Hi, troops:
My baby daughter will be here from college in about an hour! Yay!
Banana nut muffins made with maple syrup sounds yummy, Lav. I have a cornbread recipe that uses maple syrup.
D2 & her HB are just big on fruits & veggies; which is fine, but they are not very calorie-dense for a growing boy. And baby cereal is very pass? in this generation of parents. They do not believe in it. So I have been giving Huxley baby rice cereal (sometimes oatmeal) -an organic kind and without additives from Germany -since he could eat solids. And I sweeten it too! -with maple syrup (plus bananas and milk and hot water). He gobbles it right up! Well, his weight & growth was lagging quite a bit on the growth charts as an infant, so I wanted to beef him up on my day with him. And I give him water with -gasp! -apple juice (that sugar they didn’t want him to have!), so that he gets enough fluids in. I get some meat into him too, on my day, so that he gets some good protein in.
TG, here’s a quote from social media: “Going to Trader Joe’s the week before Thanksgiving is like a suburban middle class Hunger Games”. (!)
PQ, I like how you spelled it out for me that you are “heating up” some clam chowder soup -not scooping clams out of their shells, and making a roux!
Speaking of soup, that leek & lentil soup of Mick’s sounds good to me.
Wags, I wouldn’t bother with much posting until you are over the hump.
I really enjoyed my afternoon with my cousin at the pool, while her 11-year-old son swam. Luckily her 2-year-old and her HB didn’t end up coming (flat tire snafu), so we had plenty of time to visit. She’s in the middle of a long fight with her mom though (Young Aunt). They aren’t speaking. I tried to explain as best as I could where I thought her mother was coming from, so as to hopefully engender understanding and hopefully resolution someday. I kind of accidentally got in the middle, as an informant of what her mother and sis-in-law are doing for Thanksgiving. Oops! She broached how horribly dysfunctional the family that our mothers grew up in had to have been. So she sees it too! Anyways, nice one-on-one time. And talks about the Swimming World too.
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the U.S.! I’m heading to my little sister & BIL’s house tomorrow.
