    Re: Dec 3rd

    Happy Sunday All,

Lots of dogs being surrendered to rescue lately; four in the past two weeks which is an unusually fast pace. Reasons vary: allergies, postpartum depression, owners entering assisted living. It?s why rescue exists though, to provide soft landings for pups when circumstances go south. These four have been relatively easy transports of under 100 miles from intake to foster home. Vetting comes next to asses their needs, most often including extensive dental care. Once they?re medically released and we?ve gotten to know them, they go to approved adopters for new forever homes. Owners are super smart when they choose to rehome through rescue because of the care we take to get it right.

My own foster is slated to go to previous adopters in Colorado. There?s no doubt in my mind that they have the experience take this special needs pup requires. Two drivers will split the trip in January, so foster is with me for another 6 weeks or so.

      Good evening all,

I got a SURPRISE text from my daughter-in-law today. I almost fell over when she said she has homes for all 4 kittens. Turns out my grandsons talked her into letting each of them have one & the other two are going to friends of hers. They came & picked the kittens up & now I suddenly have a lot more time for myself, haha. The past 11 weeks have been busy for sure. My young cat Bob is missing them already, he was a good babysitter.
We still have that stupid fog here although not as bad as yesterday. It hit 53 degrees today, not bad.

Mick, I know you’re overrun with wildlife like we are. It’s fun to try to get pics when they walk thru the yard.
Sorry about the snow, staying close to home is a good idea. I like the Motown weather report I’m meeting old work friends for lunch on Tuesday, looking forward to that.

Pie, it’s sad so many animals don’t have homes. I keep hearing the rescues & shelters here are at max capacity. You are doing a great service helping out the way you do  enjoy your next few weeks with your foster.

Cyn, thinking of you & hoping covid hasn’t knocked you on your butt.

PQ, Slo, Fly Wags & everyone - hello to all of you!

      Have a nice night all!

        Re: Dec 3rd

        Mae all,
Well Lav you certainly deserve good news after your sale was dampened by fog. Bless your grandsons for thinking of taking the kittens. And (I guess) kudos to DIL for finding friends to take the other 2. I?m sure you?ll figure out how to use that extra time 😉.

Mick, we had some snow here a few days ago, but it?s all gone now, and the grass is still green, so I guess we?ve not had a ?killing? frost yet. Keep on with the camera. we?re loving your experiments! (And happy belated St. Andrews Day!)

Pie, it really warms my heart to hear about your Rescues. That sounds like a lot of dogs coming in suddenly. Thank goodness you know how to handle it all. So impressed that you found a suitable person for your Special Needs dog.

I hope all else are well. I did this on my phone but was careful about punctuation. I hope there will not be too many Question Marks inserted after I post.

        May all be well,
        TG

mae all...how are we today then? hope everyone is doing good.raining today ,we have now got flood warnings in parts of uk now ...this time next week ,Ill be taking the wabbitz down to their hotel..and we are offski to sunnier climes on the Tuesday ..was going to take the camera out for a walk this morning (its very partial to walks)but rain doesnt do it much good .

hiya teegee great to see you again ...how are you feeling ..?? hope all is well? glad your phone isnt?playing you? up?I really enjoy messing about with the camera .ok its not a top end model but its good for what I want ...the lapwings stopped for a break in flight ..all of about 20 mins then onwards to destination ..for some reason this area is a stopover for migratory birds .

take care and have a good day

Pie ...you are a star ...thats all I can say ..I thank you for what you do ...Is the dental care needed because of people cannot afford the high cost or general neglect ?It would be nice if you could get a vet who would put their ethics before finance ...and I dont mean that in a nasty way .

Hiya Lav ...a ringmaster without a circus??? whats going on here then??that was a good shout ...Yes we have some great animals here its surprising considering how small ish the area is ...still waiting for a bald eagle ...We have the fog too I watched it drifting in over the hills this morning ..I thought the motown would appeal to you ..we are of the same era ...how is yb doing? Are you going to Longwood for the xmas lights etc?

hiya ppqp...how are you doing today then? hope all is good with you ..

same slo ...how are you doing today then?

            Re: Dec 3rd

            Good evening friends,

We were treated to a few hours of partial sunlight today. That was nice since it’s been cloudy & foggy since last Thursday haha!
You don’t know how many times I thought today, it’s time to feed & check on kittens. My grandsons have both texted me & said theirs are doing well so far. I’ll get the kittens out of my mind sooner or later. Busy all day doing nothing special or fun.

Cyn, I am fairly certain my DIL has had another typical bipolar mood swing. I’m not handing her any credit at this point. She’s a real Jekyll & Hyde if you know what I mean. Hope you are doing well & getting plenty of rest. TJs will be OK without you for a few more days

Mick, sorry you’re getting rained on again. We don’t have any rain predicted until next Sunday, just lots of cloudy days. So where are you off to this time for sun & fun? I’ll bet the rabbits love their hotel too, does it have a spa? Lol. We do get to see bald eagles here quite often. When we drive a little north into Lancaster county we see quite a few of them hanging out at the Susquehanna river. Such enormous birds!!

Hellos going out to PQ, Pie, Slo , Fly & everyone.

            Have a good night all!

              Re: Dec 3rd

              Hello all -

Well, that was weird. I logged on, but only saw about 3 threads, none of which were ours... but thanks to level-headed Lav, I came back in and all is well... what the...? Anyway just grateful that we are all here together... it is a good test for understanding how much this thread means...

I am slowly mending, but the dust in the heating ducts (and consequent dust mite bites) are getting to me. I did order some plug-in air cleaners, very fancy. I think it might be helping in the bedroom (the dusty-est, worst room.) I did have the energy to dust and vacuum today (vacuum is high-end portable with great filter). That wiped me out though...

Not much to report other than that. I hope all are well - everyone here is so caring for animals, kids, other humans. Thank you to all -

                Re: Dec 3rd

                Evening,

I’m enjoying my little tree and my fireplace.

I hope those air filters will make a big difference for you with the air quality, TG. Yuck.
My daughter D3 & her HB & baby Andy all just had COVID last week too.

Such an abrupt ending, Lav, with all the kittens leaving at once! I guess they are getting older though, so time to go. Which ones did your grandsons keep; boys? girls? the little one with the breathing problem?

You’ve had a lot of rain, Mick; you will enjoy a warm, sunny climate!
The inventor of autocorrect deserves to restaurant in peaches!

I cried when seeing the recent pictures of the three grandkids on social media. I’m frustrated that I can’t care for them adequately anymore with my mobility & pain problems, and that I don’t really want to much anyways with the way their mother D1 has been treating me. Their lives are going on without me. I miss that little Cooper especially! He’s crawling now and everything. He would always get excited and flap his arms each week when I came to visit.m

D2 has really been going through it. They had to put their beloved dog down on Sunday, after 8 months of trying to save her and fix her (paralysis; unable to really walk anymore, and chronic UTIs with endless ATBs and now incontinent). They gave her a big celebration of life beforehand with all her favorites (steak, the beach, snuggles, etc.). D2 also ended up in urgent care the day before with a painfully infected great toe (like cellulitis), and has worries about losing the embryo that was implanted on Wednesday.

Pie, that’s a relief that your foster dog has a new home picked out. Too bad for the 6-week wait though: he’ll get more attached to you.

I went to my niece’s Nutcracker ballet performance on Sunday. She was a boy character at the Christmas party at the beginning , and my little sister & BIL were in it too as “party parents” -guests dancing at and attending the party. So that was fun.

MAE ALL…sorry for missing in action, my cold is back and it’s just dragging me down. I’m do for my injection so on top of the cold my arthritis has flared up. The Pineapple Express has arrived, and our high today was 16C/60F. It’s hard to find any snow around. They opened the city golf courses and there’s snow on the ski hills so you can do both.

Lav…I’m so glad to hear you’ve found a home for the kittens, what a relief for you. Sorry the craft sale wasn’t up to snuff.

TG…did I read you have Covid again? I’m feeling crummy but keep testing negative.

Mick…I’m ok, just seem to be really dragged out. I’m off to pick up my injection so hopefully I’ll get some sleep tonight.

I will do a better job of catching up in the next couple of days. Have a good night all….:smile:PPQP

                      Re: Dec 3rd

                      Greetings friends,

Sunless again today, oh well at least it was dry. We had several stops to make today & ended up having lunch in Solanco (Souther Lancaster county). Stopped & picked up 2 bags of oat flour at an Amish store - makes great gluten free waffles . I’m heading out to meet friends for lunch tomorrow & deliver a new baby pillow to one of them

Cyn, I had to laugh at calling me ‘level headed’. That’s what a former director of nursing used to call me & I always thought she really doesn’t know the real me, Lol. I do have my limits & can blow up when push comes to shove.
We had a company (from Sears I believe) come vacuum out the vents & heating system in our old 1920’s house decades ago & it really helped with the dust & sneezing. Maybe yo & some of your neighbors could pile up on the apartment manager & request a similar service. Just a thought . Hope you feel better & had a good day.

Mick, in traveling today we had to cross a reservoir between Chester & Lancaster counties. Eagle often hang out there as well but I didn’t spot any today.
I like the bald eagle ornament, very nice. Keep that camera handy, you never know when you’re going to spot something interesting.

Slo, my 15 yr old grandson chose the largest kitten, we think it’s a boy. The 12 yr old chose the smallest, the one who was sick. I gave both boys clear instructions on how to medicate her & they have texted me that they were successful. I would take that kitten back in a quick minute if i thought she wasn’t being cared for. I don’t expect my DIL to give the boys any assistance because she’s not interested in anything but herself tbh.
I’m sure you’re missing seeing the grandkids but at least you can see some of it on social media, better than nothing I guess. You really need to get yourself healed up & healthy first & foremost. Sorry your daughters are going thru tough times right now. I guess we all did at one point or another, right? Hopefully they will be OK.

PQ, how are you, miss seeing your posts.

Hello to Pie, Fly & everyone.
                      Have a nice night all!

What have I been up to, Mick? Well, like I said, I traveled to get together with lots of family on Sunday, for my 11-y/o niece’s performance in the Nutcracker Ballet -and, bonus: Sis & BIL too! I picked up my 15 y/o niece and brought her to it too. Had lunch with another bro & SIL and my mother.
When I brought my niece home, I was disturbed to see my brother sitting alone in his truck with the engine on, in his driveway. I think it means that his truck is still where he retreats to, to drink and get drunk.

Otherwise I go to my nerve regeneration therapy appointments a distance away, three times a week. I do my best to keep up with my activities of daily living, home care, shopping, cooking, etc. But I have a hard time with it, and get exhausted easily.
I’m getting used to the new lift under the foot orthotic, and will have X-rays next week to see if it has shifted my pelvis, spine, etc. in the right direction.
Having essentially two lifts in one shoe means there isn’t room for both of them, so there’s pressure points on some toes and the heel, that I don’t want to have turn into blisters, so have to be careful. My new shoes came in the mail, and I have a tentative appointment with a cobbler on Saturday, so hopefully in a couple weeks I will have shoes that fit correctly.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

I have a bag of oat flour that I haven’t used yet, Lav. Maybe I will make some cornbread today, with a new recipe I have that uses oat flour.
Yes, your grandsons are going to have to be responsible enough to take care of their own kittens! DIL is not the type who will oversee any of that.

I had the vents cleaned twice in my old house -once to deal with the debris left from the initial construction, and once to deal with dust & debris left from an extensive basement renovation project. I think it helped.

Now that bald eagles have been resurrected from near extinction, we get to see them around here where I live too -especially when we travel up north to the Eagle River area.
The photo of the squirrel is a compositional masterpiece, Mick. And so crisp too.

So sorry that your bad cold has returned, PQ. Your two week’s off can’t come soon enough!

D3 isn’t suffering. They weathered their COVID bouts just fine. Like her bad day with it was Wednesday, and his bad day was on Friday, so they still were able to care for baby Andy; who weathered his just fine.
It’s D2 who is going through too many major stressors all at once within the space of a few days, while in the precarious position of needing the embryo to implant. She can find out probably this coming weekend if the pregnancy took or not.

I bought a computer, so am getting that all set up and working. I haven’t had a computer in a long while; have been using just a tablet (and phone).

Hi and best wishes to Pie, TG, and Wags too. And Sam if you’re reading!
