    What's Up WIth Sups??

Ok, tried to read a bit in the holistic thread but got a little lost. I ordered the L-Glutamine and Kudzu from MWO and am wondering about correct dosage? Time of day, etc. I am currently supplementing with milk thistle (liver), st. johns wart (mood, very effective when not drinking), C and B complex, black cherry extract, and a herbal sleep thing from GNC (works). Writing this I sound like I have developed another addiction, although I suppose not as bad as the one I seek to kick. Thoughts? Thanks

    Hi Gonegator,

Welcome from a fellow Gator! I'm Allie, often teased as "Alliegator"

About the supps, have you downloaded the book? The book outlines all the details about the supplements, dosages, what time of day, etc. You can download the book right from your computer and printer in a few minutes. OR, you can download it, and read it straight off of your computer if you cant or do not want to print it.

I highly recommend Gaba and L-glut most of all, but they are all so helpful and necessary, as each plays a role. Some are for cravings, and others are to replinish aminos and nutrients to kidneys and brain. I cannot stress enough to educate yourself about the program through the book, then if you still have questions, ask away! Most of us do.

    Welcome and good luck!
    Allie

        What's Up WIth Sups??

        Hi Gator, (and Allie!)
I'm also a big fan of L-glut. I take mine every morning at least 500 mg. Sometimes 1000mg if I know it's gonna be a big day. Like a BBQ, Family gathering, Holiday,etc... I also carry some extra caps with me when I go out, you can open a cap & put it under your tongue if ya have a strong craving.
        I also take 100 mg of topa. 50 AM & 50 PM.
As well as Milk Thistle, and B complex, also take a vitamineral green powder

L-glutamine works quite well for cravings. sometimes I think it's placebo, because it's an amino acid that iis found in almost all foods. It works though, I was taking 500mg a day when I first started trying to cut down on wine, l-glutamine and kudzu that really helped me get over the negative attitude that was keeping me drunk.
i also take multivitamins and minerals plus omega-3. I think having the right nutrients helps cravings a lot.

Thanks guys, I am doing the pill organizer tonight, feel like a drug addict. I really thought more folks in the moderation forum would have been using sups? Oh well, good thoughts from those of you kind enough to share. Thanks!!!

                Hey gonegator

The L-Glut is really important - I take more than I think some people do but I have read about it and its apprently perfectly fine to do so - I take 2000 mg in the morning BEFORE breakfast (this is very important - about an hour before meals); 2000 mg an hour before lunch and 2000 mg an hour before dinner. I also take the aminos at the same time from this site and its also very important i think. I dont take kudzu but I hear its very effective. Vitamin C is also very very good - i take Ester C which is a more absorbable type. And dont worry about the 'drug popping'' thing - drinking has made such an impact on our bodies, that we can handle higher doses of vitamins etc (and often need it) because of poor absorbancy etc. I take also Omega 3-6-9, Evening Primose Oil for cravings and health; and tryptophan....
                All the best

                  Hey Gator
My cupboard looks like a pharmacy now. I have a pillbox of 4x7 cells to keep track of all the supps and I make a huge effort to take them as directed. The supps schedule in the book has been updated -- should be included w/your order. (I bought the 6-week starter kit from the MWO website). I also started Topa a few weeks ago. I wish I could report a magic reduction in cravings from all these pills -- not so for me, yet. Am going to continue with supps and increase Topa and keep marching on. Hope to eventually get control of this beast and get off the Topa but would not mind staying on Kudzu, as no adverse effects have been found. Good luck to you!

Talk about a pharmacy!! I wonder what TSA thinks when they open my suitcase at the airport. I have many labeled plastic baggies of supps. LOL

Plus the directions of what to take when.

I fully expect for them to get confiscated one day and tested...

                    Oh well.

                      What's Up WIth Sups??

                      Confused about L-Glutamine

Hi everyone... Glad I found this thread - I've had some questions about L-Glut.

I've been taking 500mg in the am before I eat. Don't think I've been waiting a full hour though before I have my coffee (with SF syrup and 1/2&1/2). Do I need to have absolutely nothing for 1 hour? I take a powder vitamin in the am and I've been taking the L-Glut with that - is that okay?

Also, I understand the "take 1 hour before meals", but what if I had a snack an hour or so ago... is it okay to take it then wait another hour? I'm more of a "6 small meals a day" kinda person.

And what happens if you do take it too close to eating? Does the L-Glut lose some/all of it's benefit?

Any advice you can give me on an L-Glut schedule is appreciated!
                      Thanks!
                      Cheryl
