Hiya all how are we doing today then? Hope all is well. Julie's dad got taken to hospital last night...same thing. The biggest pain is..he goes into these..then comes out of them.by the time the ambulance got there he had recovered had eaten 2 chocolate digestive biscuits and had a cup of tea.now bearing in mind he has form for this..he has been to A and E 5 times in 19 days and the same results..comes round then discharged..the paramedics contacted his general practice which is less than 20 yards away from the home. The doctor was really rude to the paramedics and told and i mean told them to take him to hospital. They got there and the consultant was not best pleased with the doctor. They took his bloods and ecg and discharged him without any meds.he is referred to a cardiology specialist. He was discharged within the hour but there was a 5 hour wait for an ambulance. I went up in my car and picked him up.
it is really sunny outside cold but sunny.

    Hope everyone is doing well

      Good Saturday morning!

I had to put Boyd down Thursday. The vet said it was time. God, is that an awful thing to go through! He didn’t eat for four days, but then rallied and had started eating normally that day. So he was alert and had his sparkling green eyes…yuck. I got a long time in a room to say goodbye, and held him through the sedation part, but left before the lethal injection. My last view is of him rounding the corner wrapped in the blanket in the vet’s arms, curious with his glowing green eyes and perky pink nose…ugh!!
But he has been going downhill for an entire year, since last March. He would have turned 17 at the end of the month.
Well, I did my best to take good care of my little buddy, but now I can start living the pet-free life that I want to live. More freedom to come & go.

Mick, isn’t Julie’s dad on Do Not Resuscitate status? Then why do they keep trying to revive him?
Finally, you get a chance to go out detecting again!

PQ, could Boss get to the point where he could fire the accountant? Thankful that you have two days away from that place this weekend.

Congrats, Pie, on 10 solid months AF. You are getting close to a year now! I bet you feel like keeping this quit, and never having to crawl out of that hole again.

I babysat Huxley yesterday. He is a 20-month-old cutie now. It was comforting to have our time together!

I hope everyone has a good Saturday.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Slo...so sorry to hear about Boyd. I have been there and know how hard it can be. You did the best you could for him and you know it was time. Like you say, it's time for a pet-free life, which you want. You'll be amazed at how much more freedom you have. I can't believe Huxley is almost 2 years old! I'm sure the boss would have let her go by now except she keeps talking about retiring. We have put new automation into almost everything we do now so her hours are going to be drastically reduced anyways. Speaking of automation, he asked me if we could target Apr 1st to launch online facility bookings. Sure, why not, we can do it at the same time we launch the new fall semester for out of school care. Geeze.

Mick...oh no, not again. Me thinks it's time for a different doctor. I'm glad the consulting doctor was not impressed and being referred to a cardiology specialist is probably for the best. Glad you went and picked them up, a 5 hour wait is just too much. Sunny here today as well and starting to warm up.

Will check back in with everyone later today. Have a good one...:smile:PPQP

          Mae all -
Work day for me today - 6 AM to 2 PM... and a Saturday, so the store was nuts!! Did I say that I have a Garmin watch given to me by the Rehab place for Long Covid? In return, we are tracking my respiration, heart, stress, oxygen, walking, etc. It all gets transferred to my phone and then to their program. I just let it do it's thing, but once today my chest was so heavy-feeling and painful that I stopped and did a "Snapshot". Heartrate was a little high,Oxygen around 93% ( it rarely goes higher than that), "Stress" was 87. Normal on this program is about 25, so it's confirmed, I get stressed at work! LOL.(PPQ - I thought of you - if you had this tracker, it would melt down when you have to deal with the accountant!! There is a "sleep score" and a "Body Battery" function that shows you what you added or subtracted from your "battery. I am always in the deficit category, eeek. Clearly my naps right after I walk in the door from work are necessary!!

SLO - it is always so hard to lose a pet that has been part of your life for so long. But it sounds like you gave him a beautiful life, and the ability to pass on without pain and distress. A real gift to him. Things will definitely be quieter around the house, but as you say - you will have the ability to travel and pursue some other things now. Hugs to you.

Mick, I really hope the virus goes away soon - you've had your share of bugs! Detecting! Wonderful! So sorry about the situation with Julie's dad... complex, and I'm sure very tiring for all.

Lav, we are getting 50s here - daffodils are blooming. I expect you go out to your garden and look for the early bloomers... I used to delight in seeing crocus early in the spring. I hope all is well!

Pie- I thought of you on Pi day!!! Was it on FB that you put a photo of your current rescue... you are such a hero to do that work. Thank you. And CONGRATS on 10 months!!!!! Fantastic. So glad for your well-deserved pride in your accomplishment. And I know what you mean about the gratitude of Life without AL... I am thankful for that every day. It's my first thought of each day; gratitude.

Well, kids, I can barely keep my eyes open, so off to bed I go. I'll be "sitting" with my SIL tomorrow as my brother goes to do his church work.I haven't been there for days - my brother got kind of cranky for awhile - I expect that it was anxiety over bringing my SIL home from the hospital... still using a "commode", needs lots of assistance. But he was glad of my offer for tomorrow, so maybe he's calming down. Not so easy when you're 75, I guess. 9He's such a young 75 that I forget!!)

Anyway, wishing all well and sending you best wishes,
          TG

            Greetings everyone,

just now able to login today so I need to catch up. I’m fine, nothing special going on.

Mick, I’m sorry Julie’s Dad was taken to the hospital again. Perhaps it’s time for the doctor to leave parameters with his nursing home such as don’t send him to the ER unless……..
a simple request from the family would help too. You shouldn’t have to keep going through all that. Hope the rest of your weekend is good.

Slo, I’m so sorry about Boyd, it’s so hard when the pets get to that stage. He certainly had a good long life with you
glad you had some Huxley time, that’s good for your heart & soul.

PQ, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend & nice weather

Cyn, your tracker is doing a good job watching out for you. Stress is a normal part of life but when it causes physical symptoms like that it gets scary. I hope the Cardiologist can help you out & get you on the right med. hope it goes well with your SIL. Is she getting some home PT to build strength? Your brother probably needs a break, I get that it’s hard being a full time care taker. Take care of you too!

Pi, hope your weekend is going well too.

            Have a nice night all!
