I'm surviving. Hell, I'm thriving. My entire family--mother, brother (wife, two kids), older son +girlfriend, younger son (wife, 2 kids)--have been in and out of my house for two weeks. I have seated 10 for dinner six times. It's not over yet. My older son and his girlfriend, who, if you've been in on my soap opera, is living with us, just went to New York for 4 days, but they'll be back. He'll head back to Japan, and she'll still be there. But for just a few days, hubs and I are alone! Mother is ensconced in her luxury independent living facility and is adjusting. If you saw the movie "Parenthood," one of my favorites, you'll remember the scene at the end where the grandmother talks about family life as a roller coaster. Well, that's it exactly. My brother has anger management problems, and his wife is about to issue him an ultimatum. My Japan son loves his job in Japan, but his Korean gf, whom he deposited in our house for her English language training, says she would rather die than live in Japan, so he's trying to figure out where to work after next year and whether they are going to get married. My younger son the musician is an island of calm and sweetness, but he is working his tail off and has to be on the road, and he misses his family. There have been screams, tears, and laughter...a lot of laughter. Moments of anxiety and moments of bliss. Lots of good food, and I wasn't ever drunk, thanks to naproxine. I don't think I could have gotten through all of this if I hadn't found MWO last year. My mother said, "You rose above it all. You were so calm and loving. You are the mother now." How about that?Tags: None

Sophia, that was a great post and you did rise about it all. I am so glad you and hubbie have a few days to yourself...you need the calm.
Just wanted to stop in quickly and say hi. Busy day again and hope to get back here later.
Have a fantastic Friday!"Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

Beaches, PP, have a fantastic Friday.
Sopia!---WOW You have certainly risen above the circumstances. I love the *you are the mother* statement. Have a great momentary breather!
I had 2 glasses of wine last night with dinner. I wouldn't have even opened the bottle, but when I got home from work hubby had the table set, and the bottle open! Dinner was in the oven (where I had put it) so we were able to eat and enjoy and catch up .
To all who arrive later-good morning to you too! And hope mods is going well for you.Life itself is the proper binge. Julia Child

Sophia, I'm glad you & your Huby have a few moments to relax. Love the "MOM" comment too!:h
Beaches, It was great seeing ya in chat last night! Wish I'd have gotten there earlier...Have a great weekend.
PP- Hope things are calming down on the homefront...& @ work for you. You always sound so busy.
Amethyst- Sounds like you're mod'in like a pro! :goodjob:
Zin- I hope your day off was as nice as mine yesterday. I spent the whole day on the river, with my doggie & stereo, paddling & surfing.
I brought 3 beers along, but only drank 2 1/2, the 3rd one got too warm...
I was starving when I got home, so I was really pleased that Hubby had picked up fresh salmon to BBQ. We did it on cedar planks, it came out great!
Tonight's my Monday, but I have tomorrow off for a Family reunion, up the creek. Should be fun!
Have a great weekend everybody!
Hugs,
