      Re: 24th December

      Greetings friends,

Got up this morning feeling like I was smacked in the face with a large board, Lol. Some of you know how intense sinus pressure can be. I can’t take decongestants anymore because of my BP so I just have to wait this thing out. Good thing I don’t need to go anywhere.

Mick, wow a tornado so close to home. You’re absolutely right about the weather being so goofed up. Glad you didn’t have any damage. Good luck with your freezer delivery. YB is doing fine, just some occasional aches & pains but nothing like he had all during the fall.

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Slo, Pie, Wags, Sam, Fly & anyone else checking in.
Seeing all the commercials for wine, champagne & booze during the holiday season makes me so grateful I don’t waste money or brain cells on that stuff anymore
      Have a nice night all!

        Re: 24th December

Quick hello, as I am on my phone once again. I am so sorry you are sick, Lav. That is just SO unfair, after all your work for the holiday. SLO, I hope you can dodge the virus. Mick, a TORNADO? Love your itinerary planning. I will meet you in Scotland. (Ha). PPQ, Pie, and all others, wishing you good post Christmas ease. I will be back to work tomorrow after a 3 day break. I am ready. Too much sitting around is no good.
All best wishes to you friends
        TG

MAE ALL...checking in to let you know all is well and with auto reply to emails and voice mail have not been interrupted workwise.

Mick...almost tropical conditions, sorry to hear about your weather, unbelievable. Not back to work until Jan 8th. YAY

Lav...sorry you got smacked in the face this morning. I keep thinking I'm over this cold/cough, feeling great one day and the next back to coughing again. It's been going on 2 months now and apparently is quite common right now. Thankfully I too do not have to go anywhere.

Slo...hope you've been successful in keeping whatever bug got passed around at bay.

TG...glad you're looking forward to going back to work, I'm so looking forward to not going back to work. LOL

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

mae all ...0648 ...up since 5 ...Chest freezer ready to go and garage sorted for the new one ...bearing in mind I have to route cabling to stop the peskies on it!!Splitting headache this morning dont know whats behind that one .It isnt raining at the moment but very strong winds

hiya ppqp ..how are you this morning? not back until the 8th ...result.sorry to hear that your cold hasnt b.ggered off yet..take care

hiya teegee ...and the very best to you too.back on the phone?is that through preference ? kind of like me ..I ve got an all singing Amazon fire ..kindle ..and yet I prefer reading books!!yep Ill be back in Jockland later on in the year ,although Im looking forward to seeing the south coast of England .hope you have a nice day at work.

hiya Lav ..hows the sinus doing?hope things have calmed down a bit and you are ok .glad yb is doing ok .I see that the advertising of booze is on the increase again ..at one stage it was on the way out...isnt it strange that they have clamped down so rigorously on cigarettes ..and yet not so on booze ..I worked it out ..roughly on the prices I paid back then and not taking into consideration any increases..I would have wasted ?28,3200 on booze alone .not so convinced about the wasted brain cells in my case tho!!!Im pretty sure that booze played its part in my head exploding back then !
            do the Amish celebrate Christmas?

hiya everyone else hope we are doing ok .

As the bus pulled up at the bus stop and it was her turn to get on, Melissa became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to raise to the height of the first step of the bus:
Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind herself to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg. She tried to take the step, only to discover that she still couldn't.
So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the third time attempted the step.
Once again, much to her dismay, she could not raise her leg. With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little more and again was unable to take the step.
At this point, a large bodybuilder who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus.
She went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan and yelled. "How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!"
The bodybuilder smiled and drawled. "Well, ma'am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured we was friends!"

I was doing up my trousers but got distracted singing along to Disney songs ,and now I've zippered me doodah

10 weeks to Pancake Day and already the shops are selling flour and eggs!

Got sad news today. After 7 years of medical training, my good friend has been struck off after one minor indiscretion. He slept with one of his patients & now can no longer work in the job he loves. What a waste of time, training & money. A genuinely nice guy, and a great vet.

              Re: 24th December

The joke about the lady’s skirt is hilarious, Mick! And the one about Prince Harry is so true.
It has been rainy here too.

Thankfully I have never had sinus pain, Lav. That makes it so hard if you can’t take decongestants. My cold is trying to go into my chest now, and the coughing is getting worse.
It is common to pass colds around at family gatherings, but D1 & her HB have nearly caused World War 3 on his side of the family. A huge fallout was caused when they brought their very sick kids to a family gathering with his brother’s family and their same-age kids. The brother & his wife didn’t want their very young kids being exposed and getting sick, and it caused a huge rift: the brothers didn’t speak for over a year, and the cousins never see each other. Then over Thanksgiving, D1 & her HB again brought their sick kids around some of his family. His mom and sister both ended up with pink eye, and they were ticked. His parents are visiting there now. Hopefully they don’t catch this severe, persistent, nasty cold from them.

Lav, I thought I needed a new mattress too; even though I had just gotten a new mattress! It turns out that it was my pelvis, back, & neck that were severely out of whack. That was my problem; not the mattress! Just a thought.

TG, glad you are well-rested and eager to return.

                Re: 24th December

                Good evening friends,

We had a return of the sun today . It was definitely nice to see after all the cloudy & rainy days this month.
I pulled the frozen half turkey breast out of the freezer & made a pot pie, yum. Baked it up in the Cuisinart using the convection setting & was done in 20 minutes!!! I really love that appliance, saves time & money (energy wise).

Cyn, I get restless if I sit around too long as well. Getting back to work isn’t always a bad thing. I hope your day was good!

PQ, not sure where I picked up this cold virus but I hope it goes away soon. I definitely didn’t feel as bad this morning, yesterday was horrible. Woke up at 3:30 am coughing my head off, got up took another swig of cough syrup then went back to sleep for another 4 hrs, haha. Do yo take any Vitamin C? I can’t tolerate more than 500 mg/day but I think it does help me immune wise. Hope you’re over it soon.

Mick, the splitting headache seems to be a feature in this viral thing, hope you’re not getting it too. I hope the freezer delivery went well.
Yes, the Amish celebrate Christmas, a lot like we do. But, with them having such large families the gift giving is very different. The local bishop has 10 or 11 kids, 120+ grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren the last I heard. He told us years ago they all get a pack of chewing gum, haha!!!
I have to agree with Slo, the skirt story is hysterical, Lol

Slo, you’re a lucky girl for never having to deal with sinus issues, ugh. It feels a lot like the top of your head is going to blow off or your eyes are going to pop out, Lol. Disgusting description but basically true. I guess your oldest daughter & her husband need to be told directly to keep their sick kids at home!! It’s kind of astonishing people can be so clueless in this day & age. I guess masking & handwashing need to be reinforced in these instances.
I know I made a mistake buying a firm mattress. I figured it would help keep my spine straight (which it does0 but I didn’t count on the hip & shoulder & elbow aches it’s caused. Maybe I can find something during the January white sales.

Hello to the rest of the group & wishing everyone a nice night!

                  Re: 24th December

hiya all...how are we doing? hope all is good.yesterdays weather was mad ...it ended up snowing ...thankfully the ground was too wet for it to lie .Freezer came yesterday morning ..job done and dusted .Blocked nose and headache though not as bad as yesterday ..probably some lurgy Ive picked up ....they are free ..thats why I would have got them.

hiya Lav hows you today then? whats this sun thing you are talking about ? how are you feeling ? ..its interesting that you talk about mattresses ..I have tried loads over the years ...and its me not them I wake up with really sore shoulders .when you find one let me know!
the local bishop has all those kids? its not his shirt he should have on back to front ,,, better bet would be his trousers!!

hiya Slo how are you doing today then? hope you are ok ...maybe its as we get older the bones take their toll for earlier years .hope your family sorts its differences out pretty quick ...best stay out of it .Im going to do some work on the van today ...check it over etc simply because I like being in it !!!hope you have a good day

big shout to everyone else ..

While many complain about life in general and the cost of living etc, I am sitting on a sofa that costs ?3,500, lovely and warm in front of a fire place costing ?2,300, watching the latest film on a 90" smart TV that costs ?4,000.
Right now, I'm so happy, with no worries and not a care in the world.
Not even the staff at John Lewis, who keep asking me to leave can spoil my day.

                    Re: 24th December

Oh, am I sick. Just like the rest of you! (Well, TG is better, but she’s had her share.) Throwing colloidal silver, DayQuil, NyQuil, Riccola lozenges, Alka-Seltzer, a hot bath with mineral powders added, a sauna, Manuka honey, and lemon ginger tea at it. It’s just getting worse & worse, as they do.
Will spend tonight on the couch with hopefully a good show, then get to bed early.

D3 & her HB stopped by, so I got to rock Andy for a half hour while he napped. That was nice.

Is the Cuisinart your air fryer, Lav?

Time to make dinner and find a good show.

                      Re: 24th December

                      Good evening friends, sickies too

We did have a nice mix of sun & clouds today but it was chillier. No rainstorms or snow to report so that’s good.

Mick, I think I’m rounding the corner with this cold thing, at least my face stopped hurting, ugh.
I don’t think they make mattresses the same anymore. They all seem OK until a few months later then they feel like crap. We definitely need something with more ‘give’ on our pressure points yet being firm enough to keep the spine aligned properly. Why is that so hard to do??
Take care of your lurgy, you don’t want it turning into pneumonia.

Slo, rest & lots of liquids with this viral thing is the way to go. I haven’t done much of anything the past few days, just waiting it out.
Glad you had some Andy time. Yes, my Cuisinart is the air fryer, great device to have. It toasts, bakes, roasts & air fries. Hope yo feel better soon!

Wags, if you’re looking in please stop & say hello,. We miss you

Hello to Pie, PQ, Cyn & everyone.

                      Have a nice night all.

                        MAE ALL...

Mick...you just crack me up with your freebee analogies. Hope you got the wire re-routing for the freezer figured out to avoid a "peskie attack". I've been seeing an info ad on mattress toppers addressing both you and Lav's issues. Will post a link if I see it again. Been seeing some wild weather reports in your area, hope you're not getting hammered.

Slo...sorry to hear that you've been "hit". Speaking from recent experience please stay hydrated.

Lav...we are still experiencing above normal temps and below normal precipitation. Thoughts...the wildfire situation we went through last year is nothing compared to what's coming next. Managed to get out for a haircut today and am soooo disappointed. Looks like the stylist just put a bowl over my head and trimmed around the edges. It may be cheap but will not be going back there again!!

We have partnered with a Corporate Member to put on a New Year's Eve Dance/Social. (First time in the 12 years I've been there that we have opened over the Xmas break and I'm not impressed.) I will be popping in tomorrow afternoon to make sure they have everything they need to get set up.

Thinking of all the rest of our gang and hoping you're all happy and healthy. This can be a tough time for some of us, I know. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP
