Re: Dec10

Good thing you’re staying a long-ish time, Mick, to make up for that bad travel day. And at least you slept like a log!

Congratulations, KENSHO! Your post was food for thought. That’s an accurate assessment of how we all get when chronically on alcohol. It makes me realize how important it is to stay off of it.

PQ, you’ll have a smooth slide into your two weeks off with Boss and accountant both gone next week.

TG, my daughter and son-in-law have both been left quite fatigued after their recent bouts with COVID. And D3’s sense of smell is diminished. Now she can’t tell when Andy has a poopy diaper!

I had a nice visit with my friend. She stayed over for two nights.

I received news a couple days ago that my other friend, the one I visited last month when I put Boyd in the pet hotel; has been diagnosed with a return of her cancer. She had cancer on her eyeball about 10 years ago, and now it’s in a lung. I am so sad about that.

I had an X-ray done yesterday, and my pelvis is still crooked, but much closer to being aligned. So I have a new, thicker lift to get used to under the orthotic.
I can tell my condition is improving, because I was able to do much more physical work on Monday, before the point where I became too exhausted and in pain!

My stationary indoor bike still cause too much knee pain though. I like my old Schwinn Airdyne because it exercises my arms too, but it’s not accommodating the dumb knee replacement. I’ll have to find something else.

I hope today’s early day at work is working out for you, TG. Three of those in a row over a weekend sounds like a killer.

I think it’s fun to play cards & games with people too, Pie!

Are these your last dozen chickens, Lav?

Bye for now.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Evening greetings everyone,

We had another sunny & cool day today. After 10 pm we should be able to go outside & see Geminid meteors so I’ll give it a try. I can be such a nerd sometimes haha! I always took my kids outside for these things, it’s a good habit.

Speaking of habits - CONGRATS to you Kensho on your 6 years AF :yay:
It’s so true, our new healthy habits definitely rub off on others, noting wrong with that. Keep up the good work.

PQ, I’m sure you’re ready for your 2 week break. Hope the rest of the week is easy for you.
Our bizarre weather keeps jumping back & forth, no way to really prepare Lol

Mick, enjoy your beach bum life this week. I hope the sun catches up with you

Slo, good to hear there’s some improvement in your pelvic alignment. You really should consider writing a book when this is all over to help others with the same issue. Yes, I have 12 hens left out there & got 1 egg today. So you see they are mostly retired at this point, don’t blame them. I’ll just keep them fed & safe until they cross the rainbow bridge. Sorry to hear about your friend’s cancer recurrence. Is she facing surgery, chemo?

Cyn, hope your day wasn’t too harsh

Hello to Pie & everyone, have a nice night all!

MAE ALL...we hit 12C/55F today. This is some crazy weather for Dec 13th.

Mick...glad your sleep was good, you needed it after that commute. The pics look great, thanks for sending them. Relax and enjoy yourselves.

Slo...glad your friend was able to stay over 2 nights, sounds like you had a good time. Sounds like the xray was a positive result if only a little. It's going in the right direction anyways.

Lav...looked up Geminid meteors. Hope your skies are clear and you have a great show. It felt like a Friday today and I'm sure it'll feel that way for the next 2 days. I'm not repeating the forecast anymore because by the time I post it's changed. Booked my colonoscopy for March. That's one procedure a month for 3 months. I think after that I'm done.

Nothing much going on so I'll just say hi to the rest of the gang and have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

MAE ALL…well the weatherman got it right for once. Said we could expect snow showers around noon changing into snow later in the afternoon, he was bang on. It’s the heavy wet stuff but I don’t think it’ll last long.

Mick…great pics. There sure is a lot of sand to blow around. Nice temp, keep that noggin covered.

I am going to spend the weekend putting a schedule together for all the Dr. visits I have coming up. I just know that there is nothing in December because I rescheduled that one to January. LOL
Will check back for Lav’s post. Shout out to the gang. Have a good night….:smile:PPQP

Good evening friends,

We went out for a bite to eat then drove thru the light display at the Herrs Factory. It?s a pretty sight & free entertainment
Just heard we?re in for a nor?easter Sunday, oh well. Tons of rain & wind is better than a snowstorm I guess.

PQ, sounds like you?re starting off the new year in a healthy way. I hope all the testing is easy & goes well. Hope that snow you gottoday doesn?t hang around too long.

Mick, loved that pic of the water, rocks & sand, very cool. A 7 mile walk is a hike by the way LOL
Enjoy the sun & nice temp & like PQ said, cover that head

Hello to Cyn, hope all is well.
Hello to Slo, Pie & everyone checking in tonight.

I delivered my last two pillows to a local customer today so my shop is now closed!!!! They can pester me all they want but I?ll be busy baking cookies & important things like that haha!!

It?s hard to get clear pics while driving thru the Herrs campus but here's a fewIMG_6549.jpgIMG_6551.jpg

Have a nice night all!

Re: Dec10

Mae all -
The weekend pretty much wiped me out, then Monday I spent a lot of time at the eye doctors, and picking out 2 new pairs of glasses. I was at Costco, so it was okay to get 2 - now I will have a decent backup pair in case I break the glasses (like I just did! But they were 2years old.) it was good to hear that my eyes are in great shape - hardly any cataract activity, so that?s good..
I took myself to the local ?indie? movie house on Tuesday night and saw ?It?s a Wonderful Life? a great holiday film from the 40s? it was a thrill to see it on the big screen. I needed a treat like that, as earlier in the day another woman and I made 300 hot meals and 100 sandwiches for the Homeless Outreach. It was very gratifying, but I was tired after that!
The early shifts last week were fine - I love working in the early part of the day? this week I?m working until 10pm, so that?s harder, but whatever.
PPQ, good luck with all those tests - soon it will be ?done and dusted?!
Pie, good luck with the dog collar, hope it goes on easily.
SLO, so sorry about your friend, dear me what a diagnosis. Glad though that you are seeing some improvement in your hips, good news.
Lav, I miss hearing about your big sweet dog. What a story about her returning a chicken to the coop! Congrats on shutting down the shop for now. Wishing you happy hours baking and making pierogies.
Mick, your vacay place is so beautiful! Thanks for the pics. I hope you are relaxing dnd enjoying!
Kendo, huge congrats! Thank you for letting us celebrate with you!
Okay kids, I?m off to bed, can hardly keep my eyes open.
Cheers,
TG

Hiya all how are we doing today? Hope all is well. Remember i said a lot of sand blowing around? I found out why the Canaries has been homit with a calima .thats a combination of a dust and sandstorm..only we could manage to bring a storm with us.I found a mobile phone yesterday...lying on a wall.not a cheap and nasty one but a Samsung s23 the latest one.to buy it is in the region of about ?500.though i suspect its on contract. I could see the front screen but couldn't do anything because they had pin locked it .the entries were in German, but the phone was Spanish bought that makes me think its a German expat. They phoned it about 4 times but of course i couldn’t answer .they then killed the sim card.i went to a nearby shop, but no one had reported it missing i will go back this morning if no joy thenbi will take it to the copshop and hand it in.
Still pretty blowy here today .head will be covered again..I am sorry i ain't replying individually but i am reading them.
Teegee did you get the new glasses? Here's one for you. When i go away i take readers long distance and sunglasses.but i put a set in each case and a set in my backpack. .juli had put a couple of pairs in as well s o this is how it ended up

Re: Dec10

Evening greetings everyone,

Enjoyed the sun again today, it hit 56 degrees, nice. Rain on the way Sunday & Monday so I got out for a hair cut, a walk thru Walmart & the drugstore to pick up an Rx

PQ, yes we did go to the Herrs light display last year. It’s only about a 15 min. Ride from here in a neighboring town. It’s exciting but also peaceful to just drive thru slowly & take it all in. My young neighbor just asked me this afternoon if I was busy with orders & I told her NOPE, haha. I’m on my self prescribed vacay now Hope your day was good!

Cyn, it’s always so good getting new glasses & being able to see clearly again. Smart getting an extra pair too!
I always preferred 2nd shift but it wasn’t great for family life. I was able to get things done at home, laundry, etc & even cook a meal before leaving for work at 2:15pm. The family always had decent food to come home to & fill themselves up. I really miss Maxie too, she was a good friend & chicken keeper. Glad you enjoyed the film, sounds nice.

Mick, I wouldn’t even know where to begin whipping up a sandstorm, Lol. I really think we’re all experiencing weird weather right now.
I’ll bet someone is sad losing. Their phone like that, what a shame. Enjoy the rest of your stay.

Hello to Pie, Slo, Wags & anyone stopping in later.

Have a good night all!

MAE ALL...

TG...good news that there's hardly any cataract activity and well done on getting new glasses. I would love to see "It's a Wonderful Life" on the big screen, nice present to yourself. And you deserved it after all those meals for the Homeless Outreach. "Done and dusted" just reminded me of my Mom. It's funny how some sayings live on forever. Hope you had a good night's sleep.

Mick...mother nature didn't want you to feel left out. After rain and snow storms she just stepped up with dust and sand storms. Samsung S23 is the phone I got and you're right it isn't cheap. I sure hope they check in at the cop shop before giving up finding it. Oh my...the glasses :rotlf: Thanks for sharing I needed a good laugh.

Lav...I'm determined to get my hair cut this weekend!!! Weather still really mild with no snow. I am going into work for awhile tomorrow, I've agreed to do a hall viewing for a big rental event in March. Plus we are having a Community Craft Day so will make sure everything is setup and staff and volunteers know what they're doing. Bet it felt great to say NOPE to your young neighbour.

Shout out to the gang and Sam it would be nice to see a quick hi from you.

Looking forward to no boss or accountant next week. Hope everyone has a peaceful evening....:smile:PPQP

Morning to all! (unless it’s your evening…)

PQ, having two reasons to go in to work today makes it worthwhile. Hope your weekend is good.

TG, good news that you’re not developing cataracts!
I watched some of “It’s a Wonderful Life” on TV last night, until I got too tired. I never saw that one while growing up, but it’s ex-HB’s favorite holiday movie.
You are such a hard worker to be able to put that many meals together!

Lav, the Herr’s light show is a great holiday treat and tradition. We have something similar here -but they charge $15 per car! So I don’t bother with it.
My friend with cancer is being started on the new one to start with: immunotherapy.

7 miles is definitely a “hike” in my book, Mick!
I can’t believe you escaped rain and storms, only to encounter a sand storm.
All of the hair appointments converging at the same time are because of upcoming Christmas! Mine is on Thursday.

My daughter’s big toe diagnosis is being changed from atypical gout to a complex-sounding stress fracture. Although she has no memory of any injury involving her toe! So, maybe just caused from the increased joint laxity from the fertility treatments. She’s all done with the brutal fertility treatments. They are considering surrogacy or adoption now.

Here we go, into the week before Christmas! I hope wagmor gets some time off around Christmas.
