    11th Feb

mae all how are we today then? hope everyone is having a decent weekend...not raining over here so I thought Id do a little bit in the garden..errrm plan failed ..planted up the camellia ...that was all I was originally going to do...but ..ended up taking the side rails off the raised bed ..cutting new posts 2 x2 x 4ft long ,removing the old posts and putting the new ones in ..dug the old end boards out of the raised bed ..moved the soil from one end back about a foot ,cut and fitted a new end board and screwed it all in place ..replaced soil.then Julie says that she had found bonnie chewing some wiring ...went into the garage ,,my fault Id moved my toolbox out and she had got into the gap near the wall and chewed the power cable for the garage roller shutter door .I grabbed the wire and got a blo,dy good belt of electrickery ..just as well my heart is ok!! here is what she did ...

    20240211_130137.jpg

Ive cut the cable back to where it is undamaged, and soldered in a new piece of wire with shrink fit protectors on them.Checked it works ..job done ..She is currently (get it?) locked up .As I speak it has started raining .

    how is everyone else doing?

    Re: 11th Feb

    Sunday evening greetings friends,

Kickoff time for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas & I’m not watching as usual haha! Never did have any interest in that stuff. Thinking about all the beer & chicken wings being consumed right now, makes me sick, ugh. The rest of the country can have it all, I’m out
My neighbor returned home from her cruise today, took her chickens home & cleaned out the shed where they stayed, so that’s done.

Mick, I just felt exhausted after reading your post, geez. You get more done in a day’s time than Ido in a week haha!. Glad Bonnie is OK, sorry about the shock you received. Maybe she needs some safe chew toys to keep her away from your electrical wires. I’m interested in seeing how much rain/snow we get from this system moving in tomorrow night into Tuesday morning. I think the folks in New England will be getting a lot of snow. I can do without.

Hello to Cyn, Pie, Slo & everyone stopping in tonight.
    Wishing everyone a nice night!

          MAE ALL....quiet boring day LOL

Mick...a little bit of garden and look what it turned into. Wow, I'm glad your heart is ok. I'm surprised Bonnie didn't get a good jolt! So sorry to hear about Julie’s Dad, I hope he’s ok. Do the paramedics have to stay with their patient until he’s seen by a Dr.? I’d be right ticked if that were my Dad.

Lav…I didn’t watch the Superbowl either, not even to see if Taylor Swift made it there. LOL Nice that your neighbour cleaned out the shed for you. We’re supposed to cool down again mid week, back to the -19C/-2F. We were supposed to get snow last night but apparently it’s coming tonight now. We’ve been way too spoiled, but at lest it’s sunny out.

Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

            Good evening everyone,

Awaiting the start of the predicted rain which is supposed to turn to snow overnight, swell.
Had a trip to the dentist today to get a tooth taken care of before a real problem sets in, hate those emergencies. YB had a call from one of his Amish customers asking for drone shots to be taken over his farm, haha. It’s so funny how they refuse any technology until the need arises & they can use these pictures in their advertising.

Mick, I hope Julie’s dad was seen promptly, it’s so sad people have to wait so long in the emergency rooms. Same thing happens here too.
I did end up watching some of the first half of the football game but didn’t watch the halftime show. We turned on PBS instead, LOL
Glad Bonnie is OK but you do need to find something better for her to chew on in the future.

PQ, you had a boring day, that’s OK better than being insanely busy, right?
Over here the EMS/Paramedics only stay with the patient until they are loaded onto a hospital stretcher whether it’s in the hallway or a cubicle. They have to get back in service asap because there’s always more calls coming in for them. Hospitals are never staffed adequately so people just have to wait to be seen, sad. Hope you don’t get too much snow tonight.

Hello to Cyn, Pie, Slo & everyone.
            Have a nice night all!

mae all ..how are we doing today then?hope all is well.Julies dad isok and back in the care home .Just after Julie told me that he was in the corridor ,2 nurses ..not porters came for him ..Apparently ,a local initiative they have set up is called the Frailty unit ..it had just been opened for the first time that morning..it is for those that were as the name suggests..frail .The nursing staff were specially chosen for it ..It was still getting unpacked when they were there..Julie says she wasnt sure whether it was because there were only 2 patients in there at the time but the whole atmosphere was fantastic and the staff took time ..from the doctor downwards .So much so Julies dad said I like it here ..can I stay .Upshot is they have changed his meds and put him on a remote blood pressure monitor.I couldnt just sit around ,so I did a lot of the de grouting and finished off the raised border outside .

hiya Lav how are you doing? hope all is good now that the toof has been sorted out .So YB has a drone? what kind ? mine is a DJI 2...It does seem like the Amish do bend the rules to accom themselves sometimes ..ie use of motor vehicles drones and phones ..seems to me that its ok for such modern fandangled contraptions although not allowed to be used by them ..can be used by others on their behalf .Each to their own .Same over here paramedics stay with patient in their charge until they are handled over to the hosp .authorities ..Seems like your system is as broken as ours .and I bet the reasons are very very similar.Political dont give a sh.t attitude .no authority ,leadership or direction for staff ..in some cases staff attitudes ,funding streams minimal ..management steams top heavy ,wokeism .You can apply that to any of the social services be it health service ,fire, cops , armed forces ..I ll get off my soap box now !!!!Hopefully going out with camera today ..got someone coming to look at the other one tomorrow .

hiya ppqp ...how are you doing today then?hope you are ok I hope this unit that has started maintains momentum .I am sur it will get buggered up along the way ..someone will jump in with you are biased against whatever other that or the fatcats will pull the plug on funding .Did you get the snow?hope you have a good day .

hiya Slo teegee,Pie and everyone else ..anyone heard from Wags?

                Re: 11th Feb

                Good evening folks,

Sure enough it was raining when I went to bed last night & snowing when I woke up this morning. Probably had 3 or 4 inches then the sun came out & started melting it all. The news is full of local accidents, people will never learn to slow down when the weather is bad. I stayed inside, made a pot of soup (Tuscan white bean with lots of veggies) . The cats have been in & out all day, having fun I guess.

Mick, I have no idea what kind of drone he has now, I think it’s the 2nd one he’s had & not something I’d ever think to use.
His Amish customers often ask him to research for things online so they can get the best price. One of these days one of them will sneak a computer & wifi into their barn so they can do their own research & not have to pay YB for his time Lol
I’m glad your father-in-law got the attention he needed & is back in him home. The world is in need of more speciality units geared toward the special needs of the elderly. The baby boomers are filling up ERs & hospital beds now & there’s a LOT of us

Hello to Cyn, PQ, Pie & Slo & anyone else dropping by tonight.

                Wishing everyone a nice night.

                  Re: 11th Feb

MAE ALL...getting ready for my garden annual general meeting so asked the accountant to pull and income & expense report for me. OMG I couldn't believe the number of costs posted to our account. We used to pay for website hosting & domain once a year, collect everybody's rental fees and apart from a few replacement expenses that was it. I now see I'm going to have to ask for a monthly report. Geeze

Mick...so glad to hear Julie's Dad is ok. A new Frailty unit, wow. I hope it maintains momentum, it's sure needed and I'm glad they had a good experience. More work on the de-grouting, have you much more to do? Bet it was nice to get the raised border outside finished.

Lav...heard on the news driving home that the NE US is getting clobbered and it's headed to Atlantic Canada. Good plan on staying home and soup is always welcome. It may be sunny out there but man it's cold. The wind just goes straight through you. With wind chill it was only -12C/10F today. Going down to -15C/5F tonight and into -19C/-2F tomorrow night. Although we get a lot of flurries there's really no snow building up. Do you think if they snuck a computer/wifi into the barn they'd know how to use it? LOL

                  Slo...hope you're have a great time.

Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

                    Re: 11th Feb

I’m back! It was a great vacation! I loved getting into warmth & sun and the ocean! It was fun to see how completely delighted Beckett was with the ocean. He couldn’t stop laughing and playing chase with the waves. 2 y/o Mabel liked laying out topless on the beach lounger with her hands behind her head and sunglasses on! Cooper liked the sand. It was great to walk around in the balmy evening with shorts on and no coat, and sleep with the window open. I enjoyed getting to spend all that time with my daughter and three little grandchildren. Mabel has developed quite good conversational skills! Baby Cooper is snuggly, and has a cute little smile with two bottom teeth showing. Beckett is still very challenging and whiny, but at least not while he’s in the ocean.

PQ, I don’t get why the change in charges and costs, but yes, more frequent oversight for you to do then.

Mick, I very much like the idea of a frailty unit! And that helped Julie’s dad to be well cared for and returned back to his home facility.
I hope your new tile work will be worth all that tedious de-grouting.

Lav, yeah, that’s pretty hypocritical of the Amish to get the others to do their bidding with modern technology, and then benefiting from these technologies that they themselves won’t use.

TG, oh, I’m sorry about how things are playing out with your nephew and his family. Thankfully his wife has you for some emotional support.

                    Night all!

Good morning all. How are we doing today then? Hope all is good. Ive got a buyer coming for my initial camera this morning. So hopefully will get rid. Nice camera but i don't need 2.
Bought 4 young fruit trees yesterday .apple pear cherry and plum.get them planted up when this weather calms down a bit.
Julie's dad seemed a lot more settled. He had the nurses in stitches when he was in the hospital.
Hiya lav..yep that snow looks lovely over there. The right backdrop for it..it wouldn't look right here. Is it still snowing? Must be a fair ole depth now. As we speak 0655..ive got a pot of soup on the go..carrots onions turnip parsnip and lentils.a nice hearty broth.
I will send you some..have a good day.be careful when you are out sledging!!!!

Hiya ppqp..how are you today? I would be going through those accounts withva fine tooth comb..see who else has been adding to it .how are things at work?.has it all calmed down now?.yes I really do hope this initiative takes off.we are failing as a country our own society the young the old the the poor the homeless. Instead we are concentrating on things and phrases like cancel culture wokeism and treading on eggshells whilst the rich get richer politicians blatantly lie.grr get off the soapbox!!hope you have a good day

Hiya slo how are things with you? Sounds like you had a great time on holiday. Good for you..just what was needed. Still a bit to go on the grouting and then i have to take 6 tiles out. How did the pain hold off on holiday? Did the warmth help you?

Procrastination Pi popping in for a hello. Let's see, Mick's playing with electricity, Lav's making soup. PQ's keeping the community center on track, and Slo's marveling at all the beach sand that followed her home. I'm tending 15 year old foster dog following his dental surgery on Monday, and watching HGTV. Life in the fast lane, I tell ya!

Greetings friends & Happy Valentine’s Day & Ash Wednesday & anything else going on, Lol
I’m not really celebrating anything today, been there & done it I guess.
It’s clear & chilly with some bone chilling wind gusts today. Had to go out & replenish allergy meds but the roads were clear so no problems.

PQ, you need to find out who is using the company credit card, geez. I’ll send YB up there if you need a detective, he’s a good snoop haha!
The New England area did get hammered with snow & that’s why I prefer the mid-Atlantic section of the country. Keep yourself safe & warm out there , spring is on the way.

Slo, glad to hear you enjoyed the trip with your family. Sounds like the perfect getaway
The Amish only go to school until 8th grade but they seem to be able to figure out a lot on their own. The younger generation seems to be willing to try new stuff until they get caught by the elders, Lol

Mick, at least half of the snow melted off yesterday & what’s left now on the lawn is kinda frozen. It can stay there & as I said the roads were clear.
                          Glad Julie’s Dad is stable.

Pie, I’ll bet that 15 yr old had a lot of teeth pulled, poor thing. Brushing a dog’s teeth is one thing I’ve never been good at, I have tried.
Good luck with the dog & take it easy.

Cyn, we haven’t seen you for a few days, everything OK? I sure hope so!

                          Wishing everyone a nice night!

His mind sees things differently than most of ours do, to our amazement, and amusement.

7 - A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

Lav, yes his remaining 8 teeth were removed. New word learned: edentulous.

Mick, I do have solution for you for keeping cats out of garden beds. Hardware cloth. Lay down strips of it in the beds. You don?t need 100% coverage. Cats don?t like walking on it, or digging through it, so they go elsewhere. Used it many years ago with success, and just bought a new supply for here at my condo. It comes in rolls. Initially used a 24? roll. This time ordered 8? wide, so I don?t have to trim it as much. Might be called welded wire mesh in the UK.
