    Re: 24th December

Ho Ho Ho and Christmas Eve greetings, friends,

It?s still shorts and flip flops weather here, though cooler temps are in the forecast. My nod to holiday cooking will be a crockpot pea soup. Easy enough. Took on a year end project for the dog rescue group, reviewing charitable donations and sending thank yous/receipts. Enjoyed brushing up on my spreadsheet skills. Once a nerd, always ?

Feeling no need for alcohol; such a gift that is! Hope that all of your holiday gifts are precious!

      Merry Christmas All...

Mick...so glad you and Julie are starting to recover and were actually able to eat. No surprise with your weather but at least you're home. Brekkie was great, one of those unexpected opportunities. I did manage to get into work before 11:00am LOL. Wishing you and Julie a Merry Christmas.

Pi...shorts & flip flops!!! Don't know about pea soup bur crockpot soup is top of my to do list. Yes, once a nerd always a nerd. Good for you taking on the year end project, one nerd to another, I know how rewarding that can feel. Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Lav...wishing you all the best and hope the gathering was drama free. My niece has moved to a small island off of Vancouver Island and I want to send "personalized book bags" to her 3 kids. Will be in touch with you. Our weather remains around the freezing mark but we were able to open the outdoor hockey rink. Above freezing temps all week so we'll see how the ice holds up.

Enjoyed a very interesting catch up with my brother and his wife. Lots of changes happening with their family, all good. My nieces and nephews sure are more courageous than I was at their age. Wishing the rest of the group a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year....:smile:PPQP

        Merry Christmas eve everyone!

The family left here, well fed & happy. DIL texted at 2:30 to say she wasn’t coming, she had another invitation. What could possibly be more important than spending the evening with your family? Even her Dad came over with our son & grandsons. Whatever! A nice time was had by all & no dramas.

Mick, glad you & Julie are feeling better & able to eat. What a memory this trip will be for you!
You’re getting a lot of rain, we only had a few light showers that didn’t last long. 53 degrees & partly sunny for us for Christmas. Have a good one

PQ, glad you enjoyed your catch up with your brother. You’re right about the kids these day, they think nothing of jumping into big new things all on their own. Glad you’re not snowed in for the holiday. I’ll be happy to talk to you about the bookbags

Pie, flip flops & shorts huh? Enjoy the warmth & I hope your soup was great! Good luck with the spreadsheets - a nightmare for me, Lol

Hello to Cyn, Slo & everyone.

        Have a nice night all!

              Merry Christmas friends!

Today was definitely a day to rest after all the festivities last night. Mild outside at 51 degrees, not much sun. We’ve been grazing from the refrigerator all day, lots of leftovers haha! Watching football too which I usually don’t do.

Sam, good to see you & Merry Christmas to you.

Mick, glad you’re feeling better. Nice you were able to get your FIL out for a holiday visit & meal. I’m sure he was worn out afterwards.
I hope you find a good laptop sale. I’m going to be looking for a new mattress again. This one is killing me haha!

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Slo, Pie, Fly & everyone. Let’s all have a good night!

                    Re: 24th December

HAPPY BOXING DAY ALL...spent all day yesterday eating!! Didn't do a turkey but did do a frozen turkey breast, which turned out fabulous, plus all the fixings. Nice and moist and easy peazy. Will definitely to that again.

Lav...maybe, just maybe, DIL bowed out Christmas Eve so that you could all enjoy being together. I'm glad you all had a good time. We were cooler Christmas Eve but today it's a balmy 10C/50F and warmer temps, no snow in the forecast all week. Great time to be on a 2 week break.

Sam...ho ho ho to you too. So good to see you popping in, makes me know that you're still keeping an eye on us.

Mick...so glad to hear that you were able to get to get to Julie's SIL's and with your FIL, well done. Sorry the weather continues to be a downer, but at least you're at home. Good luck with the laptop and fridge/freezer purchase, you're braver than me with post Christmas sales.

Wishing all of you and TG, Slo, Pie, Fly & everyone all the best in the New Year....:smile:PPQP

                      Good evening friends,

Cloudy but near 50 degrees here today. Tomorrow we’re getting an inch + of rain. This may end up being another snowless winter.

Mick, we’re still eating leftovers here, tired of them already, haha! Glad you’re feeling more normal & moving about. My newest laptop is a Lenovo - don’t know if you get them there but if you can find one buy one. I still like my iPad the best
Don’t hurt your wallet too much, we don’t want to hear you crying LOL

PQ, whatever kept my DIL away from the family was a true blessing. Everyone was relaxed & talked to one another, including my two kids. Made me very happy since I’ve been chatting with you on Messenger while I’m posting here I’ll just say - stay safe & healthy

Hello to Cyn, are you getting snow? The news shows snow in your area. Take care

Slo, Pie, Sam, Wags, kensho & everyone.

                      Have a nice night all!

                        Re: 24th December

                        Mae all -
Finally figured out how to log onto my husband?s iPad... so much easier than trying to do it on my phone, or on the big computer... yay!)

First of all, happy 2nd day of Christmas! I watched Lucy Worsley?s (name?) 12 Day of Tudor Christmas (PBS) last night, and loved it. I think our culture should go back to celebrating until the ?12th Night?, have a special cake, and then think about going back into the real world. Even if the things made for the Henry the 8th were somewhat outrageous, the holiday lasted 12 days for everyone in the land... no working allowed! Now it seems that everything happens before the holiday... Just me being sentimental.

So, I made a quieter time for myself. It looked like there would be snow on Xmas Day, and I didn?t want to drive an hour to my niece?s for the family dinner. So I didn?t. I went a day ahead (in the rain), and got a nice quiet chat with my niece. I took all the prepared things to make the Brussel Sprout salad that I promised (braised brussels, pancetta, hand-made croutons from fruit-studded bread, sauted apples, etc. Everything was ready for my niece to combine it with an apple cider dressing.)
I had fun making it... I hope it tasted OK!

I stayed in and watched PBS - Worsley?s 12 Days, than Mary Berry?s Christmas... (I used to cook a lot; but when you live alone, it?s easier and more fun to watch cooking videos
I worked today from 6 bAM to 2 PM - it was snowing a lot, so I was glad I could walk across the street to my apartment...

Mick, what a long haul you and Julie had getting well!! I hope that you are truly over that terrible bug, and that the rest of the Christmas Days are happy and healthy.
Lav, what a relief that DIL didn?t come to the celebration meal... and your kids got to talk to one another - such a holiday bonus!! I?m sure you were tired out from the time together... all that preparation, and setting the table for lots of people... I hope you got a good nap in today!
PPQ - your celebration sounds just right... we should all do whatever we want for the day! Glad things went okay at work...
Pie, I had to laugh at the ?flipflops?! I love thinking of all the happy homes that you have placed pups in the last year - fabulous.
SLO - sounds like you were able to have some happy times, great!
Sam, hello and thanks for the greeting - and hellos to Wags, Fly, Kensho and all others dropping by...
                        Cheers,
                        TG

                            Re: 24th December

                            Greetings,

My new laptop is a Lenovo Yoga. I like it, and it turns out that Young Daughter’s latest laptop is a Lenovo Yoga too! It was still on sale, even though I missed the Black Friday sales. I still like using my iPad the most though. Glad you finally can use your husband’s iPad, TG.

Young Daughter is so, so sick from contact with D1 & her three sick kids at the beginning of her college Christmas break, that she is just sobbing in pain. Her Christmas break has been ruined, and she couldn’t see many of the people that she wanted to see. Now it’s an ear infection too, as well as in her chest and sinuses. I wonder if D1 even warned her that her kids were sick, before D4 headed up there?
My twin sister went up to see the her & the kids the first week of December, and she has been quite sick ever since then.
Young Daughter passed it on to me, and I’m trying mightily to keep it at the throat level. DayQuil and especially NyQuil have been my constant companions.

That’s weird that your DIL didn’t come over when even her dad was there, Lav; but thankfully she didn’t! Your two kids could then relax around each other.

                            Turkey breast is perfect, PQ!
Your Brussels sprout salad sounds amazing, TG. I got my little sister’s recipe for roasted, then glazed, Brussels sprouts after Thanksgiving. So good.
I belabored over a fruited coleslaw for Christmas, and made too much; but at least it was good. I made hummus too, with crackers & pita chips.

                            Hi, Sam!

We had a very warm Christmas here as well, Pie -although not quite as warm as in Texas though!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

                              Good evening all,

Cloudy & rainy all day, ugh. The heavier ‘flooding rain’ will be here later tonight. I don’t think we’ll see any sun tomorrow. Miss it Lol
Sick of eating leftovers so I made a double batch of oat flour waffles, had some for dinner & will use the rest for breakfast for several days.

Cyn, so you did get the snow I saw on the news! Glad you didn’t try to drive in it but still got to see your niece. I love that Brussel sprouts salad, yum.
I had the sniffles for several days, thought it was allergy related but I think now it’s a full blown run of the mill cold. So I’m just hanging out & not doing much. Have fun with the iPad, they’re so easy to use

Mick, we got your weather here, thanks haha!! Good you found a freezer you like. We have ours stuffed with all kinds of stuff.
Now onto the search for a new laptop . No crying, you’re a big boy now!!

Slo, families passing germs around is so typical. I really think it would be considerate to let people know your kids are sick so precautions can be taken. It’s a shame D1 didn’t think about that. I’m loading up on cold meds today too, gotta keep functioning. I hope your younger daughter feels better soon, you as well.

Hello to PQ, hope that phone has been silent for you!

Hello to Pie, Wags, Sam & everyone. Have a nice night all!
