Re: 3 march
Greetings friends,
We had a nice sunny day & that’s supposed to be the last one for nearly a week. Lots of rain on the way I hear, shouldn’t complain. Had dinner with the birthday girl & her family, had a nice time. Hard to believe she’s 13, most of you remember when she was born. I guess that’s proof time really does fly
Mick, having a decent navigation tool is worth a few bucks, Lol. Now you know!
Happy birthday to Julie, I hope you both enjoy the trip.
PQ, sorry about all the snow. I’ve seen weather reports for areas way north, you all got slammed. Stay put & stay safe. Spring is on the way any day now
Cyn, I saw your post from yesterday. Keep restoring your energy with those power naps, they’re necessary. We stopped a Trader Joes today where my daughter lives & it was mayhem. We left without buying anything, never saw it like that.I guess weekends are worse than the rest of the week.
Hope you get your fair amount of rain this spring so things stay green. Not looking forward to the summer heat either, we get what we get I’m sure.
Slo, hope you’re feeling today. My daughter & her crew just got over those super snotty colds too.
Pie, what’s going on with you?
Hello to anyone stopping by & wishing everyone a nice night!

Re: 3 march
Good morning all and how are we today then ? Hope all is well. Slept really when I eventually got to sleep. It is a nice sunny day over here this morning. Very cold, but nevertheless nice and sunny. And looking at the weather forecast, today is probably the worst of the days. It's Julie's birthday today, so we are off into London. Haven't made any plans at all.
But just have a bimbo about And see the place. We are probably goingo on a boat trip up the River tomorrow obviously weather dependent. Woke up this morning to sound of screeching parakeets Screenshot_20240304_082140_Photo Editor.jpg
They certainly make some noise. Just a short post. I will take some pictures. Later on. I was going to take the big camera into London. But to be honest, I can't really see the point. It is more for landscapes and nature photography if that makes sense. I am doing this on my phone , so apologies for any grammatically incorrect english or punctuation. Take care of all and have a great dayaf since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: 3 march
It’s a sunny day here too. And so deliciously warm yesterday! -but now starting to trend colder again.
So glad you had nice family time getting together for your granddaughter’s birthday, Lav, and celebrating the new teenager. Seems like just yesterday when she was getting kicked out of that daycare!
I agree, Mick: just enjoy London and Julie’s birthday unencumbered by a big camera.
TG, can you still sleep at night after the 3-hour naps? Then they are necessary!
Sorry about all the snow, PQ!
I do wish your boys would have had a grandparents’ shop to go work in when you were busy working and the young boys were sitting at home. It would have benefited both you (peace of mind, extra help) and them (industriousness, time with grandparents). I too am so relieved that the childcare years are over.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 3 march
I’m hitting up acupuncture in earnest this week: 3 sessions. I’m still going without the orthotics and the built-up shoe. Hope I’m making the right decision, but it feels so free to be unencumbered by all that!
I had dinner with my sister last night, and then she stayed here over night. I was getting so lonely. It’s so nice to have her companionship. She seems to be going through a sober/AF stint.
Bye for now, my friends!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Re: 3 march
Happy Monday everyone,
I woke up with some energy so I went for a haircut, stopped in Walmart & the grocery store for stuff too. There?s a real pretty pink glow in the sky over the garage & greenhouse right now
Mick, glad you?re enjoying your trip. They look like parrots, no parakeets to me. We had a green parrot like that many years ago & he was the noisiest SOB, haha!!! We found him a new home after he chewed up the windowsills, duh. Keep enjoying yourselves & Happy Birthday to Julie.
Slo, i really hope the acupuncture does the trick for you. You?ve been through a lot with that knee/leg. Time for some lasting relief, for sure. Glad your sister was available for you
Hello to Cyn, PQ, Pie & everyone. Wishing a nice night for all!

Re: 3 march
MAE ALL...what a day, didn't sleep well and then we weren't able to open the community centres' front door at 7:30am, and it went downhill from there. Every tablet in the main room of childcare decided to switch the kids names, last name first, and every time a parent would check out their kid, the tablet would crash. Trying to cancel a summer camp week for a parent and I couldn't get the right dollar value to come up. It had something to do with the discounts. Took me forever but finally got it. On top of all that it's minus bazillion out there. I'm glad this day is over.
Mick...Happy Birthday to Julie, I hope you guys have a great time. Bimboing about London sounds great to me. Hope you can get your boat trip in tomorrow. I don't blame you for lugging around the big camera.
Slo...nice that your sister is going through a sober/AF stint and was able to be good company for you last night. I am so tired of this cold weather and all the snow we got doesn't help.
Lav...Nice pic. Is that the start of sunset? If you've got any leftover energy, send it this way. Hopefully I'll get a better sleep tonight.
Going to get something to eat and then put this day behind me. Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

Re: 3 march
Mae all from a rainy London. It was lovely yesterday. Got the tube into London then went on a boat trip down the Th.from Westminster down to Greenwich village .we ended up going to Nandos for something to eat.someof the prices of houses on the river are unreal. You are talking millions of pounds. Then we got back to the van..watching television and Julie got the phone call to say her dad was poorly again .it was Pitch Black and tbh i didn't fancy a 5 hour drive but it really upset her and changed the whole atmosphere..she said she felt guilty for going aw .they took him to the hozzy did loads of tests and released him at 2 am this morning after doing that and nothing else .Julie's nephew was with him ..managed to get hold of him.So a wee bit tired today...the plan was to go to Kew Gardens today but its raining so go tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing ok

MAE ALL...it's been a much better day today, getting more sleep helped.
Mick...So glad you got the boat trip in. Sorry Julie’s Dad went back to the hospital, but glad Julie’s nephew was able to be with him. So you didn’t actually drive back, right? Nice pics, thanks for sharing them.
Will pop back in when I get home from work....:smile:PPQP

Re: 3 march
Greetings folks,
Gray & rainy today, just as predicted. Two more days of rain then there’s a break on Friday & Saturday so that’s something to look forward to I guess.
I’m caught up with embroidery stuff so I guess I’ll actually do some housework the next few days haha!
PQ, glad to see your day was better today. Monday’s stink no matter where you work I’m afraid. I guess the snow isn’t melting since you said it’s so cold, sorry about that. I’m really wanting to get things growing outside again, can’t wait! Yes that pic was at sunset yesterday. The pink lit up my whole kitchen!
Mick, sorry your plans had to be changed due to rain, ugh. So Julie’s Dad had a mild episode of ‘something’ but not severe enough to keep him in the hospital. It is entirely possible the medical staff in his nursing home jumped the gun a bit. I saw that happen over & over when I was working. The doctors can clear up this confusion by having an honest conversation with the family (when to transfer him to the hospital & when not to do so). He is older now with chronic health concerns that can’t necessarily be fixed. I had this talk with my Dad’s doctor when I moved him from my home into a nearby nursing home. Thanks for the pics, glad you were able to get the boat ride done today.
Hello to Cyn, Pie & Slo, hope you are all well.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 3 march
Mae all,
Things have been a little complicated here. My SIL went in for emergency abdominal surgery ( a new complication related to surgeries from a few years ago) so I wanted to help out with “hospital sitting”. I am the daughter of a grand master hospital sitter, so I’m well trained. I went there last night after I got off of work, and got filled in on what was going on. My brother has been with her already through the surgery etc., but today he had a responsibility that he couldn’t get out of, and I was off of work, so I spent most of the day just quietly being there if she needed something, taking notes on all the meds, doctor visits, etc. My brother has been there when the doctors “rounded” so he is in the loop with that. It really makes me super-grateful for good health. (Though my brother and SIL are 7 years older than I am, so we’ll see how I am in 7 years...)
How is everyone here? We have cold days for a bit, but that’s what one expects in March... the sun is shining at least, so that is wonderful. The sun feels quite strong.
SLO, good luck with the acupuncture. It can take some time after the appointment for things to come into balance, so I hope you can give it a few days. It is a kind of therapy that works well for me, but each individual is different - here’s hoping it brings some relief.
Lav, I hope you skipped the housework for an hour or two and just relaxed... I don’t think you do that too often. Are you seeing things pop up in the garden? I see some greening around here, but we could use some rain.
Mick, what wonderful pictures you are taking of London! Thanks for the views. I’m sorry Julie got that call while away. Sounds like it got handled by phone - I hope so.
PPQ, you poor thing!! My jaw dropped as I read all the things that went haywire that one day... good for you for keeping your cool and getting everything done. But then again, why am I surprised - you are the master of those situations.
Hello to Det , Sam, and all others visiting - wishing all well -

Re: 3 march
Hiya all.hope we are doing good. We were supposed to go to Kew Gardens today but we sacked it. 2 reasons. Firstly there were severe delays on the tube.and secondly bearing in mind mostof the Gardens are outside for the price you wouldn't see much in bloom instead we got the tube into London and walked around the place.walked from the tower of London along the embankment to Westminster after stopping at St Paul's and return a grand distance of 19.35 ks roughly 12 miles. Toda was Budget day so the place was loaded with cops. Home tomorrow..been a nice wee break

Pic1 is St Paul's
2 is parliament or tthe Palace of Westminster
The pic of the statue and St Paul's i dedicated to the fire bobbies who lost their life in the Blitz.
It is so iconic the pics you see of the Blitz are usually St Paul's and fighting fires .so I tried to frame the statue with the cathedral
Last pic .look at the tiny cradle on the side of the building.they are cleaning windows!!!!

Re: 3 march
Good evening friends,
Rain day, just blah out there. Made a pretty good chicken pot pie for dinner
Cyn, sorry to hear about your SIL, hope everything works out for her. Nice of you to sit with her, I’m sure she appreciated the company.
I’ve noticed a definite greening of the lawn, weeds taking off of course. My daffodil leaves are up a few inches, no blooms yet. The autumn seder has started growing new shoots, progress I guess. It will be time to plant onions soon. My grandfather always planted them on St Joseph’s Day which is March 19 I believe. Take care.
Mick, thanks for the pics, nice. I see blue skies there, good for you. How would you like to be that window washer? Yikes!!!!
Have a safe trip home.
Hello to PQ, Slo, Pie & everyone.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 3 march
MAE ALL...another busy day but it was ok, I got most things wrapped up before shutting it down for the day. The accountant has gone off the deep end. I booked a parent for 2 summer camp weeks and took her payment offline, she was paying the full amount on debit, and the accountant wanted to know why I did that. I said why not? It's the same as a senior coming in and asking me to help them register for a program. She asked me if I'm willing to do that for others and I said yes, why not? And then the truth came out, now she has to post the transaction in our accounting software. OMG, really. Had a quick word with the boss before I left and he said she's really starting to get his ire up. Has her nose in everybody's business. No kidding. LOL
TG...hope your SIL is doing ok. It was lucky that you were able to help with the hospital sitting. Work has become life in the fast lane. LOL
Mick...your photos brought back so many memories of me and my twin in London, especially the tube! Love your photos and glad you made the best of not going to Kew Gardens. Safe travels home.
Lav...we're starting to warm up, slowly. Lots of sun and it must have a lot of heat to it as driving home after work was a test of slush driving. Cold again tonight then we're above freezing. There's a lot of snow out there so bring on the flooding. LOL Just before I left work got a call from my dermatologist. I thought Oh oh, they weren't going to call if all was good. First thing she said was the biopsy was fine, no cancer. The Dr. just wants to see you again in 6 months to check things out. Ok, I can live with that. LOL
Got an email from the landlord and he said he'd leave our unit as a rental if I'd be willing to sign a 1 year lease at $1500/mth. So I guess the $150 increase good for a year 2 months ago is mute. I told him I'd be willing to sign the lease if he could date it for June 1st. I offered to still pay the increase for April and May, just didn't want the lease coming due in the middle of winter. Will let you all know the outcome.
Shout out to everyone else, hope you're all doing ok. Have a good night...:smile:PPQP
