we all passed. LOL Great pics, you're going to have so much fun with the new camera. I'm glad Julie was able to go see her Dad. Son is still negative, just came downstairs to ask how he could quit without actually quitting. I said isn't that called Quiet Quitting. He's not going into work tomorrow either. Got enough on my phone to be able to use it but there's still more to be done. Still haven't transferred everything over, may just back it up to our server instead.

Lav...probably a good idea not to go to the specialist with YB. If he isn't going to talk to you it's not worth it, as long as YB can drive himself. I'm an android user myself, I don't like all the proprietary software on the iPhone. I'm hoping this is the last phone I purchase. You be careful if you try getting that warming plate. Maybe your son or grandson can help. I remember when your elderly neighbour moved into the nursing home. I'm glad you have good memories.

The printer at work decided it would keep dropping off the network today. I could reboot it and it'd work for a little while then drop again. My IT guy is coming at 8am so it'll be an early start, especially if I've got 2ft of snow to brush off the car. Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

good morning all...how are we doing today then? hope all is well...spent a long time last night listening to the police helicopter over the hills behind and to the side of us ..not sure what that was about ,but they were hovering for ages ,flew off then came back. Was going to reseal the rest of the window frames on the back of the house today ..I did the kitchen one yesterday took a while but tbh that side takes the brunt of the weather .Anyway job cancelled its pouring down with rain.

hiya ppqp ...how are you doing?did you get the snow?glad son is negative.Julie took her dad out yesterday .So you have mastered the basics of the phone ?well done ..there is so much to them that I dont think anyone ever realises the full potential.I use an android phone ,I once had an i phone ...and we didnt get on too well.....best ofluck with the printer ..

hiya Lav ,hope yb gets on at the pain specialist ok today...we had a decent frost yesterday morning ...glad I drained the water in the van off..Yes dementia is a horrible disease ...Julie saw her dad ,he didnt even know she hadnt been ,,its heartbreaking ,but he lives for the moment ..That poem I wrote about it sums it up exactly .
fingers crossed you get owners for the kittens .

hiya Slo ...how was Huxley day? hope all went well.

PQ, I?m gobsmacked at hearing your freezing weather report! Drinking morning coffee out on my patio before sunrise, in 75 muggy degrees. Other than Mick hogging all the rain, mosquitoes are most troublesome outdoors issue

Lav, thought of you last evening as I tuned in to the game 7 of the ALCS baseball playoffs. Astros fell to the other Texas team, so now I shall be rooting for your Phillies.

Medicine from vet worked quickly to get things squared away with my pups. Yes, likely stress from having new dog around knocked them off balance. Thinking the foster boy will be with us for awhile. Pure innocence stares back at me when I see his little face. I hate that his psyche was damaged by humans, and wish to help him overcome at least some of the fear he lives with.

Early voting has started so will head to a polling place today. Printed a sample ballot, did some research, and marked my choices for mayor, controller, and city council positions.

                        Re: 22nd October

                        Good morning everyone!

I thought I skipped a day, but reading back it looks like I skipped more than one! Time flies. Been up to my eyeballs with sick kitty stuff, although she's doing okay. My other two cats are acting a little put off by her, one more than the other. She's wearing a quite fashionable surgical suit, which is kind of like a bodysuit, to keep her from licking her incision. She was having a hard time with the cone when she came home, so I put the outfit on her. She kind of wobbles around like she just got off a horse with her legs spread a little too far apart and I think it scares my other cat. He hisses and runs when she comes teetering around a corner. I'm slowly peeling the meds away from her and I no longer have to wake up throughout the night. Back to sleeping in my own bed, hallelujah.

Mick, your photos are astounding! I love the photos of the moon. Not sure how you take those.

Pie, thank you for your beautiful and thoughtful opening words to this week's thread. I'm looking at 70 degrees right now with a high of 83 today. I'll take it!

Lav, hope YB gets some relief from his pain and that your chickens get water!

PG, did you get your Covid and flu shots at the same time? My doctor won't do both together but I'd prefer a one and done appointment. I'm considering breaking down and getting real glasses for the first time in my life. Been mucking along with readers, but notice that I'm not seeing as clearly as I used to when I'm driving now. Hope you aren't snowed and iced in. That will be something I dread when I move back north.

Slo, I so understand your feelings of apathy towards sports! Lol

                          Re: 22nd October

Mae all - like Fly, I seem to be losing days (maybe weeks!). Hello to all -
Mick, astounding pics, so glad that you are doing your art through photography!
Pie - weirdly, our temps are also in the 70s today - but the frost/snow comes tomorrow. Your description of the new pup is so heartbreaking - but you will win he/her over! Thank you for doing that work...
Lav - as said before, good luck with the cat settlement and the water for the chickens. I hope you can do just as much embroidery as suits you - no stress!
Wags - so you might be able to do Seminars? That sounds wonderful... hope it works out.
SLO - wow, you have attended an awful lot of sports events for someone who doesn't love them... good mama!
PPQ - Sheesh! That's a lot of early snow. I hope your son recovers soon, and that he never tests positive! Good luck with the phone.
Am I forgetting someone? So sorry if so... I seem to have CRS disease ("can't remember sh*t...")
Thank you to whomever posted the Annie Grace quote... love her... she was out in front with the science of addiction, and she's a great positive change-maker...

I am hanging in at work. the 5-day routine is not an every-week thing... couldn't sustain that. But I'm bouncing back pretty well. Trying to figure out when to get my shots... It will take at least a day for me to recover (if history serves...) so I'm a little worried about not having 2 days off to recover. But we shall see...

Cheers to all, thanks for your friendship...

                            Greetings friends,

Woke up to a chilly 36 degrees but it warmed up nicely. Temps will be climbing all week, maybe up to 80!!!
YB got himself to the doc & back today & got another steroid injection in the knee where the pain seems to have settled. He at least talked this pain guy into speaking with the regular doc so next week there may be some changes in the wind. We shall see

PQ, I can’t believe you’re getting all that snow already, sorry. Stay safe please
Hope the printer stuff got straightened out at work. We are mostly iPhone users, my daughter & her husband are android only. It all works out!

Mick, glad you decided to leave the window work for a drier day. Nothing makes me crazier than YB getting on a ladder in the middle of a storm to clear out a clogged gutter, ugh. Yep, my old neighbor’s son said he had pretty much stopped going to visit his mom, she just wasn’t really ‘there’. It’s so sad & I hope we can do better to prevent this in the future.

Pie, sounds like you’re getting control of the doggie situation, good for you.
Watching the Phillies lose last night was sad, hopefully tonight’s game will be much better. The citizens of Philly are ready to PARTY, Lol

FlyAway, you have been busy too but it sounds like things are improving for you & your kitty. The bodysuit was a good idea, I hate those stupid collars.
Don’t worry about snow up here, we really had none at all last winter, things are changing thanks to climate change.

Cyn, I actually did get a little embroidery done this afternoon. Trying to add a few winter?Christmas pillows to my stock
I did get my flu & covid vaccines together in September, had nothing but a slightly sore arm. Get it done asap so you’re covered. Glad the work schedule is easing up a bit for you.

Slo, hope your day was good.

Hello to anyone else dropping by tonight. Have a nice night all!

MAE ALL...no freezing rain overnight but had 6 inches of snow on top of the car. A lot easier to brush off. Printer is fixed. IT guy comes in and says let's look at the printer first. Rebooted it and showed him the error message "there is a competing IP connected". Went into my office to check out the network settings and he said the printers' IP address is now assigned to "PQ's Phone". OMG I said, so now do I have to tell everyone to log off of wifi when they come into the office? He said no, he got the server to assign an IP address for the printer so now it won't be available to anyone else. I just found it all hilarious.

Mick...did you ever find out what the police were looking for? Cancelling the reseal was a good call. Oh ya, we got the snow. Although we were under a snowfall warning most of the day there was very little in the NW. It's done now for a few days and we're above freezing by Sunday. It seems we always get a dump of snow before Halloween.

Pi...we were at 22C/71F last week and then bam. Mother nature kind of gives us a wake up call, winter's coming. I'm glad the medicine has sorted out the pups, who needs to be dealing with that! I thought foster boy would be around for awhile, so glad he's got you.

Fly...I hear you about time flying, it surely does. So glad to hear that kitty is improving and that you can now sleep in your bed again. That's funny that she scares the other cat, she must be feeling a little superior right now. LOL Yup, I got both shots at the same time but he wouldn't do them in the same arm. Said it was too hard on the muscle. I have never had a reaction to the shots. I ordered new (distance) glasses this weekend. I'm supposed to wear them for driving but the lenses are so old that they're foggy and I see better without them. My drivers license renewal comes up on Jan 5 and I figured I had cataracts in both eyes and wouldn't get in for surgery until after my renewal. The optometrist agreed that the lenses in my glasses were no good anymore but that the cataract in my left eye wasn't ready for surgery. So that was good news. I did need a new prescription for that eye so at least I'll be legal again when I drive. LOL

TG...I'm going to steal your CRS disease. I think that's what the accountant is inflicted with. LOL Glad to hear that the 5-day work thing is not the norm. You plan your time for those shots.

Lav...that's good news that YB actually got the pain dude to talk to his regular doctor. That may help a lot. I'm with Mick in that I never got along with an iPhone. LOL I popped out today to fill up the gas tank and was banging the windshield wiper on the windshield, to break off the ice, and the end popped off. So the rubber at the end of the blade flops around. Great! Concerned that it would scratch the windshield I finally convinced oldest son to go look at it. He said yup, it's broken. Gee, thanks a lot! I just want to be able to go to work in the morning and he said well I could drive you and then replace the wiper blades. I'll make him commit to it before I go to bed tonight.

Slo...are you still with Huxley? How is he doing?

Time to get dinner on the table. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP
