    Good evening friends,

Lots of clouds & rain on the menu today, nothing exciting!
Found a new recipe for non dairy potato & mushroom casserole & put that together today ~ pretty good & I have lots of leftovers

Mick, we have twin weather apparently. Not much we can do but wait it out I guess. Staying home was a good choice for you.
Glad you got to see Amy even if was a brief visit.

Hello to the whole crowd, PQ, Cyn, Pie & Slo & anyone else stopping by. I guess I’ll go hope on my bike to nowhere for a while
    Have a nice night all!

Hiya all and how are we doing today the?hope all is good with everyone. Raining here today again ..surprised? Got the fence panels yesterday..they are really quality..and yes they are fitted too .I am going to look at another camera tomorrow..a real bargain if i choose to get it.it has 3d tracking on it and all sorts of things. Here is a picture of a hen harrier in flight that was taken by its current owner.

      Screenshot_20240129_112538_Gallery.jpg
I have always liked taking pictures and this is the biz as a camera..the thing is they are as rare as hens teeth so if we don't get on i will get my money back easily enough.

Hiya lav how are you doing? Hope all is well.yes it was nice to see Amy..when she was here she handed Julie a card..inside was a photo...can you guess what? You are right. She ie expecting. Considering what she has been through they never thought it could/would happen. She is due in August. I am just staying out of it all.Juli is like a mother hen clucking all over the place Considering Amy is a senior midwife with about 10 years in..i think she has a bit of a clue .Apart from counting rain drops not a lot happening. I may nip to shops for a bimble sitting in doesn't do it for me.

Hiya everyone else..hope you are doing well

Ah, that explains why Amy came for a visit, Mick! You are going to be a grandpa! Congratulations!
We received the news yesterday that D3 is expecting a girl! She sent a photo of baby Andy bawling next to a bouquet of pink “It’s a girl” balloons -as if he had wanted a brother instead of a sister! She also is due in August.

So that’s a hen harrier huh, Mick? Majestic bird…it rather looks like an eagle.

I think it’s nice that you & your sons live together, PQ; the comfort of living with together with family, and all sharing the load together. That said, I know the friction that can result from living with other people, so, you’ll have to assess & decide which way may be better for you.

That’s good news about Pauly, Lav.

Hi to TG, Pie, Det, Wags and all too.

          Good evening friends,

Getting a bit chilly here again but that?s fine. We actually had a glimpse of sun this afternoon, looked nice
Got Dave the bad boy to the Vet today for his rabies shot & his nails clipped. YB was here to help me get him into the crate so there was no fight or bruising this time haha. Even on the sedative the Vet lovingly called his ?Spaz? haha!!! Mission accomplished.

Mick, CONGRATS to you Grandpa, that?s wonderful news. Of course Julie is excited, I?m happy for all of you. Amy will be fine with her knowledge & experience. I thought the same thing of myself until I was suddenly being rushed into the oR for an emergency C section. These things happen unexpectedly, some of us are just that lucky. You have a lot to look forward to, that?s for sure. That?s a great picture Mick, get the camera!

Slo, wow, August is going to be one exciting month!! Congrats on your newest granddaughter, how exciting! I hope Andy isn?t too disappointed on getting a sister. My younger brother was born one week before my 4th birthday & I remember being truly disappointed. I wanted a sister because I already had two older brothers Lol. Come to think of it my daughter wasn?t too thrilled getting a little brother right before her 4th birthday either. Oh well
What?s on your game plan for the week? I?m seeing my NP Wednesday for a BP check. YB has two cataract extractions scheduled for February which involves a long drive ay too early in the morning (6:30) am. I just hope the roads are clear so I can get him there & back safely.

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Pie & everyone.
          Wishing everyone a nice night!

MAE ALL...checking in to stay accountable as I didn't make it on yesterday. Weather still above freezing so that's been nice. Nothing else going on, same old, same old.

Mick...congrats to you Grandpa. What lovely news. Smashing picture, sounds like that's the camera for you.

So...also congrats on the new grandchild news. We haven't decided on anything living wise, things got a little testy so I just dropped it.

Lav...glad to hear you were able to get Dave to the vet in one piece. No sun for us today, it was actually quite gloomy out there.

Sorry for the short post but got to get dinner going. Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

              Mae all,

I read all the posts I've missed (how could so many days go by?) and was in the middle of posting (on an iPad) when it ran out of power. Note to self - check the charge level. I am now on my computer, with a real keyboard, so you should be able to read this without extra questions marks peppering the text...

Mick, first of all congrats on Amy's news! How exciting! I'm sure Julie is thrilled too. And PS, I loved the pick of the birds - great to see them up close like that.

SLO - another baby on the way in your family? Sounds like the stationary bike will be the ticket, as you go forward. And who knows, perhaps it will get easier over time.

PPQ - wow, what a lot of change in your life. Change is scary, but it can be good in the long run... I know you will figure out what is best for you - maybe getting just what you want! I hope all the office tension eases... thank goodness the boss steps up (Seems like, anyway).

Lav, can you explain to me what it is about boxes that cats like so much? So many of my FB friends post hilarious "box" photos with their cats. Good luck with the fog - we had intense fog here a few days ago... it was spooky. But today was in the 40s F and sunny!! I worked 6 AM to 2 PM, so I missed it, and I really wanted to walk more on my way home, but I didn't have the energy. I just waved at the sun and staggered home to my apartment. I'm off tomorrow, so hopefully I get some sun then.

Greetings to Pie, Det, Sam, Fly and all else stopping by. I am AF and generally happy - just VERY tired at the end of these days. I wish all well!

Hi folks! It sounds like everyone is doing well! Just checking in sober and happy. There's a lady on instagram reels who keeps posting great stuff about being sober. Loving that it is becoming more main stream. I hope more people decide to try it out!

I hope everyone has a great week - nice to read all your posts!

One job that I really hate ,
Is putting Dave in his crate
He claws spits bites and scratches too
Its worse than boxing a Kangaroo,

he cant be enticed bribed or cajoled
can only be approached by the mad and bold
gloved up and suited is the only way .
to sit down and relax on a scratch free day .

                    Good evening friends,

More cloudy weather today but dry, so it?s OK.
We are now chicken sitting for our neighbor while they go on a cruise out of sunny Florida. She brought all 12 of them over so we don?t have to walk up their steep driveway a time or two per day. Her hens are still young & laying daily not like my older slugs haha!

PQ, glad to see you & greta that your weather isn?t too harsh at the moment. I heard something today about a cold front dropping out of Canada but going to West Virginia - OK with me haha! Dave still seems somewhat subdued today, Lol

Cyn, good to see you as well! Any job keeping you on your feet & moving for 8+ hrs is going to be exhausting. Not sure I can do that anymore so I give you a lot of credit. Rest while you can but enjoy the sun. I have no idea why cats like boxes so much but they sure do. They always seem to be happy & proud to take over an empty box.

Kensho, good to see you & we all agree, sober living is the way to go!! We?re not missing a darn thing are we?

Mick, your poem is awesome, thank you!
I hope you got your camera as planned & keep taking beautiful pictures.

I forgot to mention last night that Dave had a moment of insanity yesterday when we got home from the Vet & let him out of the crate.
This is what we found about a half hour later. We?re not totally sure how he got up there LOL

MAE ALL...much better day today, really helps when the sun comes out. Sorry Mick. We hit a record today at 15C/60F.

TG...never a dull moment in my life, geez. Hope you're getting some good sleep with all that work you're doing.

Kensho...good to see you popping in. Being sober is definitely getting more main stream, I see examples of it everywhere. It is great to see.

Mick...I hope your trip to Liverpool was a success. Had a good day today, meeting with boss, accountant and childcare to go over the new programing I've been working on went well, except for the accountant. On one hand she talks about customer service by emailing certain customers about upcoming changes and on the other hand she wants everyone to have a credit card or give their banking information plus nickel and dime them with service fees. It's as if she doesn't want to do any manual work, maybe she's planning her retirement. LOL Managed to solve a programing issue before leaving today, good way to end the day.

Lav...not looking forward to returning to normal temps this weekend. The rainy weather is coming from BC and colliding with a cold front from the north. I think you're right that it might stay west of you. Great picture of Dave. That's hilarious. Here's what Purina says about cats & boxes...There are lots of reasons that cats love boxes, but the main one is because they're confined, enclosed spaces. Cats are ambush predators and finding confined places where they can hide, hunt prey and feel safe and warm is an instinctive behaviour. Snug cardboard boxes fit the bill perfectly. Isn't it nice that the chickens came to you.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

A woman walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a double entendre.
So he gives it to her!!!

Michael O’Leary, Chief Executive of Ryanair after arriving in a hotel in Manchester went to the bar and asked for a pint of Guinness.
The barman said, "That will be ?1 please, Mr. O’Leary."
Taken aback, O'Leary replied, "That's very cheap," and handed over his money.
"We do try to stay ahead of the competition", said the barman. "We have the cheapest beer in England".
"That is remarkable value", Michael comments.
"I see you don't have a glass, you'll need one of ours. That will be ?3 please."
O'Leary scowled, but paid up. He took his drink and walked towards a seat.
"Ah, you want to sit down?" said the barman. "That'll be an extra ?2. If you'd pre-booked it would have cost ?1."
O'Leary swore to himself, but paid up.
"I see you've brought your laptop" added the barman. "That wasn't pre-booked either, that's another ?3."
O'Leary was so incensed and his face was red with rage.
"I've had enough! I insist on speaking to a manager!"
"Here is his e-mail address, or if you wish, you can contact him between 9.00 am and 9.01am every morning, Monday to Tuesday. Calls are free, unless answered, then there is a charge of only ?1 per second".
"I will never use this bar again".
"OK but do remember, we are the only hotel in England selling pints for ?1."

                          Re: 28 Jan

                          MAE all,

I have been trying to plan a trip with my friend for our 60th birthdays that both occurred this month (her idea), but getting nowhere with it.
And then yesterday, D1 all of a sudden wants to get out of Winter and go someplace warm, and get her kids someplace warm; so, now she & I and the three little kids are booked and heading to Puerto Rico Feb. 8-12th!! Wee! Her husband is swamped at work, especially since a key person left and siphoned off a large chunk of staff with him; so he can’t go anywhere right now. Getting his kids out of town for some days will enable him to more easily work overtime too. Win-win!

Thanks for checking in, Kensho! That’s good news that an Instagram poster is out there putting AF living in a positive light. That can help slowly change the opinions of the masses.

Lav, that’s funny that Dave escaped to the roof after returning from the vet!
I have seen & heard of several little girls with brothers but no sisters, falling completely apart at the news of yet another brother! I wish you could have had a sister.
My grounding mat arrived yesterday! It absolutely reeks of rubber -like a tire store, only stronger. I just ordered the pad for under or over the sheet. I think that will be a better way for me.

Fingers crossed that the accountant is planning her retirement, PQ!

TQ, I agree with Lav: I couldn’t do a job on your feet for 8 hours like you are doing. So my hat is off to you!
No, the exercise bike is not the ticket. It hurts my dumb fake knee to do it. So I tried a different stationary bike at a Y: no better. So I bought an apparatus to turn my outdoor bike into an indoor bike: no better, so I returned it. I never thought I’d end up like this; unable to take walks, unable to ride a stationary bike…so frustrating.

Mick, so cool that you snagged such a great deal on the fancy camera!
The joke about getting back at the CEO of Ryanair was funny.

                          Onward & upwards!

                            Greetings everyone,

Still cool & cloudy here but dry. I hear better days are coming soon.
Passed my BP check with flying colors this morning 114/70. All it took was two strong meds, a reduced sodium diet & as much exercise as I can tolerate LOL. I don’t know how many more years I’ll get but i want them to be good ones . I baked a loaf of multigrain bread today that really turned out nice. We had chicken salad sandwiches for dinner`.

PQ, hope the cold weather isn’t too harsh to deal with when it gets there, stay warm.
Come to think of it we have 2 of those wool cat caves & they do like to hide in them & pop out to attack one another haha. Cats are so weird.

Mick, that’s an awesome camera you got there, good for you. You will be busy trying to figure out how it works for a while i imagine.
Roof-boy Dave seems to be fine today, such a weird boy haha!

Slo, I’m sorry your mat smells like rubber. I have to be honest with you, I don’t think my sense of smell ever completely returned after my head injury/surgery back in late 2000. Maybe mine has the same smell too. Hopefully airing it out for a while will help. I really am sleeping better & consequently feeling better since I’ve been using the mat. Your upcoming trip sounds wonderful, good for you! I hope you really get to relax & enjoy the trip.

Hello to Cyn, Pie & everyone checking in.

MAE ALL...the day was over before I knew it, I must have been busy. LOL

Mick...congrats on the new camera, it looks awesome. Normal temps this time of year is highs of -3 and lows of -14. It'll still feel like a heatwave after dealing with -30/-40. It's just that since it's been so nice lately I want it to be Spring.

Slo...wow, a trip to Puerto Rico, well done. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Lav...congrats on the BP checkup. As long as we don't drop into a deepfreeze I'll be able to handle the change.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Sorry the post is so short but I've got to get dinner going. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP
