    05 November

Wait what??? Am I really the first to start the new thread for this week? I know I could not connect with this site yesterday so maybe you all had the same trouble earlier today? Or I missed the real new thread???

Anyway, here's to the start of another great sober week. Hope everyone is doing well. We had a wonderful visit with two dear friends who were here from out of town today (two that we rode bikes across Italy with a few years ago). Really nice day with fantastic people - cannot ask for anything more.

Take care everyone and catch you all tomorrow (I hope!)

Hiya all..how are we doing today?I couldn't get on here at all yesterday.not sure how many more couldn't.
Hello moderators.would it be possible for you to have a look at this? It seems to be happening more and more..not sure if its happening on other forums

Thanks. for starting us off wags....hope you had a good weekend Its raining here strangely enough....
Went out with camera again yesterday.took some nice pics.I will put them up later..Saw a kingfisher a beautiful bird..but it was too fast for me.the trouble with the camera is you look at peoples settings etc an they are all different so its all trial and error..
Was going to do some sanding down.but i have got a lot of rubbish on my chest so thats a no..especially if i cannot sand outside..
Hope everyone had a good weekend

      There y?all are!
I became convinced that MWO was down and out, so reached out to Lav via Messenger. No emergency; just want to be included if our meetings need to move. Going to grab my laptop to do some catchup reading. Backinabit.

MAE ALL...couldn't get on the site on Saturday, messaged with Lav and she couldn't either. Tried off and on yesterday and no luck. At one point the site came up but when you clicked to read or post on the thread nothing would happen.

Wags...thanks for kicking us off this week. Sounds like you had a great day to wrap up the weekend.

Mick...good choice not to sand, now you'll have more time to read up on your camera settings. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Low key weekend for me, spent my time relaxing and drinking plenty of fluids. Now I know what it's like to be dehydrated. My cold seems to be on the mend so hopefully I can get through the work week. I do have Friday scheduled as a day off. Have a good Monday all....:smile:PPQP

X-post Pi...glad to see you got on too.

          Re: 05 November

I really should fire up the laptop more often; it?s worlds easier to use with MWO than phone.

My foster dog has adjusted to the household routines. I ask very little of him, and he of me. Some adoption interest from a Colorado couple, but not until December.

The current transport I?m helping with, from Texas to Kansas has gone through many iterations. Finally, a Pilots N Paws offer came through for the entire distance! WooHoo! Lift off scheduled for tomorrow.

Mick, your new sofas and doors look wonderful!

PQ, your mention of new glasses motivated me to visit an optician. First ever Rx glasses ordered, and I couldn?t be more excited!

TG, I see you submitted adoption application, but didn?t see info on the animal you?re interested in, so wondering.

Slo, sounds like you more than paid your dues on the childcare front!

Wags, best to you acquiring Spanish. Super useful for sure.

Hello to Fly! Do Det, Sam, or Pauly ever stop by?

MAE ALL...just moving Lav's post over to the current thread.

              Good evening everyone,

Looks like the site is back - will try to post.
Glad I was able to chat with a few on Messenger & text IM. I think we all survived the ‘blackout’ here.

PQ, gosh, I’m glad you had some help the other day when you were feeling off. It’s a known fact that as we age we don’t seem to recognize thirst as much. We get busy & distracted & don’t even think about how much fluid we’ve had in a day. I hope you’re all recovered & keep refilling that water glass.

Mick, the door is lovely. You should have been a home decorator I think
You’re getting a lot of rain & I just realized how dry things are around here. There’s absolutely no rain on the forecast thru the next week & a half.
YB saw an eye doctor today who’s talking about cataract extractions possibly in January. I will never get any rest Lol

Fly, yes time flies these days. I have to keep checking my phone to see what day it is haha.
Glad your husband got back safely, such a long drive. Say Hi to the cats.

Hello to Slo, Cyn, Wags & everyone stopping by tonight. I am trying to get some Christmas themed stuff done for a Dec 2 craft fair.

              Have a good night all!
              Lav

MAE ALL...hopefully things stay stable for awhile. Seems we have issues over the weekends. Steady day catching up but I got it done.

Pi...I'm glad to her you and the rescue have come to an understanding. LOL Wow, wonderful that Pilots N Paws came through for you. Good luck tomorrow. My glasses have made a huge difference, should have upgraded the lenses years ago. Can't believe this is your first Rx pair of glasses.

Mick...thanks for posting the pics, they're fabulous.

Lav...you're welcome. It just confuses me when older threads pop up to the top. Don't want people to start posting on that one and miss out on current news. My idea of what dehydration is has done a 360. I had no idea what could happen. I have now invested in a proper reusable bottle and am determined to drink more during the day. Ah, Dec 2nd is C day. Looking forward to seeing all your work.

                  Wishing everyone a good night....:smile:PPQP

                    Re: 05 November

That was a long time for the site to be down!

And today was a long day with Huxley! But, for a change of pace, it was at my house! He enjoyed exploring and destroying my condo! I had a guy coming to look at my dryer in the AM, and also two people in midday for hanging some shelves, and some pictures way up high, etc. I got his shaggy head of hair cut on the way to taking him home. That was an experience! So much crying! But between me holding him (pinning him), the stylist doing acrobatics to cut his hair while staying out of his line of vision, and the other stylist setting up ‘Miss Rachel’ for him to watch on her phone -we got it done!

Wags, what a nice weekend day to have a visit from such meaningful friends.

PQ, no wonder you got sick after overextending yourself to host so much of the “Safe” Trick or Treat. That sounded like a really fun, well-put-together event!
Probably a little ambitious to go back to work so soon. You scared me when you said you had a low-key weekend relaxing and drinking! Then I saw you were just drinking “fluids”. Thankfully this is a 4-day week for you.

Pie, I can’t type much here when I’m on my phone. I need to use my iPad.

Love the gorgeous water photos, Mick.
Hopefully Julie’s dad’s low mood has lifted.

You can squeak in one craft fair before YB’s next medical intervention, Lav.
How will you find owners for the kittens this time?

My day is done, and it was fun.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

                      Re: 05 November

                      Mae all -
A hard day for me today? it occurred to me that I should make sure my apartment complex would allow me to take a senior pittie. The answer is NO. On the website is says ?Pets Welcome!? No disclaimer or asterisk or anything. But I kept clicking through the pages (I don?t care to talk to the office people in person, as you recall), and sure enough buried in some other part is a list of about 6 breeds they won?t accept? pitties being one. And the guardian has to have a Vet-written confirmation of the DNA? not even a smidge of a mixed-breed.
My heart was utterly broken? i spent the whole weekend going through all the questions with the Rescue, talking to the foster, photographing my space and everything? i had no idea how I had fallen in love with this sweet senior (out of TX, Pie - had been used for breeding?) all I wanted to do was give her the gift of love for her remaining years. But I will reach out to my MN friends? this dog is senior, and lowkey; doesn?t like to walk far, just wants to potty and come back in, loves her crate, can be left for hours, loves snuggling. There has to be someone else out there? she has been in foster for 9 months? time for her forever home.
Good thing I had to go to work, or I would have cried all day?
So that?s me. It was not meant to be, I guess.
                      Sending love to all -
                      TG

hiya all,how are we doing today then? hope all is good with everyone ,despite the fact that the site went down ,Dont know what happened .It hasn't stopped raining over here at all..the fields at the back are pretty flooded.Almost finished the front room ,1 job left to do but I cant do any sanding down in this weather

hiya teegee, wow I m really sorry to hear about the rescue ,hidden in the small print eh?I know its probably not what you want to hear..but are there any other rescues available?or was it a one off.I do hope you manage to sort something out .

hiya Slo...sounds like you had a bit of a circus with the golden locks being shorn!!did you get the dryer fixed?and the shelves up?Julies dad was ok the day after ..thanks for asking .Yes Im playing with all different settings ..there is a lady in Ottowa who has the same camera who takes fantastic pics of birds that I am in contact with .

hiya pie ...hows you then today? well done on the pilots and paws rescue ...that sounds brilliant.glad the foster has settled down.hope the new glasses work well for you .

hiya ppqp..how are you feeling?hope all is good .Dehydration is a belter ..you dont actually realise you are dehydrated till things start to go a bit pear shaped.Keep up the fluids .I aint that keen on drinking water,so I always put some flavouring in it .even really dilute is better than no taste .

hiya Lav ,how are you doing?hope all is well with you.best of luck with the cataracts ,I remember my mum having them done .Nope I certainly wouldnt have been much good at home decorating ..its funny the turns life takes you ..in life I have always been outdoorsy etc ,engineer ,soldier prison officer /governor , but the creative side of me likes making things, cleaning things ,and polishing them ,writing poetry , making flower arrangements and hanging baskets ..strange isnt it ..Its just stopped raining so Im going to let the rabbits out .

hiya wags how are you doing ? how is your dad?

hiya Fly ..hope all is good with you and in catsville ...

                            Re: 05 November

                            Greetings friends,

Overcast here but still dry. we just ran out for a quick bite to eat, wasn't in the mood for leftovers & cooking every day has gotten tiresome, Lol
I haven't seen 3 of the kittens all day, I think they moved out without telling me. I feel sorry for the one guy left alone in the garage, might consider putting Bob out there with him overnight for company.

PQ, glad to hear the new glasses are helpful. It's amazing what we can accomplish when we can actually see well. Keep up the hydration kick, I'm pushing myself to take in more as well.

Slo, you had quite an exciting day with Huxley! That reminded me of the first time I took my son to the barbershop & I had to sit in the barber chair with him on my lap & try to hold his head still so he didn't have an ear cut off, geez. glad it turned into a busy but fun day for you

Cyn, I'm sorry about the pittie, that's sad. I've known some very sweet pitbulls, they all get such a bad rap.
sometimes work can be a good distraction when we need one. Take care

Mick, still raining huh? hope you get a real break soon.
Thankfully we don't have to get into the cataract thing until after the holidays. I only have two hands so I can't do all the holiday work AND nurse YB, haha. at least he's walking a good bit better at this point.

Pie, good to see you & hope all is well with you!

to anyone else, hello & wishing everyone a nice night!

MAE ALL...a very busy day with few distractions until the accountant got into an argument with me and about wanting to change an invoice. She came out with a load of blah, blah, blah and it was an outright lie. I was going to call her on it until the phone rang so I answered that instead. LOL She wasn't impressed. Aw. The call turned out to be a client changing a class booking to accommodate me. What a surprise, that put me in a good mood. When the accountant came back I said do what you want to, whatever makes it easier for you. She didn't know what to say. Haha

Slo...nice to have Huxley at your place for a change but what a busy day you had yesterday. I just laughed at your haircut adventure, I'd forgotten about those visits. The Halloween event was a huge success according to the feedback childcare got so I was happy to do it while they dealt with the memorial. Sorry for the scare, I'll be more mindful of my wording. LOL

Aw TG...what a hard day. I'm so sorry things turned out the way they did. I'm glad you were able to be distracted with work.

Mick...I hope the rain lets up soon. I remember seeing some of those flooded field pictures before. I'm feeling pretty good today, actually thought to myself my energy is improving. I don't mind drinking water just have to consciously remember to do it, time goes by so fast.

Pi...I had to look up what Pitties are. Now I know, makes sense.

Lav...putting Bob outside for company is a great idea, wonder what he'll think about it. LOL It's funny, my co-workers have all told me they are making themselves drink more too. Maybe this was a wake up call for everyone. Glad you don't have to deal with the cataracts till the new year.

Waves to anyone I missed. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP
