    Re: 25 Feb

MAE ALL...had a great day today. Went in early to finish up some documentation, presented a run through demonstration, turned everything live and sent out notification to all childcare parents currently enrolled in our programs. Registration is set to open at midnight, can hardly wait to see how many have signed up when I get to work. This system is so much easier/friendlier than the one we've used for the last 6 years. You know, the one the "other" boss implemented. LOL

Mick...OMG what kind of sh*t is that! Kept in a care home against his will, WTF. Thinking back to my Dad, we had moved him into an assistant care facility when he started going down hill, still very independent as far as coming and going but there were eyes on him all the time. After a 3rd fall the Dr in the hospital said he wasn't going home again. So I guess it was a medical decision that put him in a care home, not family members. But still, I have never heard of something like that before. Thank you for the rant, it's opened my eyes.

Slo...oh no, when did that happen? I thought it was TG that had a head cold. Hope you feel better soon. Good luck with the acupuncture, it never worked for me.

The news just showed pictures of Texas on fire. WOW Pi...is that somewhere near you? I get confused as to where everyone is.

Lav...I don't think there was anyone walking on the roof. My unit is part of, I think, 12 units. So the building is 3 stories high but very long. I think it was the wind moving things around. But, son's bedroom is directly under the roof so who knows. LOL Your day was my day yesterday. Today we had sun and warmer temps. It's going to last until noon tomorrow and then we're getting hit with a cold front heading south colliding with a warm front head north with rain/snow and high winds. We'll have a high of 4 in the morning dropping to -19 by the time I leave work. I'm sure glad I'm not a meteorologist.

Landlord emailed me asking how many months I need to move out or if I'm planning on staying. Geeze...thought I had some breathing space. Must deal with a response, whish me luck. Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

Mae all - tired Treegirl here. Did the Homeless meals downtown, took care of my elder who needed a little soothing and some food (family coming in today for a couple of weeks, yay). Then went to my PT, OT, and Speech Therapy. So much new information and exercises. Makes my head spin, but they are definitely helping. AND I am starting to understand this disorder. intriguing new info all the time. this facility is cutting-edge. I feel some hope of getting closer to feeling ?normal?.
Love to all. Mick, special energy to Julie and you about this nonsense re:Julie?s dad.
      Wishing all well,

        Re: 25 Feb

mae all ...how are we today then?hope all is well...What a performance yesterday ...we got to the bottom of this rubbish from yesterday now bearing in mind that Julie got the phone call saying that it was going to happen yesterday morning ,and it will go in front of a judge, the fact the he could return home etc that is what she was left with ..

ok on that basis what would you think?so yesterday Julie went up to the care home for the meeting at 11....by 12 this woman hadn't turned up ..so at 1210 Julie got the lady in charge of the home to phone her ..guess what she had got stuck in traffic turned round and gone back home ..not bothered to tell anyone ..
So then she asked the care home about the origin of this meeting .It turns out that it is a "box ticking exercise "because in the early days her dad had kept saying he wanted to go home ..and they were duty bound to make sure that he wasnt being held in case anyone reported it .thats where it had all come from .It shows you how the wrong info can cause a real fuss .Julie being Julie has read the whole act that this applies to ...and probably knows more about it than the woman ..She has a very keen clerical mind ,and there was a lot not communicated or not done. The meeting is going to take place on Sat morning now ..going from being completely destroyed to how she is now ..this woman better be ready for a conversation that will be like a one armed sword fight!

Thank you teegee for your best wishes ...do you ever stop ?You certainly do a lot for those who cannot .a star

hiya ppqp...thanks for your wishes..Glad you had a good day at work and all went well...I thought that your landlord had an ulterior motive as opposed to just coming up with what if questions...concentrate on yourself ..hope you can get sorted out ...I certainly would be pursuing that avenue .if he has asked that question ..leave it open ended ...dont put a time limit ...for instance if you say 3 months he will have a target date..but if you say it would depend on the current housing situation ,your financial situation family situation ..work etc ..then he cant pin it down .

hiya Slo ...how did you get on with the acupuncture ..hope it helped you ..is there no way you can get the cat to use a tray ?

hiya Lav how are you doing? hope all is good with you.I must be honest I subscribe to ybs thinking too ..though they arent all he same ..but again I came across them in a similar capacity as he did .it just shows you though how a little wrong information can cause chaos .hope you miss the bad weather

a big shout to everyone else .

          Re: 25 Feb

          Greetings. everyone:

It’s a cold but sunny day here! I missed the super warm day when I was sick.

PQ, Mick has good advice for dealing with your landlord. I don’t get how you can stay on if he’s selling the building? Does it mean the new owner would agree to keep you as a tenant, but most likely jack your rent way up?
It will be fun to see how quickly the families sign up for the Summer programs now that the software is more user friendly! And I assume it’s easier on your end too.

TG, yay for your elder’s family coming in for two whole weeks!
I am so glad that the three-pronged approach of physical, occupational, and speech therapy may be just the ticket to heal from long COVID.

I mean that my cat yesterday morning puked 5 times and pooped 3 times, and peed once while puking, on my floors and couch cushions! The pet hotel thinks he’s struggling with constipation. Otherwise he uses his litter boxes, although he pees in front of them more & more.

          Good luck with your days!

            Re: 25 Feb

            Good evening all,

We started with sun this morning but the clouds moved in this afternoon. Made a trip to Costco for some necessities. Couldn’t get gas there, the lines were too long for our patience haha. I’m a little concerned that Luna went out after breakfast this morning & hasn’t returned yet. She does this sort of thing once in a while but it’s pretty cold out, heading down to 26 degrees tonight. I’ll keep the outside lights on for her & her dinner in the fridge.

PQ, so how many signed up on your new program so far? Sounds like a good deal for all.
The wildfires in N Texas & Oklahoma shouldn’t be anywhere near Pie as far as I can tell. Still, it’s awful seeing all that area burn. I’d let-the landlord know you have no current plans to move & see what he says.

Cyn, you had quite a day yesterday, no wonder you were tired. Glad the elder will have some responsible family nearby for a while. Great to hear the therapies are looking promising. I hope they help get you into a good place

Mick, sure sounds like the social worker jumped the gun without having current info, duh. Hopefully she learns a lesson before pulling that stunt on another family. Glad Julie is properly armed & ready to stand her ground!! We had 40-50 mph winds all night but didn’t lose power, lucky. A lot of people did though.

Slo, do you think the cat is having stress issues? I know their behavior changes when they’re stressed. I don’t know a whole lot about cats, dogs are my thing mostly. I supposed the vet could do a simple xray to see if he’s got a belly full. Well I hope you’re feeling better yourself today

Pie, thinking of you & hope everything is OK.

            Have a nice night all!

              Re: 25 Feb

MAE ALL...it was 10C/50F with lots of sunshine until 1pm when the temps dropped 15 degrees in an hour, wind started howling and the skies turned black. We are going down to -13C/9F tonight and there's now a snow fall warning in place. Saturday was supposed to be our heavy snowfall but who knows what the crazy weather will do. Registration for summer camps opened at midnight and by 12:10am we had 22 registrations (people are crazy), got to work at 7:30am there was 63 registrations, by 10:00am we had 103. A parent (one of the nurses from the hospital) phoned childcare to say this was the easiest Summer Camp registration he'd ever seen and thanked them for it. LOL

TG...I was glad to see that family is coming in for your elder, for a couple of weeks no less. They may have their eyes opened to what is going on. I'm glad the PT, OT, ST is making a difference. So glad the facility is cutting-edge and you're getting so much out of it. All worth it.

Mick...what an ordeal Julie has been through. To think it was all over a "box ticking exercise" geeze. I believe every last one of them said "I want to go home." I speak from experience. Go Julie Go!! I replied to the landlord that we'd prefer to stay. If we had to move I'd probably look for a subsidized seniors place. One son is still not working, the other has been working for about 6 months so I suppose they'd stay together and figure something out. Haven't heard back from him. LOL

Slo...of course you were sick during the warm days, always the way. I think if he sells the condo the buyer could raise our rent or simply kick us out. I don't know, never been in this situation before, never thought I'd be in it now. The nice thing about the software is we can make changes on the fly, if something's not working the way we want it, we can simply change it. And it all makes sense.

Lav...oh oh, Luna's on the prowl. Remind me, did you get her fixed or could she come home with another litter? Last count when I left work today was 162. They sign up by the week with a max of 50 kids/week. Childcare asked people what the urgency was to sign up and most of them said they are not going to be able to work from home anymore so they need care. We offer the summer camps plus before & after care so if their child is enrolled in our licensed programs they can leave them from 7:30am - 5:30pm. A lot of the other summer camps only run till 3pm and if it's an outdoor camp and it rains. they just cancel the day. I'm sure glad I'm not working and raising kids in this day and age. Thanks for letting me know that Pi is probably not affected by what's going on in the panhandle. When I saw the footage of the fire I thought it looks worse than when northern Alberta was on fire. Yup, basically told the landlord I don't want to move so we'll see what happens next. I've decided not to stress over it. A retired co-worker came by for a visit the other day and I told him what was going on. He lives in an apartment just across the street from my complex and believes there are units available at reasonable rates. If push come to shove I can rent a 1 bedroom there and the boys can crash on the floor until they figure out what they're doing. My main objective is to stay as close to work as I can.

I've been typing this post on and off for an hour. Time to figure out dinner. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

                  Re: 25 Feb

                  Hello friends,

Well I feel like an idiot now. Apparently I left my bedroom closet door open when I took a shower yesterday morning & Luna crawled in there. I closed the door as I was leaving the room afterwards SO she was stuck in my closet until nearly 11:30 pm. I heard a whiney little voice as I was going to bed & yep, it was Luna. She wasn’t even mad at me, she didn’t make any mess, I feel stupid haha!! All that time I thought she was outside in the cold, duh.
Had mostly sun today & it was nearly 50 degrees, not bad. Rain expected all day tomorrow.

PQ, I’ve had all 3 of my cats neutered so there will be no more kittens to deal with & I’m OK with that, Lol
Sounds like your new registration program is da bomb, haha. That’s good job security for you all! Summers & kids out of school were always a nightmare for me. It was especially bad when I was working night shift & had to get some sleep during the day. I did a lot of bribing & threatening with my kids in those days to behave, it worked out. When they got big enough to reach the cash register at their grandfather’s drug store they walked there & worked too!
Securing yourself a 1 bedroom rental is probably the way to go, your sons will figure things out for themselves.

Mick, sorry about the snow, hopefully it didn’t last too long!
Neither of us likes to wait in line for gas. We were forced to do that back in the early 70’s if you remember, once is enough. I hope Julie gets her point across easily enough with the powers to be. Have a great getaway

Hello to Cyn, Slo, Pie & anyone stopping by.

                  Have a good night all!

                    Re: 25 Feb

MAE ALL...:yay: IT'S THE WEEKEND :yay: Why can't the weather people be wrong when they forecast sh*tty days! It's been snowing all day and is going to keep going until sometime tomorrow night. I didn't even plug my car in 'cause I'm not going anywhere tomorrow.

Mick...where's the rain when you want it. LOL Hope the weather doesn't interfere with you getting away on Sunday. I'm doing good and am so glad this week is over. We are on a month to month so it could get dicey, except we've been here forever so hope that means something. What will be, will be. I'll just deal with it as it comes, like I've been doing most of my life. LOL Good luck to Julie, I'm sure she will be very diplomatic and deadly :devious: Phone is off.

Lav...I just gotta say...:rotlf: wow, I'm surprised Luna didn't attack you. or destroy the closet. Can happen to the best of us. I remember now that you got them all done. I'm so glad going live came off without a hitch, especially seeing the signups! There's a few "Special Circumstances" which we can deal with individually. One of the directors asked some of the parents, why the rush to sign up? Most of them replied "because we can't work from home anymore". Aww! Most camps end at 3pm, but we offer free before & after care, 7am - 5:30pm and we're licensed. Summer was the worst raising the boys on my own. So much guilt, and then I'd smarten up and say It is What it is. Wish they could have walked to Grandpa's store and worked, maybe they'd both be working by now.

Shout out to the gang. Have a good night all...(used up my max smiliees)PPQP

                      Re: 25 Feb

                      Evening,

The pet hotel shipped Boyd off to the vet when they thought he had constipation etc. the last time he stayed there. They did labs, and charged me $300, but nothing was said about or offered for constipation.
He gets very stressed whenever I leave him, so I feel very tied & bound to home by a cat. I’d like to go visit my daughter D3 & her HB & Andy!

I did visit Huxley today though (he’s local), and helped daughter D2 catch up some with sorting baby clothes and with housework. Today is her day off.

My illness has morphed into a cough and a rapidly worsening head cold.

Diplomatic & deadly! Such a good description, PQ, of how Julie will be tomorrow! Such nonsense (as TG says) to have to go through RE Julie’s dad. And yes, confused nursing home residents do all want to go home. At least that’s how Satz in the Army Thread (RIP) described it, working in the nursing home.

Stellar results with going live, PQ! I had no trouble understanding why all the parents hopped on at midnight to secure a spot in Summer Camp for their kids. It is critical to find child care for the Summer!

Lav, my sister accidentally locked her cat in her clothes closet too once while in college -only it was a makeshift closet that was actually like un-insulated attic space, in summertime! That poor cat baked in there all day, and came out completely drenched in sweat and wobbling.

                      Night all.

                          Good evening friends,

We had our rain day as promised. Tomorrow is promised to be 63 degrees & sunny, I’ll take it
We are finally getting to take our granddaughter & her parents out for her birthday dinner tomorrow. Should be good times.

PQ, obviously Luna is very forgiving or she just knows I’m getting old, haha!
Aren’t you glad you don’t have to worry about childcare any more? I am very glad myself! That was one of the curses of youth as far as I can tell Lol
Hope your weekend is good despite the continuing snow.

Slo, is there anyway you can take your cat along with you sometimes? I know most people wouldn’t want to do that, just a thought.
Get your Nyquil out & get yourself some good sleep to head off the head cold

Mick, I hope Julie marched into the meeting with a take no prisoners attitude & got her point across, haha!!!
Sounds like you are ready for your trip, I hope you two have lots of fun.

Hello to Cyn & Pie & anyone else stopping in tonight.

                            Mae all,

Good to read what everyone is up to, thanks.
Mick- wishing you a wonderful holiday time!
Lav, I'm glad you'll finally be able to have a birthday celebration, nice.
PPQ, congrats on the great Registration drive - well done! Sending good vibes that the rent situation will work out.
SLO, I'm so sorry that the cat is having such difficulties...that sounds pretty disturbing. I hope you can find a solution. Any news on the physical front?
Mick, can't wait to hear how the meeting with Julie went... I wish I could have been a "fly on the wall".
Lav, the story about the kitty is pretty hysterical... so glad you found her! And glad she wasn't out in the cold.
Pi, I hope rescue is going well for you. I keep trying to carve out time to volunteer with our Humane Society... it is under new leadership, and all the communications are very enticing.
I have been working my preferred early shifts of 5 - 1, 6- 2, and tomorrow 7 -3. I have no trouble getting up and getting to work on time, but once I walk in the door after work, I head straight to the sofa. The last 2 days I've slept 3 hours, then finally got up for dinner, etc. I sometimes forget that I am still having to work through Long Covid symptoms; so I guess it is all right that I "crash". Hopefully that will change over time.
I hope that we get some rain soon... I don't think I can stand to see the grass brown from Spring through Fall like last year. It was nice and green all winter long, but just recently has been browning. Crossing fingers for rain and not as hot a summer as last year... the poor trees need a break from drought!
Sending good wishes to all - Sam, Det, Pauly, and all dropping by.
