Wow, Lorelei, you've been thru so much, and all so recently. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that time comes for all of us @ some point,... but I just can't imagine, all @ once like that.
They say God never gives us more than we can handle.... that one really makes me wonder sometimes... He seems to have a lot more faith in some of us at times, ...than we have in ourselves.(at least it feels that way to me)
Ducky- So sorry for your loss as well.
I'm fortunate to still have both of my parents still with us. But, I'm feeling like I need to spend more time with them. They are still pretty busy with their lives though...(thanks mostly to my Mom, she does all the driving, with their RV-she drives, he drinks)
I keep noticing my Dad is really slowing down a lot these past few years. He also loves his beer, & has for as long as I can remember. But he used to always be so witty & sharp, always telling jokes, & singing... telling stories... He's gotten real quiet lately. Doesn't say much. He seems like he's aging right before my eyes.
Accountable-Your Mom is so young! My Dad had a couple of mini-strokes a few years ago. That's probably part of his slowing down, that & arthritis, he is 73 too. I guess people do slow around then. It's just he's always been this invincible tuff ol logger.
Then there's his Mom...my 99 yr old Grandma...she walks faster than my Dad!
Sorry, I'm doing the jabber-walkee!
Love & Hugs!
Hope everybody has a great day!
Still waiting for the rain to stop....The only thing worth stealing is a kiss...:flower: zwink:

Jude, it sounds like longevity runs in your family! Good to hear. You can be slinging out all of those great sayings for years and years and years to come! :H
My dad's side has longevity but.... My dad has only taken it upon himself to stop eating so many rich foods and drink 'lite' beer. (In my personal opinion it is just as bad because he drinks more of it.) He was diagnosed with gout two years ago and type 2 diabetes. He use to be a 3 pack a day smoker and gave that up back in 93 so I am thankful for that. He will be 59 this December. So he really has to watch himself. Years of alcohol abuse (he is a very functional alcoholic, but gets pretty hammed every night), and eating high fat, high whatever foods caught up with him. I am thankful he has taken on eating healthy and additional exercise. I wish he would lay off the sauce, but he more than likely will be buried with a Bud Light. :H
So, I, for one am very grateful to have found this place and now I know I have a better chance of living a healthier life than my parents have. This place hasn't only made get a grip on my alcohol problem but it really helped me do a complete inventory on all of my bad habits.
Sorry to have hi-jacked this thread two days in a row. Now, it really is time for me to get away from the screen. I think I am going blind!
