      Re: 12th of November

      Good evening friends,

Still holding in a decent weather pattern (sorry Mick)!
It’s nice to be able to open the door & let the cats out to hunt & explore for a few hours, breaks up the monotony for them. Kittens are still happy but still need homes, hopefully soon. Back to stitching ornaments this evening, fun stuff.

PQ, hope your doc visit went well. I don’t go again until January unless something falls apart first, haha.
You do have a busy few days coming up but I bet they’ll go quickly. I haven’t heard about the naughty Santa trick, sounds interesting as long as everyone walks out happy, Lol Hope you didn’t get much snow.

Mick, I am praying for rain relief for you but no one seems to be listening. Glad you enjoyed your lunch with your friend.
Sounds like indoor activities for a while longer for you until you see some sun again.

Cyn, hope you’re holding up with the shift changes, etc.

Slo, day off today or babysitting?

Wags, thinking about you & hope allis well.

Fly, hope you had a good day.

Pie, did your cooler weather stick around for an extra day or two?

I guess that’s it so have a nice night all!

        Re: 12th of November

MAE ALL...things seem to have come to a grinding halt, it was a slow, long day. I'd rather be busy.

Mick...sorry you had to travel in the rain, but glad you had a good time. You put it out there now Debi's distant relatives have arrived. LOL No snow yet but it was cold around 0C and overcast. Now they're predicting just a skiff around midnight and then clearing out. Works for me. Working right through to Dec 22 and then off until Jan 8th.

Lav...main purpose of the checkup was to get my prescriptions renewed. It is time for me to do the rounds though, she's ordered a colonoscopy, mammogram, pulmonary test, cystoscopy, renal ultra sound, ophthalmologist checkup and of course blood work. Some of these procedures are booking 2 years out! Our Premiere wants to privatize health care and the whole system is in shambles. Better I get them booked now before everything falls apart. Hope you get the kittens re-homed soon.

Time for comfort food, it's tomato soup and bacon & tomato sandwiches. Waves to anyone else stopping in. Hope you all have a good night....:smile:PPQP

          Re: 12th of November

          MAE everyone,

Sorry for not posting yesterday. We spent almost 4 hours (including travel) taking care of our pup's vet appt, and then I had to teach all of my classes for the day late into the evening. We got some good news and some uncertainty at the vet appt. The two vets spent almost a full hour with our dog. They did an extremely thorough physical exam, plus multiple xray views of chest, torso, abdomen, and hips. Their initial read of the films showed nothing big - no large tumors or similar. We are now waiting for the report from the radiologist, which will obviously be more detailed and more definitive, since that's their expertise. We're also waiting on results of bloodwork (checking for liver issues, for example) and some other tests.

It was good to hear there wasn't a big tumor (or lots of little ones) obviously throughout her little body, and I'm hopeful the radiology report and bloodwork will be reassuring as well. Until then, we wait with fingers and paws crossed, and still no answers for why she's having the symptoms she's having. We're just proceeding to love her and give her her best life and monitoring her quality of life, which still seems good. I will enjoy and be grateful for every day/week/month, with a quiet hope we actually get years.

PQ - sounds like a lot of things on your healthcare list! You'll be glad when all are done though, and i hope you don't have to actually wait 2 years for any of them.

Lav - glad you were able to relocate Penny, and I hope you are easily able to find homes for the kittens. Thank you for helping them.

Mick - you really are getting a lot of rain!

Slo - I think keeping your home as your sanctuary is a good idea. Maybe if you have to have the grands over occasionally, you can put things up out of reach until they're old enough to know how to treat them gently (or not touch!).

TG, Pie, Fly, and everyone else - hope all is well with you.

We made it over the hump again!

            Re: 12th of November

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing good. Yet again rain today, however it has now cleared up and is very overcast. I was going to go metal detecting the Sunday, however I formed a farmer up who lets us going his land, and he was saying that there is no chance. A lot of the Farmers haven't done anything to their Fields yet because they are too wet crops have been ruined already come on and he reckons it will take at least two or three months for them to dry out. So that means homegrown crops next year will be pretty expensive. Just been to the doctors to get my flu jab, so that's another job out of the road full stop being playing with my camera again this morning, however there are only so many pictures you can take of the one scene! Hopefully I will get out tomorrow

Hiya lav.hows you today then? Hope all is well over there. That black cat has made quite a few appearances in our garden yet again, it is a lovely little thing and the answer is no! How is why B is back doing? I guess you are busy stitching up Christmas stuff? Hope you have a good day.

Hiya ppqp how are you doing today then? Hope all is well with you. So your health service is going through the same privatization scenarios as ours is it? Did you have a National Health Service similar to the one we have over here? Not really sure however I thought it may be possible considering the Canada was part of the Commonwealth. The bacon and tomato sound a lot more interesting!

Hiya wags how are you doing today? That was a pretty busy day you had yesterday wasn't it question mark and also stressful glad the vets never found anything glaringly obvious and immediately life threatening to the puppy, let's hope they do find out the root of the problem however as you say enjoy him his company as part of the family give him the best you possibly can which I am sure you already do full stop Rainbow Bridge comes to all our animals at one stage, but would love and the care that is obviously apparent in your posts it will be later a lot later rather than sooner take care and have a good day

Hiya everyone else hope everyone is doing okay we are over hump day and coasting downhill now! And just to chew you up at the bottom of the hill we are coasting down is Christmas!

              Re: 12th of November

              MAE all,

No, I’m not babysitting today. I dropped that with D1 and her three. And I only have one more Monday with Huxley, then I’m free! And that will definitely be at his house -which the parents much prefer anyways. I did put away all my small, throw-able decorations away in a laundry basket -but he still finds ways to destroy things! And that, despite the fact that I took him to a play gym for two hours in the morning. It’s just too hard for me…having severe neuropathy and a chronic pain condition makes it difficult.
I will still still babysit Huxley on average of once a week for an afternoon or an evening though.

Most of my days find me traveling to the regenerative pain clinic -3 days per week.

PQ, your accountant seems to have trouble grasping a lot of things, so I’m not surprised that she doesn’t get the gift exchange. She must be thinking of the Secret Santa style of exchange. That Naughty Santa version is real fun…except if you play with children. They get really upset if their gift gets stolen! And maybe elderly men too…my mother’s partner was really upset after his gift got stolen during that style of gift exchange with his family. Never heard the end of it!

Your gnome ornaments are really beautiful, Lav! Poor Young Daughter…she recently admitted that she thought ‘gnome’ was spelled ‘knome’. Well, that word apparently didn’t show up on the spelling lists at school!
You have had way too much to do with cat rescues, bless you. But enough is enough! How will you even home the kittens? Word-of-mouth, social media…? Good luck with that.

That’s sad that the rain is ruining the fields, Mick. It’s super windy here today.

Glad your doggie is ok for now, Wags.

Looking forward to my “Young Sheldon” fix in a half hour!

              Bye for now.

                Re: 12th of November

                Greetings friends!

Sunny & mild here today, no jacket required this afternoon. I'm hearing about some rain & wind moving this way later this week. we could actually use a little rain.
Today I'm stitching gingerbread man & candy cane ornaments along with some angels, busy

PQ, wow that's quite a list of testing to get thru. It's a real shame you have to wait so long for appointments. that would never be tolerated around here. we are talking to everyone we see about the kittens. I'll be posting them on our local message board too, just need some updated pictures. they're happy & comfortable for now.

Wags, what a grueling day for you. But the good news was there was nothing outstanding on the films so that's good. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of the situation soon & get your pup healthy again. Hang in there

Mick, I really really hope it stops raining over there, geez It?s sad to hear the farmers are having a hard time but not surprising after all the rain you have gotten. Glad to hear you got your flu vaccine. YB is doing much better, not complaining of pain at this point but he?s still limping & tripping over things. I just hope he doesn?t fall & break anything. He?s a terrible patient, I kid you not haha!!

Slo, little boys are destructive, it?s just in their nature honestly! My son had to take everything apart. He even got ahold of a screw driver as a toddler & removed the outlet plates on the ways. I have no idea how he didn?t electrocute himself. It was non-stop terror with him. They get better when they get a little older & you can at least try to reason with them. Enjoy your downtime, it?s yours to enjoy. I hope your treatments continue to help with your pain.
Speaking of gnomes - I don?t even think we had that word when we were young, did we? Seems to be more of a modern thing.

Hellos going out to Cyn, Pie, Fly & everyone else dropping in tonight.
                Have a nice night all!
                Lav

                  Re: 12th of November

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how much time has passed since I posted... I'm starting to wonder about my perceptions! I have a huge calendar on my front door with my work schedule and appointments... I'm fearful of forgetting to show up to work because I can't remember what day it is...uuugh. (I did feel a tad bit less panicky about my mental state when 2 friends separately sent me articles from NPR and the NY Times about the reality of Brain Fog after Covid... good to know, but I need something to help me get through a week without forgetting something!)

Wags, I hear the anguish in your writing - apologies if I already posted this; but with one of my weimaraners, we thought he had a case of Wobblers - it was terrible to watch. I can't remember now how we solved it, but it was either through herbal therapies and doggie chiropractic or acupuncture. If the vets can't help, maybe you can look further afield... there are a lot of good healers out there (some charlatans too of course, but if you can get some recommendations, it might be worth a try.) Best of luck.

PPQ - sounds like you have your sights set on getting through all this holiday stuff... wishing you well. And also with all the tests! I guess it is better to have them scheduled, even if it is far away in terms of dates.

Pie - how are things going? I keep thinking about the rescue I was hoping for... looking into being able to qualify for an Emotional Support dog. The rescue person suggested that...

Mick, so sorry to hear about all the cold rain, and the fields under water. Oh dear. No wonder your shoulders are hurting - arthritis doesn't like rain! I'm sure that the longer that you "play" with the camera, the more things will become second-nature. The pics you've taken so far are brilliant. No rush!

Lav, more fabulous ornaments - so creative and cute! You have 4 cats already? I forget how many broods you have "rescued"... I hope you can find homes for all the kittens. Is there a no-kill shelter anywhere around? The Amish are not into cats? Oh well - wishing you luck. (And PS - those ornaments are adorable! No surprise!)

SLO - gosh, it still sounds like you are doing a lot of babysitting. I hope your family realizes that your physical condition and the PT, etc. that you need should be first and foremost. I know YOU know that, but I hope you stand firm. All the things you listed sound like they will take a toll on you, even though they will be good for you in the end.

Fly - hope all is well.

Today was a day off, and I did nothing but sleep, and eat, and now post this. The work days have been brutal - even the "old-timers" are shocked at how massively busy it is, and as of yesterday there is an added daily truckload of items to be placed. It seems like whenever we put something on a shelf, it's gone in 15 minutes. They told us that last week was the largest grossing week since the store opened (12 years ago.) So it is some comfort that it's not just me ! I can tell that getting dehydrated is part of my fatigue, so I've ordered some electrolyte powders that will increase hydration and (allegedly) boost mental acuity as well. Crossing fingers...

                  Cheers to all,
                  TG

Just what we needed as we were trying to get all the reports ready for the AGM. Got everything done, AGM went off without a hitch. Late night again tomorrow. With any luck the site will be available this weekend and I'll catch up with everyone then.

                            Hello friends,

Later than usual check in for me. I had a surprise call from my grandsons after school today asking if they could come over. Turns out the oldest one needed to use some of YB’s tools to work on a project but it was nice to see them both. Got them a pizza for dinner & we baked some brownies so they were happy. Not even sure where their parents were, my DIL’s car was there but I didn’t go in when I picked them up - better that way I think.
                            Still stitching ornaments, making progress.

PQ, glad your craft fair is up & running well. You deserve a break after all this

Mick, was that another air fryer Julie got? Sounds good & I like Ninja appliances, I have their hi speed blender.
Love the de brie everywhere haha!

Wags, still keeping my fingers crossed for you & your pup

Cyn, all of the shelters around here are filled up & not accepting any animals, sad situation. I just can’t throw these 4 kittens out on their own with winter coming so I’ll figure something out. Please know yo are not the only one suffering with brain fog & basically not knowing what day it is - I’m rightthere with you. I’m grateful to receive text messages when I have an appointment coming up, good reminders. I’m afraid the holiday season is a busy time in virtually every grocery store. Hopefully it won’t be too bad for you. One caution with the electrolyte drinks, just make sure they are overloaded with sodium which can cause other problems. Keep taking good care & take naps when you can, nothing wrong with that!

Slo, hope your day was good.
                            Fly, how are you?
                            Pie, hello to you!

MAE everyone - GOOD NEWS about our pup! We still don't know what's causing her symptoms (coughing and enlarged abdomen/belly), but we know several things she is NOT experiencing: no tumors, no enlarged heart or fluid around the heart, no organs failing. No ascites. She's definitely still got giardia and her lungs show some signs of a very small aspiration that didn't turn into pneumonia but still compromised her respiratory system a bit. Those 2 things might be at the root of it all. She's still sick, but not going to die from what she's experiencing. I'm SO relieved!

PQ - sounds like a great start to the craft fair! Hope your good weather continues through the weekend.

Lav - shelters are really full here too (probably everywhere). I hope you're able to find a rescue or perhaps some foster homes for the little catters.

Mick - love the free bee joke! I hope your adjustment to the light works out and you have a far more restful night!

I have tomorrow off and am planning to go see my dad. Hope you all have fantastic weekends! Thanks for your positive energy and good thoughts for our doggo
