Re: Dec 3rd

Greetings group

Cloudy & chilly today & I ran into some weird ice storm just as I was getting to Applebees for lunch with my friends. It was 41 degrees so I wasn’t expecting anything like that. It lasted a few minutes then stopped, weird. It’s always nice to meet with the old work friends but we all had to laugh at our collective health issues, mostly related to aging. The youngest person in our group has some serious & scary stuff going on, a few minor strokes, now a Type 2 diabetic & and stage 3 renal failure, sad. I feel a little guilty for bitching about turning 70 in a few weeks. I am much healthier overall than that girl who is not yet 60. I guess we need to be grateful for every day we have, nothing is promised.

PQ, sorry you are dealing with health problems right now. I hope the arthritis eases up & the cold finally disappears for good. I heard a news story today about some people dealing with typical cold symptoms where the cough is harsh & lasting for months, ugh. Take good care of yourself :hug;

Great wildlife shots Mick!!! You’re really getting the hang of it quickly, good for you.
There was a shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus today, several people killed. Couldn’t help but think about Pauly as the campus is only about 2 miles away from the Vegas strip. Two unarmed security guards at Macy’s flagship store in Philadelphia were stabbed a few days ago, one died. How do we end this senselessness? It’s especially hard to hear this news so close to the holidays. I haven’t been to Philly in years & have no desire to go again.

Slo, I love the oat flour, makes delicious bread, waffles, pancakes, etc. it’s lighter on the gut & that makes me happy.
I really have faith that the boys will keep an eye on the kittens & they know they can contact me if any problems arise. Glad to hear your family has weathered Covid, something I guess we’re all going to have to do as time goes on. I hope your daughter’s very wanted pregnancy takes & she remains healthy. Good luck with the shoe & orthotics/lift situation, hope yo get it all straightened out.

Hello to Cyn, hope you’re feeling better too!

Hellos to Pie, Fly & Wags & anyone else dropping by tonight.
Have a good night all.

MAE ALL...did manage to get more sleep last night, that helped but I'm still not over it. I seem to be good for awhile and then just get exhausted. Thankfully it's quiet at work and everything is winding down. Our weather is turning tonight. It's supposed to start raining later this evening and then turn to snow over night. Snowfall warning in effect and heaviest among expected in the morning. Great, while I scrape off all the ice!

Mick...golf isn't quite as crazy over here but all courses were booked within a few hours. Those are some great pics. Just listening to the news and we're getting another chinook middle of next week. Wonder if there'll be any snow for Christmas. Might be tough running our Learn to Skate programs beginning of January. LOL

Slo...you exhaust me just listening to everything you do. Hope the cobbler can get the new shoes fixed up for you. You're right I can hardly wait till the break.

Lav...glad the weird ice storm didn't last too long. It's nice that you all can still get together. I don't have much of an appetite but I am drinking a lot of water and taking my vitamins. Just have to get my sleep sorted out, I'm sure that would help a lot. My goal is not to end up in the hospital in January. LOL

Shout out to everyone else, sorry but I'm worn out. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

hiya all how are we then? hope all is good ..Julie had the cold ...note I said had ..and not got ..Spartacus here now has it ..raining and blowing a hooley here today ...took the camera out yesterday ,got a cracking pic of a male kestrel watching its prey then taking it ..If you look at the pic of it on the ground you will see its prey in the right claw ..

Screenshot_20231206_140637_Gallery.jpg

DSCN7257.jpg

hiya ppqp...glad you got a bit more kip.rain and snow...yup I know about that ..just the depth that varies ...you wont end up in the hozzy ...you keep safe ..although why you are getting a helicopter is beyond me ....

hiya Lav ..yep nothing promised ...back to that ole saying ...odat ..though it is scary to think of it sometimes ..glad you had a good meet up with your friends .
I really am enjoying playing with the camera ...it gives you a different view completely on nature ..Im just learning and still not convinced Im getting the best out of it ...I think the pics could be a little sharper ...but taking the pics is half the battle ...a lot of the work is done editing ...noise reduction ,contrast ,etc .Yes I heard about the shootings ...unless you change the mindset of those who hold the cards at the top and I dont necessarily mean those in the seats it will never happen .
take care and stay safe .

hiya Slo how are you doing? youve been up to a wee bit then I see ,Thats a bit dodgy ..your brother going to the truck to get hammered? I wouldn't have thought that was the best move .I love the bald eagles so elegant graceful yet powerful. thanks for your comments though I think they could be a bit crisper ..though it may be my eyes ..and I aint kidding ..best of luck with the computer ...I have just had to download all the files off my external hard drive and re format it ..hope both of your daughters fare well.

hiya wags how are you doing? hope things are ok with the pup

big shout to everyone else ...

MAE ALL…we got the snow after the rain but the temps remained around freezing so it was an easy clean off the car. It is mostly slush. It snowed most of the day but because it is so warm, I melted on contact. Wouldn’t want to be driving in that tonight though.

Mick…yes, feeling a bit better, the aches are gone the biologic has done it’s job. Just need to get a handle on my sleep. Did I mention that we discovered a stress crack in the living room window? The glass guy is coming tomorrow morning to measure and quote. You just watch, it’ll be -30 when they get around to actually replacing it.

I’ll check back later and see how everyone else’s day was. Have a good night all….:smile:PPQP

Re: Dec 3rd

Evening greetings everyone,

We actually had snow today, covered everything pretty well. Tomorrow the temp is going up to 53 degrees so that will be the end of the snow haha. Some big storm is heading this way on Sunday bringing lots of rain & wind, swell. I’m working on two pillows for a local customer & doing odds & ends.

PQ, glad you’re starting to feel a bit better. Like I mentioned before these lingering upper respiratory infections are all the rage these days
Glad you’re snowfall wasn’t too awful. Take care of you & let someone else take care of the weather. Hope the window replacement isn’t too big of a hassle.

Mick, I guess that was a field mouse the kestrel had for lunch? I’ve seen them lunching on mice & even rabbits around here, ugh. That was a great pic!
Sounds like you’re having the storm now that we’re getting on Sunday. I have this long flexible armed light attached to my embroidery machines. It’s made by OTT. Not sure if they’re out of business now but I couldn’t find replacement bulbs for them anywhere. YB located a sewing shop somewhere in England that had 3 in stock so he bought them. They went out by Deutsche Post to Frankfurt then eventually made their way here yesterday Grateful to be able to see again while threading 15 tiny needles, Lol

Slo, hope you are well today.
Cyn, hope you’re about over your bout with covid.

Hello to Pie, Fly, Wags & everyone.

Have a nice night all!

Re: Dec 3rd

Good evening friends,

We had real sunshine today, it was nice at 50 degrees
Took a ride with YB up into the Lancaster area again. This time it was to an Amish wood stove business. He needs to replace the gasket on the wood stove door & this place had a kit for just that. We were going to stop for lunch too but changed our minds when there was no parking available. The holiday season has begun for sure.

Mick, we’re expecting heavy wind whipped rain on Sunday - so says the news people, possible floods, etc. I’ll just stay in & watch it happen withe a cup of tea . The cats are all happy as far as I know. My dog seems to be getting more miserable, she’ll be 12 in February & feels outnumbered I guess. There’s plenty of space & food for all of them so they don’t need to worry haha! When I sold stuff on eBay I had no trouble shipping things to Europe but shipping from here to Canada is a giant pain, weird.

Hello to PQ, Slo, Pie, Cyn, Fly, Wags & everyone. Hope we’re all healthy & OK.

Have a nice night all!

Mae all,
Wow, what a lot if life going on for all!! I went back to work today, so I?m sorry that my tired brain isn?t a great conversationalist at the moment.
Mick, the photo of the back of the Robin was so very dear. And the kestrel, what a moment to catch! Wishing you safe travels to see your brother.
Lav, wow, I?m glad you could get the bulbs that you needed from England! Sounds good . I?ll have to look into OAT flour.., I?ve never used it.
SLO, good luck with the orthotics, and sending best wishes to D2. I hope her dreams come true.
PPQ, wishing you well - so sorry that you are sick. I well remember how sick you were last year - I am sending you extra ?healthy? vibes to get through these days.
Pie, I hope you are not exhausted by all the new rescues. Sending you kudos for all you do.
I worked today, so I am worn out. I did the 6 AM to 2 PM shift today, and will do that 2 more days, then a day off. I?m walking (across the street) back to my apartment for lunch, and taking an hour? that gives me a nice little time off, and no eating in the crowded Break Room at work, where I am sure I got the virus, as one can?t eat with a mask on. Hoping this will work.
Gotta go to sleep now! Best wishes to all.
TG

Re: Dec 3rd

MAE ALL....YAY It's the weekend. It was a quiet day today, just as well as I'm full steam ahead with a new Customer Relations Management software. It's with a company that we currently use for facility bookings, online program registration and memberships. They've partnered with another company that will handle our Out of School programs. So at least I'm familiar with most of it.

Lav...our snow day was today. This front that came down yesterday was supposed to keep going south and east but it decided to just sit over top of us. Woke up to a foot of snow and it continued all day. Temp was around freezing so it was a really nice day, the kind you want Christmas morning. It's heading out tomorrow (guess it's coming your way) and Sunday is going to be above freezing again. Son stayed home this morning for the glass guys, they figure it will be about a 3hr job to replace it. Son figures it's going to take more like 6. Good choice on not stopping for lunch, if the parking lot was full you could imagine how long it would take to get your order. I remember the pain of shipping to me in Canada. It's amazing the course it took to get here. LOL

Mick...got a great sleep last night, I almost feel like myself again. No congestion when I woke up so I think the cold is on it's way out and no aches from the arthritis. Just in time to be able to enjoy my weekend. The window is not double glazed and I'm sure it's older than 25 years. I'm looking forward to the new one, it'll stop the freezing draft between it and the front door. Now to figure out how to get the landlord to fork out for a new door. LOL It's a small vertical window maybe 7ft by 4ft. Of course it's on the second floor. I forget when you're heading out on jolidays. Have a good trip to your brothers and I hope all is well at his end.

Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

X-post TG...thanks for the well wishes, I think it's working. Back to work already! I would like the 6am-2pm shift as I'm a morning person. Nice to be done early in the day and being able to walk home for lunch is a bonus. Sending you extra healthy vibes. Hope you get a good sleep...:smile:PPQP

Hello, and hello to lurking KENSHO! How’s it going?!

I babysat Huxley yesterday afternoon. We had a fine time napping together! And doing laundry together. His new word is “hello” when his mommy calls on the phone! And he likes to hold the phone to his ear.

I don’t have to go to the cobbler yet. Thankfully that got clarified for me! I have to wait until X-rays next week to see if the lift is working to straighten the pelvis; if it is the right size.
And then I guess what happens is the sole of the shoe gets split, and the lift gets embedded into the sole by the cobbler, when we’re clear on what size it should be. Then just the orthotic will be inside the shoe.

That will be good to get the window fixed, PQ. I finally just problem-solved why I’m so cold in my condo! Turns out that four of the lower windows that I had flipped over to clean, weren’t settled back into their grooves properly. So, despite being “locked” -cold air was coming in. Your icy, high winds coming in from Canada helped me to figure it out!
And I managed, with great difficulty, to get my screen out and storm window in, in my front door! Wish I would’ve remembered to have Young Daughter help me with that over Thanksgiving. We have been doing that together. So now hopefully I will be more snug in here!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Well, at least your work shifts are consistent for these three days, TG.
I liked night shift for the same reasons Mick did. But, it?s hard overall to be on that shift, so then my preferred shift was the PM shift: still less people and head honchos and work politics etc. around.
I like the idea of you being able to go home for lunch! Good solution.

That's so sad for your brother, Mick, that he lost his good friend and close neighbor to cancer. And sad that they both had cancer!
Yes, it is stupid of my brother to drink in his truck. And that why he?s on his 2nd DUI. At some point that Ignition Lock thing-y will be put back on his steering wheel.
Bon Voyage as you head south and out of the cold!

Lav, could OTT light be out of business?! I suppose so?bought out by another company perhaps? Glad you found some remaining stock of those bulbs.
I ordered a sleeper for a grandson for Christmas, and here it?s being shipped from the UK via the Royal Mail! Didn?t realize when I ordered it that it was from so far away. Well, I guess it?s not that far?considering most everything else comes from China.
That?s so nice that you got to meet up with your friends at Applebee?s. The one my age sounds like she?s in pretty rough shape metabolically.

Time to wrap presents!

Greetings friends,

Cloudy but no rain today so it was good for all the driving from here to the cemeteries, then to our daughter’s house with lunch in hand . Nice having lunch with the super bubbly granddaughter, Lol

Cyn, good for you getting back to work. I just love your commute haha!!!
Smart thinking having lunch at home & away from all the public cooties. Rest up between shifts & stay well.

Mick, sorry to hear about your brother’s friend. It’s hard losing friends so near Christmas.
I have ordered so much on Amazon I get almost daily deliveries, haha. There really are no shops nearby so ordering online just makes sense for me. The bigger problem with my dog is she gets hostile when someone brings another dog in here. I already had my big Swissy when I brought Matilda home as a pup so they were friends. I’m getting too old to deal with another puppy so she will just have to get used to things as they are right now. Please remind us where you are going?

Slo, glad you had some time with Huxley. It’s exciting when they learn. To talk
Sorry about your brother’s choice to drink in his truck, not ever a good look. Hope he sees the light sooner….
Now that I have 3 new light bulbs I just may have to put 2 of them in my will because the original one lasted. 20 years!!!! Still don’t know what happened to the lighting company, they made really nice work lamps. Maybe they were put out of business by Chinese imports? Who knows?
Yes, I am worried about my younger friend. I know she’s trying to do better (health wise) but the problems seem to be getting ahead of her. I also have those tilt in windows which makes cleaning easier but I think they’re hard to get back into place. Watch your fingers on those things too - ouch.

Hello to Pie, Wags, Fly & Kensho if you’re looking in too. Sam, we haven’theard from you for quite a while either.

Have a nice night all!
