    Greetings all!

Sounds like you're on your way to feline-free garden beds, Mick. I've not yet installed my own recently-received order of hardware cloth. It comes in rolls, and I selected the 8" wide by 10' length. One bed that I want to protect is about 6' long, so I'll unroll all 10', cut it in half, and place the two strips (one in front, and one behind) on top of the soil at the base of the shrubs that grow there. Guessing that your squares will work just fine, Mick. I find the wire hard to cut, so that's why I go with strips.

My foster dog is recovering spectacularly! Pretty sure I'll discontinue his pain meds after today.

Last week I was doing online support for a lost dog in a rural area near Dallas. Turned out that a guy doing metal detecting, spotted the lost one in a field. Guy saw one of our flyers, phoned the owner, and the little runaway is now back at home!

Went to lunch yesterday at the home of a long-time friend. Homemade soup, salad, veggie pizza, and wicked good cupcakes! Still smiling at how enjoyable it was. I really should get out more!

TG - Hope you get a work schedule that better suits your energy!

Hello to Lav, PQ, , and Slo!

      Good evening all,

Lots of sun & melting here today, yay! I hear we may be having a fee days in the 50’s later this week, nice. You have to love a spring teaser
My lunch date with a friend tomorrow has been postponed until Wednesday so I’ll be finding something else to do tomorrow. Made a shepherd’s pie for dinner, yum.

Mick, your tile work looks great, good job I like a lot of color around me too, makes me happier, haha!
Julie’s bread looks awesome, good for her!! I find we tend to gain more weight when there’s fresh baked bread her so look out!! I hope her Dad is OK.

Pie, your lunch sounds great, such a good friend to make all that. I really look forward to my lunch dates, I’ve become such a loner since moving here 21 years ago. We all need to be in each other’s company from time to time. That wire is hard to cut, hard on the hands for sure but once it’s in place it does a good job. Waiting anxiously to start planting & growing things again.

Hello to Cyn, PQ & Slo. Anyone else stopping by - hello!

      Have a nice night all!

        Mae all,

Home from a 6AM to 1PM shift. Took a sizeable nap after that, and now getting going again for the evening.

Mick, the tile is wonderful! I love your artwork - good job! I hope that whatever you end up using in the garden will work for you. You deserve a clean space to garden.
Lav, so glad you have a lunch date planned, even if it was postponed..; something to look forward to! I am enjoying the longer days already - 6 pm here, and a nice light glow in the sky still. Our days are 50 again, after some snowfall and 20s this morning. Early spring...
Pie, congrats on the better health of your elder dog - wonderful to see a dog bounce back with the right care. And what a wonderful story about the lost pup and the reunion. Getting the word out is key - so great you have a system for messaging.
SLO, how is it going getting back in “everyday” mode after your trip? Any success with finding ways to have your shoes work better? Hope so.
PPQ - hoping that things at work are humming along, and no more crazy antics from the other staff members. Did you get the predicted snow? I woke up to snow the other morning (unexpected), and the temps here have been cooler - more seasonal - but the days are sunny, and that counts for a lot.
Hello to all others - sending good wishes to all -
        TG

          Re: 18TH Feb

Daughter’s swim meets most all went well; I went to Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday sessions, and skipped Thursday’s ones, and also skipped the Friday preliminaries, and just went to Finals. Not a real dedicated sports parent, I’m afraid. I don’t live up to society’s outrageous standards in that department. Well, it’s still a 50-minute drive to get there! Now the season is over. And this time ex-HB’s girlfriend & I managed a “hello” to each other, instead of just a head nod.

I got my left shoe built up an extra 1/2 inch in the sole, then had an X-ray done to see if I could get the thick orthotic inside the shoe cut down some; but no, I need that full thickness too, in order to be level in my hips & spine, etc. So it’s a tight fit in my shoe, and the back of the shoe rubs on the back of my ankle in the wrong place. So I find that I still can’t overdo it on my feet, or I think I’ll cause new problems in my foot.

          Shepherd’s pie is delicious, Lav!
That’s perfect that you had enough fabric left from the window treatments to make pillows.
I have a lunch date on Friday, and am thankful to have the chance to get out & about and catch up with an old friend. I isolate too much too.

TG, can you make your elder some of the interesting foods from Trader Joe’s sometimes, instead of cooking from scratch?
I’m glad that you can maybe stabilize your work schedule now, instead of changing shifts so often.

The tile job is spectacular, Mick! And the wall art is interesting.

I found more sand, Pie! There was a bunch embedded into my laundry. I liked hearing the story of a lost dog being found thanks to the “missing dog” signs.

          Hope all is well, PQ.

            Greetings friends,

43 degrees & sunny today, can’t complain about that.
Heated up the chicken noodle soup that I made Saturday for dinner tonight, easy.

Mick, you haven’t checked in today, I’m hoping everything is OK with Julie’s Dad. Thinking about you all

Cyn, I’m really glad you don’t have a long commute to work. A 6 am start time is harsh, especially in the winter.
I really do appreciate the lunch dates with friends, good way to catch up & stay connected.

Slo, do you suppose the girlfriend is happy going to the swim meets or just going because she thinks it’s expected? A friendly ‘hi’ is progress.
Glad your shoe & orthotic situation is decided but I sure hope you don’t end up with blisters on your heel, ugh. Thin socks maybe?
I was happy I had enough fabric leftover to do the pillows, they look nice. Enjoy your lunch meetup too, we need these friends & connections.

Hello PQ, hope all is well.
Hello Pie, any new doggies this week?

            Wishing everyone a nice night!

hiya all...how are we doing today then? I ve just checked ...and I posted a quick post from the dentist yesterday (theres a clue ) but it never sent on my phone .Julies dad is ok ..they dont know what it is that caused it but Julie said that she thought his time had come ..he was so so so grey ..he came round and they checked his heart ,brain chest everything and found nothing He eventually got back to the care home at about 9pm at night .He has been referred to the chest pain clinic .Julie has spent 14hrs in A and E this week.I chipped a tooth ,but thankfully I managed to get to the dentist and he repaired it ...and then...yep ..the zoom lens for my camera jammed up ..apparently a common fault so I had to take it to repair shop on the another side of Manchester ..he is going to look at it...the repair bill if it can be fixed will be high ......

hopefully today is a better one !!!!!

                Evening greetings,

Cold & sunny again today, it’s OK. I’ve been busy with odds & ends so the day went by quickly.

Mick, sounds like Julie’s dad had a false alarm but something obviously was going on with him. Maybe it was a TIA & not cardiac related after all. It’s not always obvious with the elders especially if they can’t tell you what happened themselves. Glad he’s stable & back in his home now.
I’m hoping to get a few months off from visiting the dentist, I’ve seen enough of him these past few months. Glad your tooth was fixable. Not sure about the camera lens situation, hope it’s not too expensive to repair. Hang in there.

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Pie & Slo. Hope everyone is having a good day

I’m going back to my embroidery machine, working on a pillow for myself. Pic coming tomorrow.
                Have a nice night all!

hello everyone from a sunny and scorching Lancashire ..only kiddin ...its chucking it down with rain .how are we all doing? hope all is well ..not a lot happening over here at the moment Im redoing the window ledge in the bathroom and polishing up the tiles.Ill find out today whether my lens is fixable or not .Rabbits are doing fine .saw a cat in the garden yesterday ,and yep it left a present ..but in all fairness there is a vast difference since I put the bits of mesh down as well as the rabbit droppings ...that serves a two fold purpose ..it annotates that the toilet are is already taken ,and also fertilises the ground .Ceres an interesting one ..dont know if its the same over there..but I went to a shopping mall...(check how Americanised we have become)...half the building was empty ..its like they have condensed all the shops into one area of it and the empty shops the intention is to turn it into office premises ..Covid certainly changed the ethos of shopping ...as well as greedy landlords charging extortionate ground rent ...is the same happening over there in where you are ? have a look at this guys cam ..it is interesting

hiya Lav ...how are you doing? hope all is good over there with you.Cold and sunny ...hmm cold rings a bell with me ...sunny ...not so.Yes I dont want to see he dentist for a wee while either ...to be fair he didnt charge me for the repair ..but over the years I have given him enough shekels .Dont know about the lens ..hopefully repairable I know what the problem is ..but unfortunately I cant get into it to fix ...we shall see .
Julies dad was as good as new yesterday ..up with the lark really happy and cheery .So strange .hope you have a good day .

hiya ppqp...it took me aaaaaages to write all those emails .!!how are you doing today? hope all is well with you ...how is work doing?

                      Good evening kids,

Had a nice lunch with the friends today & came home with an order for two embroidered pillows, haha, they keep me busy.
I check around the gardens for ‘signs of life’ every day & today I saw my autumn sedum is starting to send green sprouts out, nice. That means I need to cut down last year’s growth which I leave on for the winter bugs. Time for them to find somewhere else to hang out. My granddaughter’s 13th birthday is on Monday & I need to plan a dinner out with her & her parents to celebrate.time really flies

Mick, what is your average yearly rainfall total? I imagine it must be a lot!!!
The shopping malls of the 70’s are either torn down by now or nearly empty like you said. It’s crazy how things change over the decades. The one in our former hometown is really sad looking at this point. Since I’ve moved down here a good percentage of my shopping is done online. There’s just no where to go shopping in cow country, Lol. I have 2 of my cats outside now but they pretty much stay on our property (as far as I know). They have plenty of room to go exploring & the meadow area we created is full of field mice which keeps them busy. I just don’t like it when they bring a half dead mouse up on the deck or driveway, yuck.

Hello to PQ, hope you’ve caught up with all that email, sounds like a ridiculous amount.

Hello to Cyn, Slo & Pie. Wags if you’re looking in we’d love to hear from you.

MAE ALL...another busy day, got through the emails yesterday and there was another 24 this morning. Geeze. I have been doing non stop bookings so I guess that's good. Will be glad when we get it all automated online.

Mick...same happening here with the shopping centers. The big box stores are disappearing and lots of smaller shop areas, but to fill it out they're putting housing/condos in, with of course the rents sky high. Are you talking about the new lens you just got? I sure hope it can be fixed. The boss and accountant are at it again. She really needs to retire. At least the childcare directors are getting along.

Lav...no signs of anything popping up in the gardens here. Just heard we'll be getting snow this weekend and going down to -23C/-9F Sunday night. Not looking forward to that after the gorgeous week we're having. Went for a checkup at my dermatologists and he did find one mole/dot out of the many on my back that he sent off for a biopsy. He said it would take about 3 weeks to hear anything.

I am exhausted so will find something to eat and call it a night. Shout out to the rest of the gang....:smile:PPQP

                          Mae all -

Working has kept me busy, and also doing my “stuff” for the Long-Covid help regimen. Then last night I started to feel a whopper cold coming on... I did all the things I could think of and had at hand in the house to use, but alas this morning I knew I was a goner. I did get myself out and to my Homeless Meals by 7:30, knowing that were short-handed, but only stayed an hour. Slo - I am not really cooking for my elder, mostly shopping and putting food together for her. So Trader Joe’s will help alot. On the way home in the AM I managed to stop and get some more good food options, as well as more health support to get over this cold. I went to my elder’s, put away the groceries and made up a little dinner for her to have this evening. The rest of the day I have been “toast”. I’ll keep using the neti pot, taking the supporting tinctures, and hydrating. I guess that’s all I can do with a bad head cold. Wait it out. I was reading a new book that I picked up at the airport when I was away on the weekend - “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. Fascinating; it goes from pre-civil war south to modern day Smithsonian and points in between, all about a phenomenal race horse. I haven’t read a lot about pre-Civil War south... it is eye-opening, as well as quite an introduction to horses and horse racing of the 1850s.
But since the narrative goes back and forth in time and place, my memory is being challenged to keep up with all the stories. Or maybe I slept through some of it reading on the plane. Anyway, I had to go back and read some parts over... that was a new thing for me. Oh well.
Wishing all well - sorry not to address each of you - I will in the coming days. Gotta get rid of this cold now...
                          Take Care,
                          TG

mae all ...how are we today then ? hope all is well.and yes it is raining ..it battered down during the night .Painted up yet another pot for the bathroom and took the grouting out around the window ledge .I think that will be getting finished today ..Car has got to go into the garage..making a strange noise ..hopefully something simple.Phoned up about camera lens...the guy says he can probably fix it ..pick it up on Saturday.Julies dad doing ok yesterday. Its so nice how much the staff actually do care for him ..trying all sorts ..its fantastic after some of the horror stories you read about some care homes .

hiya Teegee how are you today? how is the cold ? hope you are feeling a bit better .You do better than me ...one thing I cant stand is reflective writers who bat their stories between the present sand the past .ok I understand the need for a prelude and narrative to set the scene but not to keep taking you back.Personal choice I guess ..you take care.

hiya ppqp..how are you feeling today then? hope things are ok with you.We have got lots of bulbs starting to push through ,the camelia bush is budding up and got its first flowers ,the roses have got their first buds out too.Seems you are a stage further with the shopping centres ..turning them into living accom..but yes very pricey .the problem is the greedy owners base their prices around the business rateable value of the property ..which can be real crazy money .and then costs on top .thats the fear over here ..living accom...but at sky high prices .
your boss and the accountant need to get their act together .hope you have a good day .

hiya Lav ,,,how are you today then?glad you had a good lunch yesterday .I do the same ref the garden ..I cant get up to date figures for the rainfall but yes you are right ...there is a lot!!there is a run off from the hills behind us in the fields ..in recent times it is more like a river!!best bet the prep done for the part for your grand daughter!

                              Hello to all,

I am going to a different chiropractor for my stomach issues etc., and he says my legs are even and I don’t need the orthotics and extra 1/2” in the sole?
He says that’s not his philosophy to treat that way, and he wants me to try going without after his adjustments…and I don’t know who to believe!!
I don’t know how I can not have a structural leg length discrepancy what with the modified knee replacement with the giant plastic lining…yet the big shoe stuffed with the thick orthotic is not working out very well for me, and I don’t want to end up with nerve damage in my foot either. Gah. What to do?

TG, I hate feeling a head cold coming on, but try to stop it in its tracks and just can’t. You are forced to rest now. May it be short-lived.

I made plans with D1 to meet her at a hotel water park for Friday into Saturday with the three kids. Her husband is out of town for the weekend, and this way I can sort of help her with the kids, and give them something new to do.

Lav, my daughter turns 31 (D3) on Monday! And somehow that little godson nephew turns 14 on Sunday. All of a sudden he’s not so little anymore.
You have a great property for letting cats outside to roam!
Say, where’s the promised picture of the pillow that you made?
Ex-HB’s gf doesn’t go to too many swim meets with him. She only went to one of the five sessions of the big season-ending swim meet. She went to the one where D4 swam the mile. So she probably can tolerate it fine. Especially since she’s now in St. Thomas Virgin Islands with him.

Good news that your camera lens is likely fixable, Mick. Like that video said, we have lots of infilled retail space and office space here too. It is fascinating how online shopping and working remotely changed everything so much.
