    Re: Dec17th

    Greetings folks,

Sunny & cool here today but I never left the house. Spent a good deal of the day baking cookies, I think I’m about over that now hahah.

Mick, glad to hear Julie is better, no fun being sick on vacation. It’s a shame the weather has been so nasty for you guys. I hope conditions are better for your next trip. We have been promised sun & 50 degrees Christmas day, go figure

Slo, I’m so glad to hear you are making yourself the #1 priority right now. Your girls should be understanding & not expecting you to cancel appts.
Your ex really should have no reason to make your girls lie to you. If that’s what he’s doing then he’s a loser. I really wouldn’t even want to be in his company but that’s your choice. Possibly he’s not as happy as he wants people to believe - just a thought. Keep focusing on yourself & your progress on getting stronger

Hellos to PQ, Cyn, Pie, Fly & anyone stopping by.
    Have a nice night all!

      Re: Dec17th

MAE ALL...quick post as I just got home from work and am heading over to the neighbours for a visit. It has been brutally quiet at work, I find the day just drags. It'll be a little busier tomorrow as I've got an engagement party booked in starting at 3pm. That'll make the rest of the day go quick.

Mick...not surprised it's a no for going back, you'll be glad to be on your next adventure.

Slo...good for you sticking your ground. It's time for you.

Lav...we woke up to 10C/50F this morning. Last year on this day it was -35C/-31F, no climate change going on here. LOL Our Christmas day weather is forecast the same as yours.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

        Mae all -
Lav, I hope your b-day was a good one? I love the suggestion of 60/10; perfect. You are more active than a normal 60 yr old! And congrats on all those pierogies!
Mick, I hope that your travel home is safe, and the trip to Julie?s brother is good.
PPQ, wishing work days that pass quickly!
SLO, sounds like you are putting yourself more and more as Priority No. 1. Good job, keep at it!
Pie, how are the dogs? Always a tricky thing to do Rescue during a holiday. I hope all is well.
Hi to Fly and all dropping by.
I took myself to see the film ?Maestro? last night. Quite amazing? true-to-life about Bernstein and his life? a complicated person and complicated life.
But the shots of the concert halls and him conducting the orchestra, and his wife standing in the wings watching? that brought me right back to the years when that was my life. Theatres and orchestras and traveling and dressing rooms. And helping a person who had just spent 100% of their energy on creating a thrilling performance. That part of the film I lived in real life, and it reminded me of my past. The sad disfunction of The Bernsteins is just this side of tragic, but it is a tale well told. The acting is really superb.
I hope all holiday preparations are coming along for each of you -
        Cheers,
        TG

Hiya all .how are we doing? Hope all is well..unfortunately not so clever this end the bug returned to Julie with a vengeance. Not sure if she was over it completely..but I have got it now. Despite all the careful precautions..oh well..24 hrs on no food wont hurt me .as long as we are ok for the flight tomorrow. Guess it's a lazy day here

          Hope everyone is well

            Re: Dec17th

Oh, Mick; what a bad ending to a bad vacation. I really hope it’s just a 24-hr. bug for you.

TG, ouch. How hard to see essentially your own life as it had been, up there on the big screen. Lots of emotions and memories were stirred up.

PQ, only two more days of work!

Lav…any chance that both of your kids and their families are gathering with you at the same time for Christmas? Or is son’s shift work preventing that, or is it still better to keep DIL away from the others?

I guess yesterday was just a lot of miscommunication between D2, D4, D1 and me. And D4 was not lying to me; ex-HB’s girlfriend was there in the morning, and ex-HB was there later in the day to help Young Daughter with the kids. I guess I can count my blessings that I wasn’t stuck with childcare: Young Daughter is exhausted after two days of babysitting her niece & nephews. I’ll see the kids over Christmas.

Hi to Wags & Pie too!

              Greetings everyone,

Weather remains the same although it is all cloudy now. No rain predicted until next Tuesday so that’s good.
Picked up our fresh kielbasa order today, yay. You can’t expect a local butcher at the Amish market to make it taste like real Polish sausage but at least this sausage isn’t overloaded with garlic, haha! Just staying busy with little stuff, nothing big.

PQ, hope today went by a little quicker for you. My daughter is so thrilled today was the last day at the autism school where she works. She REALLY looks forward to the school breaks, Lol

Cyn, I like the 60/10 concept too, thanks! I worked with SO many geriatric patients over the years & I am grateful to say I can run rings around them haha!
The Berstein film sounds very interesting & I’m sure you were flooded with memories. To think about all the things we did when we were young is just amazing. Sometimes I can’t believe some of the things I saw & did (work related). I hope you have an easy few days before Christmas & can catch up on your rest

Mick, so sorry to hear you are unwell. This time of year viruses run rampant, it’s hard to completely avoid them. What a bummer of a vacation for you two. How you improve quickly, take good care

Slo, I don’t even know if my son & his crew are coming Christmas eve. He’s always been such a last minute type of guy, haha. I guess I’ll find out then & not before. I always make enough food to handle the crowd. My DIL smartly stayed to herself last year & hope she does the same if she comes this year.
Well it’s good to know there was no lying going on with your girls. I’m glad you weren’t pressured into watching kids right now. I hope your recovery continues in a forward fashion

Hello to Pie, Fly, Wags & everyone.
              Have a nice night all!

                Re: Dec17th

MAE ALL...the renter's decorator was an hour late getting here, just as well as the crew setting up the hall was 1/2 hr late. The night staff didn't show up and when I texted the boss he said oh, he's running late. Thanks for letting me know!!! Just home now and the childcare director said come in late tomorrow. There is nothing scheduled for tomorrow so I've decided to meet up with a girlfriend for breakfast and get to work when I get there. LOL

Mick...you just can't catch a break can you. So sorry Julie got hit again and now you. Sending you positive thoughts to rid whatever it is and be well for tomorrow's flight.

TG...I know nothing about the Bernsteins but I could sure see how you saw your life in the movie. I'm sure it brought back lots of memories. Hoping the days leading up to Christmas aren't too hectic for you.

Slo...only 1 more sleep! I'm glad you'll see the kids over Christmas and that everything was a miscommunication.

Lav...the day was going pretty good, the 2 childcare directors and I treated ourselves to Chinese Food for lunch. The building super set up all the tables for tonight's event and he put out chairs for us to have our lunch. We invited him to join us but the offer to take off after the tables were set won out. LOL Does your daughter get 2 weeks off? Nobody is interfering with my break come hell or high water. The boys and I have been invited over to my brothers for Christmas Eve, it'll be nice to catch up with all the changes going on in their lives. I'm going to have to read back to figure out what this 60/10 concept is???

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

                      Re: Dec17th

                      Good evening everyone,

Chillier today, high temp was 39 degrees. Feels like Christmas & the goofballs are out on the roads, dangerous driving, geeez.
I only have a few actual gifts to wrap, most are getting gift cards but I want to get it done tonight. Cooking & cleaning until the gang arrives Christmas eve will keep me busy & out of trouble.

PQ, that’s nice you're going to your brother’s for the holiday, hope you all have fun catching up.
Yes, my daughter is off now until school restarts in the new year, she’s excited haha! I hope you have a wonderful uninterrupted vacation too

Mick, I’m so sorry you guys are dealing with a virus, ugh. It might be smart to cancel plans so you don’t accidentally pass the virus on to your brother. We are apparently in the midst of a new Covid variant spreading like wildfire in the NE portion of the US. I hate it lots of people will be getting sick unfortunately. Please take care of yourselves & get home safely

Hellos going out to Cyn, Slo, Pie & anyone checking in tonight.

                      Have a nice night all!

                        Re: Dec17th

                        Good morning!
We crested the shortest day / longest night of the year now!

D3 & her HB & baby Andy are with me for a couple days! All is going well. I bought a large play pen-type area that is keeping Andy corralled with his toys, and that is working out.

My daughters had an early 60th birthday celebration for me last night. We had a nice afternoon /evening together, getting our nails done, going out for a good dinner at a Lebanese restaurant, and some painting/ crafting together. Such sweet girls. Huxley entertained us; constantly smiling at a phone, saying “cheese”; then kept answering the phone, saying “Hellooo”. And he said “Gramma” twice! D1 couldn’t make it due to sick kids, and my sister couldn’t make it due to being sick.

I figured out “6/10”, PQ; Mick referred to Lav being “sixty + ten” years old now.
Way to roll with everyone being late, and make it work for you too; with a bonus breakfast out with a friend.

Lav, the teachers look forward to Christmas break just as much as the students do. That can’t be easy working with autistic kids. Your daughter NEEDS a break from that.

                        Loved the “Schmidt” joke, Mick!

Hi to Pie, Wags, TG, and all as we head into Christmas weekend.

hiya all how are we doing ? hope all is well.thats us home ..and even that didnt go well...there was a freak torrential storm while we were at the airport ..we were sitting watching it ...When the bags and cases came off the belt at manchester they were all saturated ..they had left them on the runway in the downpour uncovered ..the result being the cases and contents were saturated ...I had a book in the case ..it is totally shot ..plus we were an hour late in leaving .
We have binned the van over christmas ...we are staying at home ..still dont feel brilliant ...on holiday I lost 4lb in weight ..Julie 6 never had that before ..
First and last time... we fly with Jet2 .com.

Picked the rabbits up earlier lovely to see them again ..So its Chrimbo at home for us .

                            Re: Dec17th

                            Greetings friends,

I spent the morning cleaning & the afternoon cooking. No wonder holidays are so exhausting!
Looking forward to having my crew here tomorrow even if they do ignore one another haha.

Mick, glad you’re home safe. This trip seemed to have some bad karma attached or something. It occurred to me this morning that you & Julie likely picked up a virus on the plane. After a short incubation period got sick . Staying home for Christmas is a wise choice & I hope you both feel better & get yourselves hydrated!!!!

Slo, great to hear you have company . Those little ones grow so fast you won’t believe your eyes.
My daughter often sends me pics of the kids she works with & explains what she’s trying to teach them to do. Most of them are non-verbal & make noise all the time. It would surely get on my nerves. I give her a lot of credit for going in each day knowing what she’s facing. Some of those kids are very low IQ so there’s a limit what they can learn. Enjoy your holiday weekend.

Cyn, PQ, Pie, Sam, Fly & anyone looking in - Hello

Wishing a good night for all. I’ll check in tomorrow evening after everyone leaves & peace returns Lol

MAE ALL...woke up to a dusting of snow. Don't think it'll stick around for Christmas as temps are still predicted to be above zero. Put out all kinds of signage and warnings asking people to stay off the outdoor hockey rink until we got the base ice formed. Drove past today and nope, all kinds of people ignoring all the caution tape and skating. I bet the majority of them don't even have a community membership. It would serve them right if the rink volunteers just said to h$ll with it.

Mick...I'm so glad you're home. What an ordeal, even up to the bitter end with the torrential storm. On a positive note the rabbits are healthy and glad you're home. Wow, this must be a Christmas at home in a long while? You guys take it easy and get well.

Lav...and I thought all the goofballs were on the roads here. OMG! Although I refuse to cook a turkey I did pick up a frozen turkey breast which I'll cook with all the fixings. I've been craving Beef Dips so we'll have a roast one night and beef dips for left overs. That'll be the extent of my holiday cooking, unlike your mounds of perogies. Hope your crew get together is drama free.

Slo...well done on the large play pen-type area, that solved a lot of stress. How nice to celebrate an early 60th birthday with your daughters. Thanks for the "60/10" clarification. Now I don't have to do all that scrolling back. LOL Further to the late arrival of the night staff on Friday when the instructor for the dance class showed up at 6:20pm he was sound asleep. Took her several bangs on the counter to wake him up. So much for him being responsible for the 200 people in the hall.

Thinking of everyone who haven't checked in lately, I know life goes on, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas...:smile:PPQP
